Hostel La Ballena backpacker in Santa Barbara de Samana

Mi casa en las galeras! Mi plan era una semana en la ballena, pero me quede un mes y medio, y me encantó! Los voluntarios convirtió en mi familia, y la ballena mi casa. Dormí en habitación compartida y habitación privada durante mi visita, la única es que algunas veces el ventilador en la habitación compartida no funcionó - pero resolvemos eso entonces todo bien. Todo funcionó, y por el precio que pagas las cosas están bien. Todo está cerca, la ubicación de la ballena es 10/10!

Belle expérience ! Seul point sur le fait quil ny a pas deau potable a disposition. Cuisine bien équipé.Le personnel est sympa et prêt à vous renseigner 😊

Leider habe ich keine gute Erfahrung mit dem Ort gemacht. Es ist ein Hostel. Aber für meinen Geschmack kein tolles. Also auf den Matratzen konnte ich keine Minute schlafen. Zimmer sind wirklich krass basic. Gefühlt ging es nur ums Geld beim Einchecken. Als ich dann noch einen furchtbaren Nacht früher gegangen bin wurde noch um Geld diskutiert und mit der Polizei gedroht. Hab insgesamt viel mehr bezahlt als als musste. War mir dann zu dumm. Die "Chefin" hat dann auch noch rumgeschriehen und dem Fahrer des neuen Hotels gesagt: ich hätte kein Geld. Menschenkenntnis gleich null. Wahnsinn! Bin froh, dass ich da weg bin!

We stayed at the hostel three nights. This is a very good price for the value.The room was nice and clean. The bed had a mosquito net which was very helpful as many mosquitoes sneaked into the room through the cracks above the door and windows. The private bathroom was also very clean but is not completely a separate room (there is no door at the entrance).The hostel also offers laundry service for a 300 DR pesos fee. We took this opportunity to get our clothes washed and were very happy with the service.There is a small but clean common kitchen wirh a fridge where you can prepare some simple meals. There is also a nice common room next to it.The location of the hostel is great (walking distance to Playa Playita, Playa Las Galeras, Boca Chica). The guagua from Las Terrenas can drop you directly next to the hostel, you just need to ask the driver in time to stop the van. One minute walk away is also where the 5.30am direct bus to Santo Domingo stops. Below the hostel is a small (but quite expensiveshop, a lady selling local produce and a very nice and affordable restaurant (seeDuring our stay the hostel was very quiet and everyone respected the rule of no kitchen usage after 11pm. There was some bachata music coming from the restaurants/bars nearby, however, the hostel has nothing to do with it. If you need a very quiet accomodation you should look more on the outskirts of Las Galeras.

Super lieu, le personnel est très gentil et au service de leur client. Le rapport qualité prix est génial. Passez-y !

Hostal para mochileros está bien, el ventilador no tenía mucha potencia, y faltaba una zona común más grande para generar ambiente, correcto para el precio, bien ubicado.

Ubicación ideal cerca de las playas,los bares,los colmados,el ambiente del pueblo. Habitaciones privadas muy cómodas y muy bien de precio.Muy buen ambiente con el resto de gente que se hospeda allí.Empleados y voluntarios que se encargan del hostel súper amables: gracias Ana por todas tus recomendaciones y tu buen rollo. Volveremos una tercera vez! :)

Too expensive for what you get, its well located, no drinkable water provided or sockets next to beds (in dormitory). Common area is uncomfortable only chairs, kitchen is tiny. Its not terrible tbf just the price is a lot for nothing, also the guy working there was annoying as hell, maybe thought I was trying to leave without paying but was beyond uncomfortable to have him behind my back in the morning, following me and laying next to my bed, laughable, I understand its his job but pretty silly and unnecessary to have this dumb attitude.

Excelente experiencia en el hostel, hermosas personas y una energia que no se encuentra en otra parte! Volveremos sin lugar a duda!

Me encantó este lugar. Está bien ubicado, pudiendo ir a las dos playas de Las Galeras andando y la relación calidad-precio es excepcional. Las habitaciones privadas son muy cómodas. La cocina está limpia y aunque es algo pequeña está bien equipada. Hay justo debajo un colmado donde puedes comprar lo que necesites para cocinar. El personal fue muy amable y nos dio recomendaciones de qué hacer por la zona. Había una chica española, Ana, que nos hizo de guía local e hizo que la estancia fuera insuperable.

Looks nice, people are friendly, price is good, but the dorm is tiny and hot (low ceiling as well), theres no drinking water and theres little water in the shower

Beautiful hostel in Las Galeras. Not far from the beach, just downstairs well-equipped shop. Lots of restaurants nearby. The owners are very nice. ‘You get what you pay for’ hostel. I enjoyed my stay here. Will recommend.

Nice place locationI poblished an honest review at booking and they responded here not like what really happen. I was out at the reception area before 7 until 0730 no one was there… they said I’m laying basically…. And they claimed that it been solved at the best way… still waiting for that. Being so dishonest in a an hostel it’s worst then just tell the truth and apologise..

Niezla lokalizacja, przy głównej ulicy ale nie przeszkadza hałas. Wnętrze obiektu ma ciekawa architekturę z dużym wykorzystaniem drewna. Nie ma tu klimatyzacji ale wentylator w pokoju nam wystarczył. Niewielka kuchnia dostępna dla wszystkich pozwoli na przygotowanie podstawowego posiłku. Bardzo przyjazna I pomocna obsługa. Cena do jakości wypada bardzo pozytywnie.

Tienen un descontrola allí enorme. No se aclararon con las reservas y pretendían que nos fuéramos de la habitación una vez ya pagado, y con nosotros no fue a los únicos que les pasó. Los voluntarios que trabajan no se enteran de nada y son unos getas. La cocina un desastre también

Esperienza indimenticabile, Las Ballenas Backpackers è un luogo ospitale e allegro ; la struttura tipica in legno è accogliente ed originale oltre allessere piacevole alla vista , è ubicato in una buona posizione. Sono stato bene e ho conosciuto persone uniche.Tra le opzioni della paradisiaca Las Galeras sicuramente consiglierei vivamente Las Ballenas.Ringrazio Franco e Beba

Nice and cute hostel! Ive been here several times and I wont change the place to stay the next time that I visit Las Galeras! Is super clean, plenty of beautiful details and warm. The location is perfect, close to the beach and in the center of town. Wonderfull place. One hundred percent recommended!

The place is fantastic and people really nice. The rooms are lovely and very clean. I spent a fantastic holiday in the hostel.Il posto è fantastico e le persone che ci lavorano molto disponibili. Beba e Franco fanno di tutto per farti sentire a casa. Sia le camere che i dormitori sono molto carine e pulite. Lo raccomando a tutti.

Lostello è molto accogliente, pulito, in ottima posizione, ottimo rapporto qualità-prezzo, in centro paese e vicino alla spiaggia.Da notare la bella struttura tutta in legno, con lavori artigianali, insomma un locale che consiglierei assolutamente di provare, soprattutto se non vi piacciono i villaggi turistici, ma preferite i locali tipici del posto.

Beba e Franco sono ospiti eccezionali, ambiente giovane e dinamico in cui ci piacerebbe tornare quanto prima. Stanze molto confortevoli e pulite. Altamente consigliato per un soggiorno allinsegna del buon umore e dellallegria. A mio avviso, conoscendo bene la zona, sono i migliori si Samanà.

Cosa dire di questa struttura....è unesperienza da provare, non molto distante dalla spiaggia, pulito, si respira aria di serenità della quale avevo, anzi il mio compagno ed io, avevamo bisogno. Barbara e Franco sono il non plus ultra dellaccoglienza. Ho passato momenti veramente indimenticabili. Da rifare appena sarà possibile.

Excellente auberge, très bien située pour visiter Las Galeras (incontournable de la republique dominicaine !Accueil très chaleureux de Gardi, nous recommandons sans hésiter.

The place it perfect. Beautiful and you will meet amazing person there. Gadi thank you for your time youre amazing my friend. They owner is really nice he made praticly all the place by his hand and it so beautiful. You will dance, play domino, laugh for sure you will have fun. Next to a colmado where you can by all you need and he makes the best corn bread and banana bread. I really enjoy my time there supposed to only stay to day finally I pass 5 days. ❤️❤️❤️ I recommend for any one that what to know more the culture. And meet people.It little but charming ☀️❤️☀️

Dortoir femme avec aucun endroit pour accrocher le moindre vêtement ,ni serviettes. Petit Locker pour garder ses affaires.Propreté moyenne de la salle de bain.Cuisine mais le frigo est déjà plein. Pas deau potable pour nous.Ambiance Dominicaine avec musique jusquà tard ( plus de 1h30 du matin). Personnel, Gardy, très sympa et arrangeant.

Great place for backpacking and short stays. Its close to a lot of places and 2 beautiful beaches plus the service is excellent. When you go ask for Gardy...HE IS AN EXCELLENT HOST.

Me gustó mucho la habitación, pero había mucho ruido afuera en el salón. Pero en general fue agredable, solo estaban de fiesta con los turistas.

Uwaga - przestroga! Pokoje "prywatne" są niezbyt prywatne, w drzwiach są okna które ciężko zasłonić, do tego ściany są bardzo cienkie, a to w połączeniu z głośnikiem stojącym tuż obok i zamiłowaniem właściciela do muzyki, tworzy klimat ciężki do odpoczynku. Do integracji jak najbardziej, do odpoczynku i prywatności - nigdy w życiu.Pokoje są w przyzwoitym standardzie, ale nie ma drzwi do łazienki.I UWAGA - kumpel właściciela wynajmuje skutery. NIGDY ICH NIE WYPOŻYCZAJCIE. Ich stan jest tragiczny, my mieliśmy problemy z rozruchem, nie było paliwa, a po około 80km uszkodził się silnik za który musieliśmy ekstra dopłacić. W rezultacie zapłaciliśmy około 250zl za nieco ponad jeden dzień jeżdżenia, wliczając w to haracz za beznadziejny stan techniczny skutera.

Me gusto mucho quedarme ahí. Excelente lugar para quedarte en la noche y viajar por Samaná. Compacto, buen precio y excelente ambiente. Ya se donde volveré cuando viaje para alla.

IT - Economico, pulito, non distante dalla spiaggia, offre abitazioni private o posti in dormitorio condiviso. Uso cucina e frigorifero, buon internet, ambiente familiare, buon posto per fare nuove amicizie. In stile tipico tradizionale, molto originale e accogliente. I proprietari sono giovani e cordinali, offrono un ottimo servizio.EN - Cheap, clean, not far from the beach, it offers private homes or places in shared dorms. Use of kitchen and fridge, good internet, family atmosphere, good place to make new friends. In typical traditional style, very original and welcoming. The owners are young and friendly, they offer a great service.ES - Barato, limpio, no lejos de la playa, ofrece habitaciones privadas o lugares en dormitorios compartidos. Uso de cocina y nevera, buen Internet, ambiente familiar, buen lugar para hacer nuevos amigos. De estilo típico tradicional, muy original y acogedor. Los propietarios son jóvenes y amables, ofrecen un gran servicio.

Lovely and small hostel directly at the main road, quite new in an caribean colourful bambus style. Very close to the beaches, shops, bars and buses. Private rooms with mosquito net and hot water (around $20), dorm rooms (men and women separatewith cold water and mosquito net to rent. Small kitchen with fridge for self service and large common area.

Wonderfull building and a lovely room, however ours was street side and a bit noisy at night. Nice long table to hang around and have breakfast. And the beach, restaurants and supermarkets are only minutes walking away. Super relaxed place.

Great hostel very close to the beach with bars, shops and everything you need nearby. The hosts helped us organise the whale watching tour which was incredible we got to see lots of whales and visit playa Fronton. We met some really nice travellers and would recommend this hostel to anyone else travelling to Las Galeras

El mejor hostal en Las Galleras. Muy limpio, asequible, excelente conexión wifi, personal muy agradable, cerca de tiendas y playas. ¡Mi parte favorita fueron las clases de baile! Recomiendo este lugar!

Ho viaggiato molto ed é uno dei migliori ostelli che abbia incontrato. Posizione ottima nel centro del paese e a due passi dalle spiagge; accoglienza impeccabile di Barbara e Franco; ostello probabilmente unico nel suo genere, fatto in legno e curato in ogni dettaglio. Prezzo competitivo. Andateci, vi resterà nel cuore.

Great place,the owner bárbara Is avery polite AND they treat us líke family.Alexander Is a Great host ,he provide a very good customer experience by explaining every details un the area.Keep in mind that its a place build thinking in the nature of the area,its Is build by natural woods AND art deco.It Is a hostal no a hotel,ir ir are passing by to check the area it Is a good placer to stay.Good price,low budget that allows you to save money to b spend in the locals restaurants and the locals tours..I pay 28 .00 dollars for a doble bed room.if you want breakfast its only for 4 dolllars extra.Internet include AND a Dancing clases sesión,they speak italiano,french,creol,english AND spanish.

En primer lugar, un desastre el dormitorio, no hay ventanas de vidrio y al estar expuesta a un terreno con plantas tropicales, pueden entrar todo tipo de alimañas a la habitación además habiendo dengue y chikungunya en Dominicana son de vital importancia. Encima te alquilan los mosquiteros, la verdad inhumano. Otro detalle desastrozo es que para 20 personas hay un solo frigobar. El Internet es deficiente, porque se llevan al módem de noche. Y ni hablar de la infraestructura del lugar, es todo de madera, carecen de habilitación porque no cumple con las regulaciones de construcción. En materia fiscal, no son regulares, no hacen factura y eso porque seguramente no están al día en rendición tributaria . Evasores! No lo recomiendo para nada. Un día me desperté y no sabía si estaba en un geriátrico o en un hostel, había un señora de la tercera edad hablando en italiano, muy maleducada. Ni hablar del dueño que a mi y a otras huéspedes se nos insinuaba, un acosador sin escrúpulos. Si caminan tres cuadras más encontrarán hosteles mucho mejores en todo sentido. Reitero NO VAYAN!!!! PÉSIMO.

I loved every day that I spent in this hostel. Super cheap, very helpful staff (they introduced me and other backpackers to local guys/guides, super friendly people!). The only downside is that there is no breakfast service.

Quite comfortable and eco place to stay, Barbara is very nice host and the stuffs here are helpful and kind. Location is good and dorm is clean. They dont have hot water for shower.沒有提供熱水但環境舒適且自然，位置很好就在大街上旁邊還有很多雜貨店可以補貨，雜貨店物品價格便宜合理。旁邊樓下雜貨店老闆跟老闆娘人很好。老闆barbata是意大利人，在這裡已經住很久還在大街上開了藝品店。附近就有可以跳舞的地方，週末晚上可以去玩。平日晚上不會太吵但週末會因為舞廳營業到兩點比較有聲音。Este lugar es muy Tranquilo, y para dormir es comodo. No hay agua caliente para ducharse pero el tiempo es muy caliente. Barbara es muy amable y se puede ayudar si tiene algunas problemas.
