Set in the historical Miramar neighborhood, this modest hostel is 3 km from Condado Beach and 11 km from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport.Streamlined accommodations include private rooms with en suite bathrooms, as well as dorms sleeping 4 or 8 with bunk beds and shared bathrooms.Amenities include 2 laid-back lounges and 2 shared kitchens. There are also 2 furnished patios, 1 decorated with a contemporary wall mural.
Great staff and excellent experience!
Apparently there’s no cleaning services in this place, EVERYTHING is covered in mold, dust or simply it hasn’t been cleaned in ages. I’d never recommend a place like this.
Workers are super loud and stay up until 2am making noises and smoking. Smoke wafts into the rooms from the common spaces. Would not recommend to anyone with a sensitivity to cigarette smoke. On our last night, a worker drank my beer that was stored in the fridge - despite it being among my personal belongings in a plastic bag. They clearly went through my stuff and helped themselves to it.The power outlets in the rooms are literally six feet up the wall and basically unusable. I’ve never seen anything like it. We had to find an extension cable to charge our devices. The WiFi is trash and I mostly relied on my phone’s hotspot to use my laptop. The kitchen is severely under resourced. There is mold in the bathroom.I couldn’t find a single one star review of this place that felt like an exaggeration. It’s filthy. Noisy. Smelly. And the staff are generally crude (with a few exceptions since they have a high turnover rate).I’m baffled by the positive reviews of this place. Though, I notice they’re all from 2-3 years ago. Things have definitely crashed and burned here because I cannot relate. Most days I had a hard time understanding who even worked for this place since the staff were so generally unprofessional and I couldn’t tell them apart from the partiers who crashed here. This hostel is stitched together by the absolute bare minimum effort from the management. It’s basically rotting (both metaphorically and literally.)To quote another review, “if I could give this place a 0 star rating I would.”
Please avoid. Violent staff. Rude manager. Owner isnt helpful. Apparently they have a lot of complaints. I have hired a lawyer to complain to the city and mayor.
visiting the island but this hotel is disgusting, everything is falling apart. the administration is horrible they do not help you at all, the sheets smell of sweat and perfume from the previous guest do not stay here, this place should not be offering services if you have children protect them from this place they can get sick .
Certainly not the best place Ive stayed, but was the worse for accommodations, downstairs bath/shower was disgusting, you flush and it seeps out between toilet and floor, shower looked as it never seen a brush or disinfectant, a/c blew cold, water was hot, beds in both rooms to which we stayed was like sleeping on concrete, pillows were flat and disgusting, we did stay 3 nights and got to meet others from different parts of the world, shared stories and adventures along the way... its cheap for sure, and thats what you get, its diffently a no frills place... my wife and I got private room, I can not say, nor to I look into the dorms, the upstairs is a little more pleasant to stay in, but beds and pillows are the same quality up or down....Pedro "pappyshampoo" they call to him is an Amazing young man, Axle is a Awesome and Amazing young man.. they both have a beautiful demeanor within there personality, they made our stay tolerable and as pleasant as they could....
Felt great to be home. I was overly happy to be able to check in somewhere and check on things since the hurricane, would love to come home and clean for future purposes 😉 hard to believe anybody is even over anywhere where the hurricanes landed for vacationing.
Is a hostel just to spend the night. Nothing else.
My Adventure started in December. After 14 days exploring this Beautiful Island, I was lucky enough to stumble on my first Hostel.H1 has been an awesome part of my Journey!Ive made friendship with Travelers that has led to future journeys, from baking cookies on christmas eve, to bringing the new years in with travelers & many awesome times with all the staff. More family style dinners than i can say!Yes definetly the place to recharge. Its been a beautiful Journey!Gracis por todo !!!Try & expiernce the journey & do yourself a favor & stay a week if possible!!Thank you Everyone !!!Hugo, your hostel was exactly exactly 💯👌👌👏Best RegardsHenry Rice2021- 2022 & still booked a few days!!
This place was disgusting. I’ve stayed at budget hostels for $20/night that have been better maintained. For $96 this was an insane ripoff. The bathrooms were absolutely filthy, the downstairs kitchen was falling apart, and the room I stayed in had mold on the ceiling and dirty smears all over the walls. No one asked for proof of vaccination at check-in and there were people walking around hacking up a lung. The cherry on top? As I was packing up to leave the ceiling started leaking.
One of the worst places I have ever stayed. Dirty, filthy. It has a potential and with a little care it would be great place. But owners dont care.
An average hostel with average amenities. The day I checked in, someones laptop was stolen. Even though there are some small lockers the hostel doesnt seem interested in making the place safe and comfortable. Also, theres shady people living there and the environment is overall very unreliable.
Bathroom cleanliness was lacking, questionable sheets, but nice staff
Great place to stay, super friendly people
Considering I was travelling through Puerto Rico as a tourist and was out most of the day, coming back to an air conditioned room was good. Also, the room itself (although smallserved its purpose for the wife and I. However, the bathroom is filthy (bath tub looks like it hasnt been cleaned in years). Very friendly staff. Parking was a non-issue as there are plenty of street parking.
We stayed for all of three hours then found a nice hotel. If i could give it 0 stars I would. The facilities were disgusting. The bathrooms both looked like they hadnt been cleaned in months. Despite the fact that there is still a pandemic, the cleanliness was awful. The bunk beds looked (and feltlike ones I slept on when I was a kid circa 2003, where is the upgrading?! There was 0 AC throughout the building. The pictures of the rooms they show you are of the private bedrooms, not the community ones that house 4-8 people. Never again. This has ruined my experience for ever staying in a hostel again. VERY MISLEADING! DO BETTER!
This place was nothing as shown they need to clean it paint it and get new appliance they were nice but I couldnt even shower because it was too dirty Cleaness is a must. Fix it its a great location.
I flew my bff out to PR for a few nights and needed a place fast and near by to my hotel in Old San Juan. Its right off of a main Street but the residential block is pretty nice. My friend said it was fine. A bed and walls. Bring your own toilet paper she says. The towels and linen are clean. Bring your own pillow she says because theirs are a little iffy. She said the people were friendly and she felt safe. Code to enter building and an attendant was present at the front desk. Smoker and LGBTQ+ friendly with m/f residents. 10 minutes drive from downtown Old San Juan. High key hipster central so 20 somethings looking to travel cheap and have a good time meeting new people may want to consider this place over a traditional hotel or guesthouse/air bnb.
Ive stayed at plenty of hostels around the world and this is by far the worst one. The bathrooms are disgusting and the employees are never anywhere to be found. I got an airbnb for the same price!I suggest people spend a little extra money for a better place to stay
Really nice people working there. Typical Hostel environment; communal kitchen living room etc. Everyone pretty much kept to themselves was quiet. Great neighborhood.
A quick layover, two nights, slept well, coqui helped :Staff was helpful, security good, a place to stay before I picked up my car from Charlie Car and headed to my stay spot.
My kids and I visited due to price advertised online, is a very humble place with one bathroom for many rooms, the beds are too small and the kitchen area have no stove or microwave. The good thing is gated and Wi-Fi have good signal and good air conditioning, after that is no television or radio available. No comfort, no complementary services or shampoo or soap, maybe good for travelers in barely no existent budget force to share expenses, same bathroom and bedroom with others somehow.
This is place has most friendly people in the whole world, the vibe is amazing, the volunteers and owner will always include you in their plans and parties. They have a thing called Sunday funday where they do home make piña coladas and hotdogs for like 3 dollars all together. I loved this place and I’m def coming back as many times as I can.
No separation between common areas and rooms; people hanging out until 5 a.m. Staying here was one of the worst experiences I have had in life.
This place is amazing. Special shoutout to the hosts Anton, Annie and Joe for making this place feel like home.
Awesome place to stay if this your first time to Puerto Rico. The staff is very friendly and people from around the world get to know each like nowhere else!
I had an amazing time at H1 Miramar! It was well located and looked beautiful but most importantly the atmosphere was so incredible!!! Our evening meals were delicious and the vibe was warm and fun, it was great for meeting people and getting to know the city! In particular, Elena Pellizzari was so kind and helpful, and she made my stay unforgettable. I definitely will be going back!
great place!! first hostel Ive been to where they do free dinner and then the volunteers take everyone out every night for some fun
Loved H1! The staff was great and they made us all feel at home. They accompanied us out at night and made sure our stay was the best it could be. Cant wait to visit again
Amazing hostal!Thank you Barbara🇨🇱 for all the tips and help! I had a great time! Its clean, safe and good stuff.
Great place to stay, the staff and volunteers make it feel like family
What an amazing hostel! The room was great, theres plenty of social space, and the staff is fantastic! They were so gracious about showing us around San Juan and were really accommodating with our travel arrangements. I would stay here any time!
Super chill staff and decent location in San Juan. Excellent prices for the budget traveller! Recommend for anyone needing a quick stop close to the airport
Super close to everything (we walked to Condado Beach in minutesand everyone is friendly in the neighborhood, even the people late at night across the street in the park!
Visiting Puerto Rico alone, not knowing the language, not knowing what to expect and also the first time at a hostel...I had the best 3 days of my life.First of all, they make it a Family setting. We all ate dinner together at 8pm every night...AMAZING!!! We had great discussions over dinner and then after dinner we would all go out in the town.ALL employees at Hostel H1 were AMAZING.I have found a new home in San Juan!THANK YOU HOSTEL H1 MIRAMAR!! I will be back soon.I must also add that this is a simple, basic Hostel, no fluffs, no frills. It is the employees here that make the place so great, so warm and together. My room mates were freaking AWESOME as well!!
Cute place to stay in a personal room. Free dinner and breakfast. This is definately a no frills place but easy check in and out.
Natasa and Alex were incredible in reception. Fun hostel. Great dinner. Easy, centrally located. Would stay there again!
Great spot for a good deal, free breakfast and good family group dinner ..friendly staff
Great Hostel! A true family. You get there and everyone immediately welcomes you in. There are family dinners most nights and we all went out to the beach and to Bonanza(Monday nighttogether. The workers are friendly and super helpful, especially Carlos! I absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for the best hostel experience on the island.
The staff at H1 are both professional and laid back. They made my stay very comfortable and I will definitely recommend them to anyone wanting to explore the island.
The hostel staff was really good to all of us. Carlos went above and beyond for hospitality. He made sure all our needs were met and was very professional at the same time. The hostel itself could be cleaner. The sheets were dark blue which was a bit odd to me.Overall good atmosphere and great crowd :)
Awesome hostel, super laid back, but diligent staff. You can make friends here if you want to. I will happily come back here.
Hostel H1 Miramar is simply a gem! The staff are friendly and very helpful. Thanks to Hostel H1 Miramar, Puerto Rico was truly a memorable experience! All the while blissful memories will forever be etched on my heart :)
The staff at H1 Miramar were amazing! They were all so kind and welcoming; they made us Canadians feel right at home. The neighbourhood was great as well - close to so many neat things. Words cannot express how thankful we are to have found this gem! We will definitely be back!!
The best hostel I’ve ever stayed. It feels like home, thanks to amazing staff members. What they do every day basis is amazing. They keep the place very clean, always trying to help guests to have best time in PR, they even take guests out to tour, partying as your friend. And free breakfast and dinner (tip based, subject to availabilitymakes all the guests get close, so perfect for solo travelers. you can always find someone to hangout with during the day, and in the evening everyone rush to go home for “family” dinner. This place became my home in PR. Will be back. Thank you Carlos, Yare, Bryan, and all.If you’re looking for socializing hostel, this is the best on island. Facility is basic but very clean. Neighborhood- it’s in center of all the attractions, old San Juan, La Placitas, supermarket, Marshall’s, coffee shop, restaurants, and clubs. The hostel is located in nice neighborhood area. There are some areas you might want to be careful a bit at night, but you’re always with people while you staying this hostel, never be alone. so that was no issue to me.
Really nice hostel at a fair price to be Im the us. Clean and nice communal spaces, kitchen, the cook an affordable dinner and nice beds.
I had the pleasure of staying at most the hostels in San Juan, over my 5 week trip to Puerto Rico. H1 Miramar and its staff exceeded my expectations and I end up staying two full weeks. Yarelis, the manager, provided extra care to her staff, volunteers and guests. My favorite part was the communal dinners which brought the guests, volunteers and staff together to create friendships, conversations and event planning ;-Definitely, a must stay!
The best spot to stay I spend 3 night paid 250 and 350 I had an bad experience with hotel and motel one of my friend tell me to stay in hostel I was as kind of scare but actually there was nothing I met now family
I stayed here for a week. And this is the best hostel I have ever been to. The staff and the atmosphere is so nice. Anything I asked for they had an answer. Thank you so very much for my stay.
One of the best hostels I’ve ever been to. They were so nice and hospitable. Thank you guys for the wonderful experience.
