Hostel Gallo D'Oro in Suzzara

The hostel is within walking distance from the Duomo, though the neighbourhood can be rather quiet at night. Theres nothing much to dislike about the hostel, considering you get free breakfast and dinner every day. Granted, I stayed about 8 days, so kind of grew tired of the food after the first three days. But for those who are looking to travel on a shoestring, this is the best hostel you can find in Florence! In fact, its the best out of the three Ive stayed in Italy (I was in Naples and Rome prior to Florence).

What to say about this place, I have a lot of memories with this hostel because mostly people live here for a day or two but Ive spend more than a month here make a lot of long term relationships, big hesrt friends from all around the world one of the best hostel is florence who gives breakfast lunch and dinner.. Staff is so much cooperative specially Sonia, If you visit florence dont miss to book this hostel because It is the best one I found, Ive almost visited all the hostels but found this one best.. Highly recommended. CHEERS.

This hostel is no more than six rooms each with six heaped beds with no room left over. The hostel is in the first floor of an old building. There are no common spaces except a small and old kitchen. The pictures in the website don’t match reality. In fact most of them refer to the building entrance which does not belong to the hostel. They offer food but nothing but pasta with tomato sauce. It might be good for a group of teenagers who want to spend a night drinking in Florence, but if you want some comfort there are other, much better, cheaper hotels.

Sonia and Lisa in particular weresuper helpful. Good facilities and free morsels all day were a very welcome touch if youre taking a beating on restaurant service charges, museum tickets or long lines. Id come back!

I think that this hostel is a hidden gem in Florence. Check-in staff were really nice/friendly/helpful. There was one person in the morning at the desk though who seemed like she didnt like being asked questions. And they arent informative about where to buy bus tickets. Its like they dont know where to buy them either. *Shrug* just buy your tickets in advance at the station or at a store.Location is okay, meaning, it is easy to find but you have to walk a bit far. There is a bus stop right at the street but if you dont have tickets...Place is secure and has lots of food and coffee (i love thisand a good common area to hang out in and meet people.Adequate space in the rooms and showers and toilets. Large lockers. They clean the room, change sheets and towels daily. Even have free lotion.There is laundry service which I wasnt able to use. 4 euros each for washing and drying.Overall, great experience. Would surely book this place again.

I wasn’t feeling well so I didn’t stay, but their rooms are tidy and clean(and a balcony!and the pixie haired girl at the reception was very helpful and friendly(and speaks English well). Would stay here next time.

A very good hostel. What I liked the most is that they provide towels, I stayed 3 nights and they even changed it. Besides the breakfast, you can have also the dinner here (they usually provide 2-3 kind of meals). Its not far from Duomo - around 15 mins.

Amazing experience. Although I had a short stay at this cosy little place but this was enough to leave a lasting impact. So much so that whenever I come here or anyone known asks me about Florence, I’ll tell them to go to only this hostel and nowhere else.Very gracious and courteous owner Sonia. Great service. The hostel is walking distance to a lot of attractions, staff members are friendly and rooms get cleaned everyday. I’m super grateful that they provide food and drinks which is amazing because it saved me time and money buying groceries. Thank you for making my stay such a great experience!

This hostel is a really nice place. The rooms are small and simple but very clean and friendly.They have an extra corridor for the female dorms which is only accessible with a door code (except for room seven which is on the general corridor. So if you like to have a real safe space, this is your place.The best thing about this place is the free food that is included all day. They have a little breakfast buffet in the morning, snacks (like sandwichesfor lunch and mostly pasta and salad for dinner. So you can really save some time and money there.The only thing that I think is missing is some kind of common area with couches or some terrace or something where you can just hang around and talk to people. There are some seats and tables where you can eat, but they are all for two people so you basically stay with the people you came with or with the ones from your dorm.Altogether I can really recommend this hostel.

One of the best hostels I have ever stayed in ! The staff was very friendly and provided all meals ! Rooms and bathrooms were spotless.Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed my stay there. Everything was clean and the breakfast was very good. Also the fact that snacks and dinner were included in the price was really awesome. The beds were fine as well even if the top of the bunk beds were a little shaky.

Inclusive breakfast and snacks, free towel, clean rooms and toilets and friendly staffs are the great things about the hostel. One down side is the door to the female dormitory can be quite loud when its closed, especially when there are disrespectful people who didnt bother to use their hands and rather have it being slammed instead. My room was right next to that door so it can be super annoying when people come back late at night. Another thing is the six peoples room is quite small and everyone is very close to each other, so its pretty hard to fall asleep cuz you can hear everything the other person is doing.

Superb. For the price Im paying, i get free food 24/7, beautiful clean ensuite room. They even allowed me to leave my bag for a while before checking in. Toilets are super clean, and the staff are friendly

A sweet little place with kind service and a family vibe. 50s Americana theme and clean. The free coffee, breakfast, and dinner makes this place pretty cost effective. The staff is relaxed and respectful.

One of the best Hostels I have ever been. You can eat anything in kitchen and drink coffee or juices 24/7. Very fair price. Clean. They give you anything you need. Towel, shampoo. And everything for 20€ per night. Its amazing. 11/10 my rate. Thank you.

Good hostel this is great if you are on a budget as you get free breakfast AND dinner. The coffee machine is great with some of the best hot chocolate in the business.This place is kept clean and your bed is made everyday. There are lockers in the room for extra security which is a plus in any hostel. I would be happy staying here again when visiting Florence.

Lovely hostel, comfortable and clean. Friendly staff always ready to help. You get delicious breakfast, simple lunch and dinner. Cafeteria with tea and coffee opened 24h. Our room had air conditioning and shower. Spacious lockers, sockets and lamp at every bed, and you get a towel. Best hostel Ive ever lived

This hostel is a VERY good choice if youre visiting Florence on a budget. Free food buffet for breakfast, afternoon snacks and dinner and perfectly located in walking distance of the busier city center. They also have a female-only area. Beds are made every day and the place overall is very clean. Only thing is that the rooms can get warm during the night and there might be some mosquitos (even in Novemberbut dont let it keep you from visiting because it is a very welcoming place.

I believe Gallo DOro can be named on of the best hostels. Its super clean and provides all the facilities you may need. Plus very friendly staff and a delicious breakfast!

The place is awesome, but they service is even better. Sonia and her staff are wonderful. The buffet for breakfast, snacks and dinner were pretty awesome. The place is always clean, they have laundry machines available and the location is pretty decent. Would definitely consider staying here again!

There is absolutely nothing bad I could say about this place. The staff is amazing and kind and willing to help you with anything you need. The spaces are very clean and they even make your bed everyday and provide you with towels. The bathrooms are very clean and big enough for everyone who needs access. The showers are hot and the water pressure is amazing. They also serve breakfast and dinner which is pretty good when you don’t want to eat out but there is also kitchen space to cook for yourself! This place is amazing and if I ever come back to Florence I will be coming here.

This was a great hostel. The rooms were air conditioned with well built beds and spacious lockers. The shower was high pressure, hot, and towels plus body wash were included. To top it off there was a near constant supply of free food, and unlimited free coffee, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. In terms of location its a pleasant 15 minute walk from the center. Would definitely stay again

I love the hostess of Hostel Gallo D’Oro. It’s a very low key and there’s nothing fancy about this place, but you can’t beat it’s affordable prices. They loan out lockers, towels, AND... affordable onsite laundry machine that has a soap automatically dispensed! Heck! Loved it!

Amazing value, really clean, staff are so friendly, food served almost around the clock is a massive bonus! Also loved the free yoga class around the corner linked with the hostel!

Its a bit hard for me to rate the hostel. Here are things I like very much: plenty of sockets everywhere; free breakfast, lunch and dinner (this was really crazy); free drinks; towel, shampoo and body gel offered; en-suite; reading light beside bunks (too bright though, it turned out we didnt use it when the main light off because we were afraid of awakening who had slept.)Here comes the bad parts: lack of hot shower--not even warm! I took a very cold shower as the water suddenly became iced and no matter how long I waited, there was no warmer water coming at all. The Wi-Fi was either unable to use or too slow to load a page in room 7(worked "OK" in the dining room.Other issue was the location. A bit far from most attractions but it was reflected on the price. I dont view it as a real drawback.Overall, this hostel provided more than I have expected. To be honest, the price wasnt low, but the performance ratio was worthy, especially during the Easter.

Probably one of the best hostels in Florence. The staff is very kind and friendly, they have free breakfast and offer free buffet for lunch and dinner as well. Which is pretty convenient if you are on a budget. It is a bit far from the center but a 15 min walk is enough so no big deal.The lockers are huge! I could even place my backpack horizontally which made getting my stuff a lot more easier. They have a shower in the room and also once outside so no lines.The common room is decorated like a diner so it is very cute. Beds are confortable, the bunks werent squeaky, laundry is accesible and they have soap, shampoo and towels for you.Whenever I come back to Florence I will definitely stay here.

One of the absolute best hostels Ive stayed in so far in Europe. I was in a 4-bed ensuite room, room was very clean, included bed sheets (already installedand a towel. Bathroom was also very clean. Price included a very good breakfast, snacks all day long and a dinner buffet (simple, but free).Would totally recommend.

A little far from the action but that made it a much quieter and cosy stay. Nice staff, and I liked the style and they offer a lot (food, juice, coffeewhile you stay. Very hospitable, thanks guys.

Best hostel in Florence for sure. The city itself is fairly expensive, I saved a TON of money by staying here because Breakfast and Lunch are included buffet style. I paid 17 euros per night including food, I would easily pay that and more for food in town. Clean rooms, small place but dont need much space. All in all pretty perfect

Best hostel breakfast Ive ever had. Lovely staff and building. The hot water ran out and the beds are a bit open (no curtainsbut they did have individual lights and lockers. I would recommend. Also, it was a bit far north of the main areas but an easy 15 min walk.

Ive stayed in the 6 Bed Mixed Dorm and it was great! Each bed has a light, a power supply and an USB port. The locker is big enough for a big backpack. The room has an air conditioning, so u can setup its temperature, and also has a balcony! Free breakfast, dinner, towels, shampoo, soap, citys map! The whole hostel is VERY clean! The location is good, takes u about 15-20 minutes walking to reach the historical center. Highly recommend this hostel!

Absolutely flawless. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and even snacks included in stay making food very cheap if your on a tight budget. Staff were amazing and the rooms were very good. Only thing I wish I knew was how much the city tax is in each place before arrival but that’s not the hostels fault.

Easily my favorite Hostel Ive stayed at during the trip I took (in March 2017), and since then. Its a bit of a walk to get to the center of town but it is so worth it for the helpful staff and good clean conditions to stay in. I was in the female rooms section and it was wonderful, we had our own shared kitchenette with the other rooms and plenty of showers and space to get ready in the morning (including lots of sinks and mirrors!)The co-ed space was also available to us to lounge in and talk to other people who stayed. The breakfast was good and the space was very lively. It was a very pleasant stay, it made me wish I was staying longer!

This hostel was adorable. Hard to find, but once you find it the staff is kind and accommodating, the rooms are clean, comfortable, and quiet. The bathrooms are also clean, and the breakfast is great for a hostel! Close proximity to the tourist attractions in Florence, and overall would happily go back!

Fantastic hostel set in a solid location. It is a straight line south to the Duomo. Tons of amenities are free with the cost. You get free breakfast, a lock, and new friends. Its perfect. No curfew and security is great. In my experience all of my roommates were extremely nice, so much so we ended going out one night together. Beware, it is slightly difficult to find at first. If youre coming from SMN train station take the 1 bus all the way to SantAnna and you will be at the front door.

Nice hostel. They provide breakfast and an evening meal, which was great. Also have snacks and drinks available at all times. Location was very close to city center. Shower was cold but bathroom clean. No safes or security lockers.

Everything was perfect, but the shower was cold like Alaska. Besides that, it was all very good, nice food (included in the price), comfy bed and gentle receptionists. I would come back.

The hostel is amazing. Location is a tad far from the train station but Florence is easily navigable either way. Rooms are quite spacious and comfortable. Food is available 24/7, as is the check in. This is amazing, especially since one can get dinner here as well. Service staff were friendly and helpful.

Very clean, good breakfast buffet and all day buffet! Friendly, helpful staff, very clean, decent beds though pillows are flat (like in every place Ive stayed in Italy), good bathrooms and water pressure, has spacious lockers. Location is a bit of a walk from the main bus/train/center areas (10-15 minsbut its pretty straightforward and not an issue. 24/7 reception and access is great.

Overall an excellent hostel! The free breakfast and food during the day is wonderful. The rooms are very clean and neat. We even got an ensuite and air conditioning! The staff were mostly friendly but there is zero atmosphere. They need a common room or something to make people more social. The location is about 12 mins walk to Duomo. And about 20 mins from the Train station, which is pretty good. Highly recommended!

The location was great and close to major attractions, and the city is walkable from the hostel. The free wi-fi, hot showers, and complimentary breakfast made the stay enjoyable. The staff is nice and friendly and willing to answer any questions. The rooms are average size for a cheap hostel. There is a common area to eat and meet other travelers. However the a/c was out for the 3 nights I stayed, with unfilled promises to fix it. 4/5
