Hostel Café Koti in Rovaniemi
Description
Super cozy place for a winter holiday. We only were in the cafe, they have nice selection of tea, delicious hot chocolate. There is not much nice place to warm up in Rovaniemi but Cafe Koti is certainly the one
MoreI had a great time here! I stayed at another place in town too, which I found slightly cozier (Wherever Hostelbut this place has a lot of things that one doesnt and deserves a 5-star. I would recommend this place to a friend. The location is perfect for the city center. Soooo close to the river! Also a quiet part of the center, not en route to bars (so no noise). The common area is OK, not too large. There is a comfy couch. Kitchen is clean. Feels like typical Nordic clean style decor. Having the cafe downstairs was amazing. The food was always pretty good and I ate there often. Also, lets not forget to mention the free sauna! One of the best perks of this place. The beds werent the best-best... but also not the worst. Id request a bottom bunk, it was always slightly painful for my feet to get up but if youre young it might not bother. The lockers had a helpful shelf on them. Bunk beds had a cool knitted basket so if youre on the top youre not screwed out of storage space.
MoreGreat place with amazing customer service.Super clean, great facilities and even rock samples for traveling geologists in the kitchen.
MoreThe highlight of Rovaniemi for me! Cannot ask for a nicer and more welcome place. Wonderful cafe, very nice rooms, wonderful staff and excellent food.
MoreWarm staff, this place is made with love. You can find all you need.
An amazing experience in the heart of Rovaniemi. Super delicious food and vibes in the cafe. Clean rooms, nice lounge area.
MoreIf you are in Rovaniemi it‘s a great place to stay. Proper and nice designed rooms for a very fair price. The breakfast is good and situated in a very nice and cosy coffee at the ground level. There is also a sauna for use, and on the first floor there is a nice little Bar called Mökki on a terrace. If we come back to rovaniemi we try to stay again in the Koti.
MoreVery cozy place overall. Special mention to the whole staff at the reception: helping, caring, smiling.Great hall, with books, free piano and great lapish-inspired art hanging on the wall. Loved the hanging seats! Very good breakfast. Safe key systems, tidy room and extremely quiet place. Also sauna but for separated genders and there are restricted hours. Would love to get back soon but aint easy from Italy! Good luck, guys!
MoreLovely place for lunch, tasty, healthy food, nice staff and DOG friendly! Coffee and cakes all day long- lovely too.
MoreWe stopped for breakfast after taklng the night train from Tampere. Frendly service and a very nice scandinavian breakfast!
MoreNice staff, central location, good breakfast (best puoro ever)
Good room for a good price. Very friendly receptionist.
A true perfect place to stay whilst at Rovaniemi. Friendly staff, modern and clean rooms, nice sauna, good kitchen to cook should you want to and placed right at the city centre. And of course, the cherry on the cake, their amazing breakfast! Definitely recommended 👍🏽
MoreEverything was good. No tv was also a plus. Excellent staff. Good wifi, enough wall socket to charge your devices. Clean room. Good location. Only one negative point is the breakfast. Not many choices and everyday the same.
MoreIt was a bit expensive for a basic hostel, they said breakfast was included but then charged us 8 euro per person per day on the bill. The breakfast wasnt worth that much and we wished they had been more transparent about the price so we could have chosen for ourselves. Overall a fine experience but make sure to ask for an itemized bill before paying.
MoreVery nice place to stay, and to eat. Great breakfast, very good lunch. Wegetarian friendly :very frendly atmosphere, extremely nice and helpfull staff. We had a familly room and it is a great option with kids.
MoreWe have been their cafe for lunch and it was great! The lunch includes one main dish, salad and bread as well as coffee and tea. I have eaten the fried chicken which was beyond my expectation and definitely worth the price. They also have student discount!
MoreClearly the best hostel I ever been so far! Everything is nearby (obviously for a small town lol), the staff are really really sweet and nice, the breakfast is so good and full (cheese, meat, porridge, fruits, coffee, tea, honey, bread, and so much more). There is a small kitchen and common area upstairs and also a sauna. Bathrooms and toilets and always cleaned and spacious. If I come back to town I will definitely come back here! KIITOS PALJON!! 😀
MoreDefinitely recommend Hostel Cafe Koti for breakfast! We loved their breakfast buffet for our family of 5 and the kids loved the fresh bread, oatmeal and yogurt with fruit. If you stay at the Hostel, breakfast is free but we did not and paid 8.80 euros per adult which is a steal in Rovaniemi. They also post the bus schedule at the cafe to get to Santa Claus Village and were very helpful with tourist information.
MorePerfect place to stay, if you have came for winter activities. Clean rooms, no TV, quiet, good kitchen, all you need for fun in winter are just around the corner
MoreThe rooms were clean, modern and very comfortable, the communal spaces had a homely vibe and the breakfast was delicious and plenty. The check-in process was easy. Thank you for the lovely stay, will definitely be back
MoreExcellent value for money in Rovaniemi. The hotel is very well located in the centre of town, within walking distance of the bus stops to Santa Claus Village and the tour operators. The breakfast is complete. The hotel has a free sauna. The rooms are comfortable and large, the only thing missing is a hair dryer! The restaurant Nabo is excellent. We loved our stay and recommend it.
MoreNice experience, very friendly, and the price is correct for the service. You can have "unlimited" refills on some drink.
MoreAmazing cool place right at Town Square and people are the best 👌. Easy access to all major city spots, bus & train station close by. 10mins cab ride to the airport. Healthy spread of breakfast every morning. Hearty lunch options & the fine dining experience next door.
MoreMost likely the only place to get breakfast on Sundays, except the hotes but opening at 8:00 the modest 8,80€ is a good choise. Roomy and relaxed, this old bank is a nice place to start Your Sunday. Or any other day. And there are drinks also, not at breakfast but at the bar where You can take so called traditional ”päiväkännit” as they close at afternoon.
MoreThe downstairs restaurant is a cozy place for a cup of freshly ground coffee or a delicious lunch. Also dogs are welcome. Hostel services are located on two stories above the cafeteria. On the third floor, pets are not allowed.
MoreFantastic place to stop for breakfast in Rovaniemi. Friendly price, good buffet with few things but all of great quality. We came here after arriving early with the train and it felt just like what we needed. Warmly recommended!
MoreThe hostel has been a former bank branch. Thats why there is a nice and good working air conditioning available. Unfortunately windows cant be opened. The café/restaurant has a small but tasty offer.
MoreNice hostel. Just visited for breakfast, which was quite nice Finnish style breakfast. A basic one, but well made and good. Quite enough for a good breakfast, if you dont need a luxury or continental breakfast.
MoreDid not need the sauna, as the room was a sauna in itself. Windows could not be opened, which also made it a deathtrap in case of fire. Tried to complain about the heat in the room, only to be told that opening the windows would interfere with the "air condition"(?). Luckily; there was a fan in the room; without it we would have been totally unable to sleep. Also discovered that the price of our "superior" room was about the same as the more "posh" hotel in the same street. No refrigerator, no kettle and no TV in the room- so I think you could do better in Rovaniemi...
MoreA very nice hostel, thats very clean. They have a sauna that has 1 hour sauna time for man and woman and downstairs they have a nice a cafe and I would definitely recommend to get the breakfast there.I would have wished that its possible to just came by and get a room, so I am not forced to book online. But otherwise I would stay there again.
MoreBeautiful place! Spent a night in the hostel to recover. Good beds and sauna as well nice common area/kitchen. Still have to adapt to the price level in Finland but yeah😁. The breakfast buffet you can order for q little price in the morning is really delicious and enough choices. It filled me very well and I could travel straight 80km on my board on the same day🤣. Friendly staff and people. Thanks
MoreMy go-to place in Rovaniemi for lunch and working. The lunch buffet is top notch home cooked food. For work calls, Id use the downstairs sitting area as its nice a quiet compared to upstairs during busy times.
MoreClean, basic well-located hostel / hotel. I stayed in a superior twin room which was spacious, clean and nicely furnished. The room has a lot of windows which makes it a bit noisy. Id recommend ear plugs.
MoreStayed for two nights. Rooms were very clean and cozy. Perfect for the price. Staff was helpful as well. Biggest advantage for us was that it was well located and allowed us to walk to the destinations we needed to reach , eg. bus stops. Only comment would be that the lunch buffet could be extended a bit. But what was available was still very tasty!
MoreStayed in a double room and loved it. It was spacious, clean and warm, the breakfast was filling and everything was freshly prepared. The staff are friendly, the hostel is central to the town, surrounded by pubs and a supermarket that ard open until late.
MoreNice and cheap breakfast. 8 50€ includes coffee and black tea. Have oatmeal, yogurts and fresh bread. We booked the morning huskey tour. Pick up is here.
MoreI find the room clean and spacious. It is located in the city and is very near tour offices, restaurants, convenience store and bus stop ( going to Santa Village and the airport). Also, the staff are nice and friendly. I find the breakfast spread delicious and healthy. Our room is located on the 2nd floor and we used the stairs ( I didn’t see any elevators/lifts), the stairs were not that steep but good thing we just had small luggages.
More-The breakfast was not good at all! Very few choices and the food is terrible-The room heater doesn’t work so we told the staff. They kept saying they coming but we have to wait 2 hours. The room was super cold! Unprofessional!!-It’s very hard to walk through doors to our room because we have to constantly press card to open. It’s quite dangerous to use the elevator because of its design
MoreBest stay in Rovaniemi!!!This is absolutely the best hostel i have ever stayed in.The location was perfect, in the heart of the city of Rovanieme, nearby everything, restaurants, adventures offices, shopping centers, bus stations, some touristic spots, 10 minutes from Santa clause village and Santa park, 15 minutes from airport . This means, location is just GREAT.The design of the hostel, cleanliness, maintenance, breakfast is simply, healthy and yummy. 2 options for room, single/double rooms or dorm rooms, i stayed in the 10 rooms, and it was just all i need for this trip, didn’t ask for more. Many showers and toilets in the corridor, Sauna.Last, but NOT LESS Important, THE STAFF!!!Especially “KATJA” from the staff. She was super helpful, kind and always cared that i am enjoying my time and stuff. Just a wonderful woman, you guys from Hostel cafe koti are lucky to have her in you staff:)!!So, if you are looking for a nice stay, cheap, close to everything, clean and comfortable and warm place like home, don’t you dare miss this place:)
MoreNice renovated bank (thanks for the correctionwhich has been turned into a hostel and cafe. Twin room was spacious and clean. The cafe serves a light lunch of soup and fresh salads.
MoreWonderful melting pot experience: Clean, friendly, central, healthy, integrating - just perfect: the hotel is combining hostel, hotel, cafe and restaurant facilities. Therefore it is attracting diverse people with differrent budgets and also locals who go there to enjoy the healty, tasty and reasonably priced meals. If you want to meet interesting people from diverse backgrounds and countries/professions come here! There are many open spaces to talk, meet, enjoy... Sofia and all the other employees are very friendly and committed.
MoreI have a crush with the Café Bar of the Hostel. A trendy café with white interior and lots of natural light. Their self-made menu increases the vibes of home (as koti means home).Their breakfast is delicious and worth of the price, as well as the lunch with tasty soups. Vegetarian friendly menu with a good selection of teas and infusions.I have spent an hour or another hanging out with friends and working here. The staff is friendly and helpful. Student disocunts!
MoreYou get an excellent attention from the staff, they are always aiming to help you and treat you like if you were home. Building and rooms are modern and cozy. If you decide to stay in the hotel meal try the mushroom soup, it is the best Ive ever tasted.
MoreGreat little place to stop for breakfast after an overnight train. They have a hostel but we only stopped for breakfast. Food includes bread meat cheeses, oatmeal, yogurt, coffee, tea, juice. It was about 8 euros a person. Very clean and friendly staff. I would recommended to anyone that needs a bit to eat before seeing Santa.
MoreI love going into the city center to take a coffee or a drink in the Hostel Café Koti! Also the breakfast and lunch is really good. The atmosphere is cozy and the people are always super nice. One of the fancy design places in Rovaniemi I would say!
MoreWow! Nice hospitality, smiles, a small menu with delicious dishes. I suggest to ask for the main dish with different choices, served on a chopping board. Even the water can be tasted in different flavors. Do not miss this place!!
MoreWe visited this place twice while we’ve been in the area. Once for the breakfast buffet and the second time for a dessert coffee and hot chocolate. The first visit was more by accident as it was one of the few places which served breakfast already starting at 7 and we’ve been hungry when we arrived there by train. The breakfast buffet is not fancy but the homemade bread was absolutely amazing. If you like licorice you must taste their licorice hot chocolate.
MoreThe hostel first. Great place. Nice rooms and great service. Nice and relaxed atmosphere. Cool events too. Pretty much all you can ask for.Second the café, which is brilliant. Its becoming increasingly rare to find properly good cafés where they pay attention to detail, make everything in house and dont cut any corners, still maintaining a reasonable price and unpretentious attitude. This is one of those rare places. Good coffee and an outstanding selection of teas, always maticulously brewed. Varying selection of pastries, and the bread, the bread I tell you, you must buy.
MoreSuper friendly staff, very good & healthy breakfast. Good rooms, free sauna. Pretty much one of the best hostels Ive been to, hotel quality while keeping the good things about hostel such as flawless free wifi. Very airy and light
