Horsetooth Reservoir - Reservoir in Fort Collins, United States
Gorgeous views and a great place to soak in nature’s fresh air. Definitely a fantastic place to frequent during the warmer weather, but it’s still beautiful even in the colder months.
The lake is great!
My favorite lake in Colorado!!
Great place for sunrise and sunset photos
This camp on the lake is the BEST #33 lots of trees waters fine..
Horsetooth Reservoir is a an amazing place and hard to believe so close to Fort Collins.Boating, biking, hiking, picnic, fishing, you can do it all here. And the entire area is so clean and quiet, perfect place to chill. Some lots are free and others you have to pay for. Either way its a great natural area.
Price gouging for sure. $20 day pass to put a jet ski on the water? Please. And then we had to sit in a long line so each boat could be inspected AFTER they came off the water. If you’re inspecting before launching a boat then there is no reason to inspect afterwards. We also went on a Monday at noon and there was no parking. Can’t imagine weekends. They ain’t using your $20 to improve anything that’s for sure.
Nice campsite but too much wind. Just the season for it.
Camped out here and it was so relaxing!
Beautiful area. Sad to see how low the water was. There is plenty to do within a day trip around the location. Its close enough to town for supplies and good restaurants. The camping is fine, I wish they had more full hookups though. We really enjoyed the beauty of the area.
Camping at Inlet Bay was great! Right on the water, and spots were spaced out very nice so we weren’t too close to our neighbors. Fires were allowed when we went. We saw several deer, a couple walked right by our site in the evening. Right across the road is a convenience store for ice or beer, etc. it is a short walk. Had a fire pit and a picnic table, several trees for shade.
Its a nice area good camping best to have reservations for camping rates are a little high for non resident
Inlet Bay campground is a favorite for me. Camp host is fantastic, wood truck comes by every couple days, and when the reservoir is full, you can paddle board / kayak right from your site!
Hiking, biking, swimming, boating, sup-ing, sunsets. Just a fun place to be for us locals 🙂
Absolutely ridiculously overpriced. No parking. Rude Rangers. Endless rules. No signs saying what’s where. Only two beaches that are both full by 10am? Ridiculous. Save your money and go somewhere else wayyyy less overpriced and overhyped.
I purchased my fishing license, signed my fishing license, paid to register my boat, paid to register my trailer, paid for a parking pass for my truck, paid for a parking pass for my trailer (🙄), and obeyed what seemed like an endless number of “no wake” zones. The ranger gave me a ticket for driving (wakelessin a “no engine” zone. I showed him that the no engine bouys were ALL half sunk. It was very difficult to see that they said “no engines”. Any reasonable person would have guessed they were just more “no wake” bouys. Very frustrating for a person who sincerely tries to follow all the rules
Quiet and nice but windy and almost iced over as of 1/30/2021. Inlet bay campground is closed but south shore is still open for camping
Worth a drive, the view is awesome. We just happened to be on this route to another destination and took the family back again to look around. Lots of bicyclers and hikers on a fairly narrow road so be extra careful. The places to pull off and look charge a fee but worth looking around.
Great place to camp, water ski, or any other water sports. Nice beaches, and places to dive from on top of high rock formations. Horsetooth also has some nice coves to relax and swim in or fish
Alex, youre a rude little girl. That attitude wont last outside of that little box of yours. Good luck and pray you dont get punched in the face for your snotty attitude, little girl.
Just beautiful! The views are amazing and it was easy to access right off the road! It can get kind of muddy though if there has recently been any rain
Must. See.
Always a great time at Horsetooth just wish it was a little less expensive and a little less busy.
beautiful place to camp, They were able to accommodate her 31 motor home without any problem
Love this place. Nine miles of great water fun. We take our boat there every weekend and wished summer lasted longer
Beautiful nice sized lake, facilities and marina are great! Not too crowded on weekdays but different story on weekends.....
Nice 😍😍
Beautiful location. They have a marina and 3 ramp areas to put-in your boat with multiple lanes per put-in area. Gets busy on weekends and holidays which should be expected but not too crazy. Getting the boat in/out isnt a long wait most of the time. But you can wait a while for put-in on holidays. There are camping spots too and have to reserve them early before theyre gone. And theyre accessible by boat and hike. They are in coves along the western edge of rez.
I live near here. The Reservoir is beautiful, but people, if you come tovisit, dont just leave you trash here. Take it home with you. Also, please use the recycle bins. One of my peeves is that people put trash in the dumpsters, like chairs, blow up toys, etc. Take it home with you, this is not a free trash dump. I live here and so do many people and we live here because we love it, dont ruin it. Thank you and enjoy.
Been boating here for a few years. Truly enjoy the sights and spotting wildlife once in a while. The ramp congestion can be overwhelming for some. Particularly those that choose to prep their boat for launching on the ramp. I recommend arriving by 8am for less congestion at the ramp.
Paddle Boarded on the fringes of the South End, relaxing and so pleasant. HorseTooth is truly a diamond in the rough.
Love that we can pull the boat up to the capsites and just live that way for a few days at a time. Wish it wasnt quite so popular cuz spots sell out early in the year but to be expected- its awesome!
Beautiful area, but it can be really busy on the weekend because it is so accessible from Ft Collins.
Excellent fishing and watersports. Several nice coves to relax in. Nice campgrounds and boat in campspots.
Its a great place to Camp fish hike picnic picnic there are also some cabins a rent there in the South Inlet Inlet be reasonably very nice little cabin so theres no shower restroom in them but its available there at the reservoir get on the internet and make reservations for the cabins are letter Fun very nice place
Amazing views, an absolute must see.
Stayed in the camper cabins a few times. Great to have electricity while "roughing" it, and easy access to nearby shops if you (like mehappen to forget any supplies!
Great place to boat, fish from boat or off shore, camping, hiking, and swimming. It is a must see!
My cousin and I love kayaking here. Its fun whenever there are speedboats or jetskis passing by...it creates waves which makes kayaking more exciting. Kayaked to 2 Coves and it was beautiful. We kayaked further and further whenever we come here, its a nice lake to explore. Parking is $7 and therere plenty of them even on weekend. There are picnic tables, camping sites around the area. You can rent kayak and paddle boards here too.
What a stunningly beautiful place this is. I have visited twice now and enjoyed the changing views from summer to winter. The camp sites are well serviced with good spacing between pitches and this makes for an atmosphere of peace and relaxation. The water always looks inviting and the boat launch facility at the South end of the reservoir is very large and well run.The impressive cliff face which gives the reservoir its name is best viewed by walking down one of the footpaths on the East edge of the water. These are rough pathways and not accessible to those with walking difficulties though. All the parking places along the East bank of the reservoir provide spectacular views at all times of the year. It’s close proximity to downtown Fort Collins makes it an easy escape to enjoy some peace or exercise but it never seems to be crowded.
Beautiful reservoir, but challenging to gain access to the water. Its really weird looking with so much water drained out.
I love this place. The lake, the camp grounds, hiking, swimming. Everything is so beautiful. Great place right in our backyard. Most everyone else has to drive hours to get to enjoy such a wonderful lake and setting.
Beautiful place. Go during the week if you want to enjoy water sports. Weekends good for dropping anchor.
Huge area and allot of fun. But I have yet to catch a fish here. Looks beautiful here and allot of things to do. Its a big deep res,,, so fishing is hard
Such a beautiful setting and body of water rendered pedestrian at best by the throngs of speedboats and jet skis that clamor to compete for the daily title of "Whos Louder & More Offensive Than Me?"If you enjoy shore fishing, canoe paddling or processing thoughts this might not be the lake for you. The swim beach is non-existent. Its comprised of dirt and jagged rocks.Unquestionably, there are some great panoramic views to enjoy here. Perhaps experienced best on bike, horseback or on foot at Lory State Park.In sum, Colorado Parks & Recreation might think to require some muffling of the noise emitted from the vehicles within this beautiful mountain getaway. Its tending more toward Bandimere Speedway than a public recreational gem its supposed to be.
Upper full hook up sites are well spaced and prepped for RVs. Wonderful views and a quiet campground with reasonable rates. There is a daily entrance fee of $7 that I wasnt aware of, in addition to the camping fees. Seems a bit ignorant since you cant camp without a rig to get you there, but the county gets their share
We been there for three trips and stayed in their cabins. They are directly on the lake and spacious for a camper cabin. Its not fancy but the location makes up for it. It has electricity, AC and heat. There is direct access to the lake for fishing and the cabins are pet friendly. They also have an Aerostream for rent that is pet free. We just had one bad fishing experience, when the lake water level was lowered late in the season around September and we could not fish at the cabin. The Rangers and staff are friendly and helpful.
Horsetooth Reservoir is great for an afternoon of hiking! If you are visiting Fort Collins it is an absolute must-see in the area.
For cabin "camping" for a young family. We had a great time with the kids and the cabins are perfect and well suited for cabin camping. Definetly bring some sort of water vehicle, and park it right at your cabin!
I rated this a 2 because I have to leave room and compare to other lakes to visit.Horsetooth Reservoir is a good lake to visit. We go there quite often. The only bad thing about the lake is that the Rangers can be ridiculous at times. They will sneak up to your camp at night and freak out your dogs. One night last year, the Ranger guy snuck up to our camp and our dog nearly bit him. Of course it wasnt his fault... right lol. but for the next two days, we were harassed by the whole regime. Our best friends actually have a slip on the lake, and they run into problems with them all the time too.Just keep your dogs at home and go to bed by 9:59pm... youll be just fine.
