Locally-grown, organic produce is transformed into inventive dishes, with special evening dinners.
This is a lovely little community cafe.
Horrible volunteer called Marion/ Maryanne, she picked on me constantly, while I was trying to help out at Peoples Kitchen,She picked on me because of the way I look, I know I am ugly, but I dont deserve to be treated so badly, Marion/ Maryanne is not good looking either, I dont like the way she looks, I dont like her appearance, but I would never treat her badly because of it.I am going to make this a public matter, because I suffer social anxiety and i dont need to be bullied.
Excellently designed website ; very professional and informative.👏
Their food is incredible and such a great place to be.
Outstandingly delicious sandwiches, good coffee, friendly staff, and welcoming ethos (it has price options based on what you feel you can afford). This community cafe is a total find, highly recommend..
Really tasty vegan food with a sliding price scale; pay what you can afford!
Gleaners Cafe is extremely popular in a bustling Bakers Arms world still not up there about the earth in danger. The vegan meals are freshly prepared and lovingly presented by table attendants who memorise customers first names. You pay what you can and one should not forget something for the volunteer workers pockets. Many I mix with reckon its too posh for them.. Nonsense. Go see for yourself and check out creative works Everyone is valued and seen to
Delicious vegan food Thursday to Saturday. Cakes, tea, coffee, kefir, kombucha, and even builders tea! Sliding scale, pay what you can afford.
Best vegan brunch I’ve had in London. Very tasty
Warm, friendly and inviting atmosphere. Tasty, wholesome food!
So happy this place is open as a cafe again. (Thurs,Fri,Sat)Lovely community feeling, everyone welcome.Wonderful kind service.Great hearty food options, we had a vegan shepherds pie and a tasty curry for lunch along with a slice of cake and a cuppa.
I came here on a Saturday with my family as I had heard a lot about it. The cafe is quite small but it is so welcoming, cosy and warm. It was busy when we entered but we didnt have to wait for long until a table was free. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. There is a nice family type vibe at this cafe as regular customers were coming in. We ordered two soups and a brunch dish which included tofu scramble, sausages and a chickpea fritter. It was absolutely delicious. The price was also very reasonable :Everything here is vegan and they have a good variety of cake, raw food and hot food. I would definitely come here again!
Hats off to the pakistani chef in there, I think her names is nosheen. Her food is amazing and shes so sweet!!!
Very disappointed we use to come to Hornbeam as my daughter is vegan. You cannot eat inside just a couple of chairs outside. They say dine-in or takeaway but you cant say this on your website when it is not true. Wasted journey really annoyed.
Nice location by the canal. Good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Food overpriced and not that tasty
Great cafe they help the local community so much aswell its great cafe with delicious food a valuable asset to walthamforest
Fantastic people and atmosphereFood is delicious and this kitchen helped me and my family to move to vegan diet. Thanks
Great community, doing great work to serve those in need. Gives free lunch on Mondays.
Too laid back..went today for lunch.Very quiet.Waited a few minutes then left as person serving at counter too busy chatting away to someone. All he had to say was Be with you soon Not even that.Quite rude really.Felt ignored
Me and friends always go here on a Monday. The staff are just lovely and polite. You pay any money you want for amazing food with no judgement. Just a great atmosphere. Definetly try the cold oat latte, its one off the BEST!!On Sundays is owned by #whatthefattoush. We also go here for breakfast. And I need to say, they have a great selection for vegans and vegetarians. The owner is lovely. I remember the card machine no working and the next time I went here, the owner offered me a peice of cake to apologise.Thank you for being a great community cafe!!! ❤️
A lovely cafe with great vegan food and excellent coffee.Their decor is great and service was friendly and fast. Will definitely be visiting again.
Lovely soup and main course. Had a good old chat. Meet with a few people from the old Sallys kitchen. Gorgeous chocolate cake.Great. Many Thanks.
Went midweek for lunch. Cafe wasn’t busy. First time there, disappointingly was not made welcome at all. The staff member wasn’t rude as such more non-fussed about us. Tables were messy as people had just left. We ordered and then waited 45 minutes for two falafel wraps. The food quality was excellent but I was so frustrated about the service. Poor welcome, no communication through out and no apology for the long wait. Will I go again? Not I that staff member is there. Sorry.
I had stew, sourdough bread, an oat latte, and it all tasted amazing! The staff were super friendly too.
I just love this cafe. 25 years part of the community! I went along for supper, a pop up kitchen - and it was Marlis Kitchen. Vegan Soul Food. The Brazilian Black Bean Stew was delicious. It was all the extras that totally smashed this dish. Sliced plantain, mint and lime slaw. The homemade Mango Hot Pepper sauce...that was magic. This pop up restaurants change frequently. Check before you go.
Lovely service and good organic vegetarian /vegan food
Had a great chat with a regular who helped me understand the food being sold. I have recently been told to avoid wheat and gluten so went in for some ideas for cooking. Lovely atmosphere defo going back again. Ps: took my leftovers 😋
Always leave feeling very satisfied indeed. Myself and my wife are regulars for breakfast and for evening meals and are always blown away by the amount of flavour and colour in our meals. 5/5 all day long!
@whatthefattoush cook and absolutely amazing spread! Jess the chef and Meg in front of house run a tight ship. Ive got anlot of time for that, mate! AND its for a good cause!
Was very excited to try this local vegan cafe but was left disappointed. We ordered the fry up and the Palestinian breakfast. We ordered at 13:00 and dlikeidn’t get our food til 13:45 which was a long time especially when there was only a few customers in the cafe so it wasn’t busy at all. We had to ask multiple times when our food would arrive and kept being told “a few minutes” but we ended up waiting 45 minutes. The breakfast itself lacked flavour and also didn’t arrive piping hot like it had just been cooked which i would have expected. The sourdough was hard, the tofu scramble was seasoned with too much salt and the beans tasted very sweet which i did not and the seasoned fried potatoes lacked flavourwhen paying, we explained to our waiter that we waited 45 minutes. She seemed surprised that we waited that long when she was certainly aware as we asked her more than twice when our food would arrive. She offered to take £4 off the £25 bill which i feel like was not enough for how long we waited. It’s great to see a local vegan cafe but i would not be going back again nor would i recommend.
Amazing little cafe with vegan food! Loved What The Fattoush. Sososososo good!
Outstanding vegan food that has just got better and better each time Ive been. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Love this place!
Tasty kale caesar salad. Tortilla w caramelised onion cauliflower dip and beetroot and mint dip. My friend had black rice pudding. All tasted delicious. Will be back to tray more dishes. Great local find
Fantastic little cafe with tasty food and great service. I was on a detox for 5 days and wasnt sure what to eat but this cafe was very helpful. The food was great and filled me up for the day.
Fantastic little local cafe promoting sustainable and local produce. The vegan cooked food and cakes are delicious and youll be greeted by friendly staff. On Saturdays they have a fruit and vegetable stall with local produce not to be missed.
I really wanted to love this place. A local vegan community cafe on paper is right up my street, and great for the area. Also the people who work there are so lovely. Unfortunately the truth is that the food is plain bad. Ive been in a few of times to order different things wanting to give it another chance but everything has been bland, the cakes too dry and the breakfast too watery.
Amazing vegan food and atmosphere. This place is a hidden gem. Staff outstandingly caring, a must visit.
Super cozy and friendly vegan spot. The lovely lady behind the counter made us freshly squeezed juice and a delicious iced latte. The lemon cake is a must!
I love this place. Its one of the oldest places in Walthamstow offering vegan and vegetarian food. Try the Vegan English breakfast and scrambled tofu toast. They are my favourite here. Check out their vegan treats, muffins and Cake. You will not be disappointed. All created with locally sourced products.
Great coffee and food! So good to have a vegan cafe just around the corner. Lovely place
Nice chilled place with a community atmosphere and a great soup, not many vegan foods in the area, so I am very happy with service and food
Brilliant little Cafe. Food is great and they accommodate my meals to smaller portion with no questions asked. Becoming a regular here.
Three different breafasts/ brunch.... All delicious. Freshly squeezed fruit juices and tasty coffee to set us up for the day..... Good humoured staff....
A nice community cafe offering mostly vegan fare that is decent without being exceptional or especially imaginative. Reasonable pricing and good portions though, and they get an extra star for their genuine ethical commitment.
Great vegan home style cooking . Cosy friendly atmosphere.
The veggie breakfast was just bland and lacked flavour, as well as having taken them 30 minutes from when we placed an order. Otherwise the venue is cozy and relaxed, and prices arent bad.
Incredible food - delicious and healthy! The place is a real community hub - in a genuine and meaningful sense. A real asset to the area, with lots of local events hosted. Plus, you can refill your environmentally friendly cleaning products here too. Brilliant.
If youre used to small mom and pop places around Williamsburg, NY or San Francisco/Santa Cruz bay area that serve gourmet coffee youll love it! They know how to steam milk and make a proper barista cappucino. They serve food from what local farms have available that day. They only take cash, tho.
Just returned from the place; it is small but warm. The veggie English breakfast brunch, however, was underwhelming to say the least. The price is OK (£6but the food is nothing special. You only get 1 egg, no b&sq, no tomato, roasted potatoes not very good (no hash browns), beans whatever... The 2 veggie sausages were OK. The brunch doesnt even come close to the one we recently had in No67 cafe in Peckham (you pay a few quid more for a truly amazing veggie or con carne breakfast). Our daughter had a slice of an average sized potato pie - they charged us £5.50 for it which I thought was ridiculous. Also, no freshly squeezed juice, which I think is a must for a place that wants to be taken seriously.
Upon arrival, I felt a warm welcome from the staff. It has a cozy touch it, and is relatively spacious. The food served is delicious and healthy. They serve 100% vegan food , using mainly organic produce. I would recommend this place to anyone.
