Hope Zoo in New Kingston

My family and I enjoyed Boo at the zoo very much and looking forward to next years event.

Great day out, the parrots are the stars of the zoo, Major Lazer, RC, and the delightful Tinkerbell or twinklebell put a great big smile on our faces.

My children were excited to the animals but i was dissapointed as they were unable to see the lion in his full glory...all they saw was his tail. Also the monkeys were really small

Lovely environment. Animals in good condition. Suitable for kids.

Zoo is well designed incorporating foliage. There are numerious trees thereby keeping the place very cool. Excellent upkeep of landscaping and plants. There are numerous benches and picnic tables for resting and relaxing. Good variety of animals. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit. On our departure we visited the restaurant "Pages in the gardens" which is in Hope gardens and had a lovely time there as well.

The zoo was bigger than I thought. I enjoyed seeing the variety of animals that was there the Lions were being fed as we walk through. I loved the trees that was on that space.

This was a childhood moment relived when my family. The animals looked well and th grounds are immaculately kept as staff tend to different areas. Kudos to the staff and entire management who are doing an excellent job of bringing pieces of the world to Jamaica.The play area was not limited to children as adults, including myself, made great use of the swing and other equipment ☺️

Calm educational stroll for adults. The interactive camel and budgie feeding were great to experience. Well-equipped play area for the kids and kid at heart. Lots of seating areas to relax. Well-maintained and pleasant employees, especially Andre who oversees the camels.

Visited here on Emancipation Day with my son who was absolutely ecstatic about this outing. $1,500 for adults & $1,000 for kids (2-11). We explored the zoo on our own but I think we would have enjoyed it more had it been a guided tour. Lots to see & its pretty easy to end up going around in circles & still not seeing all the animals. With all the activities they offer, my son was only able to partake in feeding the barn animals, more specifically, a goat because: 1. The cows had just eaten. 2. Petting, another activity, is only accommodated on Saturdays and Sundays (we visited on a Monday). 3. When the tuckshop attendant tried radioing to see if we could feed a budgie, no one picked up.... My son enjoyed visiting though so that made the trip worthwhile.

Lovely place to take the little ones. Staff are pleasant. Suitable grounds for picnics and just laying on the grass. Little play area for the kiddos as well

I visit hope zoo on Monday August 1,2022 with my family. There was no one there to show us around. We had to be the ones showing ourselves around. Half of the animals where sleeping and I was so excited to see a alligator only to see a turtle in its position. The swings were dirty.. The place is beautiful but needs better customer service and more animals. Disappointed I drive for about 3 and a half hours for that.

The zoo was peaceful, felt like another world from the busy and loud Jamaica. Not alot of animals to see, was able to view them all on about and hour moving slowly. Not alot of people there, the kids enjoyed using the park. The little snack shop, the food wasnt the greatest and we waited about 30mins for fires and nuggets. Didnt mind the wait the kids enjoyed visiting the bunnies while waiting.

Took a 7 yr old to the petting zoo.... the young man and young lady were soooo gentle with him... they understood he may have had some trepidation and dealt with it admirably. They learnt his name and addressed him accordingly. Was very gentle and instructive with the goat feeding..... Over all a great experience here.

It was very interesting, the Lioness and lion look healthy and fed, they have alot of 🦜 of different variations . I never saw the 🐒, or zebra, lol, but it was still fun regardless. The food center closes at Jamaica time 4pm( p.s. I live in Germany for now, because it is my place of dutybut go check it out for your self. Blessings upon you who reads.

Hope Zoo is the perfect place to spend a day relaxing with nature. The grounds are impeccable the animal enclosures well maintained. Just bring along the family or not ☺️ picnic basket and a blanket and just chill for the day. Be at one with nature, relax, rewind, regroup.

The correct information wasnt given on phone, we were told to pay $2500 for a guide, plus you would have to go back to pay to interact (feed/petanimals. Unlike other places I have visited, I was gravely disappointed. The tour guide a 10 tho

The surroundings were pristine. Very clean and well kept. I found the entrance fees expensive. Adds up quickly for a small family and I was expecting a wider selection of animals, but all it all a nice place to kill an hour or 2.

Loved the experience. The enclosures are well kept, the interactive activities with the animals are reasonably priced and the walkway is very shaded and paved all around. The posters on each animal are informative and the animals look like they have enough space in their enclosures to be comfortable. They also look well enough fed.They also have friendly staff and some shops where you can buy snacks at. Bit pricey but reasonable given the circumstances. Great spot to take your kids and to hang out with friends and family, or as a fun date spot.

It was a breath of fresh air. The play area was fun and seeing the animals was awesome.

Awesome place for children and family. It has a nice little playground for kids, and just walking distance is a lovely nature park fill with flowers for all to see and enjoy. The animals hibernate could use some improving.

They have improved drastically which makes it more welcoming and all age-friendly. We all enjoyed our time.Most say that Im going to walk with a bag next time to get more Bombay mangoes at my entrance fee coat (free.... Eat what we grow😁).My only issue is why do I have to pay for parking when Im going to park at the zoo location and pay an entrance fee?

The only reason I did not give a five is because the zoo is loosing reptiles and animals alike. I wish them all the best. I have not entered this place in over 30 years and the property was clean and beautiful. Apart from the sounds of the Macaw birds it was tranquility at its finest. Jamaicans need to step up and patronize the only zoo this side of Ja.

It was entertaining and fun. The kids were having a blast seeing the animals. The lions were great and actually walked around and gave us a show. The zoo was clean and I was happy to see some new animals frkm the last time I went. My favwere the lion and the lioness, the kangaroos and the ostriches.

The customer service at hope zoo was excellent , I enjoyed the vegetation of the land❤❤🍃🍃. However, the zoo needs more animals and birds. But otherwise it was good.

I loved this place from I was a child, I can remember my mother taking us there. Its very beautiful; the flower, the animal and everything about the place is an adventure. Its great for wedding, school trips, a picnic or just a day out. My children enjoy visiting whenever we are in Jamaica.

Went there when I was about 15 years old. My experience now is different from back than.I think they had more things there then, however it was really a good experience to my children.

Beautiful gardens and gorgeous animals. An ideal place for children and families to relax and play.

If you want a great kids friendly day, visit this hidden little gem. You get to interact with Zebra and Beautiful Birds and so much more .

It was a really fun experience for me and my family though we were disappointed that majority of the collection of animals were birds. But the play ground and the food and drinks bar was a definite highlight.

My first visit to this zoo with my family! Do not underestimate this place reserve at least 2 hours for exploration.Pros- Large terrain to cover thus lots to see!- Lots of exotic animals- Petting Zoo especially great for kids- Relaxing environment… you forget you’re in Kingston- Lots of rest and relaxing stationsCons- Limited parking- Lions will only be up and about around feeding time ~ 3pm

Great place to go. Needs a bit of maintenance. I hope that corporate Jamaica and other organizations locally and international can help in the development of this Zoo. Went there with my son and I definitely enjoyed myself. This is a place for the family and also a mental health getaway with nature and animals. I would recommend to any and everyone!

Great zoo team, nice animals with the fact board. Nice to do nature walks, plants are amazing. Wonderful experience for the family, children and adults

My spouse and I took our 2 year old son here and he absolutely had a blast. He did not want to leave but we were so beat. He was actually crying not wanting to leave so we will definitely return soon.The zoo itself is very impressive. First time visiting in YEARS and I must say I love the changes and improvements made with this new management.All the animals look super healthy and happy. Ive been to zoos in other countries and in comparison, our zoo is in top notch conditions now.I didnt give it a 5 star because of the poor customer service we received. I think the employees name was Ms Levy or something close to that. She is a supervisor or have some manegerial position. I am absolutely disappointed in how a matter was handled by her. We visited about 2 weeks prior and paid to go in however it was pouring rain and we literally stood by the entrance for an hour waiting for the rain to stop. It didnt and so I requested a refund but the cashier said she could only give me a gift card. The gift card would expire the last day of the same month. We returned before it expired but with 2 less individuals and explained what happened and asked to have my refund or another gift card for the other persons. However Ms. Levy in a rush came up and just said no because we didnt pay and it is a gift card and that is how it goes. HELLO WE DID PAY AND THAT IS HOW WE ENDED UP WITH THE GIFT CARD.There was a line behind us so in trying not to delay everyone I did not contend and this employee was at the top of her voice and I did not want a scene so I retreated and accepted my loss at the moment. She was very rude but I realized she was not like this with the customers behind us who were caucasian. Being a small black Jamaican family...again, we are treated unfairly and disrespected by people in businesses we support!

I have been going here since i was a kid and i am in love with the upgrade. My son gets to run around and interact with and be in aww of the animals. The air is clean, the zoo is clean, the animals are beautiful and well taken care of. Oh and they have a play park for the kids....awsome!

It was great. The animals were beautiful and there are alot of attractions, however its quite a walk around so wear comfortable shoes. Say hi to the Macaws for me, and make sure to check out the reptile house and if you brought kids, let them ride a pony or go pet sheep. Worth every dollar. And dont leave without watching the Lion and the Lioness.

The Hope Zoo has done a lot of work to make the place more entertaining and animal centric. Great educational program on the animals especially our native species. Wonderful open air space, proper Covid-19 protocols in place, social distancing. Food and drink available. They also do events.

We spent 3 hours in the zoo and absolutely enjoyed our experience. Its a a little sad that a few, like 4, animals had died, but the experience in the petting zoo - holding and petting the crocodile, the snake and feeding the sheeps and Candy the goat - certainly add to it. There were also several peahens and a peacock roaming freely which added to the experiemce. The lions were much livelier than last time and their roar was heard throughout, and that also added to the thrills. Plus, the number of birds greeting you with "hello" as you passed by certainly made us feel welcome. Theres a kiosk for snacking inside the zoo and a play area for toddlers and older kids probably up to 10/12.

Beautiful scenery and friendly staff. Animals are well taken care of and the atmosphere is just perfect. I enjoyed it man.

Big and beautiful! The place was missing more animals and directional arrows, but do definitely recommend visiting. A few "popular" animals are there, but would have loved to see a tiger and a few other. However place is well kept, and ambiance is amazing. As nature lover, this is a must visit.

Hope Zoo, what can I say except its absolutely beautiful. This was my first time visiting after 20+ years, looks smaller than I remembered but still a beautiful place to visit with the family or that special someone. The gardens are well kept, my only disappointment was seeing that main fountain not working, as a child growing up that was the spot to take photos, but overall it was a wonderful feeling being back at hope Gardens.

They’ve made significant improvements to the layout. When last I went I was a high school student doing volunteer work after a hurricane resulted in some damages. Took my wife and child. It was worth the trip! Beautiful layout and a lovely selection of animals.

Frequent visit for us, the ostrich looks a little ill missing some of his feathers around his buttock area and the mini horses. Huge burmese python, go in the afternoon all the animals are more interactive even the lion and lioness. Fairly New addition are the kangaroos, love the pair and their newborn! Clean environment always.

I had a pretty decent experience here. Havent been to the zoo since I was a child more than 20+ years ago and I must say it was still enjoyable as an adult. Its lush and beautiful, well maintained and clean. I didnt even expect to see so many areas for picnics and seating. I must say though, more animals are needed. While the number of them there is decent, its mostly birds. I think maybe I arrived a bit late as well, because the bigger animals were in a smaller second cage instead of the bigger one which made it difficult to see some of them. Overall my experience was delightful.

Great location, grounds imaculately kept, and gazebos are available to sit and eat or even have a get together. No outside food or drink is allowed even after paying the admission price and if you require a tour guide that is an additional cost.

Its an okay place to take your children or siblings. The animals are rather limited, but they do have a good variety. (Mostly birdsTheres a lot of tiny mosquitoes unfortunately. The Buddha statues could use a good cleaning though. Theres a few restaurants over there, so thats convenient. The only thing I hate is that the bars that keep you from the cages are too far out and children have to be lifted to see some of the animals.

Awesome! Great plave for animal lovers. The zoo is completely different from my childhood experience.; Its much better now.Most of the animals are friendly and allow you to touch them.The petting zoo was my daughters favorite part of the dayThey allow you to have birthday parties right next to the lions cage, awesome!

Beautiful grounds, but they are not organized as it relates to the tours. We were promised one thing and given another.The original hostess had an attitude and thats not right.The restaurant didnt not cater properly for our group yet the park does not allow you to bring outside food and drink.The management of hope zoo needs to do better.

A beautiful well-kept zoo with a family friendly atmosphere and easy to navigate layout (sort of set up on a ring road). Great abundance of birds such as flamingoes, ostriches, emus, parrots, a few reptiles like snakes and crocodiles, and mammals such as the lion, bobcat, capuchin monkeys and zebras. Still room for improvement in the number of animals available but all in all, an afternoon well spent. Cost $1,500 per adult, $1,000 for children.
