Popular narrated trolley tour with 11 stops such as Old Town, Balboa Park & Gaslamp Quarter.
We had a great experience with the Hop on Hop off trolley in San Diego. It was a useful way to get around and see some great sights! All of our drivers were entertaining and we learned a lot from them. Would definitely do this again the next time were in San Diego.
It’s about a two out tour around the city, the drivers are fun, funny, and full of knowledge. Any seat is a good seat, bring water bottles along the drive, and keep your phone or camera charged for many pictures
Second time using this service. Great way to get around and see different parts of the city. I do wish they ran a bit later into the evening. Hard to have dinner and be able to catch the trolley again.
Loved the hop on hop off trolley!!! Their staff r super friendly and knowledgeable. We approached their booth and told them of the attractions we were interested in, and they were able to find discounts n tix for us so we can save $ and skip the lines at ticket booths. The trolley drivers were ALL VERY VERY friendly and energetic! Dunno how they can keep up wif talking non stop all day long, kudos to them! 👍👍
Very helpful. Gave me step by step directions to the nearest stop, close to my hotel.
Great way to see San Diego in a day. We started our tour in the old town. My favourite stop was Coronado, we went into the hotel and walked around the gardens very nice, then a quick paddle in the sea. Another stop we enjoyed was the midday museum, we carried on walking to seaport the next stop (15 min walkthen hopped back on the tram. Didnt like the Gaslamp area. Unfortunately didnt have long enough at little Italy as last tram to leave this area was 4-20pm. We had a few drivers all very knowledgeable and funny. Would recommend.
Today was our second time signing up for a one day adventure on the hop on hop off San Diego. In 2019 the tour was perfection from start to finish. Today. Not so much. We started out about 9:45 this AM and the first trolley was full, so waited about 15 for a second after the travel agent called a “ code yellow to gas lamp.” But this set the theme for the day. At balboa park we waited over an hour for a trolley. This really cut down on the things we did and then we missed the last trolley at stop B and had to walk 45 minutes back to our VRBO. I would think it is simpler math for the powers that be at trolley world to know how many people are riding and how many get off at stops. I was also sadly miffed at people pushing their way to the front of lines and not being respectful of those who were in line ahead of them. At Balboa an older lady was there first and when one trolley only had space for a single rider some young guy hopped on despite a couple and our family saying she was first. We did have GREAT drivers. Shout out to Goose, James and Deb. Well done to each of you. Not sure that I would recommend. They happily took our money and did little to make it a memorable experience. If I hear the term code yellow one more time it will be too soon!!
Great way to tour San Diego. Very informative and all the operators had a great sense of humor.
Trolley drivers very informative. Some better then others.
Fantastic, good route Fantastic drivers and guide.
We visited San Diego from Liverpool England in June/July this year.We got on the Trolley bus in the Gaslamp Quarter, we didnt have tickets so we told our driver Goose who said we could purchase tickets at the next manned stop. My partner spoke to Goose at the Coronado stop and asked if he had time to pay for our tickets, goose said yes sure, once my partner stepped off the Trolley Goose closed the doors and took off with me still in our seats! All of the other passengers shouted to him that he had left someone behind, Goose said he was on a schedule, and that my partner had said he had all the time in the world this was a complete lie.Goose wouldnt let me off the trolley, and shouted at me for attempting to leave my seat. (I do appreciate this is a safety rule)but he made no attempt to help the situation. The trolley employee who was at the manned booth phoned Goose to let him know he had left my partner behind, but he took no notice.I eventually got off and walked back to try to locate my partner, not a very good start to our trip to San Diego! This incident was completely unnecessary and caused by poor decision making by Goose, who it would appear lives up to his name. 0/10 for this service.I did fill in and post your blue card for feedback leaving my e mail but heard nothing back so felt I needed to write a review of my experience.
Their information person was very informative about their tour service; we couldnt use because no tickets were available.
EDITED TO 5 STARS. I sent the company a second email reminding them that we live 2000 miles away and these were extenuating circumstances. Today my mother informed me that she did receive a refund. I feel this was good customer service so I have changed my review. We purchased tickets for 3 of us to do the trolley tour while we were in town for a family wedding. Upon arriving at the airport, my 70 year old mother fell down the escalator and was hospitalized. I emailed the company to ask for a refund, since the tickets specifically say "a photo ID matching ticket user name is required", which was my mother, who would definitely not be able to join us if we did go. I explained that she was in the hospital, that we were only in town for a few days or until she was released from the hospital, and that we live 2000 miles away, so we would not be returning within the year to be able to use the tickets. The response I got was "unused tickets are non-refundable". Its not like we just decided to do something else. There were extenuating circumstances. I was really looking forward to the trolley tour, but I will not be giving this company any more of my money next time we are in San Diego. I didnt feel like this was very good customer service.
We got to see pretty much the whole city using the hop on hop off service well worth it.
Fun and informative city tour with knowledgeable guides. We enjoyed the opportunity to hop on hop off and visited several stops. Its a quick way to get oriented in a new city.
Enjoyed being able to get on and off the trolley and see all the main spots in one day! I found the tour guides to be very entertaining and full of knowledge. I learned so much!
Best way to explore different part of San Diego. Make sure you switch enough buses to get the best narrator
So much fun. Definitely a must when visiting San Diego. If you’re a planner, this helps to add spots to your itinerary and it beats having to pay for multiple Lyfts/Ubers to get to these locations. Great deal!!!
Really a good experience with hop on hop off trolley with old town trolley tours. They have multiple stops throughout San Diego which makes it convenient to explore the city well. The tour guides know so much about the city and all local places , they guide you throughout the trolley tour.
Website needs information on first trip with times of arrival, waited an hour for a trolley at the Park. Last trolley to early leaving for Old Town.
Wonder drivers had a great time
Easy way to get around. The map could be better. Not everyone is from around here. A overlay of the streets around the stops would be helpful
Great way to experience san diego. Be sure to start in the morning so that you get to experience each stop
Great way to get around the city for tourists. Stops at lots of great places. Friendly guides
Yes, holidays can be (and usually area strain on everything.San Diego Trolley is hardly an exception. But it is an enterpriseand need to scale North - South as demand grows (ideally it shouldthink of scaling East - West, but thats a different story.)Well, it does not quite scale. Coronado crowd was so large, that ittook 3 trolleys over next 30 mins to meet the demand.Nice drivers, BTW: feel free to ask Qs - they will try to weave the response into their story. The cost is $40+ / person.PS.: Now somewhat unrelated, but nevertheless might be found helpfulby a visitor. Dont use maps. Easily confuse-able and will most likely suggest a sub-optimum route. An example to support the allegation:- returning from the Little Italy to the Old Town by foot;maps would route you through the best areas of the city to let youenjoy the sightseeing, correct ?Missed: you will be dragged through uninhabitable s/c frontages (filthy roads going along the highways). And if you try to explore alternatives, it will re-route you back. Our advice - avoid using them.
Great way to see the city. However the drivers chatty descriptions can be a little overwhelming. Good knowledge of the surroundings is awesome. The jokes and such to each their own. Overall: recommended trip.
Best tour in San Diego!
Excellent, will hep you to save a lot on Ubers
Rented 4 bikes today from San Francisco Bicycle Rentals for day trip to Sausilito. The people who helped us were very helpful and the bikes were great. Also, better prices than some other shops nearby. Would rent with them again. Took the ferry back to SF which was lovely.
Great tour !
Somewhat confusing about where their stops are at but we finally figured it out we had a couple of people tell us there was a stop right in front of the Dunkin id1878 donuts and that is not the case we had to walk down to the gas lamp destruct
So interesting! A great way to see many of the sites and learn about the history. Both our drivers....Liz and Catarina were knowledgeable and entertaining. I highly recommend!
I loved the hop on hop off trolly. We got to see alot. The only thing I dislike is that it only goes one way. If the trolly went both clock, and counter clock your time would be better consumed. But this tour is the best way to see alot of great spots in san diego.
Great tour of San Diego!
Deb and Jessica were our drivers. Both were great. Lots of fun, very positive. Jessica, in particular, handled a difficult situation with a difficult customer really well, which was nice to see. I liked this experience, got to see parts of San Diego that we otherwise would not see and learned a lot too at each destination. Definitely going to do this again next time Im in the city.
Fun easy way to see San diego
It was our first time in San Diego and we wanted to see everything yet did not want to drive around and worry about parking. The best way experience San Diego and its history. The drivers are entertaining and very helpful. We stayed at the Marriott Marquis and luckily that was one of the stops for the trolleys. So we didn’t have to worry about parking, woke up and hopped onto the trolley.
Very sightful! You can see almost every part of downtown San Diego thats worth seeing..get ready for going over the bridge! The most beautiful part!!
LOVED this experience of history and not having to drive my family everywhere to experience San Diego. The drivers are entertaining and very helpful. My recommendation is to start as early as possible, visit your preferred must see spots, and make a note of the last pick up time for your last location. 👍
We took a tour of the city on 4/18 and it was FABULOUS!! Both of our tour guides were personable and entertaining, especially Jardel! If you get a chance to take this tour...HOP ON!
This was a very nice way to see most of San Diego and learn a little bit about the history. Some of the jokes, though worth a wry smile, are a little campy al but the two drivers we experienced were very dedicated to their job and very knowledgeable. I felt the price was a little high for what you actually get but if you want to see San Diego this is probably the best way to do it. If youre just going to the beach, a rideshare maybe more affordable but you may miss stuff along the way.
Parking lot is currently closed
Great views, ample parking.
It’s a really good place and really fun
Informative tour with a super loud tour guide.I have a San Diego go pass and wasnt impressed that I couldnt use if I wanted to get into Sea World. It was an either or deal. Perhaps they would include a one day pass on the trolley.
We did this tour today to get acquainted with the area. It was a wonderful way to see all the different areas and figure out where you want to spend time. We did the full 2 hour tour, however you can hop on & on throughout the day. I felt the tour was well worth the money. Also, once you tour with then once, you can get a discount on future tours by showing them your tickets.
Best way to get a 2 hour tour of the area to know where you want to spend more time. Dont try to do the full circuit before getting off. Pick a couple of places you may want to see and hop off. You can always go back around for more time.
