Hop Oast Pub & Brewery - Microbrewery in Oakland, United States
Great little neighborhood brewery. The beer was great, and had a good variety. The sausage selection was good, as was the pretzel offering. Really enjoyed my experience while coming across it when I was in town for a work trip, and would definitely go back if Im back in town.
Very chill neighborhood vibe, if you can walk here it’s worth it
A great local Micro Brewery, with good food and a nice place to hang out!
We loved this place. All the beers we tried were above average to great and the pretzel was tasty.Worth stopping by this small little gem of a brewery
Great local brewery, Aron runs the place himself just about all week really awesome guy and great local bar. Stop in for a drink or a snack his beers are top notch and his often fresh always made in house from scratch pretzels are awesome. Also house made beer pickled veggies! This is a hidden local gem.
Nice tiny little nano brewery. Their homemade pretzel was excellent and their beers were super fresh and have a great variety, not just the usual 7-8% IPAs. Best part is the service and family friendly atmosphere. What a cool addition to the neighborhood.
High quality nanobrewery with good snacks and sandwiches. Get a house made hot soft pretzel!
All 3 glasses, invicta hazy and smoked, I tried are just so-so, too sweet imo. Not recommended.
Great stouts and get in cans to go or mason jars.
Verrrrrrry dank cubano. The beers are all on point as well.
Their beers are amazing (all brewed in house by the wayand the owner and other customers are all interesting and fun people. If you swing by make sure you say Devin recommended this spot. You won’t get a discount or anything but the owner will think I’m a popular guy 🥸
Great neighborhood micro brewery, tasty and reasonably priced comfort food (try the "hot mess" if you like a little spiceand a relaxing ambience. Nice variety of beers on rotation, including more German-inspired styles you might not see elsewhere in SF. The smoked marzen is fantastic, also try the altbier and blackberry sour when theyre available. Good place to get growlers during lockdown. The house pickles are good too.
Very small, local brewery. Everything I tasted there was well made, and I hear great things about the in-house pickles they make.
great beer and friendly owner. great place to have in the neighborhood
Great beer will be going back.
Great little place in San Francisco!
Great neighborhood feeling,
Great spot for delicious German style beer and homemade pretzels.
Decent pretzels and food beer.
Ascetic bar with some TV screen and food - ambiance too cold for my taste
Just got one beer, the bartender was nice, nice tables. Seemed a bit small and would fill up fast
Nice chill space with decent beer.
Low key spot with a diverse selection made on-site.
Went here with some friends, they have great drinks. The only thing is they closed early on a Thursday like 10 pm so come earlier if youre visiting on that day.
Nice , relaxing, place. They have TV, board games and food
I love this neighborhood brewpub. The beer is excellent, as youd expect, and the food while simple is also quite good. The bartenders are extremely friendly and its a great place to meet a friend. The Cesar Chavez corridor will never be a big bar-hopping zone, but give it a try anyway.
This place is awesome! I love the Cuban sandwich the pickles and the beer!! Best neighborhood spot.
Great beers - very quiet, more people should come!
Solid beer and sausages
They are carving out a niche focusing on ales and collaborations, and anywhere that serves hot dogs and beer is ok in my book.
Great place to have a local beer. Dog friendly, with games and sausages.
Love the little quaint scene here! Mellow and not overly busy. The house IPA (Invictais really fresh and tasty. A single hop centennial brew that just nails the style. Come and try one. Pretzel, although homemade wasnt as good as the beer :)
While I normally enjoy a more quiet atmosphere, I was the only customer for over an hour and 15 minutes. My first beer, a kolsch, had a nice, slight sweetness and crisp, grainy malt profile but an every growing and obvious diacetyl presence. The second beer, an IPA, was actually decently bitter with classic pine, resinous, and slightly dank hop flavor in addition to an unfortunately out of place red fruit character. The place seemed close to hitting the mark but didnt quite make it and unfortunately the slowness had a negative effect.
Good beer, knowledgeable brewmaster, and really affordable. This place is so underrated.
This brewpub is rad!! A bit off the beaten path which is nice because its not crowded. The owner is a fantastic dude and brews great beer! The brats are awesome too!!
Priscilla floats my boat, and fills my glass, and at the same time. Who could ask for anything more
This is a new establishment, just 4 months old. Also its little away from the main mission st, and thus doesnt get the attention needed. We went there on Thursday night and in span of 2 hours there was only 5 customer in total due to location. Its very small and their brewery is right in the building in the back. They brew their beers once a month, we were told.
Local and in house brewed beers with a simple bar menu that includes hot dogs, bratwurst and other pickled treats.
Visit my friendly neighborhood brewpub, and see whats on offer! As in my friendly neighborhood. Beer is brewed in small batches by a respected local brewmaster. Recently there were 2 house IPAs and an altbier on tap, as well as a couple handfuls of mostly local and excellent guest beers to round out the selection. The decor is homey but minimal for now, as the focus is on the L-shaped bar.Various grilled sausage and sandwiches are available, as well as a few random wines for the beerophobe friend that you had to drag to the beer place. Right on the corner of Bryant and C. Chavez, features views of the gas station, sheepskin city, my house, and the used appliance shop where I got my vintage maytag. So bring something to look at if that bores you. But there is a tv, usually featuring football or baseball, or basketball. Generally I go and watch the people that show up, because are either my neighbors, or they have some interesting reasons for being there!PS. An Oast is a funny shaped building used to dry hops. For beer.
Great Spot!!
Good beers, food options are scare. Mimosas for 11 dollars is a little steep. IPA was good, Alt was great.
Great beer and bratwurst. Nice publike ambiance.
Lovely neighborhood spot. Like a common area for the Bernal/Mission border area! Ham and cheese, sausages, and good beer, who could ask for more!
this is a cool little spot in an otherwise quiet portion of Cesar Chavez - great beers, sausage & friendly service
Fun new brewery. Excellent range of beers. Possibly the best braut in the city... good condiment selection. Quirky but friendly barman. I will go back with different friends and we will have fun despite ourselves.
Full disclosure, this place is run by my friend, so my review is likely a tad biased. This friend is the former master brewer of the Park Chalet / Beach Chalet and hes been planning to start his own brewery for years. Im thrilled to see it finally open and equally thrilled that his brewerys first beers are tasting fantastic.I agree with some of the other reviewers that the place feels new and rough around the edges - but in a good way because it is brand new yet already presents a laid back welcoming feel.I was a bit wary that he opened it without adding more style and design -- but knowing how hard the process is to get all the permitting and go through all of the logistical hurdles, I know I would have thrown the doors open as soon as humanly possible as well (boy did it take a long time!). In just the 3 times Ive visited the bar, Ive seen it already grow in personality and am excited to see it continue.
Stopped in to try a few in this new neighborhood corner spot. A lager and an IPA are made in-house by the former master brewer for the Park/Lake/Beach Chalets. Also a few other faves on tap. Loved the refreshing summer ale, and the Vienna lager. This place is definitely rough around the edges, as its just opened its doors. But lends a refreshing kind of anything-goes kind of vibe. Also, food menu is limited to about eight different delicious sausages. Had the beef hot link, the Frankfurter, and the chicken-apple. All delish!All-in-all, an interesting new space to watch!
Been eagerly awaiting the opening of this place, and I have to say it delivered! Great beer (they have a brewery in the back!), money snacks, and the owner/staff all seem really nice. Its definitely got a new feel and is still finding its personality, but I cant wait to see how this spot continues to nestle in.
Went to the first day open, they had eight beers on tap of lots of styles, you can see where they brew in the back. We tried most of them and they were all good, fair prices too for SF and microbrew. You can get hot dogs and grilled ham & cheese which was solid with the beer. The place could maybe use some more decoration inside but it was day one. Overall it’s a low key place with good microbrew serving an area that really needed something like this. Will drop in often
