Hoopman - Irish pub in Amsterdam, Netherlands
Love the food n service and location
Very nice plac to chill.food very nice.
Most expensive pint of beer in Amsterdam, the staff said it was due to location however the other bars managed to be cheaper and even the hotels were cheaper!
Nice pub, good atmosphere.
Mediocre atmosphere and 9 eur(!for a pint of guinness. Also one of the only places in dam that shows f1 on the big screen, though.
Standard Irish bar in Amsterdam, its way overpriced but tends to be easier to get a spot to watch football in
Nice spot for a beer and a quick bite.
Great Guinness 🙋♀️🙏
Great location,next to canal,decent food,fast service,friendly staff
Worst service. Ended up leaving before food even arrived which was ordered 50 minutes prior.
We visited and had Prosecco, cocktails and fries, all really good. It was clean and staff friendly.
Food was good, services was friendly and the beer was cold!
Decent bar for watching sports. They streamed F1 and Cricket, which I was surprised to see.
Love coming to this place to watch EPL. Great screens and intimate atmosphere without idiots. The staff are awesome and get into the game when youre watching and always with commentary.
A good place for having meals.
Awesome place to watch football and have a beer, very friendly bartender and staff.
Guinness here tastes like a glass of cold p*ss from a tourist trap. Completely lacks the mouthfeel and just tastes plain awful - which is conpletely disappointing for an "irish pub". Plenty of better bars about, but youll get a great pint down Mulligans if youre willing to walk/travel a few minutes away.
This place is BY FAR the biggest rip off in Amsterdam (and thats saying something!). A pint of beer costs a whopping €8, despite the fact that all of the other bars in Leidseplein (and Amsterdam in generalonly charge around €6-6.50. The food is absurdly overpriced as well, not to mention extremely average, and the service is shoddy. No wonder every time I pass it the place is virtually empty. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. It is nothing more than a tourist trap. We were badly stung, but I can tell you for a fact its the last cent theyll ever get from us.
Most expensive bar I visited. Wow. And took a 4 euro tip without asking. Shocking
Guinness is 9 euro and possibly the worst I have ever had.
Possibly the worst nacho’s i’ve ever had for the price you would think you would atleast get some cheese on them ..Service was also very slow .But atleast the cider was nice :)
Location is great, but it is to catch tourists. Service was bad. We got there hungry, asked for appetizers and they had none. I asked for olives and they said they couldnt bring it before the plates. When they brought it, this is what they put in our table, unopened. Ridiculous.
Waitress overcharged us 18€ for beer she never delivered and other drinks we never ordered 👍🏼 Unfortunately we only noticed a day later. Enjoy the money you scammed.
Local beer selection & staff were great.
13€ for a coffee and a Guinness! The worst.. the Guinness was thin and watery. what a shame...
Very over priced and under whelming Irish bar. Ordered fish and chips; the fish looked and tasted frozen. The fries were good, but not enough to make up for the lack of fish quality.
The waitress here is very rude and moody. Worse customer service .
Good for watching sports and that’s it, 9 euros for a pint of Guinness feels like you’re being mugged off, especially when they don’t advertise the draught drink prices. The head needs a wobble as their competitors 3 doors down are 2 euros cheaper
We had drinks at night during the summer. Everything was fine apart from the fact that they were understaffed and it long times to order.
No ice bar for a few pints and watch the world go by.
slow service and got the wrong order, would not recommend
STAY AWAY STAY AWAY STAY AWAY,horrible staff, small girl with curly hair specially. I was here on 18th of may in the evening.!!!! AT 00:25 THEY STOP SERVING!!!!They will only serve girls after this timeVery bad place, they were serving others but when we asked they say they were already closed. When i came in to pee I saw a black mouse in the toilet.
9 euros for a Guinness is a ripoff, like seriously ? And no WiFi. Tourists trap, be aware.
Cozy pub, beautiful decoration, great beers and tasty food
Good bar, we had our bachelor Party, drings and Service was awesome but the Heater werent functionating so it got very cold in the Eve...
Kindest wait staff Ive experienced in Amsterdam!!
Nice view on people passing by. Great service and very friendly.
Best Guinness I’ve had in Amsterdam since moving here 5 days ago. Still the only Guinness I’ve had since moving here. Speaking fromexperience, it’s a mighty fine Guinness. Tastes like Guinness. Nice pub. Kitchen closes surprisingly early. So unfortunately was only able to enjoy one Guinness. So, I’m sorry Hoopman, for that reason, you lose a star. I’ll be back. You can try to win me over and earn that next star. I’m a fair man and I like Guinness.
Nice place! It takes you back to the old films with all the historical items, style and decorations. But I didnt know what is an Irish pub doing in Amsterdam? I wish they could write down that history (relationbetween them.
Good pub, good atmosphere, but the food and beer is ridiculously expensive. My friends bought a burger, each 14.50, which was meant to come with fries according to the menu. Turns out afterwards that they charge for the fries separately and the fries each cost 5.50. The burger was of average quality as well, as were the nachos Id purchased.Insultingly expensive even by Amsterdam standards. Would not recommend dining here.
For food. Not so Wonderful. But a drink, a beer. A nice seat, that is wonderful
Ordered a burger and fries. My table was set with cutlery and condiments. I waited for nearly an hour but still no food arrived. Eventually I asked where my food was and the bartender realised she never placed my order. Then, 20 mins later when it finally arrived, only the burger came, no fries. It wasn’t even busy, the staff are just awful. A simple gesture could have made up for everything, but there was no offer of any discount on the food, free drink or anything to make up for their terrible service. Clearly it’s a pub for tourists so they don’t care if you ever come back. The pints are also a rip off. Avoid this place
Very good menu. Extremely friendly and attentive staff. Lovely breakfast. Would highly recommend!!!!
Nice service, food not the best. Good sitting outside.
Lovely nachos and Cheesy bacon fries. Good selection of beers
Nice pub, very friendly staff.
Cosy place with some really tasty cheesy fries. Well worth a visit if youre craving some pulled pork or a nice Guinness
The only good thing about this place is the view if you sit outside. Its located in Leidsplien which is the area with a lot of cool pubs so the vibe is nice if youre in the outdoor seating. The beer and fries were average here and Ive tried much better ones anywhere in the city. Service was super slow and was also kinda confusing as the servers from nearby places were also serving in between. We were seated for about 10 mins but no one came to take the order, finally had to go inside and ask. No one checked on the table after serving, kept waiting for the check as well and went inside to settle it again. I would try another place next time.
Does these beers look the same? Of course not. They taste different, look different. But the waiter says it’s the same, and wouldn’t have them back.Update: the table next to us had the right beer.Basically they messed up our order and didn’t want to assume it.
Awesome pub. Bartender I had was extremely nice and I loved talking to her. Drinks were great and the atmosphere was relaxed and perfect for chatting with friends
