Honolulu Coffee Nelson - Coffee shop in West End, Canada
Honolulu Coffee Nelson in West End
Description
Privilege
I do love this little spot on Nelson Street, downtown. A nice little oasis to enjoy a coffee and maybe spend a little time writing. Specially love this place during the Hot Chocolate Festival!
MoreI didn’t like the taste of the Acai Bowl mostly because of the texture.
Good coffee, and friendly staff. I thought the music was too loud because we needed to work, and we couldn’t find a spot where music was not loud. Will definitely go back but not to work or read.I also felt that they could keep it cleaner, the floor and tables were a bit dirty and we had to clean the table ourselves.
MoreThe hawaiian style latte was a bit too sweet for me. I enjoyed the first few sips but it became too much. The taro bread was really good though
MoreGood macarons and decent coffee. Liked the cute decor and clean aesthetic
- hawaiian cream cold brew = $7 -🥥 Nutty for macadamia and coconut! 🤪 🥥This summer, Honolulu Coffee (on Nelsonhad new selection of Summer Drinks:• Hawaiian Cream Cold Brew• Waikiki Sunset• Island Sunrise• Hawaiian Kona FrostThe four drinks featured flavours from various tropical fruits like pineapple and coconut, in addition to the Hawaiian classic: macadamia nuts! Of the four, the cold brew interested me the most and I was really excited to finally try Honolulus famous coffee. The drink came with their cold-brewed coffee and a layer of macadamia and coconut-flavoured cream on top. I liked that the coconut was not too strong, as it can be overpowering in a lot of drinks. However, the cold brew itself was also quite mild in taste. Maybe I have gotten way too used to darker roasts of coffee, but I was surprised by how diluted the coffee tasted.I hope that this was simply a bad batch of cold brew, because Ive heard nothing but good things about Honolulus drinks... Hopefully my next visit will be better, but next time, I will most likely be ordering something else.
MoreThis place is so well hidden from the road l, I honestly thought it was just a tiny coffee shop BUT they do the most amazing variety of smoothies, bowls and baked goods. I am sad I didnt know this earlier or it would have been a breakfast stop and not just coffee. That being said, their coffee is REALLY good!
MoreOne of my favourite cafe. Nice interior, friendly staffs, fair quality of coffee.
MoreMmmmm. So good! I got the aloha açaí bowl and the Hawaiian latte. SO GOOD! Every bite delighted and every sip got a post “mmmmm”
MoreI was excited to see this in Vancouver since Ive been to the one in Honolulu. Honolulus is still better and the "OG" but I got the Hawaiian latte and it was really good. (Wish they sold more than one size). Down side to this review is I waited in line for probably 30minutes just to get a coffee, service was super slow here and it wasnt even the morning rush...
MoreGood coffee options. Snacks are nice. A little pricey. The acai bows dont have much acai in it-- or smoothie, kind of dry, but quality ingredients.
MoreNice coffee, u can take the break in here , free wifi
I have been to better places of the same genre. It may have been a poor time of day. The staff were a little overwhelmed. They were friendly and hardworking. I will visit it again.
MoreDisappointed since it first opened and I use to go here regularly . Today the place looked like a storage facility. Supplies all over, blocked seats for a clothing rack. Surfboards leaning over seats. Not a Hawaiian dessert in sight. 1 table set outside on what is a huge plaza area. $$
MoreA very laidback cafe. Great to sit in and work for hours.. Great tea and coffee.
Nice place for a coffee. We went for a filter coffee and a cappuccino - both, very good. Very spacious. Nice and friendly staff. Decent seating space. Nice ambiance to relax and spend good time. Not sure about the parking as we walked down here but there are a few parking lots, walking distance from here.
MoreI visit this place for first time today. I get iced macha latte and croissant. The staff is very nice, friendly and professional. She asked me of I want the croissant heated. There is really lovely. Inside it looks also pretty cool and comfy. Next time definitely staying longer here for enjoying coffee and atmosphere. I would like to try hawaiian coffee as well. Thank you.
MoreQuiet little escape from the busyness of DT van just a couple blocks off the beaten path. As expected the coffee is authentic Hawaii. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended if you are looking to break away from a typical coffee chain.
MoreFavorite Coffee Spot so far with another one in town.Indoor and outdoor seating. Wifi and water for free, spacious toilets, a small store.Seating area is accommodating everyone’s needs:small tables, high tables couches etcCoffee is great! Had an iced latte with soy (you pay extra thoughand a Hawaiian latteJust make sure if you really like sweet (nit like methe Hawaiian latte comes with two Sirup pumpsThe service is more than welcoming and great! Feels so nice! Oh nice music as well - I haven’t tried their açaí, smoothies matchas or anything but they look good. Next time then
MoreWent here a few times on my week long trip, great smoothies, coffee and delicious matcha lattes both hot and cold. Perfect to grab a quick but delicious breakfast. Very nice staff as well.
MoreKeep coming back for their caprese sandwich. It does not taste the same lately though. They changed the pesto? I dont know...its just not as good as it used to be. I miss the days when the salad was included in the price. Their pastries are also great.
MoreIced Hawaiian latte is always my favourite and also a guava bread was delicious too!! But, I go back to Ontario next Monday, I’m gonna miss this cafe place so much.
MoreI’ve been a loyal customer since the beginning, however I won’t be coming back soon. I’ve never seen that messy, dirty and expensive coffee shop in my whole life as i worked in a coffee industry. Dirty dishes are on the floor, floor is full of dirt and sugar, milks are staying at the counter ( NO FOOD SAFE HERE! , everything is everywhere and i cannot believe my eyes ! Too loud music that no one can hear their own voice so everyone yells each other. Granola boxes, garbage, files, dirty dishes are on the other corner and i paid for a Hawaiian Latte like 7 bucks. Not worth your money and your time. Never ever.
MoreAs has been noted by others, the prices are above-average here but it was nice to see the uncommon Oolong on the menu. My teacup had stains on it and had to be replaced. It was busy on a Saturday and unfortunately the bathroom badly needed cleaning. Also, putting an ivory coloured cushion on a cafe bench is really optimistic and ours had food stains on it.
MoreGood cappuccino, great atmosphere. I found the pour over a bit weak.
A touch of the tropics 🌴 Honolulu Cafe is my favourite cafe downtown to visit on my days off! Always a treat to pop in for a decadent Hawaiian latte and visit with the warm & friendly barista’s. I moved downtown recently and they’ve already remembered my coffee order! They’ve certainly earned my cafe loyalty 👏 AND they got new throw pillows! 😉
MoreAmazing coffee (various types), great customer service and atmosphere. Check it out. Prices may be a bit steep but quality is above your standard coffee shop.
MoreAmazing matcha lattes. Not too sweet and they use real matcha powder so they pack a punch. Also their baked goods are top-notch full-buttered perfection. Try their mouth puckering lemon curd-filled cruffin. Words do not exist to describe how good it is. Aloha!
MoreIt’s a nice and cozy coffee shop, just don’t know why it closes very soon. Would be nicer if the hours increases so I can go there after work 😍
MoreBest Hawaiian coffee as always! Glad they have this place in canada. Great location with decor! Felt like Hawaii! Service was good, but staffs were not too friendly.
MoreHad the Hawaiian acai bowl! Reminded me of the acai bowl I had in Hawaii 2 years ago! Would recommend!
MoreSakura latte is a limited time feature drink during the cherry blossom season. Drink was piping hot. I don’t think there are actual cherry blossoms in this drink but it’s good. They heated the scone for me and the chocolate was soft and gooey, yum. Guava bread has a subtly guava flavor. Really enjoyed the sweet edges. Nice dense sponge texture that you would expect of a banana bread. Would recommend.
MoreA beautiful cafe, that makes you feel like you’re in Hawaii 🌺I tried their MAUNA LAI hot chocolate, which is a special creation for the Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival.A tropical-inspired 70% dark chocolate combined with guava puree & coconut milk, topped with coconut whipped cream. Did I mention it also came with a guava-flavoured macaroon? 😋So so good!A little bit on the pricey side with $11, but definitely worth it!Side note: My bf had an Americano, which was a bit disappointing as it was very watered down...
MoreThe coffee is good (non-dairy milk). However, it does not live up to the expectation that I had for Honolulu coffee. The one I tried in Japan has a distinctive taste and aroma.
MoreVery open space. Love all the pillows for bench sitting. Pastries are incredible tasty. Only good coffee here. For people that really appreciate that. Great music. Easy to relax. Almost like being in Hawaii!
MoreCute, roomy cafe in the heart of the city. The cafe really brought the tropical vibes and the seating is very comfy. Perfect for a grey day. The servers were friendly.I had a special hot chocolate for hot chocolate festival and it was really good. Ill definitely be back to try more treats!
MoreFeel "tropical" once you enter the café. There are limited chance of pastry and no other food.I ordered Kano pour over which is better than I thought. Sweet in the first taste, the bitter and sourness come after in a mild manner...Just the table and floor are not clean or wipe. But a cozy and relax place for coffee.
MoreLarge space with lots of seating inside and outside. The staff were quick to help and explain what was in each item. Ordered the breakfast sandwich and Gibraltar coffee. Both were good, the Gibraltar came with a small glass of carbonated water. Will be back to try other items.
MoreA cheerful atmosphere, colorful & bright environment. The Honolulu latte had a hint of something that I liked but the regular latte (according to my friend who loves coffeewas average. But definitely going back there again!
MoreWe’re visiting from out of town and this shop is right across the street. The coffee, pastries, smoothies, and açaí bowls are a great way to start the day. There is a lovely, serene ambience with outdoor seating as well. I tried the Hawaiian latte because it seemed like the thing to do - it had a very mild, moderately sweet flavor.
MoreGreat ambience for an afternoon coffee. Servers were nice and accommodating. I ordered a traditional latte and found that it was lacking in flavour and aroma. There may have been a hint of fruitiness, but it was definitely not enough to leave a lasting impression.I also tried my friends Hawaiian Latte and found the coconut syrup and macadamia nuts too sweet and overpowering. I could not discern any of the flavors of the coffee bean.
MoreAçai bowl to get us through Wednesday? 🌴🌴..📸Acai Bowl (acai berry, strawberry, blueberry, banana, topped with honey and house-made granola )..I had seen açai bowls around for the longest time but didn’t try one until this time. It basically reminded me of the really rich smoothies I love, except that the ingredients weren’t mixed in a blender. The granola wasn’t too dry and the whole bowl was really filling. I love fruits so this bowl was pretty satisfying.See our IG for more posts on their drinks and food!
MoreI grabed a cup of hawaiian latte for the first time. A barrista made me nice latte!! Taste gentlly sweet. Texture was also great. Good experience. Good confy chair!
MoreCoffee was delicious. Quiche looked a bit old? Service was good. Couldnt get code to work on wash room! Saw somebody else fail with the wash room too :-(
MoreHawaii style coffee shop ,clean and big space ,can work here but only problem is Wi-Fi was so slow .so maybe work here not a good choice.Im not sweet coffee person but still wanna try the Honolulu latte, taste like hot ice cream, kind of dessert drink.
MoreAwesome coffee shop! I love the decorations and the atmosphere in this cute place. Went there early in the morning on my last day in Vancouver before going back to Calgary, tried the Hawaiian Latte and the green tea cake (I forgot the name), and it was really good! Talked to the girls behind the bar after finishing my food and drink, and they were all super friendly! We talked a lot and it felt reaaally nice as I was on a solo trip here so its always good whenever I go somewhere and feel the warmth! Overall Honolulu Coffee is amazing, and I hope they will open in Calgary someday. Will definitely come here again when I go back to Vancouver! :)
MoreWonderful atmosphere ~ I love perberry coffee bean. It’s a kind of honor to taste Hawaii coffee bean in Vancouver. Cheers!
MoreIn love with place! The mocha and acai bowl is so good! My husband likes the sandwich he ate as well and the almond crossiant (not the best but its decent). Service is great as well.
MoreCome for the coffee and ignore the over priced $8 dry sandwiches served with a salad. The salad dressing is served on the side which was obviously measured with an eye dropper. Although not stated anywhere, I think their farm to table applies to their coffee only. The biggest give away was the processed cheddar on the turkey sandwiches which had no sauce, a lightly dressed slaw, and processed cheddar. The pour over coffee using the Kona blend was excellent! I dont normally drink coffee black, but the coffee hit the spot where I could enjoy it black. The atmosphere feels modern Hawaiian and I kinda dig it. The place is steadily busy. The front counter does have the feel of a chain style business similar to Starbucks. I would come back for the coffee, and stay away from idea of a light lunch. There are so many places to eat in the area who could take my $8 and give me a feast compared to the sandwich we received. Coffee lovers, drink on! 👌
MoreTucked away at Nelson Plaza this place has great coffee and friendly staff. Definitely try the delicious Hawaiian latte with coconut, so good.
