Hongs Mongolian Restaurant - Mongolian barbecue restaurant in Richland, United States
This is probably my favorite Mongolian in town. You can personalize you sauces nicely (they have ingredients not just pre-made sauces). The service is quick and the food is good.
You cant really go wrong here. You pick all the ingredients and sauces that go into your dish. Then they cook it on a big circle with additional sauces and re-bowl your food for there or to go. You get either white rice or soup on the side with your bowl as well. This is a great place for Mongolian food! Highly recommend 👌
While Im normally impressed with this restaurant, I was disappointed by the food today. I kept picking large pieces of large char out of my food, and it just overall had a burnt taste despite it only being on the grill for a minute. I hope this doesnt happen again in the future.
Wow. Not your typical Asian food place. Grilled individually, each bowl for you. The amount of food in each bowl is amazing. I was FULL off one bowl.
Always good coming here too dine in or take out! You choose the ingredients for your meal and they cook it for you, even has suggested sauces too use. Highly recommend too try this place at least once, you might get hooked like I did. **Update** I should of added more of choosing what you want its like a buffet style choosing so what you eat is what you choose. I will take a picture next time I visit.
Great make your own bowl type of place! You pick the favoring you like & they cook it to perfection! Highly recommend!
Great food and even better service. I would recommend lunch anytime.
Good food. Miss the different sauce recipes.
I love this place. Staff is always nice.. good is good. Service is excellent!
Food was great, service was excellent, & my company was phenomenal!
Standard Mongolian, we got ours behind a few people and it picked up a bit of a burned flavor which was unfortunate. Other than that the noodles were slightly undercooked however it still hit the spot. Will keep going back as it can be hit or miss occasionally.
Its a good place for a quick meal at decent prices. The ability to add your own ingredients into the dish allows you to make sure that anything you dont want or are allergic to isnt added. Great for small groups to dine. Due to COVID it is now a great place to get take out for the family.
Waitress was super sweet. I ended up with food poisoning though, won’t be returning here.
Food-As always it was AmazingService-From the greeting to the bussing of your table the people here are simply Fantastic.¹¹
Quick service, grabbed the food I wanted to add into the bowl and tasted really good. The quality of food is great too.
Good flavors and great service. Good location to bring family and friends
Good value and friendly service and you mix it the way you like it. Very liberal on filling up the bowl. Good ingredients many to choose from.
Eh, its not a typical Mongolian grill. Pay per bowl size (1 time thru).Very limited on sauces. Worst part was they then drown your food in water while cooking and rotating food on the grill. Ive never ever seen a Mon. Grill work like this. All sauce just ends up at the bottom of your bowl vs a glaze on your food like its supposed to be.The server lady was absolutely wonderful and caring...she was easily the best part of the restaurant!
This is still my absolute favorite place to eat.
Great customer service and friendly staff, and grillers did great of cleaning grill before my meal so I wouldnt get sick.
Always a good experience! Food is fresh and never disappoints. We’ve been coming here for years and will continue to support. You can smell the food from the parking lot and it draws you in, even if you’re not at the plaza for food lolOur favorite server is Herlinda. She goes above and beyond and is so friendly, always a smile on her face.
In my opinion, one of the best places in Tri Cities to get food. My one critique would be that they sometimes have to make a couple extra bowls of food in between cleaning the grill, resulting in you getting a hint of flavor from others food. So if you have really sensitive food allergies, maybe try their soups instead. Otherwise, this place has really good food that I just cant seem to quit. Highly recommend.
Had a great lunch. Hostess made all the difference with her helpfull, friendly personality. Same for the cooks.
Really bland sauces and the grill never gets cleaned they just scrape your food over everyone elses old baked on food. There isnt a large variety of vegetables like other Mongolian places Ive been. Our waitress never came to refill our drinks and we had to ask for our check. Even with inflating prices everywhere this place was over priced. Would not recommend.
While the restaurant was clean and quick to seat it lacked ingredients and ironically, the ability to actually customize the food. There were less than ten vegetable selections, only soy oil for as an oil based ingredient, and one wok. Several meals were prepared simultaneously without cleaning the grill. I watched 20 preparations and no cleaning. To compensate for burned ingredients from so many preparations, they pushed the house teriyaki sauce very hard in addition to customers own sauce presentation: they tried to deglaze previous cooking with that sauce. The food was filled with charred remnants, therefore lacking in flavor, and 4 out of 5 our familys meals were overdone as the cooks talked amongst themselves making too many trips around the grill. There was no water served. The meso soup was good. The prices were high: $80 before tip with no adult beverages for two adults and three children. We wont return.
This place was really interesting! I havent had Mongolian in over 10 years. The portion size of what you can fit in a bowl here is CRAZY BIG. My husband was able to finish the Medium bowl, I could not.Food was good, service was great. The homemade Mongo Sauce is delicious.
My wife and i went in for dinner a few nights ago. We were pleasently greeted and seated and began filling out bowls. I was shocked to see the freshness of the vegetables lacking and was slightly disgusted by tawing meat in the tray... the cook top was the final straw!! Never seen grease candles forming on the grill!! Mounds of burnt grease on the drip tray No scraper to be seen in the cook area!! definatly not like the photo on here! They were literally scraping peoples food over a burnt crust around the outter ring of the cook top!!! i give them an F- Hong would be ashamed!! We walked out
I like it that I select what goes into my bowl. The guys cooking are very good. I always leave a tip. Been going there for years. Give it a try.
What happened to this place? It used to be such a wonderful place to come, but now everything is absolutely filthy and the food was of such poor quality - some of it was even spoiled! Please go back to normal, this used to be the best place in the entire area for Mongolian.....sadly, not anymore. However, i must say that the soup was delicious as always and our server was wonderful!
The food and service were both amazing
Friendly service, fresh food bar, awesome cook. Can take leftovers in a Togo box no extra charge. Even my 3 year old enjoy it. Will definitely be back!
Great food and employees were friendly and helpful for our first time there
Have been plenty of times was always great, recently told after complaining of a burnt taste it was because I asked for hot sauce. It was clearly because the grill had not been clean. I would be surprised if I was the only one to mention it that night 8/22. Still love the place, hated that I was considered a first timer and that the burnt hot sauce taste was normal?
The Mongolian experience was amazing. We were seated right away and had a wide choice of fresh veggies, chicken, pork, beef, noodles, various other condiments and a wide variety of sauces that were cooked on the large kettle grill. It was tasty, fun and even had plenty of leftovers for another day. And dont forget the soup and rice, very tasty and makes a great side dish when enjoying the main course. Enjoy.
Been going here a couple years with my husband. We have made friends with the owners and staff. Food is great and staff are good at thier job.The place is a very family feeling. My husband and I use this as a fun date place and even had our wedding reception here back in 2019. This place has so many good memories in them!Highly recommend the food and the company that cones with it!
Today we enjoyed a meal at this place and the staff went above and beyond. I am not supposed to have gluten and when I saw everybody cooking it on the grill I was afraid to ask for it to be cleaned off and was about ready to take what was ever coming to me. I said please dont add any extra sausage because Im allergic to a lot of things I just did lemon and garlic and to that the three gentlemen replied by immediately turning around finishing what was on the grill before adding my food to it and then cleaning it before my very eyes so that there would be no accidental allergies and no gluten contamination. I think them and said the rest of the world didnt really take it seriously and so I was afraid to ask they replied to me that I deserve that to be done with a smile on their face! It was refreshing and wonderful and they joked with me and made me feel special. They took care of my entire family and the whole thing was just an absolute treat.
I enjoy the food every time I come here. Its clean, service is friendly and prompt. Best part for me, is watching the food being cooked on the huge grill. I love it, its kind of like one of those oddly satisfying things to watch.
My husband and I tried this place today for lunch and were sorely disappointed. We tried to pick flavorful sauces for our bowl, but mine still just tasted painfully salty and no good Asian flavor. I realize that we didnt know what to do, but we both wanted it to be better. The stirfry chefs are hispanic..not even Asian, and had NO idea what I was saying to them. Dont waste your time. Go to Shanghai..
I had never had Mongolian BBQ before I moved here and once I tried it it became one of my favorite places to dine at, they always have excellent customer service and the food is the bomb! I love my spicy noodles. I definitely recommend trying it you won’t regret it.
While visiting my son in Tri-Cities, we went to Hongs for lunch. I really liked the selection and what I got. I realized that since you select your own fixings that you can eat as healthy as you want. I was easily able to get a lot of fresh vegetables, lean meats, and keep my carbs to a minimum.
It is okay. A big push to get you seated and on your way out the door. Not cheap, not fancy. You will probably hear pretty constant chopping from the kitchen. That adds to the dining experience. Fairly clean.
If it doesnt taste good, its strictly your fault! Very good, extremely friendly restaurant! We come frequently, and love the experience! It feels like you are part of the family, after you visit a few times. Excellent staff, only complain is some of the patrons make an incredible mess fixing their bowls!
Absolutely LOVE this place. The staff were very welcoming and helpful when it came to figuring out just what to eat and pile into your bowl. The food quality is great and worth the money. Dont get too much or else its a bowl upgrade!Warning: the spicy sauce is PRETTYYY 🔥 so even just one little ladle will make your mouth burn.
Ive always enjoyed getting lunch here. The ingredients are always been fresh and cold, with a nice assortment of veggies and plenty of sliced chicken, pork, and beef, noodles, etc. to build your bowl.Id be happier if the noodles were closer to the end of the ingredients line, as piling the jalapenos and cilantro on the top of the wobbly pile of noodles is a bit of a trick. Not a problem is theres no line of folks behind you waiting for you to complete your creation, but an annoyance when the place is busy. The various sauces, and the posted recipes give you a good place to start your creation, although theres plenty of variety if you want to try something more like a curry, or heavy on the ginger, for instance.Once your food is on the BBQ grill, they have a great hot sauce, and the chefs will ask if you want any. I like my food spicy, and generally, one scoop of hot sauce is perfect for me. Ive gone with two scoops on occasion, but that tends to result in a bit of a sweating forehead. Either way, the taste is great.
I love this place. We were new and they were kind to help us figure out how to plate our food. The price was amazing. The soda pops was unique and yummy! Excited to eat here again.
I love coming here and love the food but today it was absolutely disgusting. I didn’t even want my bowl to touch the counter and was disgusted with using the tongs. ( luckily they brought out fresh ones wile restocking noodles). The assistant manager was working and just stood up front talking with the waitress. The tables weren’t being wiped down until they sat people and the floor and counters were covered with food. I understand a rush and it being messy but there were no efforts being made to clean it up. The assistant manager was just standing up front with the waitress while the mess piled on. The two star are only because they have good food every time no matter the service or cleanliness of the establishment. I have photos but cannot upload them for some reason that I’d love to share with the owner.
Love love love this place!!! I craved them all the time when I was pregnant. Its one of my husband and mine favorite places to eat. Love that we can build our own and put whatever we want in it and we normally have enough for leftovers! Plus the leftovers taste just as great. My kids are loving it as well and starting to ask to go as they are getting older.
Awesome food friendly staff just an amazing place I have never regretted coming here!
Good assortment of ingredients for a great Mongolian BBQ experience. Friendly service.
Love this place! Tastes great, plenty of variety, and its fun to watch the food get cooked in front of you. "Desserts" arent really desserts so you might want to head across the parking lot to Sharis for a piece of pie after dinner. :-)
