Hong Kong Museum of Medical Science is a interesting museum which give you a brief information about the disease.The entrance fee of the museum for adult is $20. Not much interactive exhibition in this museum, kids maybe bored. And the museum is not that big and it only take you about 2hrs to finish. And dont forget there is a basement to visit.The building of this museum looks nice

A very historical and beautiful heritage building constructed in 1906.The museum offers many exhibitions related to human biology, history about the Plague in 1894, the history and achievement of the former Pathological Institute, and display of a number of medical apparatus and Chinese medicine herbs.They are very informative and academic. However, to my disappointment, the exhibits I would like to see were not on display. There are many items which could not be shown either because the space is insufficient.This is my first time to this place. I wish the balcony on the second floor could be open to the public in the future.

Its good for a 30 to 40 minute walkthrough for those interested in Hong Kong history and some wacky exhibits.

A medium sized museum yet ,a historical place wjich displayed some important moments of medical research history of Hong Kong.Worth visiting for people who are interested with past plagues happened in Hong Kong and the hard work for the people in the past for fighting against the plagues.

A quite scary looking building from the exterior at night. Good for wedding photos. Lots of mosquitoes in the summer.

It is an interesting museum. It is also next to Ladder Street which is interesting street to visit at HK.

Location was out of the way with many hills and stairs to negotiate before arriving to the museum. The museum was small but packed with posters and writings about the history of medicine in Hong Kong. The second floor did not add much to the experience and the basement was kind of spooky with the model of the cow and surgical instruments.

Definitely worth visiting there if you are eager to learn the history of medical science! Back then the building itself was designed as a Bacteriological Institute and renamed to Pathological Institute after WWII.

Little known museum that begs to be visited. Not too big so allow no more than 2 hours. Tells the story of HKs medical system, which is interesting to consider.

Really very interesting place, the staff were very friendly and nice.There are many interactive devices that teach and give some quizes.

Pretty interesting from a none medical standpoint, I thought the exhibits were really well put together. The SARS exhibit was not there when we went, and the Chinese-Western medicine links were not as obvious as expected, but the link between the old and the new was wonderful to see and really well done.

The building itself is historic, first medical building in the history of Hong Kong.The exhibition is alright on some topics and quite good on some, covering medical history of Hong Kong and also general medical knowledge.There is a dedicated session for SARS which is quite informative,$20 admittance.Street parking nearby available.Cash only.Toilet outside the building, opposite to main entrance.

Interesting place. Worth going to visit if you have to go kill some time. But if you are into the medical stuff a must see.

From a medical student standpoint, its very informative and fun. I dont think its really suited for kids as its not very interactive and more towards reading. For anyone thats interested to see the history; integration and evolution of Chinese medicine wi th western medicine, do check this place out!

A small building but is a historical one. Has a lot of interesting exhibitions worth looking at. Theres also a historical chart from the 17th century outling some of the collaborations between the British and Chinese on medical advancement as well as plagues and major disease outbreaks that Hong Kong has lived through and survived.

Adult $20, child $10. Nice place to spent about 1 hour .

A quiet museum where one can learn about Hong Kongs medical development at their own pace

I think I had high expectations of this place because of the Siriraj Medical Museum (or the Museum of Deathin Bangkok. The Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences was extremely disappointing compared to that. This place was small and disorganised; I was reading about malaria in one section and suddenly I was looking at the x-rays of bound feet. The exhibition of herbs was interesting but it would have been nice if there had been more information about each of their uses, for instance. The basement was slightly creepy but only because it’s quite dark and had a strange no-entry room, but that was it. Would go back to Siriraj any day but not here. Giving this place 2 stars for the friendly staff and nice, quiet environment.

Interesting museum. Learnt a bit of the medical history of Hong Kong and seen some old medical equipment.

Interesting place but it seems like their main. Premiss was to show case the plague that occured. It is a good place if you want to learn about that but in general there is not a lot of information about the history of Hong Kong medical system.They do have some very cool display and the building it self is quite unique for the area. Recommend checking it out if you have time.

Although this museums focus is medical sciences, there are several interesting exhibits for tourists - in particular the section dedicated to the history of the Tai Ping Shan District in which the museum stands, now a hipster "hood of little indy shops, bars and cafes, but once a vast slum area of tenement housing.It was here in 1894 that an outbreak of bubonic plague originated, turning Hong Kong into a quarantined port and making the British rethink health and medicine in the colony.

The staff was nice and they had a bunch of interactive features. Go if your interested (or if you want to escape HK heat).

Got there when it opened. People were very nice and it was great learning the history of medicines, plague and their founders and being in the building where so many great things happened. It was also nice to learn about Chinese herbal medicines and learn about them.

Interesting part of history of HK. They show case the history of the Museum and details of diseases outbreak in HK.Their exhibit down the basement is more than a little creepy especially if alone. Anyone who has watched American Horror Story: Asylum will know what I mean haha. There is also a room which you can’t enter but there’s a clear window you can peer through and see what’s inside(still not creepy?)Adults will find it more interesting, young kids will most likely be bored out of their minds here.It’s worth the $20HKD entry fee.

An excellent place to visit if you’re interested in history and medicine. There are many interactive devices that teach and give some quizes. There are also games that are educational and very fun to play. I played one game that makes you run and teaches you about the area.You can learn about old chinese medicine and some old medical contraptions. The lady at the front was also very nice.It’s not a big museum, make sure you don’t miss the hidden basement exhibit. We almost did. LOL

Nice historical building and interesting museum, however its a small building, dont expect too much.

An interesting place to visit if you love to see and learn about old medical equipment and practices. This museum chronicals the advancements in medicine that were achieved in Hong Kong from the 1800s through today. They have some fun exibits. The enterance fee is cheap which makes is a must see and it doesnt take to long to walk through.

A very interesting visit with very detailed exhibits. I highly recommend this place to famillies that are visiting Hong Kong as it has a lot of information that you cant find in other parts of the world. A good experience!

A very old building housed the medical museum. Exhibition materials are very old, also covering some history of epidemic control during the early years of the territory. The location of the museum is far from ease of access by public transport.

Good display of the medical history of Hong Kong. The museum is a monument itself and is a centre place where the history evolved.

Worth a visit if u like history and medicine

Temporarily closed until Feb 2017. Walking there from the closest MTR station leaves you looking like youve just walked out a shower....of sweat....due to the long uphill climb.Take a taxi or Uber for about HKD 30-40 instead if you want to avoid the climb, but you might miss out on the little shops along the way up that are always interesting to look at.The Sun Yat-Sen museum is close by and free admission if youre already up there.

Interesting exhibits but not a lot to see. Quite a few exhibits were closed when I visited.

This used to be a Pathology Institute where the laboratories of the Medical and Health Department was established. Now it becomes a museum showing the history of medicine. The old equipments were no longer used and it demonstrated how the medical services of Hong Kong advances to become the top three most efficient health care systems in the globe.

Not a large museum, but still feels complete. Has audiovisual guides to take you through Hong Kongs medical science history.
