Local counter-serve chain offering a menu of artisan sandwiches, soups & salads in a hip setting.
Place was cleaning and well kept. Service was good and fast. Ambience is nice.
Closed for "poor air quality"..... How is that a valid excuse, I guess since COVID anything is an excuse to not work. One step away from "I dont feel like working" as being a valid excuse. Never going here again
So this place used to have a line out the door and down the street in the mornings before the pandemic. During the pandemic, I had to report to the office one time and since there wasnt a line finally, I tried their Two Fried Eggs Bowl and it was some of the best food I had ever had. Post pandemic, they arent open for breakfast so I hit them up for lunch today. There was a wait but my food came pretty fast considering. The quality of my food was drastically lower and I feel like I paid 13 bucks for a handful of veggies that were barely prepped and two fried eggs. Wont be buying here again anytime soon.
I had the braised tofu salad. It was amazing. I want to know where can I purchase the tofu to make dishes at home.
Good place for coffee and breakfast sandwich. Attached to the DocuSign/Wells Fargo building with access from the street on 2nd avenue. Order only via screen.
Always a favorite for office take-out! I highly recommend the chickpea sandwich.
Everything at Homegrown is always fresh and delicious! Yum!!
The powerful smell and feel of vaporized cooking oil in the air that greets you when you walk inside tells you they are not selling healthy food here. Even when I walk inside for under a minute to pick up a to go order, I walk out smelling like burnt grease and can feel a greasy layer of oil coating my face. I cant imagine that the air quality is healthy enough for the employees to be able to work there for a full shift. This is the greasiest restaurant I have ever walked into.
For a $16 sandwich it’s a mess and obviously was just thrown together. Not the Homegrown motto “slow food, served fast” it’s more like ingredients wrapped in paper make it yourself.
Good, healthy food at a reasonable price. The commitment to sustainability is great, wish more places would get on board.
Today, I ordered a half sandwich and a very COLD cup of soup for $14. If there is a next time, I will have to make sure to check that my soup is warm before leaving.
The steak and bleu cheese sandwich was tender and full of strong but complementing flavors. The smoked pastrami was tender and the smoky flavor accompanied the beefiness of the pastrami, but the pastrami was a bit cold. Although the sandwiches were near excellent, it was extremely pricy. Good experience, would recommend.
Despite all the science available, they are still implementing a mask policy and yelling at customers taking phone calls 20 feet away away from anybody. Maybe if the employees spent time and energy making sandwhiches, they wouldnt have to charge $15 for a mediocre lunch.
This is one of those rare comments where like ... theres nothing negative to say?! Amazing food, terrific prices I think for the quality of the food, and the service is amazing! I didnt realize this was in my building I work at. Im totally gonna start coming all the time. The workers are so nice and friendly and the food is delicious.
I’m leaving this for the hours and not in lieu of the food and wish I could of had a taste of your food but you close at such an early time that I don’t how you stay afloat and like subway is open all the time and I would hope you would have hours to compete with them but I guess not! So I will try to get I. Here befor lunch but I eat in the afternoon and 3pm is like the start time to eat and you close at this time😩😱 maybe it will change how I feel but at this point I have a bad taste in my mouth and it’s from no food so I’m sorry and i hope we can be friends after this!!
Homegrown is my #1 pick lunch stop anytime I’m in Seattle. What most other organic type food providers serve is bland, boring and not pleasurable to be honest. Homegrown makes healthy taste awesome! The sunrise with ancient grains, bacon and roasted broccoli is my fav. Keep it up! I’m a dedicated regular now!
this is one of my fave lunch spots. very gluten-free friendly and delicious veg options! my standby is the zaatar chickpea sandwich. i also like the avo/egg/cheese breakfast sandwich. the seasonal soup right now is curried cauliflower and its soooo good! this place is pricey, but its a great treat once or twice a month.
The egg and bacon breakfast sandwich is amazing for savory breakfast lovers. It is a bit pricey but you get good quality ingredients for your money.
Amazing breakfast bowls, and friendly, knowledgeable staff!
Had a delicious 1/2 pastrami sandwich and clean greens meal for lunch. Service was fast but location was very loud.
Consistently good food and I love being able to order ahead and pick up quickly. The guy that runs the pickup line needs a 100% raise. I have no idea how he handles the craziness that is the lunch rush- all with a smile too!
Delicious chicken salad for 11,45$
I ordered an egg and avocado sandwich to go. There was only one waitress that I saw working at the time (approximately 5:00 p.m. on 10/7). She dumped my sandwich directly onto the counter with no paper or anything in-between the sandwich and the counter, thereby exposing my sandwich to all the germs and bacteria that were on the counter. Then she let all of the egg yolk run onto the counter and form two yellow piles. I paid for an egg and avocado sandwich, but only received an avocado sandwich since all of the egg yolk was on the counter. Of course I also received a side of bacteria. This place should be shut down and the employee should be fired.
Had the smashed chickpeas sandwich and it was full of flavor! Im so impressed and wish Id discovered this place sooner. All vegan options should be this good. Staff are friendly and fast. The space is small, but big enough for some folks to sit and enjoy a quick bite. Its close to my orthodontist, so Im looking forward to coming in whenever I have an appointment :)
A charming restaurant with a wonderful MO. Eating the locally and sustainable food makes you feel great and the customisable bowls and sandwiches mean you can eat whatever you feel like. That being said its a little bit overpriced and there isnt too much seating. Overall a good breakfast option in Seattle.
Healthy food, tasty as well! They dont have a lot of vegetarian options but the food is good and filling for a meal. I had the Spicy Braised Tofu bowl and I liked it. The Sriracha on the top is the highlight.
First time here; ordered the Greek Goddess Chicken Salad via MealPal. Ive never been in here before, so after scanning the MP sheet, I was told to pick my order up over there (had to tell the lady Ive never ordered from HG, so she clarified to go over to fridge in back corner. I grab one of the salads in there, and they all have zero toppings, just mixed greens. I got someones attention, and they grabbed a few of the greens and had someone add toppings to them. What I recieved was definitely not a complete salad. The toppings added were chicken, cucumbers and a scoop of mashed avocado...thats it. Needless to say, the salad I ordered, while the dressing was amazing, left much to be desired.
Perfection in a steak salad. Absolutely amazing! Look at that marble! Great service as well, with a warm and friendly vibe. Cheers to more spots like this excelling in sustainability.
Always wanted to try this place out for their salads, and I’m surprised at the options of salads they have to offer. I tried the avacado pesto chicken salad, it was really good! I also liked the chicken pecan sandwich. It’s a little expensive for salads. Fast service.
Good sandwiches - the pastrami is fantastic - but pretty pricey and pretty busy. More of a treat than a normal workday lunch. Order online in advance.
Favorite place to go to for lunch! Im hooked on their turkey, bacon, and avocado sandwich. I really enjoy being able to order online to avoid the lengthy lines that occur at the lunch hour. The recent renovations are definitely conducive to increased foot traffic. Overall, 5/5
I like it, but they get my order wrong. These are good sandwiches, no doubt. But on more than one occasion Ive arrived back at the office to find that I was given the wrong sandwich. The label matches my order, but the contents does not. Still tasty, but typically a cheaper meal than what I paid for.Be sure to check your order before you leave the place if youre getting takeout.
Im sorry to say, but since this location reopened from their remodel, theyve taken a sharp turn downhill both in quality of service and quality of food. It took me 40 minutes to get a cup of tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich today. The tomato soup I received was not their thick and hearty soup theyve served in the past, but a thin, pale, orange soup that barely tasted of tomato at all. The grilled cheese wasnt spared either, being straight up cold in the center. I used to recommend this Homegrown quite a bit, but if this is what theyre going to be like, there are much better places to grab lunch around.
I like the sandwiches but theyre pretty pricey. I understand locally sourced = higher costs, but for what you get and what you pay, its not really worth it for lunch during the work day. Ive also never been particularly impressed by the staff. They dont seem to take any pride in their work -- I get it, youre making sandwiches in downtown Seattle, but I often feel like my order is a burden to them, even though I try to be as easy as possible.
Nearly $20 for a bowl with salad subbed for grains and minuscule amount of chicken but tasty.
There is a white girl with yellow hair. I hate all the hate .. I wanted to change the order said I do not buy another one ... Secondly their hair is open to the possibility of falling hair in eating ... on the whole. I do not like going back to this miserable restaurant all hateful
Delicious food, but very expensive. I have to complain because I have a nut allergy and I have ordered their matcha chicken avocado bowl a few times and told them about my allergy, and several times Ive felt my throat start to swell up. I thought it was a fluke but this time was much worse, they are clearly not super careful when it comes to dangerous allergies.
Homegrown shares the place with few other businesses in a rustic building with exposed beams and brickwork - its built like a modern canteen with open kitchen and a menu board. Their name to fame is ‘farm to bowl’. I ordered Matcha Chicken bowl ($10.95+tax). A very tasty bowl of mixed greens, warm chicken pieces with avocado etc. I wanted a low carb food and this was perfect!
Decent sandwiches & nice staff. However, I think its a little overpriced for what you get. I find there are lots of options in the area where you can get more sandwich / wrap for the same price range (10-15 bucks)
Im not from Seattle so this review may be somewhat bias. The food is great, full of flavor and freshness. My only complaint is that the portions are smaller and prices are higher than what I am use to. They also have coffee from Stumptown which is a pleasant bonus!
I don’t know his name but I was waiting at the counter and it had been a little bit, no one was up front. He came and took my order even though he was on break. Excellent service always, I come here once a week at least! Great food, definitely recommend the matcha chicken bowl.
Came here three mornings in a row for their breakfast, I had the avocado, egg and cheese sandwich and it was delicious. I took some of their hot sauce home that is made locally, so good!
Let me start with this , I am not much into sandwiches. But when I see this place thought to try one. First its 100% organic, local , fresh and tasty. They have lot of options for vegetarian, vegan , meat lovers. Definitely I found my lunch time spot . Means its in downtown and best . I loved sandwich and soup. You can definitely can come and give try without worry.
First time ever trying this place. They have a great menu, fast and friendly service. I got a capresse sandwich and it is unbelievable. It is a little pricey but very much worth it for the quality of food. Cant wait to go there next time.
Great food but overpriced for somewhat small portion size. The space is has a clean look and smells great - progressively bright lime green colored pillars pep up an otherwise rather stark industrial space. Lots of young liberal types around. If youre trying to date someone with the classic liberal mindset this is probably a good place to eat lunch everyday. You can see the space where they make the food - everything appears clean and tidy. Theyre not super-fast, but certainly fast enough considering the number of people ahead of us.I had the whole size tri-tip sandwich - no soup for me. It was 12.80$, after tax 14.03$. It should have been about 9$ tops. I wouldnt have complained if it was 16$, and 1/3 larger with about 1/3 more toppings - then I would have said pricey, but worth it.I couldnt help but get the feeling that the overpricing and the portion size were not related. I think they consider themselves "socially responsible" and part of that means, theyre not going to let you overeat. The salt and pepper on the tables gently lets you know how controlling these "Socially Responsible" types can be. First, the salt and pepper are together in the same container, so if you prefer just pepper or just salt or something other than the ratio theyve chosen for you, youre out of luck. Second, the salt & pepper grinder is adorned high grade plastic stickers (not very green btw): one tells you the salt is "solar evaporated, mineral rich sea salt from the most beautiful place on earth." (San Juan Island); the other tells you the pepper is organic - of course!!! The main label spells salt using geographic outline of San Juan Island as the "L". Its enough to make you feel like youre living in an episode of Portlandia, so maybe this is a tourist destination if youre in Seattle, and dont want to go all the way down to Portland? Who knows...Food is good although overpriced with small portions.
They forgot the dressing for my takeout order, so perhaps it would be better had it been dressed. The chicken salad had poor quality chicken and instead of chopped hard boiled egg, it was scrambled. Cold chunks of scrambled egg on dry spinach leaves are not tasty. Had to dump a $12 salad. Back to Evergreens it is, for much less.
Simple sandwiches made with quality ingredients. Certainly on the expensive side for what is essentially a high class more ethically and environmentally superior subway. Service is nice enough, but not friendly and a bit slow but fair given the higher quality. Not the best sandwich for the money but you cant go wrong and there are a few locations in town.
I had half of the steak and cheddar sandwich because the whole was $12. This sandwich was super tiny and had more onions than anything else on it. I counted three bites of steak on there. For $6. Cant say I was satisfied.
Disappointed....I got the chicken salad with cherries, spicy pecans, arugula and aioli. The chicken was cheap and grizzly, the aioli tasted nothing better than everyday mayo and the "spicy" pecans?!!! There was nothing spicy about them! My husband got a sandwhich, a lemonade, and chips as well for $33 total (I only had the sandwhichI couldve had a food truck meal on any corner better than this for less! Not going again, overpriced and overrated.
A solid, if a tad expensive, locally sources sandwich shop. Ive eaten at two Homegrown locations, and both are consistently tasty. The menu is full of straightforward offerings that should satisfy most palates. Not a whole lot of vegetarian/vegan options, but the menu is pretty short in general.
