Unfortunately after waiting 45 min for our starters, one didnt arrive, then another 15min wait. 4 of us had roast diners which were only warm, I sent mine back as my yorkshire pudding was as cold as it could get. I also saw another customer place his dinner on the bar asking for it to go back.We chose this pub because it had a good review, I just wonder who wrote the review. It says the pub has changed hands a few times recently, I strongly suspect it wont be long before it changes its name again. When we were asked how the meal was I told the waiter it was very poor, he just replied "ok" and walked away, not a care in the world.I should have known better, when We walked in at 1pm on a sunday and the place is quiet....says a lot.We certainly would not go back.Very poor overall
Really delicious food, beautifully presented also. The landlord and landlady very hard working and friendly, and have created a really nice dining experience.
Food was interesting especially the cauliflower steak and cooked well. Problem with the evening were two men who were loud and foul mouthed and didnt wear masks when moving around. Nothing was said and unfortunately we didnt follow other people who moved to a different part of the restaurant. Cast a shadow over the evening.
Great little pub, all of our food was very tasty. Would definitely recommend the burger, was homemade with fresh ingredients.
Really nice friendly staff and great service! We ordered a tonne of Fish and Chips (a few adults and children!), and all came out excellent. Inside is spacious with lots of hand sanitsers too for Covid situation, outdoor seating available which we didnt use as it was getting a bit nippy! Very family friendly, also convenient as local close to a play ground up the road too! :)
I have visited this place quite a few times through the last few years but my recent visit was a very big disappointment. My former review was a crystal clear 5 star but something has changed. Waiter was doing a fine job but the food was terrible. Burnt bread on the starter and main dish with mashed potatoes from instant powder. Place was comfy and clean with a fine range of beer on tap. I cannot say I will be coming back and I can not recommend this place anymore. Google says cash only but you can easily pay by card
Just had a faultless meal here after reading reviews. We had the slow cooked brisket mezze platter special and the pork belly shared between us, and all the elements of the meals were delicious. From the booking, through to being seated ( we arrived 15 mins early, table readyto the thoughtful, friendly never intrusive service, everything has been excellent. Proper, grown up eating that I will happily drive over the Cotswolds for again. A new favourite, thanks Home.
The food in this place is simply fantastic. Unfortunately when we went there had been an electrical fault so the menu was limited, however what we did have was fantastic. For starters we had the mussels and the cauliflower soup, and for mains we had their specials, a brisket and a beef stew. All the food was fantastic. The staff were absolutely amazing; incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Overall it was a great place for dinner. My only critique is I think the website could do with a bit more detail on the menu. I understand that the menu changes regularly based on seasonal ingredients and local availability, but I think it would be easier for customers if the website had a current menu available. It would just add a tiny bit more to the already great customer experience.
Food were fresh and not greasy. Wait staff are friendly and attentive.
This is our neighbourhood pub and we just love it. Food has been consistently good over 4-5 visits now and the ambiance is just lovely. The only complaint we have is that one Sunday lunch was extremely slow - it took a full hour between ordering and our food arriving and we had several times to go to the bar to ask for water. This may have been a one-off however. Highly encourage a visit!
A lovely beautiful restaurant serving all kinds of dishes - sea food, fish, meat and vegeterian. Some of the dishes we had were very very good and unique flavoured (king prawn starter and the lamb special, cauliflower soupbut the minute steak wasnt a successful dish, it was frankly unchewable and the restaurant couldnt provide a suited cutting knife. Other than that the service was friendly and nice. Prices are a bit high but was a nice overall experience!
Gorgeous evening of fantastic food, drinks and especially service. They really know thier menu and take great care to explain everything and make you feel at home. Absolutely loved it.
Lovely food! Nice staff
Im doing this review because I think the place deserves some recognition. They handled an allergy extremely well and the staff were pleasant. The food was spot on.
Never dissapoints. Busy at times, but that is generally due to the excellence of the diverse menu.Perfect for many occasions - a quick drink, intimate meal or celebration.
This place is great. Was within walking distance of our B&B and came highly recommended by the locals. Delicious, high quality food and stocked with local brews as well as others. Ran by a brother-sister team who were very pleasant and knowledgeable about the food and drink. I highly recommend!
Quality food and good atmosphere. The waitress went to great lengths to describe the food in detail. First time here but well no doubt come back.
Excellent food with a warm, welcoming and friendly service. Dont keep driving past and wondering what Home is like. Go there. You wont be disappointed.
This has got to be our best find in Oxford!Walked in to a beautiful and unique decor, friendly greating, a beer and a wine list!Choose homemade bread delicious and home made gnocchi, best thing Ive ever tasted and then a salmon main course! All of which was so increadble we had to stay for a pudding! Peanutbutter chunks and fig who thinks of that some kind of genius! Owned by Tamara and her brother, they have a garnaian and a Hungarian chef clearly they make a great team! seriously if you are in the area go here! Also I must say we found it very reasonable value for money the whole meal less than Β£80!
Really great food not to miss!Been there 3 times now and each time the food has been outstanding. The Sunday roast is to die for. Big portions with very good quality greens. The beer selection is also great with beers brewed locally. Worth every penny...
This place was genuinely good. Gatropubs can be a variable feast, but all 3 courses for 2 people chosing different dishes were excellent. Recommend unreservedly.
Went for sunday roast. Roasted vegetables were really delicious. Will return to try other dishes.
Absolutely lovely home cooked foodPresentation of the food made it look amazing. Pan fried chicken is juicy and a set of flavours that complement each other. The piccolo parsnips go excellent my with the bavette steak. the steak it self was cooked perfectly and the serve some lovely gins
I had the steak which was lovely, melted in the mouth. The banana bread and ice-cream was also great. The food is well priced, around Β£17 for the steak. The pub and staff were nice and welcoming and the service was prompt.
My husband & I went last night to celebrate his birthday. Home was recommended to me 6 months ago by someone who works there. I am so glad we went. The service, food & attention to detail was so good! The atmosphere there is exactly what you want from a nice restaurant.
Lovely place, delicious food, lovely hosts! Do recommend!
Lovely food and service was good. I had pork belly and lentils which was cooked really well and prepared well. My friend had lamb chops which was also cooked very well. Cheesecake desert was also very nice and the coffee was awesome.
Lovely atmosphere, great food and very attentive service from staff and owners who clearly care lots about what they do - highly recommended! I took my parents here and we all had a great evening. Feels more special than a night out at a pub but without feeling stuffy. Lovely, relaxed, welcoming atmosphere and the staff couldnt have been nicer or more attentive. I had the vegan main option which was great (properly tasty, not just a token effort!). For dessert, the sorbet selection (also veganwas delicious. My parents and partner all thoroughly enjoyed their choices too. Thanks for lovely evening!
A fantastic meal in a location you wouldnβt expect. The homemade sausage rolls were of a very high standard and the Asian style steak main really grew on me. The service was really good. There was a large group dining at the same time as us but it seemed not to have an impact at all on the service. Great selection of beers to accompany the meal too. Love the home-made philosophy and it makes for great food.
Very cosy place and friendly people. Delicious food. Also very nice vegetarian, vegan and glutenfree options.
Lovely food and staff. We were passing through and ate here, thought it was great. Cosy warm atmosphere and great menu.
Great place, staff are welcoming and friendly and lovely ambience. Food was fantastic, all freshly prepared, cooked well and not over priced. Disappointed I dont live nearer, as Id definitely be returning!
Absolutely amazing food in this pub. The place is bright and cheery with simple and classic decor. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, offering both suggestions on their menu and recommendations for things to do and places to try in other neighbouring towns. We ordered the chicken, lamb and cod and each dish was on point. We were told that they refresh the menu ever 4 to 5 weeks. The standard British food is elevated with creative touches and elements that you would not usually expect. Like risotto balls with the pan seared cod. Definitely a memorable meal and I would love the opportunity to return for another meal.If you have the chance, grab a brownie at the bar. Its fudgy with a crispy top. Everything a good brownie should be.
Amazing service from every member of staff. Tables spaced out nicely so you dont feel cramped. Food and drink was excellent. All round thumbs up π
Had a great lunchtime meal here, the interior is clutter free, industrial, and had some decent music to up the ambienace. My folks had come down to see my young family. The hostess was very welcoming and accomodating for us. I had an amazing slow cooked pulled beef dish with a gratin with a nice jus which was delisious. Everyone else enjoyed the food, including the little one dining from the kids menu.
A tasteful modern update of a long established venue. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, good selection of drinks and real ales, and an imaginative well cooked menu. One point of note was that the cheese selection which I thought was excellent and great value to boot.Final special mention of the music playlist which was top notch.A great addition to the area and I will certainly be returning.
We visited HOME on Sunday for lunch. The whole experience was fantastic. Lovely cauliflower soup and amazing roast. Staff super friendly and attendive. Will be back soon :Btw love your crockery
Awesome burger, really beautiful beef cooked medium rare. And the best chips. They do a great range of beers but as I was driving I couldnt partake π
Thank you for our lovely meal last night. The menu was interesting (Ive never had artichoke soup), food tasty and the service attentive. Window seat was a bit uncomfortable though.. opt for the chairs!
An excellent pub! Oxford so badly needs a larger selection of decent venues, such as this. You would think wed be spoilt for choice, but no. Add this place to the list of small venues that genuinely have good pub food. The selection of beer is exactly what you want to see. A genuine recommendation!
Great vibe! Great staff ! Great food!Had the spicy aubergine and halloumi burger , was delicious, flavours really worked well together. Staff were really friendly. Orange brownie for dessert finished off a great meal.
The food in this pub is absolutely outstanding! ! I have just had the best meal ever & plan to return next week. I am overjoyed! Im so pleased to have come across this amazing gastropub which has recently opened & run by a local family who use local, fresh produce. To start I had the beetroot which was beautifully presented & equally tasty followed by their "Signature mussels",with chorizo, spring onions , garlic & chilli which was to die for! I had a chat with the owner who was delightful. She said she runs it with her husband & I think her brother in law. The chef is from Ghana . I hope he never leaves but I doubt if he will as Im sure these people are lovely to work for!Keep up the good work "Home & I wish you all the very best for a bright & happy future! ππΌππΌππΌ
Very nice pub with good sevice and tasty food. They even have a closed outside garden which is ideal for kids.
The most unusual menu Ive seen. Very friendly and efficient service, delicious well-presented food, attractive surroundings, reasonable prices. You need to book to be sure of a table - a good feature, unless youve forgotten to do so and cant get in.
What a fab new pub. Got chatting to the landlords - lovely and multitalented couple - he even made the furniture! Great food, great gin (loving the elderflower tonic). Nice atmosphere, would come again.
The menu is great and the food simply delicious. The reviews led us to this place and the quality of service has been impeccable. We have been welcomed warmly every time we have gone and they recognise us now which is so nice. Their wine is great and they are happy to make cocktails not on the list. They make an outstanding whiskey sour. We shall be making more regular visits I am sure.
Great food, really great service. Have been a couple of times, once just for a drink and last night for food and cant fault the place. Small but varied wine list. Sensible menu with something for most tastes and the most accommodating staff you could hope for.
The food was great and the staff were fantastic. Not a dramatic range of items on the menu but there is plenty for everyone and the attention to detail really makes the difference.Any place with a kids menu like they have, has got to be admired and tried.
Ive been a few times and the beer selection is great and I had a burger on my last visit and was blown away (lob a black pudding up in there). Staff are friendly too, 5 stars
This pub has recently reopened as Home. They do a wide variety of snacks and pub food. All excellent and tasty. The interior is very stylish and the staff very friendly. Dogs also welcome.
