Kensington Olympia, 31-33 Holland Rd, Kensington, London W14 8HJ, Ati
Occupying 2 Victorian townhouses on a residential street, this casual hotel is a 4-minute walk from Kensington tube station, 0.9 miles from Earl's Court tube station and 1.5 miles from the Natural History Museum.Straightforward rooms have TVs, and tea and coffeemaking facilities. Wi-Fi access is available for a surcharge.Complimentary continental breakfast is provided.
Dont go to this hotel if you are looking for a luxury accommodation with every comfort. Rather go if you are happy with an economic, small, clean room at a convenient location! Reception staff is fast and will help you with anything you may need
Needed inexpensive place to stay after missing last train. 24hr front desk and porter very welcoming, and breakfast a bonus.
Arrived after a very bad experience in another hotel to find the most welcoming staff understanding and wide clean rooms,I recommend this hotel any time especially for families thank you all the staff and management for the great service and experience ❤️❤️❤️
Been in bigger liftsMouldy walls, squeaky flooring broken shower head holder, window doesnt stay open unless you bodge it with some metal things they supplied that arent safe (it slipped and crushed my hand between window and bars outside the windows)3 beds 2 blankets i got a sheet
Clean rooms with shower room , tv, kettle etc.Close to the no.9 bus route which gives great access to Kensington Palace, High Street Kensington, Harrods and central london (Piccadilly circus, covent garden etc.). Walking distance to Earls Court and Shepherds Bush. Awesome breakfast. Helpful staff. Local pub over the road and plenty of local shops for fresh food, snacks etc. Great value
First time Im so strongly disappointed by a place and the quality of service. And first time ever I put a negative score. Ill just say I wont ever go back to this hotel for a lot of different reasons
The staffs were very nice and friendly. Love the services. The hotel was old, but clean. Everything you needed was provided.Yet, it seemed like the walls and floors were made of paper. I can here everyone walked pass and other guests talked on the phone.Good for short stay for finishing some takes, but might not suitable for a vacation.
Stayed in a front facing room which was so small the double bed was pushed against a wall which made it difficult to get in and out of and no air conditioning so to cool the room down had to open the window and boy was it a noisy road.We stayed for 2 nights and when we arrived back exhausted after the first night all the staff had done was pulled the duvet up and had not remade the bed .Only 1/2 a toilet roll and one cup for the whole 2 days and I when checked the mattress UGH looked like someone had Sh*t the bed .Would not recommend this hotel to anyone and not cheap either .Breakfast was a joke cold coffee, slimy cheese slices and the"restaurant" was so hot again no air conditioning I repeat Do Not Use This Hotel
Good value for money, great location and very clean. A pity you cant sleep very well because the walls are too thin and you can hear your neighbors conversation....
Good value for money. Nice breakfast area. As with most of these hotels it is only let down by the tired carpet.
Place was brilliant... Good price, close enough to Earls Court station to walk. Everyone was super friendly, and the manager Ana was wonderful upon checkout. Had everything we needed in the room, it was super quiet in our room, and the beds were comfy. Will definitely stay there again.
If I listed all the negative things about this hotel Id be writing this review for days. For £40 for one night as a little stop over (somewhere just to sleepwas just about acceptable. If you get it for cheap go for it, otherwise Id advise to look elsewhere.
A quaint little place with basic amenities for the budget oriented, but what it may lack in luxuries it certainly makes up in friendliness from the lovely Joana and her sister , who will receive you like family . London has many places to stay but it is rare to receive genuine caring service, and that in my books is what always counts most.
I choose this place as it was convenient to go to an expo in Olympia. Only positive thing I can say about this hotel is the porter. I feel sorry for him. Avoid rooms facing the street. Absolutely say no to lower ground rooms. It happened to me the classic case when you are completely covered with soap and the hotel runs out of hot water. I waited quite long and fall asleep around 1pm (waiting to be able to shower). I tried to call reception at first but the phone was dead in my room. Anyway it makes me just laugh. Now one thing is important to mention. My room is a deathtrap and I know what Im saying. It would definitely fail on our inspection.
Clean and friendly and reasonably priced accommodation in London. A busy road so quite noisy traffic. Staff were very friendly, chatty and helpful. Breakfast, continental help yourself. Great for Olympia Earls Court exhibition halls. Nice pub The Crown and Sceptre across the road. Flowers outside were a welcome touch.
I worked in this hotel 20 years ago, the reviews are shocking, we used to make cooked full English breakfast and the hotel was spotless. Some rooms I can see they still have the same curtains, same wall lighting as same picture frames and furniture!!!
Bathrooms absolutely TINY and no hot water in shower! Lift was permanently out of service and my mum struggled to climb the stairs with her rheumatoid arthritis
Good place to stay if youre looking for a cheap place to stay. The hallway is small, the rooms are decent, but narrow. They keep it clean!
Very, very noisy room over the street, with a lot hell of a traffic, couldnt sleep well. The breakfast is lame and served in a very tiny room underground. We had almost no hot water, couldnt take 2 showers in a row, and the first one was often cold at the end. And the cleanliness was barely average, with nothing done the last day of our stay...The location is very difficult to go if you want to enjoy London. Go only if you have to attend a concert to the Olympia. Overly priced.
Air conditioning doesn’t work. Shower doesn’t work properly (it’s either cold or piping hotpipes bang when hot. Very small room behind reception and you can hear all the noise from the streets. Wouldn’t recommend.
Staff is very friendly and professional, breakfast is decent. Only the room looks terrible and dirty...don’t expect to much.
Very good value for the money, it’s right in the centre of London with bus access to everywhere around really, staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are en suit. The only downside is the noise you can hear from around the room through the thin walls and quirky ceiling. But very good value for the money.
Dreadful service , basically they take payment 2 days before your stay then expect you to pay at hotel, cancelled within time frame but not according to them.. they’re extremely rude and unhelpful, basically paid for a room I never stayed in as couldn’t afford to pay twice then they refuse refund. If your looking for a nice relaxing stay in London DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS you want to be robbed
DO NOT BOOK A ROOM HERE!!!! THIS HOTEL SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO FUNCTION!!!!!!Weve checked out in the first 5 minutes of being there. The walls were full of mould and the smell was unbearable. There were stains on the lower part of the walls that I dont even want to imagine how they got there and what type of stains they were. It looked like there was a leak in the bathroom as there was water everywhere on the floor. Its hard to imagine how they are still in business. Someone should inspect this hotel and CLOSE IT DOWN!
Location was great, staff were lovely there was a complacation with over booking so we had to change rooms after the 1st night which was fine because the 1st room was utterly awful unclean and huge damp patch in the shower room. 2sd room was simple but quite nice though.
A few problems with the hotel.AC was main issue, as it was very noisy. Moreover it is centrally controled. On my stay it was a hot day, so AC blew warm air that you cant turn down. Upon inspection, it was covered in filth. Fan in room didnt work at all, so pretty much sewated all night.Shower in morning didnt drain properly, so had to stop after 1 minute to prevent bathroom flooding.Breakfast didnt look appealing. Down dirty stairs to a dirty dining room. Un-refridgerated milk, and sweaty cheese.Staff were helpful, however complete lack of manager meant they couldnt do a thing to help. Was not even able to speak to him on the phone, only offered email to make complaint.Would not stay here again.
For American travelers looking for a reasonable and English guest experience I love this place. Great breakfast and cozy rooms
Stayed here 2 times. The staff are lovely and accommodated my request to move to a quieter room at the back. Its a basic, but clean, hotel with a very basic breakfast.I will probably stay here again.
very nice and clean hotel located in a nice position so you can get anywhere in london by very good bus service and metro. the italian girl at reception was very friendly and kind. we’ll come back for sure.
Super friendly staff when I checked in and the room was great. Convenient location, good en suite and awesome price!
Budget hotel and room are bit small. One good thing is it is located much near to City connectivity and nearby restaurants. Rooms are small but they are well maintained and having good furniture and bathroom fittings.Morning Breakfast is very pathetic. They open it every morning for two hours and breakfast stocks are much limited. The more you are late to have Breakfast, the least are the chances you will hardly get Breakfast. So, if you are a early morning bird for breakfast then its good for you here.My stay in this hotel was overall good as I found the place where this hotel is located very convenient in terms of City center and other Attraction commutation during my London tour. Its nearly 100 meters and you will find buses running towards or from City center
Very small but clean , shower took ages to heat up and then wasnt very hot and continental breakfast was what it was , the cleaning staff started early at six woke me up and when I went out side to smoke nearly tripped over pile of clean bedding and towels outside my door
The room was awful, the wind was getting inside through the window, so they suggested to put some towels by the window. The tv signal was poor, the wi-fi was down for 3 days.
Not too bad. Room was a bit tatty, with dents and marks on walls, ceiling and furniture. Flooring was very worn too. Bed was comfortable though and shower good. Being refurbished so the problems may be addressed after that.5 mins walk from Olympia though so very convenient.
This was the smallest and worst "hotel" Ive ever stayed at. Ive been to over 25+ different hotels in all parts of the world and this was one of the worst. It was pretty dirty and needs a deep clean badly. The "beds" were the worst part. Had a terrible time sleeping and my neck and back hurt after each night. I wish I paid more and stayed in a normal hotel. I couldnt get a good night sleep.
When you book a hotel room, you expect a clean room with minimum facilities. However the room we got was dirty beyond measure and the flush in the washroom doesnt work. The noises from the neighbouring rooms and hallways! Good lord the noises. Stay away if you have a choice.
Shabby rooms, tiny tv sets and every time I asked for something in the reception, I felt like I was disturbing the person there. It took them 10 minutes to find the wi fi password!Three person room felt like staying in a maze, with a tiny bathroom and the lighting the worst I´ve ever seen in any building.
The room for triple room is quite small.I think the bed is too old but the bed sheet is ok.Breakfast doesnt look good but still feed me for three days.
Decent hotel in good location, great price as we booked our stay on the same day due to a last minute cancellation. Still well priced if you book in advance. Continental breakfast included was a nice bonus.
One of my worst experiences ever. The only good thing about the hotel is its location as its relatively central. Apart from that, I cant say a single good thing about it. Weve booked a twin en-suite room and what we got was something the size of a closet (2/3 meters). The heater didnt work and when I asked for extra blanket the receptionist said they didnt have extra blankets. One of us had to sit on the squeaky bed if the other one wanted to move around. The so-called continental breakfast consisted in bread, hard-boiled eggs, sliced cheese and instant coffee. Honestly, Ive see better conditions in two-star hotels and for less money.
The good points - bathroom was fine, shower was good and the hotels location is fine for public transport or a 30 minute walk to Hyde Park. The staff are friendly enough. End of good points. The bad points - it could be a decent, acceptable budget hotel but I assume the owners are too lazy to bother. Our radiator and its housing hasnt seen a hoover since I assume the time of Queen Victoria. It also seemed to be stuck on furnace mode. It did a grand job of heating up the dust and germs and left me and my partner with a nice illness. The sounds of a man being sick every morning in an adjacent room leads me to believe this isnt an isolated incident. I guess the bed used to have springs, again I assume around the time of Queen Victoria. As it is now, well need months at a chiropractor to see us right again. No mattress protector, which is a shame as I think a ritualistic sacrifice must have previously taken place there. I didnt dare try the breakfast as hygiene wasnt their strong suit so I cant comment on that. Try at your own risk. The place is empty enough and cheap enough that you could probably take your mistress or any paid company you may have acquired. Equally if your family has just found out about your mistress it may be a useful place to lay low for a time.If they incinerate the current mattresses, use a hoover and allow control of the radiators then I could be a solid 2.5/5
Rooms were the size of a shoebox, beds were camping bases with a lumpy mattress on top. Breakfast was a major disaster, cornflakes or toast. The lift keeps going even when the door is open. The walls are paper thin so all noise can be heard all over the hotel. The windows are just as bad. Not going to be recommending to anyone.
The place is confortable for only one person and only if you will stay no more than 2 nights, after that could be unconfortable. The breakfast is really poor.
Unimpressed with the room...double bed pushed up against the wall meant that could only get out one side of the bed. The breakfast was toast and cereal....glorious...not worth the money...
Friendly staff and clean rooms. Beds a bit squeaky. But nice hotel good location.
Rooms are a bit dated stuck in the late 90s all rooms en suite, lift to all floors, direct dial phones, mini bars, trouser press/hair dryers tea and coffee makng facilities, all rooms air conditioned, continental and english breakfasts, hotel bar and lounge, outdoor patio garden, 24 hr reception/check in/out, wi-fi.Not a bad stay off of Kensington High St, and The Olympia will stay again perfect for a few days in London perfect location.
Really tiny room we stayed in. Could hear just about everything that went on outside and in the passageway. Breakfast was included in the price however did not have much of a choice.
Great value for money. Location is perfect & great accessibility by public transport. Front desk personnel are friendly, efficient, eager to help, always greeting you with a smile & will give you all sorts of insights about the area. Breakfast buffet continental ( jams, butter, toast, 1 kind of cheese, cereal, juice, fresh brew coffee, tea, powdered hot chocolate), always well stocked, clean, operates 7.30 to 9.30, cozy breakfast room friendly atmosphere guests often mingled over coffee which was nice. Room for improvement in the beds, felt quite uncomfortable for my bad back gave me quite an ache, frontdesk offered a different room but it was too short a stay for the hastle. Room on the bottom floor had a brilliant sunlit view, was very clean & coffee set well stocked. On some days I suppose the cleaners changed & one day they were essentially sloppy with servicing the room, frontdesk was happy to receive the complaint, but honestly they were too nice about it I didnt press it. Next day all was prestine so I expect theyve had a talk with their cleaning team.Good value for a budget stay altogether. They might want to sort the beds out though. Will definitely stay again.
We stayed here in Sept. 2016 for four nights and booked through Hotwire, to be honest in over 40 years of travel this is the worst hotel in which I have stayed. The window frames were covered in potentially harmful black mold, the shower enclosure frame base had caked on scum, the bathroom smelled like backed up sewer (the response from the management was to provide us with a spray can of air freshener--Really), the hallway carpets were horribly stained black an smelled as though they had zero cleaning maintenance done to them. The reception staff were some of the most unfriendly and unhelpful people in the hospitality business, to engage in any minimal conversion or ask for information or directions was an unwelcome intrusion. What perturbed us the most was the fact that they were unable to preform the most basic of standard hotel duties: for example we had requested a early wake up call and calling for a taxi to the train station as we had an early train to Paris. This request was made on two occasions, but these requests were not fulfilled, in fact when we approached reception in the morning we were directed to find one on the street. WOW! Fortunately we dragged all out luggage up the street to the Hilton where the helpful staff could ascertain our dilemma and cordially assisted us in getting a taxi (even though we were not staying at their establishment). This is the first Time Ive ever commented on accommodation but in this case I felt compelled. I hope any others that may consider booking here a the Holland Court Hotel seriously RECONSIDER.This Hotel is rated as a *** hotel I wish the person that rated this place would stay here for just one night to reassess this rating. This property gets no stars in my book.
This was one of the worst experiences I have had in a Hotel, As soon as you enter the Hotel the place is Dirty. The Owners of the Hotel are arrogant and rude. The Photographs they have taken make the place appear much bigger than it actually is. I booked for 3 days with Expedia with my 2 boys. My youngest child is 5 years old. The Television was broken in the room and the bedding was dirty, The Quilt cover was covered with Urine and other bodily fluids. The staff refused to do anything about it, They were in total denial of the state of the Hotel. This place is a disgrace and should have a warning on it. The bathroom was tiny and Dirty. The walls were covered with human matter. I strongly recommend anyone not to go to this place.
