Once a classic dive, this completely redone space now has a swanky look, food & big-time drinks.
Fun bar, but me and all of my friends just want to ask, please, can you take the music volume from 11 to like a 9? Weve been there twice in last 2 weeks and left w a hoarse voice both times. Nobody is here to dance or listen to music, let us talk and enjoy drinks and friends!
I visited from Australia and really enjoyed this place. Thank you
This place should be the first and last stop of your NYC visit. Thank you to Tyler for being truly the best host one can be and can only say that the Holiday Cocktail Lounge will forever be my first stop in NYC no matter what. The level of hospitality and kindness is truly amazing. Welcome to NYC.
Cool spot. Awesome vibe. Great cocktails. Average food
My new favorite local spot. Great drinks and the staff is awesome!
Great atmosphere, bartender made my Aviation perfectly. She also made my special request for an Appleton daiquiri very well even though shes never made it before.
Old East Village dive bar on St. Marks, now refurbished with Meatpacking prices. Plenty of better, cheaper options all over the place.

Hidden gem in Manhattan: great cocktails and food!
Great date night spot. The drinks are super fun and tasty. Fair prices. Ambiance is very chill. They have music playing but not extremely loud. Friendly staff.
Excellent bar and of course espresso martini to power your through all night.Ambients and bar tenders are great.
If I could give no stars I would, when I say the worst I mean WORST service I have ever received. Waited 20 min for a bartender to finally take my order and when I tried to order 4 drinks I was disregarded and told to come back later. Despite the fact that she had just wasted 10 minutes showing off her Instagram to another customer, my complicated request for their specialty menu overpriced cocktails was pushing the limit. The vibe here is gross, prehistoric, and misogynistic with a dash of gaslighting. I will make it my last dying effort to spread the word to never go to this disgrace of an establishment. The bouncer was nice…the star is for him❤️
Its good, cocktails were good and they gave me a little dinosaur toy with my drink. Service was... ok, not great though.
Sort of a divey speakeasy with a fun bartender who makes great drinks. Food is definitely "bar food", but those drinks....Mmmm
The staff were A++. Asked to sit outside and the bouncer set up a table & chairs just for us. Great drinks, too! Love St Marks and was a treat to go to a local haunt.
This place is fine in a pinch, if youre in the area. They don’t have air conditioning which is a bummer during the summer. Drinks are above average and they keep their coupes/martini glasses on ice (glassware is kept cooler than the patronswhich is a nice touch. Music is pretty random and can swing from heavy metal to 60s rock, hip hop and back. Definitely not the best bar in the area and there are much better options around.
Staff are engaged and personable. Drinks are average (a bit syrupy). A fantastic place to start the night with friends...not a prestige location.
Incredible and quiet fun. The bartender is beautiful, the bar is comforting, the drinks are Great and the atmosphere is a quiet storm of fun and good times. One of the BEST BARS you can enjoy in the city
The host and the bartender was awesome. Great vibe! Drinks....... yesssssss. Only had the fries but that was good!
I came during an off time on a Sunday and somewhat glad I did that. Since we came during off time, we got way too much attention from our waiters. That was a bit annoying to be honest because it was as if we couldnt stay unless we kept ordering more and more stuff. The menu has a good variety but they were out of a few items when we went. This time also meant that there werent many people playing so lots of open tables for both sitting and playing.
If you could, please, pass on my gratitude to your whole squad, I would really appreciate it. The party was a great success, and they all enjoyed themselves. Drinks to music. Once again, thank you for the best bar you have to enjoy!
Grungy dive bar vibes with great service. Has an outdoor patio in the back. The photo attached has an espresso martini, Negroni, fried pickles (ranch was really good), smores nachos.
Cool bartenders. Dive ish type of bar with good food and drinks. Cocktails menu very creative . Prices are around $14 for house cocktails. The vibe is very very low key. Young ish crowd
Came here for happy hour with my girls after a casual workday. The happy hour deals are pretty great and the drinks do their job. My friend and I had their vegan veggie sliders "snack" which was way more delicious than expected from a dive bar. Ill definitely be going back!
Had a great time here with the bf. The bar food is VERY GOOD. The east village sandwich has sauerkraut, kielbasa, and pickles and is basically a twist on a really excellent Cuban sandwich and Reuben. Drinks were great. And happy hour specials are a good deal. The atmosphere was super cute and the place was not too crowded.
Google the history of this place if you don’t know it. Renovated from the scrappy funky amazing dive bar it used to be, but done well. The magic of the old bar is there and the service is good. The nostalgic wood paneling is intact, as well as the open tables and open room for crowds. Gone are the potent smells of the old haunt, but that’s ok. Some of us are just glad it’s still a bar, and still contains the soul of the old joint. Excellent location to jump to or from dinner, or eat some pub food there. A bastion of the old village, and yet a place to get cocktails for you or your date. If you haven’t been, google it and go. If you know it, it’s an old friend whenever you need it. Cheers.
Only stopped in for a quick bevy on the way to brunch but the cocktails were delicious and need to go back soon.
5 out of 5 just for being saved from destruction. You need to see the old mural the saved from the "Dance club" it was in the 40s??. Great cocktails, good beer selection, the space is all in dark tones, which keeps it quiet, and very warm and inviting.Go, just to see a part of NY that was not destroyed.
Rustic bar with an "nothing has changed here in the last 30 years" feeling.
I took the love of my life here for our first date, and have been back many times since. The bartenders are incredible, and the drinks are fantastic (delicious Old Fashioned). The staff was also incredibly helpful in helping me organize a surprise party for my fiance after I proposed. Easily one my favorite cocktail bars.
This place was great! Casual crowd, friendly bartenders, unique and intimate seating - we got a cozy corner booth that was adorable! Happened to show up during happy hour, when rail drinks were only $5 and a few food items only $3. French fries looked delicious and gave a generous portion. Unpretentious crowd. Highly recommend
Very loud but fun natured atmosphere. Not a relaxing spot, we had to yell, but our cocktails were pretty good and prices seemed "normal" to me, at least for Manhattan. Both times the bar was "understaffed" for the amount of patrons and kind of going out of their minds, but we got service at the bar without an issue or long wait. Its also a very small bar area, so theyre definitely doing the best they can.If you want super fancy cocktails in a relaxing atmosphere, not for you. Otherwise, worth a visit if youre having ramen or something nearby.
Its very kitschy and cute with some excellent drinks deals at the happy hours. It can get really loud later on, but earlier on its a great place to hang out and have a good selection of beers, friendly staff and less of an intense vibe that some of the other bars around.
My fiancé and I hit up the holiday bar mid day on a week day. We loved the ambiance and were blown away by the customer service. The bartender manager Eric welcomed us and whipped us up delicious cocktails after finding out what we liked (as should any great bartender). We had a conversation about difference between good and great bartenders. Eric was so pleasant and wished us a big congrats for our engagement the day before. We asked him his favorite things to hit up close and was spot on with the recommendations. He even suggested we head over right away if we wanted a seat at a happy hour down the block. Then when the check came turned over I realized he had given us our cocktails for Free! He even was hesitant to accept a $20 bill as a thank you.Hey Eric if you are reading this you are the difference between good and great. Learning what your guests tastes are what they have going on in their lives. You made us feel special. You have customers for life. Thank you!Hope we can throw back some tequila next time we are in town. You must go see Eric!
The cocktails are delicious, but its the bartenders and music that bring this bar to life. Theres nothing people want more than to belt out their favorite nostalgic rock songs from the 80s, 90s, and early 00s with their friendly neighborhood bartender.
Bartender said he didnt have specific ingredients for a drink... just told me "no." literally saw ingredients on the bar behind him. Drinks were good, but I shouldnt have to change my order because the bartender doesnt want to make a specific drink!
Superb staff, superb drinks!I honestly dont know why you would miss this off your list!!
Ive started getting drinks here pretty often. Good after work chill spot. The service could be better but if you just need a relaxing atmosphere to get a drink and catch up with friends this is it.
First time I went, was treated great and the cocktails were good. Second and third time the drinks were still fine, but was not treated well by staff. Sitting right at the bar(which is not that big), glass almost empty and bartender never offered or asked me about another, despite his eyes going over the (then emptyglass; wouldnt meet my eyes. Had to call for his attention, then get explained to that the "2-4-1" happy hour sign outside didnt mean two drinks when you pay for one, it meant half price drinks. He seemed exasperated that I had been expecting a second drink...okay; whatever. Choose your sign wording better? "Uhm..I mean, Ill GIVE you another drink- yknow, if thats what you were EXPECTING...I GUESS I can do that for you."Oh, save it. All that vigorous tin-shaking somehow hasnt gotten you the biceps to talk to me like that but Im still gonna tip you well cuz Im not a prick.
Great place with excellent drinks. I had a spot on Last Word and my friend had a killer martini. The vibe is fun with no wait and the bartender was very knowledgeable on a wide array of drinks. The atmosphere was fun and colorful and they played excellent 70s music, some of which I had a heard since I was a kid. This place should be packed nightly so don’t miss out. Tell your friends.
This place has a very fun vibe. The cocktail menu is pretty generic and the drinks my one time there consistently tasted a little off. Possibly just a fluke. But this place is more than just its drinks. Definitely a place to check out as upon entering I felt transported out of New York City.
Had birthday drinks here to great success. Its one of those places thats busy but not too busy. Good looking crowd and quality cocktails. Waitress was super nice.
Very nice and clean bar. A waitress will come along to your table and ask for your order and she was very friendly! The menu is cool and the drinks are named after famous songs and artists. They were also playing some really good songs that everyone seemed to enjoy. Granted, we were there at 9pm on a Friday, it is extremely loud in there. I dont have the best hearing, but it was difficult for me to have a conversation with my wife.
Found this place while waiting for a long while to get into another restaurant. Couldnt be happier to find it. Great beer selection, great cocktails, friendly service and GREAT music as soon as we walked in. Laid back atmosphere with Neil Young or Bob Dylan playing in the background.
cocktail lounges - particularly those erring on the side of the non-prohibition-speakeasy front - can be a bit pretentious. Holiday has the foreboding metal door, but thats where the shenanigans end. inside, its cozy, comfy, not too loud, and the staff prepares some of the tastiest and most creative cocktails ive had. in a neighbourhood fraught with more drinking options than most, be sure to give Holiday a try!
So they fixed this place up recently. It used to be a dive bar in the real sense of the word. Now, it is clean and nice, but definitely more expensive than it used to be. I would never clamor to go to this place, but am happy to pop by if someone else suggests it.
Very nice bar with tasty cocktails. I definitely recommend to try the DIY cocktails : the waitress brings you all the ingredients and tools to create your own cocktail (and she takes the time to explain how to do it). Very Fun and convivial
Nestled between karaoke lounges and ramen joints, is the unassuming Holiday Cocktail Lounge. The lounge has been open forever, in fact Leo Trotsky is rumored to have hung out here, but closed and reopened recently. The new space is a fairly indescribable mix of dive bar and speakeasy, the kind of place with a dozen types of handmade artisanal gin but Christmas lights as the main decor. Cocktails are excellent and the menu is big, but they’ll also make you something great based on your tastes. The fellow patrons here included a couple loudly proclaiming how much they spent on their pedigree Pomeranian-Chihuahua mix who was of course present, and a group of Boston bros hitting on some trashed locals. It might have just been bad luck, but it does seem to attract a strange mixed crowd.
Good, low key place for cocktails. The Mortally Afraid of Madams cocktail is great. With Angels Share, Death & Co and PDT around the corner, this place has a lot of competition and although the cocktails are not as creative, they make up for it with a lack of wait and enough space to accommodate larger groups. Also, boilermakers are on the menu. And if you stay there long enough, you may even be able to get some free hot snacks from the kitchen.
This is the place to go to if you want cheap drinks that pack a stiff punch. It feels like a hole in the wall sort of spot youd expect to drive up to if youre driving cross country and pull over on some silent secluded street. The fact that its in the East Village? Even better. And just love the lights. Classy classy.
