Hokuala Kauai - in Lihue, United States
Hokuala Kauai in Lihue
Description
Golf. Every hole had breath taking views. But the course is more difficult than appears by yardage. And there was a lot of brown grass. Quite expensive but glad we did get to do the new and “improved “ Kauai Lagoons.
MoreEXCELLENT! HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Beautiful
The beauty of this course surpasses many a course I have played! The outstanding views of each hole is as awesome as the island itself. Going through the valleys of forests is just beautiful! Each hole offers Kauai golf a unique view like no other. It’s plays tough, though I birdied two holes, one in the pouring rain, with water all over the green. The pictures of the ocean views on the back nine, do not do this course justice, but playing it in person adds to the Love of Kauai’s scenic and iconic coast. You must play Hokuala when ever you go there! It’s just another memory you will take with you forever!, from the city of Lihue, on the most gorgeous island in the Pacific! It has stolen my heart!
MoreGreat course
The ocean course at hokuala provides pristine Golfing conditions fresh food and stunning ocean views. the ocean course is a Jack Nicklaus signature design with the longest continuous stretch of ocean holes in all of Hawaii the friendly service you expect here is total genuine Aloha Spirit from start to finish!! love the course, love it love it!!
MoreHokuala is a must when planning your Kauai golf. Front 9 winds beautifully along the grounds with challenging holes and generous landing areas. This is a tough course which doesnt come out of the gate beating you up. Fairways and greens were in great shape, views were unparalleled...just learn to hit a 2-iron stinger for when the winds pick up on the back 9! Id comment that its a bit pricey, but its truly Hawaii golf at its finest.
MoreHad a great experience @ Hokuala. Only 4 stars until the front 9 opens up!The ocean side course was available to play and the trade winds made the course extremely challenging as youll need to either possess the knowledge of flighting a low ball or clubbing it down 2-3 clubs. I liked the layout and rewards you when you hit a good shot. The course was in good shape- fairways and bunkers in good condition and the greens rolled true but not fast. The par 3s were all beautifully positioned with water and canyon gaps protecting the green. Its the feel good type of feeling when you successfully managed to get on the green. If you can let go of playing 18 different holes, itll be rewarding to enjoy the beauty of this course as it rides alongside the bay. Cant wait for the front 9 opens up.
MoreThis course has a *LOT* of potential, but when we played it in December 2015 only 9 holes were open and the course condition was rather bad. I believe that Timber resorts has just taken ownership of the resort from Marriott; everything was very newly rebranded from Kauai Lagoons to Hokuala. Id be willing to play again once everything is open and the new management has a chance to fix it up, but right now the course doesnt live up to its potential. Would be a 2-star review given course conditions, but its redeeming factors are the extraordinary views and creative layouts of the oceanside holes. Ocean 14 is a par 3 over beautiful cliffs, and Ocean 16 is a blind tee shot down a narrow fairway dangerously sloping to the ocean. Very fun to play, and could be a 4-star course with the right care and maintenance.
