Very beautiful & not terribly busy, though enough people to make it difficult to only hear the rustling of the leaves in the wind.

Really beautiful place. There is an entrance fee for the garden (300 yenwhich is well maintained. I didn’t go for the tea set option which goes for 900 yen, it’s quite popular though.

Relaxing and not crowded. There are benches so you can enjoy the view while sitting idly.If you want to have matcha and a few cute sweets in the cafe overlooking the bamboos, be sure to buy the ticket which includes the matcha. This bamboo forest isn’t as big as the one in Kyoto but it’s well maintained.Parking is available and free of charge. In case it’s full, there’s a nearby paid parking space.

Probably my favorite in Kamakura. It’s just 20 minutes away by walk from the city’s centre (you can also take a bus from there). It isn’t so big but the zen details, calmness and the garden are worth going, so as the bamboo forest that resembles Kyoto’s Arashiyama (in a smaller way). Entrance is only ¥300 but for additional ¥600 you get a matcha tea in a small house by the forest.

This is about 15 minutes walk from Kamakura Station. At the entrance you have an option to pay the 300 yen entrance fee only or purchase a ticket with a set of green tea for 900 yen. It is cold in winter so after drinking the green tea, it would be too cold to stay in the rest area as it is an open space outside where you can enjoy the bamboo garden.

Quiet and nice place with a tea house. IF its empty, seems to be a famous photo spot, so might not be that peaceful if crowded. There are very few parking spots right in front of the entrance. There are many more parking spaces but they are all restricted and the coin parking is pricey.

Not special for me . Those who want to have a cup of green Tea 🍵 in peacefully. This must be the place. I just spend 10 minutes. To me it’s a tiny place. I thought it was a large Bamboo forest 🤷‍♂️. Ticket ¥ 300 for entering. With green Tea may be ¥900 plus.

The temple front area is free to enter, but you need to pay extra (300 yento enjoy the Bamboo area. You also need to buy advance ticket if you want to enjoy drinking inside the tea shop. (forgot the price). The location is small. therefore the walk around is short. You wont be able to enjoy long time here unless you visit the tea shop. The bamboo scenery was good enough to snap one or two pictures for your social media, tho

Definitely a serene place with picturesque views. Green tea can be enjoyed in the small tea house in the middle of all the bamboo trees. Excellent place to go to especially if youre looking for a calm and relaxed escapade away from the city.

Hokokuji Temple is a temple of Zen Buddhism, and was established in 1334. The principal image is enshrined in the main hall. After you visit here, lets go to the back side of the temple. The temple is also famous for its Moso Bamboo gardens, and is often called "The Bamboo Temple." You can fully appreciate the beauty and the power of about 2,000 bamboo trees all year around. High-rising bamboos gives here sacred atmosphere. The tea room, "Kyukoan" is at the end of the bamboo garden. You can have green tea viewing the garden, which brings you peace of mind. Take a deep breath, and have clean air. There is a dry landscape garden at this temple, too.

Perhaps the most famous temple with a bamboo forest in Kamakura. Entry is ¥300, or ¥900 which comes with a matcha tea set. (The latter is highly recommended!Don’t forget to get your goshuin (temple sealat the window adjacent to where tickets are sold.

Very nice, well maintained garden. If you want to see the bamboo grove you’ll have to pay ¥300, but it’s worth it. It’s well manicured and very peaceful. If you wanna go all out you can pay an extra ¥600 for tea in the grove.

This temple is famous for the bamboo garden. But personally I enjoy both the Japanese garden from the entrance, including the structural of the temple. From Kamakura Station, can take local bus to reach this temple. I forget what is the bus number. But no worry, let Google Map do the job for you.

There are many nice places in Kamakura, but this is one of the best. Quiet, out of the way, and incredibly beautiful. Far fewer tourists than most sites, and the bamboo grove and carefully maintained gardens make it worth a visit. Take a bus if you can, it’s a long walk. There are restrooms for men and women just past the entrance to the temple.

A small place, kinda hidden away, even my friend who lives there didn’t knew about it. Therefore it is bit quiet and less crowded. If anyone didn’t get the chance to be in a bamboo forest, this place is the closest you can get this experience. In addition, the garden there is quite relaxing and beautiful. I totally recommend to go and check. The only problem it is bit small in size.

So this has the traditional Japanese gardens which is pretty cool to see. They also offer a traditional tea ceremony that you can attend for a fee. Its small so doesnt take to long to explore around.

Had read about the bamboo forest and caves and tea ceremony, but felt a bit disappointed with the visit, after a reasonable hike up from the town. It cost 300yen to get in and the bamboo forest was not very big. To participate in the tea ceremony was another 600 yen. We only saw a couple of caves. Meticulous grounds, but we saw everything in a short period of time. Hard to justify the entrance fee, but pleased we viewed anyway.

The overall Bamboo forrest area was quite small, you have to try to dodge other guests while walking on a narrow stone path. The place was quiet and enjoyable, I would recommend coming if you have some extra time.

Hokokuji tempel in Kamakura has a small closed off bamboo forest/garden. There is an entrance fee but it is not too high. The garden feels very relaxing and tranquil. Hokokuji is, from my experience, less crowded than Kamakuras other big sightseeing spots like the Great Buddha, Hase temple or the Komachi street. These are all worth a visit but Hokokuji can be a nice alternative.

So beautiful! Went on a rainy day and it was still serene and gorgeous. A small bamboo forest and temple, but every detail was pretty and peaceful.I recommend the tea house. Sipping warm matcha while gazing out into the bamboo is soul-soothing. Eat the candy before drinking the matcha! (Theres a right order!)

Must see temple, its the most beautiful temple I have ever visited. The whole forest, despite being comparatively small in area, just exudes serenity and you can just feel something in the air...The tea ceremony is 400 yen extra, but well worth it, the seating is with a fantastic view of a little waterfall and is very impressive!

You can feel the Japanese mentality!!There is a Japanese traditional garden in this shrine and Its famous for a bamboo garden as Arashiyama in Kyoto. In that day, so many foreign tourist are there, but nobady is in the tea house, even Its 600 yen extra payment...Its really sad things...The bamboo forest isnt for photo and SNS, its for healing and makeing us enjoy the time to see our own mind.if you are in Japan, why dont you come here?Attention: they dont rent a kimono.

SURREAL AND ENERGETIC LOCATIONWhen you see the entrance to main temple you immediately appreciate the level of zen you are about to enter with perfectly crafted gates guarding the entrance to a wonderful mystic green garden before meeting the simple but small bamboo woodland.Obviously you have to pay to enter like nearly everywhere in Japan but the small payment for maintaining such beauty is well worth the yen. As you enter the main area after paying you immediately face a bamboo forest that overwhelms the senses and makes you immediately want to take selfies. The area is really beautiful and peaceful with few tourists and time to contemplate on the zen modelled greenery before your eyes. The temple is pretty unique too with its own personality and posture within this natural beauty. The bamboo area is pretty small around 100 square metres but thats all that is needed to impress the senses and enjoy time out from your travels. With an added bonus of drinking some green tea matcha whilst observing the bamboo woodland and a running water feature at the same time.Unfortunately we thought we were going to be involved in a green tea ceremony as stated at the entrance however when we got to the green tea area we were met by a long queue of people waiting to sit down on a bench in front of the bamboo forest. Waiting in line to get a number then sitting and waiting again to get your green tea.Dont get me wrong but the green tea was really nice and sitting in front of the bamboo area but the way everything was carried out was a little misleading as we were expecting a tea ceremony as stated. However we enjoyed every moment but still have it a 4/5.RecommendationsEnjoy a lovely part of the area walking through the beautiful scenic woodland and see the tombs and caves.#garystribe #letsguide #localguides #japantravel #japan #travelideas #fujikawa

Wonderful place of Kamakura bamboo garden, its full of tall and strong bamboos, when winds pass, you can listen the natural sound of bamboo leaves dancing. Its a peace and calm place. Enjoying the sen environment and having a handmade powering green tea would be wonderful.

I liked Hokokuji but not as much as I thought I would. I feel the bamboo grove is worth seeing (for certainbut I think if it were not in Kamakura it would be far less famous. Air was fresh and though it was busy it felt secluded enough to enjoy myself. Was hoping it would be slightly larger than it was but it is a nice walk and the grounds are well maintained.

The bamboo garden was beautiful and cozy, but too small to be called a forest. Easily reached by bus from Kamakura station. The entrance fees of 200 Yen or 500 Yen (+tea housewere fair enough to enjoy the Japanese atmosphere and scenery. Its better to come earlier than 11am during holiday season for the better experience.

I really enjoyed this typical Japanese place. Its quiet, clean and there is also a small bamboo forest inside. Also it is possible to get the typical Japanese tea. If you are near Kamakura station, I recommend getting here by bus, because if you walk it takes about 35 minutes and also the street is quite narrow so you always have to watch out for car coming.
