Exhibits, tours & events focusing on the history & people of the "Mile Square City."
This is a terrific museum dedicated to Hoboken: not too big, great collections and website, knowledgeable and friendly staff, wonderful lecture series, films, oral history projects, and childrens programming.
Great little museum about Hoboken, loved the old photos which put the history in to context.
Sundays in Hoboken...What an amazing opportunity for all small businesses to come together supporting each other and our community! This venue setting provides our neighborhood the chance to meet and shop from such unique, one of a kind vendors and conveniently all under one roof!! Thank you immensely to Bob of the Hoboken Historical Museum as he welcomes everyone with open arms!!! A huge shout out and recognition to Wendy, Estela and Ayana...your smiles for miles and overflowing hearts of love, support and understanding, I am truly and forever grateful for everything and thank you for being simply you!!! Sincerely and with warmest regards, Mary P
the first museum I visited in the USA.The environment is great and all staffs are friendly and warm.I learnt lots of history about the Avenue and Hoboken. I am not good at name memory, but I really would love to say thanks to Barb, Victoria and Ritz, they made me a good afternoon.I also got a walk map from the museum and I do hope that I can walk around Hoboken a deep trip. The music and photography are excellent too. If you are new here, it’s a great place to connect you more with your future home.
Awesome placeWe sell chilli hot dogs in front Museum "Hot Dogs on Hudson"
Came here for a pop street fair. Very cute museum. Local art, hoboken history.
A wonderful, entertaining and informative space. We have returnedfor new exhibitions, always worthwhile!
Flashbacks of my childhood
Fun, informative museum about the history of Hoboken. There are some exceptional Sinatra documentaries and they are currently featuring circus artwork by a local artist. The curators are clearly passionate about what they do and eager to answer any of the patron’s questions. Conveniently located next to an excellent grocery store and Pier 13, you could easily make an afternoon out of visiting this area.
Stopping by made my visit to the square mile city even more special and I got to learn a bit about the place. Saw a very interesting exhibit on the second floor about by an old circus performer as well. Nice and welcoming staff. I do recommend.
A gem!Thoughtfully curated history of Hoboken, with excellent and interesting temporary exhibits as well. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful.Ill be returning soon!
Great local museum enjoyed the Frank Sinatra corner & the shopping 🛒
Absolutely adorable with great events. If you want to learn more about Hoboken, this is the place to go to.
Great history and a neat small museum
Very welcoming place and great place to learn about the history of this beautiful town and be part of the warm community of Hoboken.
Out of all cities in the country, Hoboken has one of the most interesting histories, so its well worth your time to visit. Theres a little too much Frank, but thats OK, its all good. Donations are welcome and membership is available.
Had the pleasure of visiting this gem of a place today. Very nice and full of history. What I liked the most was meeting the nice gentleman who greeted us and showed us around. You made our visit even better.
Very quaint and intimate... went to support a friends photo exhibit. Got to see some additional photos of historical building in hudson county. Staff was very nice and made it a point to ensure that capacity limits were kept.
I grew up in Hoboken and have memories of coming here :)
Very pleasant staff. Bill is super friendly.
We really enjoyed Frank Sinatras music played through a vinyl recorder made more than 100 years ago.
The Hoboken Museum is a place that takes you back to a tangible time. The plethora of postcards adorning the walls, the Frank Sinatra shrine set up like a cozy livingroom. And speaking of cozy, the staff makes you feel right at home. Well worth the $5 admission fee. If you can, buy a book from their shop, or drop a little extra $ in their box. Its important to sustain the keepers of Hobokens history. Book your trip today and start spreading da news. ;-)
Great little place to learn about Hoboken and Hudson county history.
Great experience, knowledgeable people, lots to discover..
It is a tiny little place with a lot of cool old photos and postcards. The real value, however, is the free online database they maintain of cool history related to Hoboken.Hoboken has changed rapidly over the past few decades and its important that we preserve the rich history. The place offers so more than just luxury buildings, acai bowls, and "pop-up parks". It was an industrial city that has been gentrified and this museum gives us a small look at Hobokens past.
Small museum with a nice community feel, I came here for a Holiday craft sale event. Lots of interesting information about the history of Hoboken.
Hoboken has so much history for such a small town, its great to have a organization that preserves it. A cool little museum with rotating exhibits on different aspects of the citys past. They also have a small gift shop to get you Hoboken related swag....
Charismatic museum with sure interesting features. I was there for a workshop, they have a nice screen and viewing set up. Postcard exhibit had crazy embedded images within images - I love that tech. They keep a bowl outside with fresh water for sure friends passing by. And theyre near Pier 13. parking is a real challenge tho.
Very small museum. Interesting if you want to know when the cities in New Jersey were founded and what they looked like. The main thing they show is postcards from the early 20th century. I wish there was some info on Frank Sinatra and how hes related to Hoboken. Entrys $5 (cash only), so its up to you to decide if its worth it for you. You probably will spend 10-20 min there, no more.
I love this place. From Frank Sinatra to WW2 Homage to fun art. Heres your place for everything Hoboken!
Very well kept & educational place
Nice place to know the history of Hoboken.
Great timelapse of the city of Hoboken. Plus a music section dedicated to Frank Sinatra
One room small place could be hardly called a museum, just a hole in the wall. 90% is Sinatra story poorly told.
A very cozy, cute, and informative place!
Small but always excellent.
Very nice local museum :)
Great little museum. I wish it was bigger.
Nice, little quaint museum
They set the standard for a small town museum. The downstairs space features in-depth exhibitions of local interest, such as Frank Sinatra or the centennial of World War I. Lecture series from experts accompany these exhibits. The upstairs space is a gallery, highlighting the best local artists in a variety of media. The museum also runs community and family events.
Wonderful, carefully curated exhibits and collections.
Small gem of a museum. Nice gift shop. Visited the Sinatra exhibit and was not disappointed. Park at the nearby parking garage.
Small museum, in this place have a lot of information about Frank Sinatra.
They had a Frank Sinatra display it was fantastic
Youll be surprised by this little gem. Expands to the top floor - must visit for hoboken fans
Well done! History of Hoboken is well presented and as a member of the Historical Society we have received "Chapbooks" which tell the story of Hoboken residents and how they came to live in the city. Very important to keep these stories alive!I have purchased two old-time photos from the museum that capture the city perfectly! Support this museum becuase it would be a shame if the stories of the city cant continue to be told!
They organize nice events like the garden and house tours
I have walked or driven by here thousands of times. Finally stopped in with some friends. Well worth it even for old Hobokeners like me. Well presented, clear exhibits for this small, devoted museum. Go!
Its a unique museum. Thats interesting because its a rotating exhibits that concentrate on the various aspects of Hoboken history form the foundation of the Hoboken Historical Museum. Also I could saw some popular displays include the citys contribution to American music, the history of the Hudson River, and art galleries for local artists.*****
My first visit to the Hoboken Historical Museum was as a photographer hired to shoot the Google Virtual Tour for their location. In the process we also had the pleasure of meeting the staff and viewing the exhibit. It is an interesting place, well laid out, and has some great items on display on each level. We recommend it highly for anyone visiting Hoboken!
