Ho Chi Minh City's Book Street - Tourist attraction in Tan An, Vietnam
Quaint little street with different types of book stores and book cafés to choose from.
Interesting corner for books, coffee and small activities for kids.
Little book alley that have a super wide range of books . BUT english isnt the forte here much discount on old books but in viet.If you are an old soul who loves the smell of paper and touch plus you can read Vietnamese then yeah definitely for you. There are also pottery painting here so theres something for the kids.Bus stop with free book to read like a mini inspirational shelter for those bookworms thirsty for words like literature.Over all a super chill place.
Quaint pretty place to visit but a utter waste of time for international tourists. Not worth a ride over as it is a very short street, takes you less than 2 mins to walk up and down the street. Most bookshops only carry Vietnamese translated books, very dull artworks and knick-knacks. I only managed to find one shop offering a limited quantity of secondhand English books. Even the only F&B outlet there (a book cafe with lesser books than I have at homeis dull AF.
A great stop for the tourists, there are lots of book shops with so many creative ideas and seating spaces. You may also find a couple of good coffee shops. Only issue is most of the literature is in Vietnamese language and limited English offerings are available. Nevertheless, it is a must visit stop just for the sheer beauty of the street.
Nice place to enjoy a reading environment with great people around.
Lovely spot if youre looking for shade, book browsing and a cold drink. The location right behind the Saigon Central Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral make Book Street an easy addition to your tourist trail.
Alot of book to read and buy, nice place to hangout and check in..
Very good garage, helpful with fixing all of my bike problems and speak some English thanks Khoa, very professional and honest
A busy street, nice way to watch people go by. Only one or two places where one could buy English books. A pity that there werent any translations of Vietnamese works.
its a great place to visit.... the whole street is block off ....alot of book for sale, but not the kind for school ... (for that you have to go to book storemost of them are for entertainment, and childrens book.
Super cute street for all things books. There are many bookstores selling both English and Vietnamese books, and a few cafes for you to get something to drink while reading or walking around. You can probably spend about 30-40 minutes there. Nice area to walk through as you go to the post office
Mostly old books. And majority are Vietnamese
Its a nice and quiet corner in the middle of a busy city, where you can escape and enjoy a short stroll around and look for your next good read.
Nice little street with some cute shops. A few of them sell English titles, but I only saw one where the books were new. The others seem to sell second hand books left over by tourists (judging by the amount of thrillers, romance and best-sellers). A good place if youve run out of holiday reading material.A couple of cafes, as well, and shops selling stickers, cute stationary items etc. A nice place to spend an hour max.
Really cute street with a cozy atmosphere. Book cafes are definitely worth checking out. Sadly most books are in Vietnamese, however there are some English ones too. We went there at night and it wasn‘t really crowded, however it wasn‘t completely empty either. I‘d say it‘s one of the nicest places in Ho Chi Minh.
Quiet yet busy. Stop by one of the cafes, buy or bring a book to read. Books in English are also available and there are several rare book dealers too. There are also childrens books that are sorted by grade level. It is next to the central post office, which is also a tourist destination. This is also a popular area at night.
This is the best place to buy Vietnamese souvenirs. It will be a good memory of your trip to Vietnam, such as Vietnamese old books and childrens books.
Street with many book storesRegrettably books are mostly in VietnameseStreet can be finished quickly in 0.5 hours
Many book shop has discounted book option. I was looking for some books written in English and unfortunately most of shop doesnt have foreign language books. But I luckily found this lovely vietnamese food book written in English and vietnamese. Price was about 120,000? After discount. Staff was helpful!
An iconic walking street with book vendors and cafes. A very relaxing and scenic walk. No pushy salespeople which was nice!
Pretty nice street.Great for book lovers.A local told me that the place has the book prices standardised and "audited"meaning to say that the books sold here are authentic in quality and prices are therefore fixed (international price). The street is not too long or big, but has about 90-95% bookstores selling just books alone. However, each bookstore design is not too bad. There are very few cafes but are book-oriented in their design (for people to read inside).Maybe not worth an intentional travel but if you are on the way nearby, you can roam around here for a few minutes
Very central location as its across from the Post Office and Cathedral. Being a pedestrian only street makes it a pleasant walk through the book shops and coffee cafes.I got two Japanese media books for a little under 8 dollars. A relaxing break from the bustling streets if Saigon.
A cute street when you fancy a nice walk!
Pretty cool place not to crowded on Saturday 6pm., they have a lot of book here and at the front they have Bò BíA Ngot selling (idk what is that but once we tried it pretty similar with cotton candy, but it’s good.
Not a very long street, but its an interesting concept where both sides of the street are lined with bookshops and book cafes. You can find English books as well as books in Vietnamese too but dont expect to be able to find every book you want though. If you would like to hang around to read, you may visit the book cafes to read and have a cuppa at the same time. It is really pretty quiet in the day time, great ambience for some ME reading time.
Right next to the post office, they mostly sell Vietnam books but there are few cafes there to sit and relax. There is a toilet (not freebehind the bus(book store)
Very energetic & artistic Street of Ho Chi Minh City... Mainly Vietnamese Books and you also get a chance to see some authors publishing their books here.... Love from India
Good place to walk after lunchMany bookshops are there.Good photo zone
I was told this is the place to get the latest Vietnamese translated books. Where many big publishers have their stall setups. There are a few cozy coffee bars. The street is well covered in tree foliage so it doesnt get really hot even in the afternoon. There is a small stage where there will be an event held from time to time, but it will be slightly congested because the place is quite narrow.
very cute small book street with a section for a stage. one cafe. maybe one small place for english books. a cute little gem for book lovers.
My favorite place in Saigon. Love it fresh air, not too much people in the morning and afternoon.Book are display by store, not so easy to search for a book you need, so you have to ask the staffs of the store.Visit at weekday is better because the weekend usually crowded. This place have playground for kids.
Very cute place and surprisingly peaceful. A good way to spend an hour reading a book with a drink. There are even some things for the kids to do.As a foreigner, my obvious comment is there there are only a couple of shops that stock English books, but what I did find was quite suited to my taste so that was a small bonus.
My son and I love this place that we visit it whenever possible. There are a few small cafes and plenty of reading areas for you to just sit down and get yourself lost in a book. There is a few shops that offers English books and one that sells second hand books and a play area to keep the kids busy.Definitely a good place to visit.
Nice place to chill and enjoy reading a book with a cup of tea/coffee. Good place to take a pictures.
It was a good place to enjoy the atmosphere here, but everything has changed after the COVID …And the saddest update was the close of McDonald’s ….
There Are A Lot Of Books In This Street. Souvenirs Are Great. They Have Unique Tea Store , And Book Bus. The Street Is A Long Way. Books Stores offer Various Books , Comics, Arts, Music Books, Etc. They Even Have Cafes To Read Books
We visited the book Street just after the war museum. It was beautiful lovely little alley with lots of bookstores great if you like art or you like to sketch are you looking for some knickknacks there’s lots of children’s books and toys shops.
Good for an afternoon stroll and a drink at the open air cafés on this street. There’s not much shopping for foreigners here since most books are in Vietnamese. You’ll find the occasional English titles and some other arts and crafts on sale (greeting cards, notebooks and home decor stuffbut not much else.Cafés here have strong wifi so perfect if you need to get some work done. And since the street is for pedestrians only, you get the open air café / people-watching experience without the traffic noise and fumes.
I absolutely LOVED this road. It is all about books. Loved the statues. The cute shops. And once again it was just nice too see literature that I knew in another language.
i like this atmosphere : book stores and coffee shop around, really quite and polite to meet friend, search your favourite books. Some books events held here. Good environment with a big playgrounds for children.
Its a nice place for those who really enjoy surrounded by books. The place is really cosy. You just feel like reading a book and sipping a cup of Joe which can be done since several coffee places are located within the street. It has a place for kids to enjoy their books and play. I dont mind spending my whole day in this street. *disclaimer: Im a geek...
Cute little street, brings you to the cathedral and post office. Books, souvenirs, sometimes have interesting photo exhibitions. There are also few coffee shops and Mac Donalds.
Rất đẹp, mát mẻ, và đầy đủ các loại sách cho mọi lứa tuổi cũng như du khách.Modern civilized HCM City book road, a beautiful and cool road, suitable for walking. Large space, many book stores with full of books suitable for all ages as well as foreign tourists. Many events are held regularly. The book street has become a cultural feature of the city.
Great place to visit. Book shops, coffee shops and a very interesting exhibition on Viet Nam war with historical witnesses, photos , etc. All this under wonderful trees and shade. Next to the cathedrale, the central post and bank and many nice shops with ceramics and others. Worth a stroll !!
One small street with a lot of charm and a whole lot of cuteness. If you are in the area, it’s worth a visit and walking distance to other attractions.Definitely a treat to see since this street is the most unique in the city :)
Cute place in town with nice design and atmosphere. People come here not for books only but for posing a beautiful pictures or checking in. The cafe has nice coconut for drinking. Wide range of books and souvernirs. I love some displays here such as "sunny days" with hundreds of red and transperancy umbrellas hanging high above, or the exhibition for Vietnamese Teachers Day or "320 years of Saigon"...
This is a walk only small street , located on the right of the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon and the Post Office, no vehicle entrance. You can buy books, have a cup of coffee or milksake, enjoy such a quiet place. Alot of Vietnamese books and publishers of Vietnam. But there are less English or Other language book.
A bookstore road, its good for walking and looking some thing. I just guide someone come to visit - not for buy any book. They came to take photos or to knowledge about bookstore road.
This street is so unique! I loved this place! Its a whole street a little bookhuts and book cafes. Though most shops only sold books written it vietnamese the place had a lovely serenity to it. You could bring your own book and just chill in one of the book cafes with a cuppa. Especially pretty at night where its windy and dusk. I was there in december and the christmas lights made the street look extra pretty! Very quiet and chill place, no loud sounds that may interfere with the narrative of your book!
