Nice weekend stop. They do a great job sharing the history of Miami. They have a great breadth of history. They designed it to be assessable for all ages and even have kids puzzles and books to fill out. The only knock is there is a lot of race bating and pandering and only from one point of view. But you can easily skip that if it doesn’t interest you.

I went on a day that admission was free, typically under $10.00 for one adult. The place is under renovation but the small exhibit was pleasant.

It’s fun, interactive and very informative. For Miami patterns is actually really nice. Most pieces of the museums were donation, which made the “history” more interesting.Kids loved it.Saturdays are free.@grazicall

Went there for a free event intended for kids. Not sure if we saw the whole thing. The stuff we did see was interesting but more geared for adults which was fine. You can park at the connected garage and get it validated so you only pay $5 for your whole stay.

Actually two museums, North Bldg. has the History of South Florida, South Bldg. has more local items. Lots of hands on displays and informative stories. Not too expensive & a pleasant, interesting way to spend an hour or two

Not the largest museum, you can get through it in under 2 hours however the displays and staff are great. They have a family museum day once a month with free entrance. If youre looking for a fun family activity or a nice thing to do in Miami for little to no money its a great place to visit and learn about our city. I took my grandparents and it was a touching experience having them witness the reminders of the architecture and experiences they grew up with.

If youre in Miami and interested in the history of the region and the city this is a great starting point. It wasnt as comprehensive of the post 1950s as I would haveiked, but it was still full of lots of cool memorabilia and factoids.

This is one of Miams gems and I hope more people discover it. A very informative, interesting and dynamic experience after which you will most definitely have a different perspective of this beautiful city. All Miamians should most definitely come!

A nice museum which takes you through the sequence of events that built Miami as a city. Nice to see a different perspective on this legendary city. You can spend a good 1.5 hours here across the two buildings. While the chronological exhibits were great, I must say that I was blown away by the Photo Walk on the 2nd Floor of the second building. The photographer has so brilliantly captured some of the pictures that you will definitely be mesmerized by the quality of the images and their perspective.Overall, a great place to spend a few hours and then go grab lunch!

The History Miami Museum was a nice surprise. It is definitely not one of the most celebrated museums in Miami, but it turned out to be very interesting. The best part is in the second building, north of the main ones; we spent almost 2 hours there and you can learn a lot about the history of Miami.I definitely recommend a visit but take your time in the 2nd bldg. to read what you are looking at.

Miami is known worldwide as a “fiesta city”; but although it doesn’t have a lot of museums like other big cities, if you are interested in culture, you can find some good venues/events here as well. One of them if the History Miami Museum, located Downtown, in an area frequented by a lot of people not as fortunate as we all are, but frankly I never had a problem walking there (at least during the day).We found this little gem thanks to a Groupon offer, and went to Miami last month for a day trip just to see the museum.Unfortunately we found it closed, and there was no sign at all at the entrance, nothing indicated on their website, no special message on their answering machine… It was a passer-by that reminded us it was Veteran’s Day: our fault for not having thought of that, but I’m still rating the museum 4 stars instead of 5 because of their lack of proper communication (potential international visitors won’t know that city’s offices are closed for Veteran’s Day).So we took another day trip to Miami this month to go and see the museum. The museum consists in 2 buildings of 2 floors, and you start your visit in the building displaying items belonging to the most recent history of Miami. I understand that in this section they also have special exhibits, but unfortunately there was none not when we visited.I found the second building much more interesting: it goes from the old times and also has more items. The place is small, but I think we stayed in the second building for almost a couple of hours: I loved it! It’s very informative, shows lots of very old pictures, a video, and makes you want to further study Miami’s history.I really enjoyed my visit!

History Miami Museum was celebrating their 50th anniversary. It was a culture festival downtown Miami. A stage w/live band, a vegan area, vendors. Of course free museum day, I loved it, fun!

Was really excited to go, looks interesting. Unfortunately some of the staff working there seem to have nothing better to do with their time but walk around ordering ticket purchasers to cover their faces. No other visitors, only paracitical nuisances intent on bothering and making life as unpleasant as possible for those visiting and funding the upkeep of the museum and their employer.Very disappointing. Was unable to see much of the museum beyond the entrance.

Fun day today at the Miami History Museum. Especially since today was free entry for everyone. This place had a lot to see. More than I expected. If you are in the downtown area. Make some time to check it out. An hour to two max to see all the displays they have. Lots of interesting facts and history of the Miami area. Also if you are new to this area. Look for the Metro mover around the North side of the Museum to get a free ride around the City.

Excellent experience. Came here for a quick visit. A small museum that does a good job capturing the history and culture of Miami. I like the bright colors in their displays. They keep the information simple and to the point. My recommendation is they need a gift shop.

Nice place to visit for a 2 hours quick overview about the history of Miami from 10,000 years ago 😱 I went when it was free. I think its quite a new museum and pretty small, but what they have is all well made and presented. Good educational trip.

A cultural oculus centered in Downtown shining light on the diverse history and colorful character of Miami. The History Miami Museum is an immersive experience diving deep into the treasures of the past. Moments in time on display encompassing the space of two buildings and intrinsically located next to the library for further cerebral enhancement. Explore freely and absorb the magic of Miami!

A great museum with a look at Miami and Florida history. Galleries are all well curated with friendly and available staff.I was most impressed with the History Museum’s effort to ensure all voices and stories are told. There are signs throughout explaining the museum’s policy for reviewing content for inclusivity. There are then additional 8X10 sheets with updated info. This is a great way to tell the complete story of Miami and Florida history. The south section of the museum has a small gallery about the proclamation in Miami recognizing LGBTQIA+ Pride month and related art. Another great step toward representing more communities.

Super Bowl volunteer events. The Miami History museum is a must see. It depicts miami in its infancy to modern day world class city. I also got a chance to see the NFL exhibit from Joe Montana jersey to Jerry Rice and a host of others. To cap it all off. The interactive kicking and throwing exhibits. I had a great time.

Not a lot to see, exhibitions are only of turn of the century Miami not very well maintained. Is a shame because Miami has a lot of history to share. With such a big building I found a lot of wasted space. They opened it and left as is.

There are lovely people here and details here about the city of Miami I found very useful. Its good to get a strong understanding of Miami, before you get to deep into the visit. Its a very interesting city.In this museum, youll find more information about Miamis past and present. You feel discouraged by the news of all the colonial warfare, uplifted by the revolutions and timeless sites of the city, and creative about how all of these projects and ideas could be intertwined and evolved to form other more peaceful societies as we progress globally and culturally. There are timeless pieces here, and pieces you wish you didnt know of. Im confident the ideas in this building will make you think and start afresh about your career and sentiments towards different politics and life in general. Miami is a very globalized city with very locally specific cultures, roots, and ideas.

The HistoryMiami Museum is something not to miss if you want to know how South Florida came to be. The North building is a treat with history dating back to the native Tequesta Indians thru the land development of Coral Gables up to Hurricane Andrew and it’s devastation. The downstairs at the time I visited had a great photo display of the Jewish community living on South Beach during the time of the 1970’s, 1980’s and early 1990’s. The South building on the first floor was setup to show items from the mix of cultures here in South Florida. Not all items were of historic relevance, but they we’re culturally significant. There is a parking garage which was only $5 for those visiting the museum.

a very fascinating and educational experience. The HistoryMiami Museum is a wonderful, informative, and educational experience that people of all ages can really enjoy. Im a child at heart, so the hurricane Andrew exhibit really captured me. The hurricane simulation room is a rather exciting and educational addition to the museum, and the knowledge of the scale of destruction caused by this storm will leave you speechless. Along with this, there are many other works of fine art and displays that will engage your mind and fuel your imagination.

Very helpful staff, both on the phone and at main desk.Parking IS difficult in area for a large truck with handicap chair hoist on rear. Despite parking being validated by museum we got charged full amount. The Hurricane Andrew exhibit is very good and a great reminder for citizens in hurricane-prone areas to pay close attention!I loved the People Of Miami photographic exhibit too, and the artifacts from native peoples of The Americas. The history of Florida settlement was a bit hard to follow, it seems to jump from ancient native settlements to the Spanish Armada arrival to the Henry Flagler Era, to Cuban Migration...the timeline just seemed haphazard to us.All said and done it is a beautiful facility and we had a nice time.
