Everything was perfection! A gorgeous house, fabulous food and a gracious hostess made for a relaxing weekend and the perfect respite.
What a beautiful home and such a gracious host! We booked the entire home for a wedding. Olena was so kind and very helpful. She gave the bride and groom a sweet bouquet of flowers at breakfast, it was such sweet gesture. By the way the breakfasts were amazing, you wont leave hungry! I highly recommend this B & B!
We had a wonderful stay here! We drove down from Minneapolis for a weekend getaway, and everything was lovely. The owner was so accommodating and sweet, and the breakfast (with vegetables from her own gardenwas outstanding! You can tell so much love and care goes into this place, too. It’s a real gem. Thank you for the fantastic time!
Stayed here one night with my husband on our honeymoon, on our way up to the North Shore. We really enjoyed our stay -- the room was lovely, spacious, and quiet, and breakfast was exquisite. Highly recommend, and I hope we will be back!
Beautiful accommodations. Delicious breakfasts. Tami and Doug are great. Loved Louie, the resident French Bull Dog. This is our favorite choice when visiting family in Faribault.
I had an opportunity to stay last week at the Historic Hutchinson House B&B, and what a wonderful and pleasant experience it was. The home is absolutely beautiful with incredible woodwork and is very tastefully decorated. Hosts Tami & Doug Schluter and their pup Louie greeted me upon my arrival and instantly made me feel at home. They are very gracious hosts and welcomed me with open arms and briefly covered everything I needed to know and make for a very pleasant stay. I stayed in the Johnsons Pride room which was very spacious, nicely decorated, and with all the necessary comforts. Tami prepared a delicious wild rice quiche, granola and fruit parfait, and fresh squeezed orange juice for breakfast served in the dining room with the other guests. Very pleasant experience. I would highly recommend staying with Tami and Doug at the Historic Hutchinson House B&B if you are ever in the area, and I plan to stay again next year as I travel to Minnesota lake country for vacation.
Beautiful house and wonderfully decorated, enjoyed very much, Highly recommend!
They were pretty cool for letting me stand outside and take their gym.
This was my second stay. The accommodations and hospitality are first rate. Tami is creative in the kitchen and the food was delicious. The morning I left , Sunday 2/24, I was concerned I would miss my flight with the driveway obstructed by the street plowing. When Tami learned it would take some time to have the driveway plowed by her person she fired up her snow blower and got me out with time to spare. That is what I call service! Dont waste time surfing for another place for your visit. All you need to know is Hutchinson House.
We like to get away and try out new B&Bs whenever we can. The Hutchinson house was full of charm, provided an absolutely delicious breakfast, and had the greatest house doggie ever! Of all the places weve visited, Tami has by far been my favorite host. She provided us with lots of stories, local info, things to do, and was so wonderful to visit with. Even in the dead of Minnesota winter, we had plenty to keep us busy. We wish you and Louie the very best and will definitely put you on our list of places to visit again!!
Beautiful home, very relaxing time. Would definitely recommend it to my friends.
Staying at the historic Hutchinson House was a wonderful experience. My boyfriend and I love old architecture and this place was full of historic touches. Beautiful. Tami and Doug were amazing. Both were a wealth of knowledge about the home, area, and things to do. Tami called the Woolin Mill and informed them we would be there for the tour. The Mill crew knew us by name which was cool and head tilting at the same time. Breakfast was delicious. I believe I have expanded my breakfast belly by at least double, but it was worth it. Thank you all for making the best first B&B impression for me. We will be back 🙂
My husband and I stayed this fall and it is such a neat house! The character and detail in old homes is unmatched in today’s construction. We had a nice afternoon in town, visiting the woolen mill and the distillery. The house is near downtown and in walking distance to the restaurants.
Beautiful home, lovingly cared for. We truly enjoyed this quiet getaway in historic Faribault. Tami and Doug are welcoming, gracious and full of information about the whole area. Many places of interest within a short drive. We would recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a change of pace.
A great place to stay if you come to Faribault. Full of history and kindness!
Was a good experience. Very close to Central Fairbault. They greeted us on arrival and showed us around the house. Bedroom was nice. Breakfast was fantastic in the morning.
Great place to stay. We were in town for a wedding reception on Central. It was great being able to walk from the house but not having the lights and traffic noise of a busier street. Breakfast was a lovely 3 courses. Very relaxing vibe, warm hosts.
Beautiful home in the heart of Faribault. Tammy was extremely accommodating and wonderful! We stayed the weekend of April 13-15th 2018 which was during the blizzard but still had a great time and she made us feel right at home.
Just had a fabulous weekend at the Hutch House. The charm, comfort and hospitality is the best. Little dog Louie puts the frosting on the cake, with those big brown eyes. Great place to hang with old friends.
Tami and Doug are wonderful hosts. Charming landmark home, tastefully decorated to match the home. Tami makes a wonderful variety of delicious breakfasts. Couldnt not have been more welcoming or friendly. Highly recommend this gem.
Host and hostess were wonderful. Engaged with the guests. Lovely breakfasts and impeccable rooms and common space. So happy we found this B & B!!
I stayed at the Hutchinson and my room was very nice and accommodating! Tami and Doug were fantastic hosts - they have a beautiful property and were all too kind to share it and make my time comfortable and enjoyable. And of course, I loved meeting their cute pup - Louie! Ill definitely be staying again!
Beautiful old home, well preserved, and very clean. Breakfast was delicious and the coffee was great, both served with lots of love. Hosts were very engaging and encouraged conversation with the other guests. Felt like staying at Moms house in all the best ways.
Great hosts and very clean B&B. Will stay there again in the future
We had a wonderful night at the Historic Hutchinson House with Painting, wine, and cheese pairings. Tami and Doug are great hosts. Tami makes a gourmet breakfast in the morning, not to be missed. Will definitely stay there again in the future.
I recommend this place to anyone traveling through Fairbault. I went over the winter and it was beautiful. The decorations are cute and the dog is adorable! Very warm feeling place. We felt very invited from the moment we stepped in the door. Dont skip breakfast either... It was delicious!
A fabulous experience! Our family stayed at the historic Hutchinson House B&B for a family event in a nearby town. We had a wonderful stay. The rooms were cozy and charming. The home was very clean and inviting. Tami and Doug were exceptional hosts and they served a really scrumptious home cooked breakfast each morning. Cant say enough about it. Just go and have a wonderful time.
Had a great stay at the Hutchinson House. The house is a fabulous Victorian in Faribault, close to downtown and all the attractions in the city. Rooms are well appointed with everything you need without compromising the historical context of the home. Tammie is a great house and breakfast each day is fantastic. Would highly recommend if your are traveling to Faribault for business or pleasure. You wont be disappointed.
Beautiful home...with friendly, welcoming Inn keepers! Such a relaxing and enjoyable stay with great food, amenities and conversation. We felt like family as soon as we crossed the threshold. Thank you Tami, Doug and Louie for hosting our quiet getaway. We will be back!
Tami and Doug (and Louis!were great hosts, and the place was clean and really well set up. Everything we needed to have a great start to our Honeymoon! Very close walking distance to plenty of restaurants and shops. Just a bummer most things were closed on Sunday.
Lovely restored late 1800s mansion. Large, comfortable rooms. Hosts Tami & Doug are very gracious, excellent chefs and very entertaining.
Lovely weekend at a charming Victorian home with outstanding hosts and their companion French bulldog, Louie. The well furnished home provides ample opportunity to relax in style and entertain others while the bounteous breakfasts will keep you nourished for more than half the day. Come to southern Minnesota and experience the ultimate in Minnesota nice!
We stayed at the Historic Hutchinson House in September. We were looking for something close to the Twin Cities that had biking/hiking nearby. We would highly recommend staying at the Hutchinson. Tami, Doug, and Louie (their French Bulldogwere great hosts. We enjoyed the historic stories over delicious breakfast, the room, and meeting some of their friends and neighbors.Consider Faribault. It has plenty to do, less crowds than up North, and you can visit nearby towns, parks, and history.
Was in Faribault for a conference and decided to stay here instead of a chain hotel. Its an easy walk to downtown restaurants and businesses, and Tami & Doug couldnt have been nicer or more accommodating. My room was clean and cozy, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Looking forward to going back when I have time to sit on the porch with a glass of wine. Thanks so much Tami & Doug!
Beautiful B&B. Tami made us feel so welcome, and at home there. Rooms are lovely and comfortable, and breakfast was to order, and yummy! Will definitely be going back.
Charmingly beautiful, historic house run by two wonderfully interesting people. Ive never been bored when I visit. I could go on and on, but really: its worth staying here.
We spent a night at the Historic Hutchinson House in Coughlins Room. Tami was warm and welcoming. She knew all about things to do in Faribault and recommended some nice restaurants for dinner. We were able to walk where we wanted to go because the location is nice and close to the main street. Breakfast was amazing, served out on the beautiful porch. Wed definitely come back!
Ive stayed here multiple times through the years. I even have my own favorite room. The hospitality is second to none and Tami makes a mean breakfast and takes great care to avoid food allergies. Once when I was there I cut myself and off to the ER we went. It was a first for them but they treated me like family and made sure I was taken care of properly. You wont be disappointed.
Wonderful stay at this historic, recently renovated house. Tami and Doug where fantastic hosts, the rooms where very comfortable and a welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast was awesome. If you are looking for a get away my wife and I would highly recommend
Youll miss a great time no matter what your motives for getting away from "it all" at the Hutchinson House. Tami, Doug, and Louis are simply great to be around. Dont hesitate....make plans today. Life is way to short to waist too much time planning.
The house and its proprietors are just lovely (not to mention the adorable puppy!). We felt very welcome and had a stellar evening - lots of privacy and very comfortable bed. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, coffee was great, and conversation with the hosts and other guests flowed easily. We cant wait to come back!
This was my first BnB experience, and chose the perfect place! Doug and Tami are the easiest people to talk to and made my girlfriend and I feel right at home. The breakfasts were incredible(!!and they had multiple suggestions of entertainment and activities to do. I would highly recommend staying here for anyone looking into a BnB.
A gem of a B&B. Doug and Tami are friendly, engaging hosts. They have a great knowledge of Faribault to make good recommendations for dining, etc. The inn has a great history, and is very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was wonderful. We look forward to our next stay!
The owners are just wonderful. Very hospitable. Great breakfast every morning. There dog welcomes you every time you come in. The bed I slept in was very comfortable!
I took my girlfriend on a little overnight getaway. I chose the Historic Hutchinson House due to good reviews and I knew neither of us had been to Faribault before so it would be fun to explore together. We arrived at 5pm a little earlier than I had said we were coming but it wasnt an issue. We were greeted by warm smiles from Tami and Doug who welcomed us in. We got a tour of the house and were shown up the stairs to our room. The house is furnished beautifully with decor that is classic and elegant while also not feeling old or stuffy. The house air is warm and comfortable while having a little scent of old vintage Victorian. Its hard to explain but when walking up the stairs it smelled a hint like my grandmas house(in a good waywarm and comforting. Our room was up the back staircase where the maids quarters would have been. The room was BEAUTIFUL . I chose Dr. Haesslys Suite as it had a lovely screened in porch with a love-seat. The room also had a wonderful jet tub that fits two slim 30 year old kids in it just fine. We were not disappointed one bit with our room.Tami and Doug were very kind and were ready and willing whenever we had questions and also had recommendations for dinner and ideas on what to do. They also had plenty of reading material that we loved; giving the history of the house, the city and places to check out the next afternoon. The morning breakfast was perfect with coffee and orange juice as well as a raspberry topped hearty oatmeal style baked starter(dont remember the fancy name but it was greatfollowed by a thick sliced english muffin topped with egg, bacon, and vegetables. Breakfast was topped off with a few slices of banana bread it was perfect...Overall we had a lovely experience and well be back again for sure.
We enjoyed the personal attention, time on the front porch and the lovely breakfast. We are looking forward to staying again!
Tami and Doug have done very well with this bed and breakfast. The room we stayed in was the Johnsons Pride and included a book that explained the history and naming of each room. The breakfast we had was exceptional, Tami home cooked and gave special attention to each dish while Doug was able to strike up conversations between all the residents. A very fun and relaxing break from the norm. Their dog, Butler, was very courteous as well.
Loved our stay in this beautiful house. We stayed in Dr. Haessly suite and had our own private screened in balcony right off our room! Tami and Doug made us feel so at home and were very knowledgable about the history of the community and the home itself. The house is located in a lovely residential and quiet neighborhood yet its only a short walk to the grocery store or good restaurants. We loved walking through the neighborhoods and admiring the beautiful homes, many of which, like the Hutchinson House, are on the National Register of Historic Places. If youre looking for a place to stay in Faribault, consider the Hutchinson House. You wont be sorry!
“My Wife & I were celebrating Valentines Day & 27 yrs 11mth Wedding Anniversary. We were welcomed by the smiling face of Tami, and the incredible gentleness of Butler the Bulldog! From that point, it only exceeded our expectations. The room was incredibly welcoming as we opened the door, (we wanted to stay indefinitely. The impromptu appetizers & wine get together with the Innkeepers Tami & Doug, along with the four other couples there that night really brought everyone together. Breakfast - I can not even begin to describe, it was incredible and surrounded by great conversation (taxesand much laughter. Anytime we are in the area, we will definitely plan on staying under the roof of the Hutchinson House! Also, thank you Tami & Doug for the introduction to Luanne, my Wife loves her creativity and will be back down within the next two weeks to pick up more of her handmade wool artistry.”
Two friends and I enjoyed a delightful girls get away weekend at the Historic Hutchinson House in Faribault. We were greeted warmly and enjoyed hearing a bit of the house history before being shown to our charming rooms. After going out to explore the shops on their main street and having a wonderful dinner we returned to the inviting living room and parlor area to chat. We all slept well as the beds were comfortable and woke to a delightful leisurely three coarse breakfast. Such a treasure to have within such easy driving distance of the twin cities!
