Historic Downtown Strand Seaport Partnership - Association or organisation in Galveston, United States
great place to see alot
I definitely recommend driving around downtown when visiting
Not a lot to do. Streets are poorly kept and all the surroundings are visibly deteriorated
Cute old building. Very touristy. Probably many people from cruise are walking around. Little stores are cute
Wayne has played multiple events for our nonprofit agency during receptions and dinner. His music is perfect to set a peaceful and enchanting mood for the evening. Everyone who has heard him loves his music. He is very self-sufficient for set up just before the event, which is always a blessing to event coordinators. Id have used Wayne for my daughters wedding if shed stayed in the country for it. I highly recommend him! Very professional and his music is a blessing.
Great historic location. Beautiful period buildings. Nice shops.
Amazing place!! Must go! Amazing place to walk and look at all the shops, if you like learning its a great to go because there is a lot of history and fun facts around. If thats not your thing, no worries! There are a lot of shops with unique stuff to go see.
All of the staff were amazing! The drivers and porters were super friendly, and our vehicle was safe and secure!
A block of bars, several blocks of shopping, all in very old buildings. There is a great game store call Play at the Stand, but that was the only thing that really drew us in. Cant imagine walking up and down the street in summer heat or when a bunch of ships were in port.
A lot of shops and places to eat here. The museums are interesting and fun to see. Always hit up La Kings for the ice cream and hit up Yagas for lunch/dinner. The Pirate museum is highly recommended to visit.
Beautiful downtown area oozing charm and character. You can tell the area is well maintained and the restaurants and bars are very reasonably priced! We took a walk along the sea shore and enjoyed the many seafood markets here. Reminds me of Tokyo when I was there!
Went to the Shark Shack to grab a bite and a drink. We got the Burger just to split between 2 people but it was so good I wished we hadnβt shared it. The meat for the hamburger is not the frozen patty like some places! Plus, unlike other places where you donβt have a choice of how itβs cooked, you can order it the way you like. It came out perfectly cooked and was the best burger Iβve had in a long time. The atmosphere is upbeat and fun and the employees are great.Lastly, we sat and ate at the bar and the bartender as did many others. But the bartender did not forget about you. She never acted rushed and as if she didnβt have time to talk to you. She smiled the whole time she was working and engaging with us and other customers as well as the rest of the employees. Everything felt cohesive. I know this a lot for a small restaurant and bar but when you find a hidden gem you just want others to know. I will be going back next time Iβm in Galveston. π
Love π every minute of Galveston havent been to The The Strand Galveston in over 10 years. Im a Texas Boy so it didnt take much for me. Galveston is really ramping up and Ill be back for more. Come see π the island π π
Its beautiful town with little shop ... heritage looks.... ππππ
We love walking the strand everything we visit Galveston. Variety of shops and eats and plenty of metered parking.
Walking downtown is a very nice thing to do with family. We got to enter all the shops and found sk many beautiful accessories and cute clothing. Many new foods to try as well when we come back!!
Always love strolling the strand. Wishing there were more accessible public restrooms. And maybe some cooling stations. But always enjoy it.
I love all the shops. They have great music and food. Always kid friendly and alot of places are now pet friendly. Parking can be a hassle at times but it is definitely worth it. The chess game is not out there anymore but thats ok. If you can go. You wont regret it.
Neat shops carrying everything from clothes, jewelry, knick knacks, food, candy, etc. Be sure to check out Holistic solutions! I bought a ring and havent had to take a sleep aid since. Wear comfortable shoes. So much to see.
Its really nice just to pass the day. Alot of things to see. Really enjoyed our visit there
Thoroughly enjoyed walking around downtown. Music on e every corner, great food and plenty of shopping.
Very nice and fun at night. The whole strand is very lively and good food everywhere.
The Strand is the reason to visit Galveston. Itβs so charming and lively, itβs really a must.
Beautiful Historic Downtown! We love walking and experiencing places, and this town center simply draws you in with timeless architecture, diverse shops, wonderful food, and friendly people.
went on ghost tour. it was fun an spooky
My Wife and I had an AWESOME day in the Historic area of Galveston. The weather was BEAUTIFUL and there were many small shops to browse in. For me, I loved that you could also drink your BEER πΊ on the streetπ
Great to walk and buy tickets to boat rides.
Lots of fun shopping, eating and enjoying the day!
Fun shopping area to stroll around at. We enjoyed the atmosphere and going in to the various shops. Lots of great food and drink options in the area too! There also is an awesome mural in the courtyard area.
aAwesome place to let loose and enjoy the Galveston life!
Great shopping, great food. All on the historical port. The whole area has a bourbon street, New Orleans feel.
The Dickens festival was very enjoyable, all the folks in period dress made it special.
Always a fun place to come hang out and look around. Lots of cool shops and I retesting things to do and eat and try. The jerky place is good and has unique things to try, and gives samples. The la king candy shop is yummy. And it is just a pretty and older place to walk around.
Very crowed but was there for Lone Star Rally.
Nice place was down for the lone Star bike rally
Very Nice area to Walk Around, Shop, Relax, Grab a bite to eat ir get a nice cold beverage. Has an old town feel
Always a fun place to visit lots ofhistory, cool shops and great restaurants...favorite would be Willie Gs seafood ....
Cant believe they turned away customers when the place was full (the confectionery). Thats bad business. Ended up at Ben & Jerrys, which was happy to stay open after closing time, to continue serving customers.
Nice for a romantic stroll or a family adventure. Lots to do and see. La Kings is a must stop. There malts are amazing. Hand made candy. Lots of space. Love this place. Go see the Elissa boat. Great piece of history. Be sure to watch the video. Lots of info.
What a beautiful place! Had a blast there, and had the chance to see a Royal Caribbean ship sail. Will sure comeback.
Great place to stroll around. They have a lot of shops and places to eat. The old buildings are cool to see.
Yearly tradition for me and my son to come the day after Christmas and buy a ornament.... they mark them down 50% we enjoy the strand as well
Cool Place, lots of things to do and see! We were here for Dickens on the Strand, enjoyed just sitting out on the sidewalk and people watching, having a Bellini! Found a cool little bar with some good live music. We did a little dancing and drinking! Fun Time! π
I love the strand. The architecture, the shops, the shop owners are all great. Its a fun day trip from Houston. We do it as often as we can. Go early, shops open around 11. Eat lunch and leave mid afternoon before it gets crowded.
Its not as nice as it used to be. There are bunches of Art Galleries and eclectic stores, but it just wasnt the same. Maybe we didnt get to the right part, but I wasnt impressed with what we did see. There was a nice used book store holding an Author signing, and it had a bibliocat. Other than that, I found the prices pretty high comparatively. One of the books I bought was listed for $14.99 in the store, but Amazon and Barnes and Noble has it selling for $12.99. The owner sold it to me for the reduced price. (I wouldnt buy it otherwise).
Best walk ever. So many sites to see. My daughter loved the live bands playing.
Great shopping, delicious dining, perfect people watching! Stroll down the sidewalks and soak in the historic architecture! These old buildings are homes to the best shopping on the island! Unique gifts, clothing, home decor, you name it...it can be bought on the Strand. And above the shops, many people call those historic lofts "Home"! The rail trolley will be making a comeback soon after being damaged in Hurricane Ike. Head over to Pier 21 for more great dining, museums, dolphin tour boat rides, and the best sunset views on the island!
The Strand is a great district to visit. So much to see and do. There is a Starbucks of course. There are ice cream parlors, bars, live music, Rocky Mountain Chocolate, museums, restaurants and so much more. You can walk to the pier and may see huge jellyfish or take a dolphin tour. There is a trolley also than you can ride. I love the carriage rides that are also informative. Most of the people are very friendly in the shops. There are great finds. A little helpful fact is that lots of these shops have coupons to the Landrys restaurants for things like priority seating and free appetizers! Must pay for parking but it is reasonable.
Nice place to walk, good restaurants!
Numerous shops & eateries. 97% of the shops are not handicap assesable. My husband had to carry my walker up a minimum of 5 stairs in each shop then come back down to help me up. Only 2 shops we went into had either ramp or lift.
