Compact outpost offers Nepalese, Tibetan & Indian dishes & a daily lunch buffet in a comfy setting.
One of the sweetest owners. They have good service with a cheerful relaxing atmosphere. And THE best Nepalese food Ive ever had. The curries have the perfect amount of spice and simmer. Cant recommend this enough. I personally get the vegetarian curries, but Ive had the fried rice too and it is just as good. Perfect for a date with your loved ones.
The best Naan I have ever had! Slightly sweet. My food was fantastic. Ive had better rice, but that will not stop me from recommending you to eat here. Service was slow the day I went for lunch, not sure if that is a regular occurrence.
I am a foodie and know many places with good cuisine around Minneapolis but whenever I crave for Nepalese food, Himalayan Resturant has peaked my interest in recent days. The food tastes great especially their momos. The owner is a gem of a personality and always extending his service beyond the dining experience.
Hands down the best Nepali food in the town. I am a Nepalese and lived in Dallas area for 5 and half years. There is an abundance of Nepali restaurants there but Himalayan Restaurant in Minneapolis is the place where I found the best Nepalese hospitality and homely ambience. The pyaji and the vegetable mo:mo were awesome. All the correct amount of spices in the chutney and the dish overall makes them an authentic Nepali food. Totally satisfied with the experience of dine in.
If you’re looking for incredible food that is clearly made with love and care, look no further. This place impresses me every time. They don’t make massive portions, but what you get is so special and delicious. It sounds so silly but I think love is their #1 ingredient. You can really taste it.
Very warm and family friendly environment. The owner was very nice; he was personally going around the tables making sure that the food was good and the customers were happy. I would highly recommend this place; the best Nepalese restaurant in the twin cities.
Was visiting MN for work and stopped by Himalayan Restaurant for lunch based on Google Reviews. This place did not disappoint at all. Great food that tasted authentic and every staff was friendly. Also, their special salmon Tikka is a must try.
The food was excellent and wait-staff was attentive. They had nearly a full page of vegetarian and vegan friendly options, and I chose the Katmandu Curry - delicious! I went with mild and my husband went with a 3 on their 1-7 spiciness scale. He likes spicy food, but quickly wished hed gone lighter. He still ate all of it though! Well be back with friends and family for sure.
Did an order pick up and came home to find the chicken tandoori I ordered is still pink and raw (like i cannot eat it Called the restaurant asking for a partial refund, they were rude and told us to microwave the chicken and eat it, then hung up… Glad for the professionalism. Edit: They did end up refunding us thankfully
Ive been here probably 20 times. It might be my favorite restaurant in Minneapolis. I like dining in because the ambience is wonderful.Kathmandu curry is my most ordered item. The daals are excellent. The combo deals are amazing value, perfect for a date.
This is me and my husbands favorite restaurant to eat at. The food is delicious every time and the owner is an extremely kind man. He takes extra care to make sure his customers are taken care of. I overheard him talking to some customers from out of town and was very impressed to see him show them what mn nice really is. The experience and service he gave them was just as great as the one he gives to is every single time! Definitely go eat here if you are in the cities, and try the momos-you wont regret it! 5 stars all around!!
Fresh delicious lamb dishes. The food was exquisite! Many flavors meshing together for absolute perfection. The mango chutney is fresh and very yummy. Very nice people
Amazing food! Cheap price for huge portion. We had like 4-5 boxes to take home 🤣 and the owner was really sweet, he let us try some herbal fresher from Nepal. Very interesting experience 💕
Best Nepali food in Minneapolis. The owner is very sweet and brings us complementary pickles, papads etc every time
Highly recommend! Jeera aloo is the dish to get (the potato one on the right side of my picture. Also pictured - chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. The owner is very nice and remembers all the repeat customers.
We have been coming here since Himalayan was just a small place on Franklin over 10 years ago. The food is as amazing as ever and the team running it the very best. Highly recommended — it’s almost enough reason to move back to Minnesota!
Authentic Nepali food in the heart of Minneapolis. We are regular customers of Himalayan and love coming back here. They have great vegan options as well. Highly recommend if you want to try Nepali, Indian food.
If you want to eat the best food and also get a homely treatment and vibe, with owner showering some freebies/snacks to taste.. then THIS IS YOUR PLACE!! This would be my first restaurant in US where owner comes and gives some homemade pickles to try, getting good after food mouth fresheners without any limit and much more! Try the steamed momos (dimsumsthey are out of the world. Every item was amazing. Wish I could give it more than 5 stars.
I really like this place. The food is super delicious and the price is reasonable. This is in fact one my favorite restaurants in Minneapolis. I specially love their combo meal. It comes with multiple items and is a very cost effective choice for 2 people.
Not to exaggerate this place is one of the best places I’ve ever ate at. I would give it more stars if I can! I highly recommend this place without hesitation ! My family and I ordered the Coconut Shrimp curry and Chicken Tikka with fresh garlic naan bread on the side. Great for dipping the naan bread… PHENOMENAL is all it is! Thanks for the great experience will definitely come back.
They have really really good food. All kind of food available and it’s really delicious too and they have really good service
This place is a 10/10 highly recommend! Great customer service, food came quickly, and the food was delicious ☺️
The food is hand made and extremely delicious!! Lots of good flavor and a very great experience overall!
Excellent authentic Nepali food. I had goat curry, momo, naan and they were delicious. Owner is super friendly and helpful. He gave us several dishes to try out without any charge. I Highly recommend this place.
Food is fantastic! Friendly, attentive service, comfortable seating and a very nice patio. They were very busy, (Friday nightbut service was very good, food came out in good time, no delay at all. Definitely will come back next time we are in town!
The food is so so yummy I enjoyed the atmosphere and the customer service! The owner is such nice guy and helpful with menu and food choices of your flavor he makes he every you please I will be coming back again!!!
The restaurant is very nice and clean. Plus, it has nice outside seating. The owner is super nice. Great service 👍 We have been coming here for so many years and the favor is always consistent. Our favorite dishes is Goat curry, Fish curry, Momo, Chicken Tikka Masala and of course my #1 is Garlic Nan bread. They make it fresh per order. Cant go wrong with anything on the menu.
The paneer and lamb takkia masala were insanely good! The lamb kebab was also worthy to try.
Came here for my birthday lunch! Wanted to try a new indian restaurant and this place has a variety of different food, my sister and dad said theyll come back! So very good food & service!! We got chicken tikka masala which was AMAZING, the size of the chicken in it is great. Coconut curry, my mom liked it. Spicy fried rice, not exactly sure what its called but my dad got that, he said medium spice was very spicy for him! 2 Samosas, plain naan, and chicken momos! Wish we got more naan in one order & wish there was more chicken in the momos, too much onion for me... but my sister really loved it! Whole fam enjoyed it so yeah, this restaurant was a great choice!
We enjoyed this restaurant a lot. Our recent visit on a Thursday evening was our second; I think the place compares vary favorably with Everest on Grand where we’ve eaten numerous times. The sauces seemed just shade lighter and less earthy. The vegetables - though certainly not under cooked - were a little more identifiable. Our server was efficient - but not really attentive or friendly. The prices seemed a bit less then Everest. Parking was easy. The dining room appeared well tended. The manager/owner was highly visible.
My family brought me to The Himalayan Restaurant for Fathers Day because they know I really enjoy their offerings. I have eaten here enough times that Ive tried most of the items on their menu so I ordered my favorite: The Chicken Choyla. I ordered it very spicy as is my habit and was satisfied. I was only slightly disappointed that their hot sauce was a bit heavy on the vinegar but overall the meal was quite tasty. If I were forced to choose, I would probably have to say that the hot sauce at their St. Paul competitor (The Everestis a bit better but I would not hesitate to eat at either establishment. Will definitely return regularly. {:^D
Great food, I got the chicken Tikka, wad good.
They have probably the most authentic Indian-Nepali food in Minneapolis. Really friendly atmosphere and great service, but the food takes the cake. Everything I order from here tastes great and exactly as it should.Always recommended their poori (fried breadand goat curry in tomato gravy.Update: Still a great experience, with easygoing vibes, great food, and the owner is super nice. Small but nice patio too.
I come from Chicago to eat here.. best food and the best customer experience. The owner is very caring and gives the best experience.
Very impressive Nepali restaurant!!I loved the food. The owner is friendly and the servers are great. Very authentic. Love the decorations.
Went and had dinner in their patio with my daughter. The food was amazing and the portion sizes were huge. Wonderful the whole way their and the staff was super friendly. She had the Chicken Tikka Masala and I had a Fried rice dish. Make sure to order the Naan.
Awesome experience!! The food was delicious without being greasy. The owner was very polite and offered us some pan masala at the end. This is the place we will stop to it every time we go to Minneapolis.
The momo dumplings are so delicious and were perfectly steamed. Im not sure what the sauce was but it was amazing. The naan was extra buttery. I ordered mild spice for my curry, and my friend ordered medium. I was not strong enough for hers. The curries were fine. Plenty of seating and parking. Fast service.
The best Indian restaurant. The owner is very good - takes good care of the customers. I have been multiple times - creamy kathmandu curry , okra and momos are my favorites.
Always enjoy my time here! They have great vegetarian dishes, my favorite is their okra dish, even if youre not vegetarian (Im not), Im sure youll still love the flavors each vegetarian dish offers. Love their curry and garlic naan. I usually end the meal with leftovers to take home and a cup of chai. They cater to all spice levels for their dishes. The staff is super friendly and happy to answer questions about the menu items. *note: pictures were taken on separate visits*
Everything about Himalayan Restaurant is fantastic! From the delicious food with amazing flavors to the friendly service to the unique atmosphere with beautiful artwork inside and the option of outdoor seating in the summer, this has become one of my absolute favorite restaurants. Parking is easy and convenient with a large free parking lot. Do your taste buds a favor and check this place out!
It was a great experience, food was great. They had these specials for two which was an amazing deal which came with two entrees rice dessert pickle and a soup and costs between $24-28. Try it out when you are in the area. Friendly staff that were super helpful. They warned us when we were over ordering too, usually they just let you order. Definitely will return to try more food on their menu. They have a lot of vegetarian options, and local regional options. Even with the bread they have the garlic naan which is awesome but they also offer roti (which is healthierand both stuffed and non stuffed paratha. They have a medium beer selection but there is variety in it.
DELICIOUS food & friendly service! The momos are THE BEST! Really enjoyed the palak paneer too and the garlic naan can’t be beat. Highly highly recommend this restaurant!
Menu was clear and waiter answered all our questions. Food was hot and fresh and the sauces were explained to us. Everyone was very nice and seemed to care about making sure the food was to everyones spice level and satisfaction. Service was a little slow even with us being the only ones there. Will definitely come back and recommend to others!
This place is great. I highly recommend the appetizer sampler, very much enjoying their mo mos and onion/jalapeño fritters. Unfortunately I dont recall the name of my entrée, I just know that it is mushroom based. The Himalayan flavor really comes through and they even have Himalayan coffee. This place is a local favorite as well, and I could easily try every item on the menu. Highly recommended!
Great place to have a flavourful meal. The restaurant has outside gazebo style seating arrangement as well as indoor seating arrangements. Ill definitely recommended outdoor seating for summers! The ambience is much vibrant for an outdoor dinner experience! The food offered is flavourful and has various spice level offerings based on your requirements. They so provide separate spice sauce if asked, that way you can order medium spicy if unsure and later spice your meal with side sauce. Momos are highlights for this place, being a Nepalese, Tibetan and Indian cusine based restaurants. The steamed and fried momos are a must try. The service is good. The restaurants has its own parking space comfortable for 15 or so cars. Overall a great place to try a different style of cooking with friends, families and co-workers!
We ordered the non-veg combo which was enough for two people. It comes with two entrees, dal, dessert and a chutney/achar. We also ordered alu pakora as an appetizer. Everything was freshly made, served hot and tasted good. My only complaint would be the service. We had to wait long to order our food, and then even longer when we needed something. There were at least 4 servers, and only two tables of customers including us, both were a party of two. One of the server started vacuuming while we were eating our lunch, not a pleasant experience when dust is all around your food. But if you decide to take out, this is certainly a good place.
Absolutely delectable!I ordered takeout Himalayan Restaurant’s Ram Toria Aloo (Okra[Extra Extra Hot] and it had a solid spiciness level to it. The okra, potatoes, and tomatoes were cooked wonderfully and the Nepalese spices brought everything together! The Half Momo (All Vegetarianwere delicious as well!I hope to be ordering again soon!
Himalayan Restaurant has fantastic food and excellent service. Their staff is consistently going above and beyond, and their pace of service doesn’t change regardless of how busy they are. They also have an awesome takeout area that keeps food very hot for pickup. Highly recommend and a regular customer! Thanks for everything.
We happened to be in the neighborhood and saw the good reviews oh the Himalayan Restaurant and decided to check it out. They were right! We shared an order of chicken choyala and an order of garlic naan. Both were excellent. The choyala was just right - fresh and creative mix of seasonings without being overwhelming. Good amount of charcoal flavor on the chicken. And just the right amount of heat. Portions were plentiful. Service was fast friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.
