Modern center encouraging scientific learning through sports with a rock wall, ropes & lasers.
Sad they havent opened the rock climbing wall yet.
At sportsworks, it seems like theyre working to bring back some of the more popular attractions, bit sad from where it used to be and compared to the rest of the museum. Almost wish they used it as additional exhibit space. That being said, its a nice big indoor space for the kids to run around and as members we get a lot of use out of it. Looks like theyre trying hard to keep it going though, and Im excited to see what happens with it after they finish focusing on the new Mars exhibit in the main science center
Kids have fun and theres even some things for adults to do if they choose. Love the science center!
If i could give less than 1 star i would. Just a horrible experience all together with the science center. Hadnt been there in a while and was not what I remember. Very over crowded people were just plain ignorant. Got there at 12 was told the submarine tour was part of general admission then when we went down there was told u have to have separate tickets and they were sold out for the day. The sports complex doesnt have half the stuff it used to. Attractions were closed and was also very over crowded. Would not recommend ever going back.
So me and my kids used to come here about twice a year when visiting family (per covid), this last time we were kinda disappointed. Most of what is here now is just some old items from the robotic floor of the science center. We were really looking forward to the rope course that was there the last time, but its gone now. Its not a bad place to take kids just dont expect to spend more then 30 minutes here.
Rockwall is closed. A number of the entertaining kids exhibits have been removed. Not what it used to be.
Great place to let kids be kids, rain or shine. Let them run it all out there and theyll focus better in the science center.
Some fun activities for kids but kinda hoped for some more some things didnt function properly seemed a bit chaotic
My granddaughters were very excited to visit. Lots of activities for them to enjoy. We only spent an hour and could have stayed much longer! Will plan better for the next trip. Activities for all ages.
Combined with the Science Center admission, this center offered a few extra activities. Unfortunately, many exhibits didnt function properly. The climbing wall was closed. Plenty of staffers around, but most werent doing anything, like monitoring the attractions or managing guests. This center needs an overhaul; underwhelming for kids today.
Not a ton to do and always alittle crowded but still fun for the kids to learn though quite a few of the things were broken that we tried the kids didnt care and still had a blast
Grandchildren loved it but there could be more attractions. Long waits to get a turn.
Despite it being sports themed, it was still accessible by wheelchair and very fun! Favorite thing was seeing how much force your karate chop had!
This place is fantastic for families. I took my 6-year-old while my wife had my other daughter doing other things in town. We spent a few hours there which felt just right. I didnt get to go into the submarine but I had done that when I was younger and Id like to take my daughter but they were sold out today. The current center piece of the science center is the history of guitars July 2022. The mid floor is a United health exhibit on the body. My daughter really enjoyed looking at x-rays and MRIs and cat scans and whatnot. As always, anything planet related is King. They really loved seeing what their weight on other planets. Sad that the gift shop wasnt carrying any space food at the time, but its easy to get free dried stuff online for them to try. She bought a few other small things in the gift shop and all in all its a good time.
Took my grandson there he had a blast
This is part of the Carnegie Science Center ticket admission, so it is worth another area to explore. Our 6 and 10 year old enjoyed it even though some of the activities were shut down for repair.
Pretty fun for all ages and some of the exhibits are great but a few of them are closed down or broken at the moment. I would give it five stars if everything were open.
An okay place, felt like most of the activities/displays were geared towards younger kids.
We did this cool contraption called the You-Yo!! You gotta try it!! All the other sports equipment was really cool too!! ANYONE CAN DO IT!!
Theyve stopped maintaining a lot of the exhibits here and now its a huge open area with some bikes on display. Waste of time and space.
Very interactive fun addition to the science center, has something for all ages.
I took my kids there and they took out so many cool things out the rock climbing was closed the climbing obstacle course was taken out for the science of bikes yay
Kids love it. Employees great with kids. Not a lot to do
Years ago my beautiful Mom n I took my son here n we had a blast! This time my wonderful, beautiful Mom n I took my son n daughter n it was such a letdown!! The place seems super small, not many exhibits, mostly just standing n touching, not many actual activities to interact n experience as u would think. I guess I would say there was 1 ok exhibit that took u up on the air on a rope n the other 1 which would have been cool, the rock wall ended up being closed. So all in all I would say this was def not worth the $58+bucks for 2 kids, 1 adult n 1 senior. It was a nice day out with my Mom n the kiddos, but we would not go again. Thats a letdown!! Better luck next time for our family memories! Safe travels... ✌️ Peace
A wonderful twist on a kids museum. My only complaint was more than a few exhibits were out of order. If you buy tickets for the Science Museum, stop here after.
It was fun for children of all ages. Expect to wait in line for most stations. It is an open large area with different centers so expect it to be loud and chaotic.
Its fine. It is nowhere near as exciting as it was several years ago. There are a few activities on the inside but now admission is included with your ticket to the science center. It is fine as an add-on but I would not have paid for that experience separately
So much to do. Check speed of your swing, race there is a timer shows speed & winner much more. All 5 children loved it. The sports works is included in admission price the submarine is also included in admission price. Rango theater is separate purchase.
Fun but alot of the things we used to love here have been removed (no more motion simulator or zipline/ropes course). The human yo-yo was our favorite we also enjoyed the light tag game. I was surprised at how little stuff were in the sportsworks building in comparison to the actual science center.
Some of the attractions inside were closed for unknown reasons. It greatly reduced my groups fun being that the best part was out of commission I considered asking for a discount or refund because of it.
Admittedly we were there on a weekday the week before Christmas and it wasnt very busy... But all the good things to do (ropes course and rock wallwerent open. Feels like this place is in need of a post-pandemic refresh.
Sportsworks is our family favorite for exercising and virtual sports. Here are a few pictures of some fun exercises that keep my kids entertained. We have a great time playing on the you-yo. The team that works there are so nice and helpful. You will find many things to do here.
We loved the climbing rock wall! And the kids had a blast being a human yo-yo. Dont wear a dress or skirt because you will want to play, too
Loved this place! It is a great way yo let your kids play after thr science center. My kids loved running and learning about science. Make sure you take the time to enjoy this hidden gem. They have rock climbing, wheel chair racing, a light racer and so much more!
This is my kids favorite part of the Carnegie science center! We were disappointed today that the ropes course wasnt available... But still had a great time! Def worth the admission just for the rock climbing and ropes course.
The kids favorite spot, rain or shine. My youngest loves to attempt the rock wall. A good bit of walking is involved however its packed with fun so they barely notice!
The line to get in is absurd, even having to wait when tickets were purchased in advance. Theres so SOOOOOO MANY PEOPLE, theyre just jamming people in any and every which way possible. Even without covid regulations and/or restrictions, this many people just should NOT be allowed in here! Its too many people to even be able to enjoy anything at all whatsoever. Carnegie science center, Im EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS HORRENDOUSLY ATROCIOUS EXPERIENCE! The one and ONLY reason I am having the tiniest bit of a good time is because Im with my 7 year old son and my boyfriend and anywhere with them is a good day in my book. Do NOT go here if you want to actually have something to do.
Cool place for the kids cant wait till COVID finally gone
Interesting place with their two big things shut down (Rockwall and rope climbingdue to covid. I was shocked to see how everything here was hands on, but nothing was periodically wiped down and you had to hunt down in corners of the place for hand sanitizers. Which was a huge disappointment. There was one worker doing a rope jump and was wiping that down between kids but that was it. He was very friendly and had great patience for the kids struggling. There was nice stations where you can test your running speed, jump height, reaction times, batting..ect which was cool. However, I wouldnt come here for just this place, only if youre also doing the science museum.
Fun place for everyone whos young and want to be young.
This place is so much fun with lots to do for the kids and the kid in us all. My only complaint is the extremely long wait for the rope walk. We waited for an hour and a half and I didnt think the place seemed that busy. But it was worth it.
We had a great time! Fun for all ages.
It was great place to learn and to send extra energy. Had no idea it had a "ropes" course for the kids and adults!
Great family place to go. Mainly targeting kids from the age of 5 to 16. However my son was 3 and had a blast. Next door to the science center which is wonderful for any age
Great time here for the family. Pittsburgh seems to know how to keep families together!
Wonderful place for a wide range of ages. Lots of opportunities for adventure. Adults and kids can join in. Climbing wall, high ropes, low ropes. Lots of options. Wonderful, helpful staff. Kudos all around. A favorite for my family.
Awesome place for the kids. Lots of interactive things got the kids to do. Definitely would come again.
Hubby and I came here to do rock climbing and the rope obstacle. Kids taller than 48 inches can participate, but adults can still have fun doing them. It was a hot day (over 90 degreesso it was nice to do these things indoors, and admission to the museum and parking were affordable. I definitely recommend coming here.
BEST PIZZA IN PITTSBURGH!!!! Hands down best pizza in western PA. I mean its almost like being in NJ or NY (where obviously pizza is on an orgasmic levelOh yeah lots to do for the kids. I recommend going early and on days that arent popular like mondays or any day other kids are in school. Long lines for all the fun stuff which there are about 3 (fun thingsscience center is cool. Def prepare for water play. Anyway the kid had fun and did I mention they have the BEST PIZZA IN PITTSBURGH? Its TRUE.
Overall well done. We did not do the two big features - rock climbing or ropes course - but there were a number of other interesting and interactive activities for the kids.
