The staff accommodated all our ADA needs. They were friendly and helpful. The rooms were large and better than I expected. Everything you would need for a brief or Extended Stay

Just checked for rates but never stayed. Wasnt feeling the vibe so I split?

Theres rooms are nice. My boyfriend got sick and threw up and they made me take the stuff to the wash house and wash the covers with my own money. I even had to buy the detergent with my own money. On top of everything else they didnt even say thank you.

It was okay! But can use some improvement!

Rude and racist. They don’t like black people. DON’T COME HERE! Rooms dirty, no clean towels. Room service steals out your room!

Terrible place. Reminded me of an "hourly" motel. Dont let the pictures online fool you as they did us. Filthy, run down, smelly, uncomfortable, towels with someone elses hair on them... I could honestly go on and on. We cancelled the rest of our stay, and they let us know that it was too bad, and they would not refund us our money.

The only time their prices are decent is if you get it as part of a reward points program or cashback. The service and the owner are nice people. The location is decent and it doesnt seem to be an obvious drug area. They are right across from another motel call Oak motel just in case you dont like them

Staff was very helpful and attentive, but location and room comfort were less than ideal. Stayed here after a late flight in order to be 15 minutes from the airport, so as to not have to spend over $200 on the hotel strip by the airport. Room was sparse with very loud traffic noise and a bed hard as rocks. Plus my room had two entrance doors which made me uncomfortable based on the motels location. I guess you get what you pay for. Next time I fly into Oakland, Ill pony up the cash to stay somewhere a little closer to the airport.

Not impressed at all had a two day stay when my room was cleaned they threw away some of my toiletries I had come back to the room about 2 AM and the front desk was not available upon checking out in the morning I notified the front desk she proceeded to check in storage area to see if the items were put a side of course they were not Recovered so in addition to staying in is so so at best Motel I lost $25 worth of toiletries in the front desk offered nothing in compensation search for something else not worth the money

Nice on the inside. Very clean and quiet. The staff were caring and thorough. And great for commuters.

Dear customer care team, i am a speacial needs patient & had checked into my comfy room 2nd week of feb.2019 for a quick getaway since i am a local your motel came highly recommended then a medical emergency struck & i ubered myself to kaiser emergency room on broadway at 3am...the last thing i wanted to do was leave my comfy bottom level room so after being seen i just decided to go home & had forgotten i left a few snacks & actually left rinsed underharments in the bathroom & later i remembered i also forgot to turn in the key. Thank you so much for understanding cant wait to visit again & i also recommended you to freinds who are out of towners that frequent the Temple Hill Events.thank you for understanding i appreciate it!!JENN M

One of oakland gems, the room was very spacious. Nice big kind size bed with a great flat screen! I felt like i was at home here. Thank you!

My husband and I always stay at the Highlander. Everyone is so very kind and helpful. We hope that they will continue being proprietors of the Highlander in Oakland, California.

If you are looking for a smoking room, stay clear of this hotel. Stayed 1 night. The room hasnt been renovated in probably over a decade or more. Curtains and bed comforter had burn holes. Bathroom was in pretty bad shape. The only good thing was that the sheets appeared to be clean.

Nice and Clean Motel, make sure to confirm and reconfirm ur booking they don’t hesitate to sell it to someone else at the last minute.

Ive been here for three days and I have to say that, for the price, my room is more than adequate. There are (at minimum2 excellent coffee shops within walking distance of the Highlander and my room, while admittedly new, has been clean and as quiet as can be expected. Furthermore, the gentleman at the front desk was quite personable when I arrived.My one huge complaint is that the motel is much further from my daily destination for work than I had initially perceived. Certainly that reflects only on me (and a bit on the booking service I usedthough, rather than motel itself.Overall, no complaints yet. Ill update this if that changes.

The rooms are cozy and in great condition! Mini-fridge, television, hair drier, air-conditioning, and microwave included. The motel is a friendly family owned business. I recommended this motel to any travelers going to San Francisco. 🤠

The place is nice and outside is quiet. Somedays wifi is good. Somedays not so good.

Its cheap, clean, and the owners are nice. Also, given the location of the motel. Its quiet, I was able to sleep soundly. Thats usually not the case with the bigger places, you either have people screaming outside, dragging furniture around at night, or doors constantly slamming.

Good quick motel, staff was nice. Had no towels in room but once I asked he gave us. The bed was comfy and I trusted my stuff in the car. Overall easy stay.

I got bitten by fleas while staying here and they constantly accused me of having guests over when I didnt. The toilet barely worked and the mini fridge had mold in it.

Rude customer service. Stained bed spread, stained dirty looking throw pillows, dirty stained sitting chairs, stained bathtub. Stale odor room. No wash towel only drying towel.

This place will need a copy of you ID when you check in. They scan it into there computer and hold it. They claim the city of Oakland makes them do it. Big cyber security risk...stay away!

Minimum basic requirements for a motel. Just be careful after dark.

READ BEFORE BOOKING YOUR ROOM!!!!!This is a rag head owened place, they are scammer and thefts. I booked a room through yelp and when I got there they said I needed to put a 50$ deposit to make sure we didnt smoke in a non smoking room and I did as they asked. After checking out they did not put my money back on the card when I called they said I had guest stay the night when I did not have anyone in the room. When I called, I ask them what agreement did I sign saying you would be charged 50$ for any guest. I didnt not sign anything stating I forfeit my 50$ deposit if I had guest only if I smoked. They said they had me on camera, I told them I would like to see the footage and if I did have guest overnight I would gladly pay, the rag head lady said she dont have to show me nothing. She has another thing coming my uncle is a lawyer and eat these foreigners business owner up who come to our county and try to cheat us.

The first time I visited the Highlander Motel was around the ft of the month ,I stayed about a week ,I liked the big beds flat screen TV with cable and Internet. I also liked having a microwave, a small refrigerator, in all this a really clean and pleasant place to stay . I feel comfortable and safe everything Im there ,I recommend the Highlander Motel highly

Looks cheap from the outside and the mirrors show wear (crackedbut service was decent. If you need a place thats cheap its not bad for the area.

A reasonably priced motel, that is fairly clean and in a nice location of Oakland. The rooms look like they have new tiles and fresh paint. Overall, this is an excellent location it you intent on saving money visiting San Francisco.

Dont be fooled!! Ugly on the outside, quaint quality on the inside. Melanie was a super hostess, the room was clean the sheets were tight, the TV was big. My negative comment is that a maid came to the door at 10 a.m. and told us it was check out time. Too early and no posted time.

Said they had a kitchen. They dont. Door to room appeared to have been kicked in at some point.

Had to park blocks away, the "back" door to our second floor room was falling off the frame. Tow of the three hinges werent even attached. Could here every room around us like they were in our room. No kitchen in our room, so not all rooms had kitchens. Beds were uncomfortable, pillows were harder than the bed. The only up side was a dvd player in the room, now I wish I had carried dvds with me, NOT! Staff was friendly but they were smart and had bars on their windows, unlike any other rooms.

Usually a place for locals to grab a quick and cheap place to hang out, have parties, or discreet sexual encounters. Owned by the same family that owns most of the off brand hotels/motels in Oakland and San Francisco. They keep minimal standards for rooms and are frequently in your business even if you make it a point to be quiet. They do keep a black list of people they dont want staying there again and check bwfore renting the room

Ghetto area nice room. They force you to leave for 4 n a half hours so they can clean and you cant refuse service

The place may not look so great on the outside, but the inside looks pretty good considering. The guy behind the counter, who was also the cleaning guy, was super awesome. He even came to my door and gave me a bag of cookies! How awesome is that?! The only issue I have is the one guy who kept staring at me through the window as I was getting in and out of my car every time.

It is great for the price! It looks pretty old on the oustide but the room we got was renovated and looked awesome inside, and clean. Would recommend for low budget. Dont expect too much when not paying a lot!!

Comfortable motel outside of San Francisco. The best deal we could find in terms of price for two people in the area on short notice, call in after 4pm day of to get a discount. We were driving into San Francisco in the mornings so we never checked for proximity to public transit. Friendly staff and relatively quiet location. Neighborhood was okay (we didnt really stay therebut not a place Id want to be alone at night and the only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars. All in all had a good stay.

The physical motel itself is a bit run-down, though clean. The location is convenient to bus, local neighborhood is pretty decent with some decent restaurants, though too far from Bart for my taste. The main thing this motel had for it is the staff; they are courteous, most are friendly, and they do go out of their way to ensure you have a good stay. I would have appreciated it if the bathroom had been a little cleaner, but for a pretty cheap night or few away from home, its liveable and the staff makes it moreso.
