Highland Park Whisky Distillery in Kirkwall

Been on a tour of the distillery really fascinating finding all about the process for distilling whisky and sourcing all the ingredients and barrels. Very friendly and informative staff and opportunity to taste the finished product too. Thank you for a great visit

Though not currently a working distillery following an accident (not their faulta couple of months ago, the tour and tasting was really fascinating. It will be even better once the distillery is up and running again.

This was probably the best distillery tour I have done. The tour was informative, and the guide was very knowledgeable. We were able to see where each step of the whisky-making process takes place. The whiskies we tried were quite good, and we were walked through how to best appreciate them. At the end, we were able to take a whisky glass as a souvenir, which was a nice touch.

No complaints, enjoyed it. Shame about the accident a few weeks ago.( not a complaintGood tasters. 4.5 out of 5

The building is lovely. We arrived to find out its guided tours only due to Covid, and tickets can be bought from the shop in town.

Review explicitly for their tours:For 30 pounds its a bit short and lacking information, funny stories, anecdotes and a welcoming feeling. Its all a bit technical: Heres the movie, theres the stills, heres fermentation. Any questions?Whiskey is great though and also the tasting was very well presented. It all just feels a bit uninterested and cold.

Walked in late on in the day to pick up a local whisky. Not disappointed at all when I got home.

Be careful if ordering from the Highland Park website, I ordered two products and one arrived damaged. Ive emailed them and I got a reply that another company deals with it and it would be sorted by them. Well 10 days and a few emails and nothing at all. Ive tried calling the distillery and they have nothing to do with orders apparently and they cannot give me a phone number, they just told me to keep emailing. Very poor customer service, Id recommend if you want to order something thats also availble from another whisky retailer, use them instead.UPDATE: I can confirm this as not been resolved since they replied! Shocking customer service from Highland Park.

Its a nice distillery and makes nice whisky.

Tour is fantastic. So nice to see the old traditional processes. John is a brilliant guide who shares his own lived experience and is highly knowledgeable.

I love the place it was a wonderful worth experience in Orkney. The tour guide was excellent, she was friendly and very informative. The distillery is clean, very well kept and has a particularly interesting history behind. Above all the Highland Park whisky is one of the best whiskies I ever taste. Keep it up!

Fabulous distillery... We had the Magnus Eunson Tasting and got six glasses of fantastic whisky there. The distillery itself is lovely and the staff very friendly. Definitely worth a visit if you are on Orkney.

Great Distillery Tour, one of the best ever and Ive Made a Lot.

Ive toured whisky distilleries before but I enjoyed this one the most. Our guide was very enthusiastic about the product and communicated Highland Parks process very clearly. I quickly identified my new favorite whisky from the samples provided, Valfather. The peaty taste brings me back to Orkney every time I open the bottle. The next time Im in Scotland, I am definitely going back to Highland Park to take part in one of their more extensive tours / tastings.

We (my wife and Ivisited recently and took the ‘Magnus Eunson’ tour - it’s a little more expensive but totally worth it. For starters, you drink the value of the tour just in tastings - including an incredible 30 year old and several 12-18 year olds too.However the best bit was the incredible knowledge and enthusiasm shared by Rupert, who really went above and beyond. A long time writer on whisky, an hour of his time alone was worth the price. We came away knowing so much more than we expected, and really enjoyed his help and aides to tasting (including a ‘nose notes’ box to help you distinguish the nose). It was amazing to have an intimate tour from somebody with such a passion and wealth of knowledge.The distillery itself is also great, using traditional methods meaning you tour something authentic and not just a sea of chrome.Definitely recommended, and I would highly urge you to take one of the special tasting tours like we did. We were hesitant but ultimately so glad we did!

One of the best distilleries in Scotland. I love the location, the facility and the visitor centre is one of if not the best one out there. It was worth every penny and every mile to travel. The tour itself was also very good, informative, enjoyable and all in a kind and friendly manner.

Great value and a wonderful experience the guide was very informative and it was wonderful to see all the methods and also equipment still in use refreshing to see they also give a discount for seniors they also gave us our Highland Park drinking glasses at the end of the tour all in all a great day out

Lovely distillery with their own malting flour. We had the tour, but unfortunately it was silent season so no production.

It is open... But I cannot visit because they have full reservations... :( So, book before you come in Scotland a visit here!

The Magnus Eunson tour was a great experience, especially because of James who was a fantastic guide and host.

Great tour and knowledgeable guides! I knew nothing about whiskey before the tour and came out knowing the process and what makes Highpark Park stand out from the rest. Finished off the tour with a few drams of whiskey and got to keep the glass which was a nice bonus!

Really enjoyed the tour of Highland Park Distillery. Our tour included two small drams and a Glencairn Highland Park glass and a tour of the distillery.

Excellent. We arrived last summer with 13yr old but couldnt do tour. Came back in october a day after his 14th birthday and did the Viking Soul tour. Amazing to see the old and new kilns and the malt floor. Great tour guide who was funny and very clued up and witty.Drams were great too. All in all very good.

Wonderful guided tour from a very pleasant and knowledgeable young lady. Im new to Whisky and learnt to appreciate Highland Park whisky even more. Thank you.

Great distillery tour with Viking heritage (great shout out to our tour guide Charlie - she was the absolute best). Highly recommended. If you drive ask for the drivers kit for 4£ in advance.

Great tour - visitor friendly layout and the right amount of info on the distillation process to satisfy the casual Scotch whisky fan. Tour guide Charlie was great!!

Good tour but it was the silent season so no moving or working parts. A lot of people going through and lucky to get a spot due to a cancellation. Good to see a traditional distillery.

Very good tour and a decent selection of malts to taste. Be aware that they did not offer the malts to take away as other distilleries do for a designated driver. I had been assured they did that, but was declined at the END of the tour - very disappointed

My (adultniece & I had a wonderful time here. The staff was friendly and helped us teach our palates the difference the casks make in the flavor. It was a wonderful diversion to a few days being overwhelmed with the sights and antiquities the Orkney Isles have to offer!

Interesting place with a friendly, knowledgeable and passionate staff, but with shop prices a little bit to the expensive side.

Outstanding staff. If you are here you have come because you are called by the Whisky. If you have come take a worthy tour. An hour covers a lot ... but the longer tours are deep with history, insights and whisky. Enjoy.

Enjoying the whisky is not the guides prime focus. The great Highland Park range of different whiskey is not availible in the shop :( .Otherwise a good experience.

Cracking tour. A really professional guide took us round and was very helpful. During the tasting everything was explained and including tasting and sampling techniques. Scapa is worth a visit but be prepared to be let down after this tour. Best to Scapa first...

Having been to many distilleries, Ive got to say HP is one of the best. Excellent tour & tasting, friendly staff. All in all, fantastic.

Possibly the best whisky in the world, tour is really good and informative I have been on it a few times always finishing with a wee taster at the end. The shop is also good.

Evenly peated, well balanced whisky. Nice tour that leaves on the hour.

A visit to this distillery is on my bucket list. This whisky was first introduced by a good friend and Ive never looked back. Amazing single malt that keeps me coming back. Love the hint smoke and heather notes. Enjoy with a splash water and your favourite music on the headphones. Cheers!

Whisky is second to none, also the tours of the distillery are wonderful as the guides are so knoligable
