Salvington Hill, Worthing BN13 3AT, Littlehampton
Restored, operational 18th-century windmill, open for tours the 1st & 3rd Sun of the month Apr–Sep.
Fascinating, well maintained, working windmill. Knowledgeable guides make the £1 tour of the mill an absolute must. Highly recommended.
Very nice afternoonEveryone so friendly
Lovely old windmill with detailed tours.
Beautifully restored fully working windmill on the edge of the South Downs just north of Worthing. High Salvington Windmill is open to the public, from 2:30 pm to 5 pm, every first and third Sunday from April to September You can take a picnic and have a tour. Dogs are welcome. Unfortunately there are no food or drink facilities here which is a real shame.
We will be coming back to visit on one of the open days to see the windmill working. It’s beautiful to look at, so striking!
Good afternoon at Salvingtom Mill, friendly helpers great tea and cake, a must visit.
Fascinating piece of history. Excellent guides explain the life of the mill and how it works.
A very interesting tour around a mid-eighteenth century windmill with a very knowledgeable guide. And there was cake.
Beautiful place to spend an afternoon. Family- & dog-friendly. £1 entry & £1 tours. Small coffee shop & gift shop. Very interesting tour from Jeff, who was an enthusiastic & friendly volunteer
Annual Christmas carol singing beside a bonfire. Good community spirit. Social distancing adhered to.
A beautiful windmill, Christmas carols and a roaring fire. Beautiful
So so interesting. The staff could not be any better. Went on a wet day and the last open day of this year. Cant wait till they reopen, next year. Kids got involved turning the mill.
Came across the windmill whilst exploring, really pretty and also some stalls selling goods
Unfortunately was closed when we drove up (I should have checked firstbut it looked amazing and my boy was very excited to come back when it is open.
Enjoyed our visit here enormously and thoroughly enjoyed seeing The Sompting Village Morris side-excellent dancers. The guide who showed us round the mill was also excellent.I would rate this a five star visit-this was a special open day!
Only open 14 days a year. Well worth a visit, great, cheap afternoon out.
Great fete every year. Books, tombola, games and tea n cake. So much fun.
Super visit with very informative guides. Coffee and cake was most appreciated.
Was not sure what to expect but wasnt disappointed. Firstly tea/coffee and cakes from a van in the car park (yum), next time well take a picnic to enjoy the view from the car park. Then wandering up the windmill, tour of the working windmill was excellent. Climbing the steps up to view the insides of the windmill is not for anyone who suffers from vertigo.
Very welcoming and well arranged, lovely place to go on a Sunday afternoon.
Intimate venue, classic cars this Sunday (1st August + tour of windmill if interested. Parking a bit of an issue unless you are happy to park outside someones house, which I am not. However, drive down Bost hill towards Findon valley and there is a car park and then a short walk back to windmill. Yes and cakes available here, home made, at reasonable prices. Opening times 14.30-17.00 1st and 3rd Sunday each month.
Beautifully maintained windmill. Well worth a visit but check times as not always open but can see from the road.
For a great day out you must visit the Windmill at Salvington in West Sussex, it has been restored by local enthusiasts to a high specification, and it works, and built in the 17 Century.
Beautiful ancient windmill which has been restored and the site is often used to display classic cars
I love history and loved the tour around the windmill it so happened the day we visted there was a fate! I got some wonderful ale and chilli cheese as well as 2 jars of award winning marmalade made by the jam lady! Who I had a great conversion with.
We had a lovely few hours up here with the children. The open day had regular free tours for people with a guide from the volunteer team, there were stalls, a scalextric to have a go on and tea/cakes for sale. Everyone was friendly and the entrance cost was just £1 each. The tour takes you right inside the windmill on 2 levels. The volunteer team work very hard to keep this windmill going as it is the last left of 9 back in time. Parking a bit tricky but we found a street space after a short wait.
Local residents savedbyjus mill. It is still working and mills flour. The annual Fete is an absolute treat. Morris dancers, coconut shy, bookstalls, bric a brac etc.It could be the 1800s...
Wonderful example of the dedication of the volunteers to preserve this fine monument to our milling history
The summer fete was lovely. All old style games, plant sale, raffle and Morris dancing too.
The mill has been lovingly restored by enthusiasts. Well worth a visit but check for opening times

Jolly intresting place run by lovely people. A great place for a coffee or am ice cream in the sun
A wonderful 17th windmill, in full working order. Very interesting to learn about on their open days.
Lovely day inexpensively price for all entrance food and drink. Good informed guided tour of the grounds.
We parked at the bottom of the gallops and walked up to the windmill, £1 each for adults and children were free, this included a guided tour of the windmill which was beautifully restored. Tea, cakes and ice lollies were £4 in total what a bargain 😋
Really interesting, the tour was very informative. You can buy locally milled wholemeal flour. Refreshments available, home made cakes, fudge and jam. Toilet facilities. Well worth a visit.
Lovely place, great views and some nice walks nearby
Volunteers run and restored this windmill from being sold off or left to rack and ruin.Beautiful old late 1700s post mill. By the most clever design it is able to be turned in to the wind by one person.£1 per adult entry kids free. Open 1st and 3rd Sundays each month. Starting I think from April to Sept (best to double check).Coloured free tickets to be able to enter the windmills different floors. As to limit the amount of people at one time. Usually more than one guide so quite quick. The guides are also very knowledgeable volunteers who help explain all the inner workings etc. And are more than welcome to answering any questions you may have.It is a great place to visit on a Sunday. There are also special event days during the year like book sale, classic cars and annual fair etc.
Fully working windmill run by knowledge volunteers. Regular open days with tours around the mill.
Great atmosphere at the craft fayre. Lots of local crafts, yummy cake and a beautiful windmill to discover.
not open very often..,..check before you visit though if you want to enter. you can see windmill well enough from the outside
Great afternoon out for.very little cost. They have regular open days in the summer as well as some special days (fete, car show, craft fair). The guided tours are very interesting and the home made cakes delicious.

A lovely restored windmill, that still works and is run by volunteers. They do tours and sell tea and cakes.
Excellent, lovely cake and tea at the tea shop and a short mini tour as our 3 year old wouldnt have lasted for the full 30 minute one!
