Steak and eggs where the bomb!!!!! Great breakfast but u better be ready to eat, tons of food
Breakfast included coffee $11.99 it was excellent and our server was friendly and very efficient. Food came out hot and fast my soft poached 👍
The cook desperately needs to learn how to actually cook vegetables, I ordered a hashbrown skillet, it’s like she threw the hashbrowns and mushrooms and other vegetables on the grill for (and I’m not exaggerating20-30 seconds. Mushrooms were still raw and pretty unappetizing with no colour on them, and the hasbrowns were mush because they had barely been cooked at all. When you serve big hearty chunk style hashbrowns like that, it’s extra gross when there’s no crispyness on them at all, might as well have served me mashed potatoes. If your going to charge a whopping 16-18 for a small portion like that I think I’m well within my rights to expect my vegetables to be cooked, and my goodness is the chef allergic to salt? Everything on my plate didn’t see a touch of salt, I shouldn’t have to be salting my food myself, it’s the chefs job to do that. When you sauté vegetables they need to stay on the grill until they pick up colour, and hasbrowns should be cooked separately from the other vegetables so they can get a deeper crust. I’ve been cooking skillets all my life and this is easily the worst one I’ve ever had in a restaurant, and I ate here like 2-3 years ago and had the same skillet recently and then and it was the same problem each time, I really hope you guys take this review to heart because that skillet you guys served me genuinely hurt my soul. That said you guys get a star for friendly service, clean bathroom, and the eggs were cooked perfectly.
Great food. Great service good prices.
Food was good when we were there the first couple times but then we tried to come 3 more times about 30-35 minutes before closing and were told that they were already closed. Really frustrating
So so homie and warm. Absolutely loved it, I wanna go back every year when I ce out on a trip. ❤️🔥
Tucked away, this ma & pa type restaurant had a huge menu. They have quite a bit of South Asian fare mixed in with your typical western Canadian fare. The prices were decent and it was clean. I had a breakfast benny dish and was so happy to see shredded hash browns on the menu... and the only downside was the sausages from my sons plate. They looked grey and pale. Surely they were cooked but not very tasty. Otherwise fast service, good food and decent prices.
One of the best breakfast spots in town. Love the folksy service.
Always great service, and excellent quality home made food.
Love this place, I come here for strictly breakfast for the last 7 months and today I decided to try the steak sandwich. I upgraded to a poutine instead of fries.Amazing service as always, amazing coffee. The steak was a tad hard to cut into but PERFECTLY cooked, the poutine was decent but some of the fries were on the undercooked side. But the majority of them were cooked so nothing to make a fuss over. I will most likely stick to their amazing breakfast but glad I tried something from the lunch menu!Definitely try them out if you haven’t already!
Been going here for years. Get there early or make a reservation because its always packed.
Basic diner food done well. Great service.
Staff are very knowledgeable and capable of taking the order efficiently and bringing out our food in a timely matter. Food is good. I really enjoyed the Chai 😊
Great food, great prices and great service! My favourite breakfast place!
Excellent food and service. Great soup. Lovecthecpkace
Service was nice and quick, friendly staff. Food was priced right, but lacking in seasoning.
Very good food! Would definitely come back when we are in the area!
The Hide-A-Way Omelette is full of veggies and meat that bring so much flavour. And they have marble-rye bread for toast!
Good people… good foodWill come againHopefully that cute Indian boy serves me again
Best deal on steak and eggs in town very nice steak size . And cooked perfectly...
Excellent food and service I go for breakfast sausage scramble
Great service, great prices and good diner food. Soups here are always delicious. Interestingly, the Butter Chicken is one of the best weve ever had.
Inexpensive, good food, good customer service. Not a 5 star restaurant, but they dont cost much at all.Always pretty happy with hideaway cafe.
A great intimate little place for delicious breakfasts and lunches. Consistently good tasting food and great service. Been coming here for years.
Great little restaurant. Would give 5 stars if it had AC instead of bunch of fans blowing
Food gets a 4 star - it was very good and the portions were a good size. The service gets between a 2-3 star as it wasnt very good - we didnt receive refills on water or coffee. The restaurant was not busy either so you would assume better service.
One of the best meals we had in Chilliwack. Food was hot ,cooked well service was efficient and friendly. Wish we had known about this when we first got here instead of our last day!
Awsome food!! Good prices!! Great little place, good atmosphere. It does get busy
The service was amazing and the food was great. Will be coming here more often. Definitely would recommend.
Amazing food and friendly service. Low key atmosphere
Ordered Indian food here for the first time in a while. I don’t know why I waited so long to come back!! Everything was so delicious as always. Chicken tikka, pakoras, butter chicken, chilli chicken. All fabulous! Best veggie pakoras I’ve ever had! I would give more stars if I could. Thank you Hide Away Cafe!
Ordered the mushroom burger with onion rings, service was fast, courteous and the food was far better than other places Ive tried, such as burger shack. Handsome portions the burger was huge and the onion rings plentiful! Paid $11 for a fantastic meal 🥰
Food is always amazing. Service could be better, there is one particular server who I always get that doesnt seem to understand the meaning of customer service. But the menu is great, the prices are reasonable. Truly a hidden gem within the sardis community
The reviews are accurate: this is a real jewel in Victoria and should not be missed if you enjoy authentic Greek food. The staff are attentive and Mama Maria overseas the kitchen with an eye on quality and taste. Nice sized portions for the money, lively music, and a great crowd. We were there on a Thursday and it was crowded (reservations recommended). Looking forward to our next visit to Victoria so we can return to this restaurant.
Lovely! Id always heard that this place was very good, but never had a chance to eat here due to living on the other side of town. Its a pity they close at 2:30 or Id have been here before. The food was delicious and the atmosphere is very nice. It has a casual feel and very friendly
Its not flamboyant or trendy. Service is great, popular with locals and the prices are very reasonable. Their focus is breakfast. It opens early and closes at 230pm. Whenever Im visiting Chilliwack, I always go here for breakfast.
Food was decent, prices were alright, but the service was lacking. Not a smile the entire time. No hello, no thank you for the 25% tip I left. Nothing. We felt almost like we were more of an inconvenience to them.
Ok we didn’t wait to take a pic when we got our meals, too good to wait!My son had 2 pancakes and a side of bacon and I had the two egg breakfast with bacon, shredded hash browns and toast. The pancakes were fluffy, the eggs were served Sunnyside up with the yokes runny and the whites fully cooked. The bacon was thick pieces and cooked to perfection. There was only one server with 10 tables but she handled it like a veteran server. With coffee the bill car in under $20. I have been here before and will definitely come again. Value & good food =👍
This place serves up awesome food at reasonable prices. Sometimes the East Indian chef isnt in but you can still get the staples like butter chicken, naan, and navratan mixed veggies. Portions are good and always tasty. They even make good western breakfasts - huge fluffy pancakes and thick crispy bacon. Yum! Highly recommend to try it out though a warning that its usually very busy around noon (11 am to 1 pm). Eat in or order to go, either way is good.
The food is great and the server was very attentive!
2019 .. 16th Feb 10:45 am.We drove out from Langley and decided to have breakie here.Small place and very busy.15 min wait for breakie. Thats normal because its so busy here.Breakie came and Looks good.Food was Luke warm.Coffee missed that Columbia taste and aroma.Eggs were steamed not cooked over easy. Bread was not toasted because it did not crunch it pulled apart.Plain quality sausage. The potatoes would have been good if warm and hairless. Yup. We found a few hairs in the potatoes. Made our wait person aware of it.Grace took one breakfast off our bill with an apolagy. This was our 1st experience here.We always give 3 chances. Always.👫 M n K.
The food is decent, but the waitress seems miserable. Not sure if she just hates children or makes all humans feel like they are a complete inconvenience to her. Not only will she not greet you upon arrival, but if you take the time to say "Have a nice day," she probably wont even reply. BUZZKILL.
Not fancy but reliably consistent. Great for breakfast which is served until closing time at 3pm.Child-size breakfast options are appreciated.Indian food is a good alternative lunch option, although their sandwiches 🥪 are good too.Warning: can get very busy on weekends.
Enjoyed some good omelette and my friend some spicy chicken. Was a good experience, friendly staff.
Ill eat here because my in laws eat here... They do have good Indian food ill give them that. Their other food is average, what you would get at any dinky cafe. Now my problem is the service...Ive only seen the one lady and shes actually terrible at her job... Now dont get me wrong, some people lover her. I personally cant stand her-you can be the judge on that one ahaha. Oh a d another good thing is the prices are not outlandish
This place is almost always busy, and so as some other reviewers have stated, sometimes it can awhile to get your meal. If you are in a hurry, this might not be the place for you. They serve a wide variety of food from breakfast, to burgers, and East Indian cuisine. All of it is excellent, and I suggest the omelettes and veggie pakoras. It would be nice if they were open later on weekends for those lazy afternoons. The Hideaway is great little hole in the wall cafe. No frills, no gimmicks...just great food, good portions, fair prices, and friendly service.
The food is consistently delicious! The service is always friendly! Usually I go here for breakfast, but have dabbled in the curry a bit.. BEST curry in town!
Service and breakfast food was great! Ive been told the Indian food here is really good. Will have to return to try it.
Went here for Breakfast today. It was busy so i wont hold the long wait for our order against them. Ordered the Fisherman breakfast. Eggs were good. Sausage was good. Perogies were absolutely disgusting and not even warm. Their pan fried potatoes were also disgusting.
Having some amazing food and great service !👍👍Fisherman breakfastBLT & Soup
