Hibachi Box in Richmond

This shop came out of nowhere years ago and has been my staple "celebration" eat spot since. Good news? Hibachi box. New job? Hibachi box. It never disappoints thats for sure. I love pretty far away from this spot, way west end, but Im always willing to make the drive for the amazing box of food they throw my way. 100000/10 please eat here

Mad fast, always good! This is a great spot. No seating but easy to grab and go. Lots of great options to choose from!

My last time going here… I’m still trying to wrap my head around how a nut ended up in my food!!! UNACCEPTABLE!!!

The portions at Hibachi Box are quite generous! Im glad they give you the option of both rice and noodles in your platter. Usually at other restaurants I would want a little of both, but have pay extra. The Shrimp and steak are cooked well and are tasty for a quick bite to eat. Im not a fan of the ginger dressing for the salad, but its okay. Not sure whats missing in it. All that being said, its a great place to eat and I will be here again.

Decided to retry after years since my last visit. (Read till the end.I ordered AND paid on the kiosk and waited inside for my food. They have a wide open window from the kitchen facing the customer area, so I went to grab the food after my buzzer went off. When trying to grab my food, the woman behind the window said I need to get it from the cashier, and they quickly exchanged my box of food. I obliged and went to the register.Before saying anything else, the cashier asks “card or cash?” I had my receipt in hand and was confused as to what the point of the kiosk is if I still had to go to the register. I said “I paid already..” and the cashier sharply replied “the system is showing it’s unpaid.” I raised my receipt saying “this shows that I just paid.” Without apologizing or saying literally anything else to me, she grabs her supervisor who asks for my receipt to verify the charge. No apology or anything, everyone was pretty short and barely even gave eye contact. Mistakes happen so I would have understood the payment issue, if anyone showed an ounce of customer service. l grab my bag and take the food home, dismissing that weird interaction.After taking off the lid and fishing through the food a bit, I see a long strand of hair in my food. It was obvious that it wasn’t mine. $15 wasted and appetite ruined. I found the whole encounter to be odd and won’t be returning.

Food was hot and cooked to order. I had the steak which is surprisingly tender. Alot of food for the price. Will definitely eat here again. Please note carryout only

Used to order from here all the time, now the require a 30 dollar min when you want to get something delivered. Must be 30 bucks before their delivery fees and taxes.

Delicious! Lots of noodles and rice in the box. Delicious chicken with savory dipping sauces. Good deal for the money!

Solid portion size shores up the price. Simple, hearty Asian-American style. Each box contains rice and noodles and comes with a little salad.Ordering kiosks make it easy to customize the plain box. Sauce and add-on selection is fair.Chances are there’ll be leftovers. I could even share a single box with someone else and be satisfied.

Used to be somewhat affordable, they have raised prices twice since I started eating here a year ago. Foods fine, not worth what they charge.

Fees are really expensive and had to order extra sauces just to meet delivery requirements. Got food and sauces were missing. Tried to call but there is only an automated message than call us disconnected. Poor service

I am never disappointed with the Hibachi full of flavor and very affordable. The only downside is the parking. It is hard to find a good parking spot downtown.

Hibachi box is my favorite go-to spot for Asian cuisine takeout that is a bit more premium than one’s traditional takeout. Their ordering process is simplified and easy and I have not had a bad experience to date. While it’s within a college campus area, it’s worth the venture.

Amazing outcomes time and time again , experienced customer service. Good price for the amount you receive. If this place was a tiny bit closer I would be a regular ❤️

Welp idk about the BAD REVIEWS because I been here three times this week ! They are always nice and happy here ! I love the salad dressing so i literally go just for the salad … it’s iceberg lettuce which obviously isn’t for everyone but i don’t mind it especially because that GINGER SALAD DRESSING IS BOMB! Prices are decent especially considering the area ! I don’t like thick cut salmon so there’s is perfect everything is good to me ! And it’s never dry always saucy which i love ❤️ I’ll keep coming here the staff recognizes me and always is good to me !! For the people complaining I’m not sure why ! Only thing I’d say is there not on door dash or Uber eats but there only 6 mins from my home so it’s cool lol !

Its always been a great place! Unfortunately we do not go as much anymore since they took out the inside dining, now its to go only. When we live on the other side of the city, its just not as enjoyable to drive 25-30 minutes to pickup food, then to drive all that back home. Please look into bring dine-in back.

Very good food for the price! The gyozas were absolutely delicious, along with their shrimp hibachi. The rice could use a little more flavor, but other than that it was awesome! Can’t wait to come back.

Great place to go for those hungry as the portions are large. The wait is also not long since they have only have one menu item with small variations with protein.

Some of the worst sushi Ive ever had. A California roll that bad should not be almost $8.. also $8 for 8 pieces of sushi, is a bit ridiculous.

Big portions. The chili sauce is hot! If you cannot handle heat do not ask for it. The salad is a little skimpy but I did not care because the hibachi itself was filling which can serve 2. I Would go back. Parking is challenging so you may have to park somewhere to get the food.

Absolutely horrible! Used to love this place. Today we purchased two meals. One with shrimp and one with Salmon. My two pieces of flat salmon were dry and unflavorful. The veggies portion was drastically lacking. I normally get flavourful rice. Today white rice and noodle with 0 taste. I threw it in the trash. Oh and heres a pic of the salads they put in the bag. Never again! I dont know who is cooking and managing but I wouldnt be shocked if this place disappears in the near future.

Its not terrible but its not the best. The portion size is big. Also order a bread if you can, it can get a little busy. Staff is nice, waiting area is clean.

Very upset , drove all the way from Chester to downtown Richmond to eat here ( love the food just to get home and have the wrong order in my boxes. Then you cant call the store there not even allowing you to call up there. Very disappointment payed extra for steak and got a veggie and a chicken box .

The new renovation is amazing. They have streamlined the ordering process and kept up the high quality of the food. They have a ton of options and you are able to add and subtract things from your hibachi as you wish. The prices are good and the staff works hard to make sure you get the highest quality food.

Use to be my go-to before Corona and I use to recommend to my Uber passengers. No more. I get frustrated because you cant order over the phone. So you have to pull over and try to use the app which isnt always efficient if you driving. I walked in because my brother wanted to know what was in the sauces. I was accosted by music selections all yelling the N and P words. As an AA woman I told cashier I wasnt enjoying the use of N word while conducting business. He looked too afraid to tell the united nations staff in the kitchen. I ordered something with eggs got chells or something not edible in my dish. I thought I was going to take them off my list because its a pain that they dont answer when you are driving and cant pull over to order through the app. Thanks so much for giving me a plethora of reasons.

I placed a order inside on 4/29/2021 for a vegetable box and chicken on the side. The chicken was over cooked , dry and tough. My vegetables were burnt, overcooked and the sauce was burnt and salty. I will never visit during busy hours they are rushing to meet customer demand and not concern with the display or outcome of the food. Very DISAPPOINTED and I will share my experience with my family and friends. I threw the meal in trash!!! went to bed hungry☹️😡🤬

This place is one of my favorite. I have never been disappointed. Food always hot and on point!!! When I want hibachi to go this is my only place .. I hate the parking though so hard to find a spot especially in rush hour .. but no complaints whatsoever with the food and service !!

Got delivery with my friend and we both got steak hibachi boxes with noodles and rice, and OMG I am obsessed! My friend has had it before and recommended I try it, and it did not disappoint. The delivery was super fast too.. I will definitely be ordering from here again, food was hot, tasty, and the portions are out of control for the price!!!

My food arrived over an hour late and was delivered with two sauces spilled all over our food. Completely unacceptable. I will never order from here again.

Ordered for delivery around 5:10 pm. Estimated delivery time of 6 PM. Its not 7:15 and no word on my food. As another reviewer mentioned, calling the number they give just states that they are only doing orders online and has no option to actually talk to anyone. I submitted a ticket through their online support, but havent gotten anything in my email yet. Do not order for delivery through the website or app. Its better to order for pickup, because at the very least if something is wrong you have some one to contact about it.Update: Ive received a response to the support ticket stating that their system is having issues and that my food would be out asap. Its now 8:45 pm and havent gotten any updates. Order status just sits at "processing". The charge already processed through my bank. I responded to the ticket asking to cancel the order and just get a refund. Will not be ordering from here again.

Ive ordered from Hibachi Box for years now, and while not every order can be absolutely perfect, this restaurant cares a lot about their customers and I really respect them for it. In particular, when I experienced an issue with my order, the restaurant cared to offer to fix it for me on their own volition, which really speaks to the quality of the customer service of the restaurant.On top of that, the food is great and flavorful and has a lot of combinations for customizing your order so that you can find what you like. The delivery times are also quite reasonable.One edit to this review, I do find the lack of an actual contact phone number to be somewhat of questionable choice, but the Support button on their webpage (which isnt actually a "live chat" buttonis actually more responsive than youd expect as long as you submit your support request during their open hours.

While they are not dine in anymore the food is still quality. Though the proportions may not be as great as they used to be it is still delicous and they are very fast with ordered. I have never needed to wait when I ordered 15 minutes ahead. Pick up is also very quick and easy. I enjoy ordering here.

edit: I got a call at 9:30 from the restaurant offering to refund me the money and to offer me lunch for the following day. I went in and got my order. changing from 1 star to 4 stars. you still can’t physically call and talk to someone and I wasn’t given any sauces. still, it was nice of them to buy me lunch, which tasted amazing.it would be nice to be able to talk to a real person and not be referred to their app—Placed an order thru their online service, which is totally fine. However, my estimated delivery time was 7:52 and it is now 9:10 and still nothing. There’s no way to contact the restaurant, as calling their number refers you online, and then the confirmation email refers you to a “online chat service” you cannot reach. I understand being busy, but I can’t understand lack of communication. Will be showing up in person for a refund tomorrow- which is inconvenient

I honestly don’t like giving a lot of places 5 stars but this restaurant well deserves it. I have never really heard of fast food hibachi styled food before so the concept of it all is interesting. They have a well diverse menu with many options for a reasonable price but the thing that puts this place over the top for me is its constant efficient customer service. I have lived around this restaurant for almost a year now and have frequented it many times and I am never dissatisfied, never disappointed, and never feeling like my money was wasted. They did a wonderful job adapting when the pandemic first started and it seems like they are constantly evolving on how they do business. Definitely recommend to anybody for at least the one time.

This is the worst Japanese Resturaunt ever. I’ve tried them three times and needless to say it is not up to my standard. I had the shrimp once and it was over cooked and dry. I decided to try Salmon. I don’t know what the heck that meat was but it was not salmon. The mystery meat was dry. I had it delivered to my job and the first person the delivery person saw asked of it was their food. The peons said no and they left. You can’t call the restaurant and had to drive there. Food not good. Don’t waste your money or time.

Well, if I couldve avoided the clean up on aisle one, I wouldve been able to provide a picture of my Vegetable Hibachi. This is how they packed my food. I would definitely suggest taking the time to make sure the tops are secure on the sauces before packing; especially since there is an additional cost for extra sauces. The food was good.

This is my favorite meal to get from here. So delicious and fresh veggies.

I ordered a veggie hibachi box and replaced both my salad and my noodles with fried rice. I work in Richmond but live in South Chesterfield and sat in traffic for over an hour today just to get home to find my order is wrong. I ordered online and I am 100% certain I made the modifications to my order to substitute for fried rice. Their phone is disconnected at the moment and after emailing, they feel they were not in the wrong and refuse to reimburse me. I didn’t even eat the food. I believe their website malfunctioned and they don’t want to take responsibility. Maybe it could also be helpful to have the option of reviewing your order after entering payment to ensure it is accurate, just a suggestion. Waste of $15. I will not be coming back

They have consistently provided excellent service and food to myself and my work group. I have orders at least 10 boxes from them every time I put together lunch orders, and the only issue Ive ever had was missing one or two dipping sauces.The food has been wonderful every time as well. Dont let the price get you, you will be getting a LOT of well prepared food to ensure youre money is well spent.

I ordered food from here and I want to start by saying the customer service is horrible. I spiked to a woman named Dana who claimed she was the manager, her customer service sucks. The chicken wasn’t done. The salad was brown and when I asked for my money back or even a new order she said no. The food comes with sauce already mixed in there but they should tell people prior to ordering. I’m never ordering from here again. Do not eat here!Update: At lease the lemonade is good

Great hibachi twist! Each box come with salad, rice, protein, vegetables, and noodles. You can sub out any items and add extra protein like shrimp & steak. They also have 5 different sauces, my husband and I really like the spicy ginger:)

Great Food. Always taste amazing and hot. The perfect spot to fix your cravings. Sauces are flavorful. Comes with Protein, rice, vegetables, and noodles. Mushrooms are optional and delicious. Meats come tossed in sauce but two dipping sauce come with each meal. Perfect for cravings and nice lunch. Takes a little longer Id looking for quick bite but everything is fresh. Ordering online makes food come very quickly.

I Placed an order for delivery. I ask for light rice and extra veggies. My box had rice filled up to the brim of the bowl. When I was ordering the guy on the phone acted as if my order was so difficult to fulfill. I called once I received my food and asked to speak to a manager he said his name was Andrew and he was the manager. He later said he was the assistant manager after I asked to speak to his boss. He then told me the only way I could get a refund or my food was to send a picture. I sent the picture three times and he said he didn’t receive it. He was very uncompromising and had bad customer service skills. I literally ordered food at least twice a week from the place because the food is good. But sometimes when customer service is horrible it makes you not want to eat at the place anymore no matter how good the food is. I will no longer order from them again.

This place is in desperate need of a good cleaning. Noticed the light fixtures while I was eating and it spoiled my meal. This is an easy task for staff to do daily.

Great restaurant overall. The food was absolutely phenomenal and they give you so much food for the price. The average meal is about $10. Minus one star because the tables were not cleaned. Nothing against the food. Im definitely coming back.

The food tastes great. We ordered the chicken hibachi. The yum yum sauce is on point and a must. The salads were fresh with typical dressing. Our favorite hibachi here in Richmond so far!

I love this spot. I make my own creation. I get the salmon Hibachi, add chicken, add extra veggies (zucchini & onions served over fried rice and Noodles. Dont forget the fresh made in house sauces. I get the GINGER! also cones with a salad! Everything fresh. Good to go...
