Hiawatha RV Park - Caravan Park in West Kelowna, Canada
Absolutely terrible. Security guy thinks hes Robocop. Wanders around in the middle of the night into your campsite shining a flashlight in you eyes for talking quietly after 10 with no yelling and no music. Rules are 3 pages long, and the pool doesnt open until 11 am. Could have stayed in a motel for the same price pretty much. Front desk staff are very nice though. There were empty sites while there was a music festival and baseball tournament in town at the same time. That should tell the story right there.
First impressions of Hiawatha are real good so far. Staff is friendly, location is close to the beach. Pool and hot tub.Update, after staying here for a week. Camp spots are a bit tight, but for a private in town location its sufficient. The closest beach nearby is not a swimming beach but for man powered watercraft. If you are swimming here just make way for small craft. Lots of restaurants in walking distance. Will definitely visit again next year. Five star for a private campground.
What a great stop in kelowna! Hiawatha was an awesome stay on our travels. Very close to the beach, walking/bike paths and playgrounds for kiddos. The pool and laundry services were open with extra cleaning and precautions with covid. Staff were all super friendly and during our stay saw staff cleaning common areas multiple times. Highly recommend 😁
Wonderful RV resort with great amenities and staff. Our family had an awesome vacation.
nice campground. great lots for short term section, but not for long term section. prices are high.
If you arent watching for it you wont even realize you drove right past it. Its a good size park cramped in between a condo building and a mobile home park. There are lots of trees for shade though. Tenting and RV sites with electricity. There is an on-site pool with washrooms, changerooms and showers. Right across the street is Rotary beach. There are a few restaurants, a bar and a pub nearby. Pandosy village is also nearby, but maybe a 15 minute walk or so.
Stayed for just one night but definitely plan to go back. Nicely appointed RV park and campground. Plenty of space between sites. Easy to maneuver trailer ( but its small too). Nice hot tub and pool with showers and bathrooms. Shopping areas nearby but not right outside the Park. Close to beaches and public areas. Well worth the visit.
Great campground and staff! Recommend, I been coming here for 3 years.
It was a very clean park, and easyto get to. I. Would have rated it higher if they had allowed dogs on a leash. 😔
Total not expecting what it was. Its an RV park in almost the city center but is off the street, well shaded and actually pretty nice. The staff were awesome, I mean every one of them I dealt with was great, the sites both RV and tent were cleaned and raked every time someone left. No issues with power or water, pool was great, clean and cool and the beach was less than 5 mins walking. If there was one detraction from the park it was that its tight spacing and if you have a larger trailer it would be tough although i suck at trailers...lol
Stayed in a full service site. Free Wi-Fi is a huge bonus! Nice sized pool and hot tub, clean bathrooms and friendly staff. Across the street from rotary park and beach.
Very clean well kept RV park. Sites are level, wifi is good ( you can borrow a router if you are not happy with the wifiand the park is in a great location to explore Kelowna. Some sites are close together but the positives outweigh any negatives.
Friendly staff. Nice pool. Clean washrooms.Moet stands are, however, very very small. Its not easy to sit outside with an RV and 4 people.
Beautiful campground just across the street from the lake and beach. Very friendly staff and a ton of amenities. Some sites are small but still large enough to enjoy some R&R while parking a 23 trailer and tow vehicle on it. This was my first time at this site, but I will be back for sure!Pool area, hot tub and showers were clean and well groomed, entire park was kept nice and tidy! Evening security helped feel safe and secure and was pleasant to talk to and deal with.
Laundy service with WLAN, shower and toilets are clean, swimming pool with hot water. Everything good.
This was a very cute, clean and comfortable place to tent. Loved that there is a pool and hot tub to use and its just across the street from the beach! We would definitely go back.
Only spend one night but it was excellent all the way around well be back!
I do love this campground. Its clean, the facilities are great. The showers are hot and free, they have a nice pool, and its right across from a fantastic down town kelowna beach. The staff are all great, and they have security at night. There is no fires allowed, and its weirdly library quiet by 11 p.m. That is a + or a - depending on who you ask. Although it is my favorite place to stay, $60/night is a steep camping fee. But to be fair, camping down town kelowna in the summer is amazing and well worth it.
It is a nice place to camp but the 2000s called, they would like their slow and paid wifi back.If we have to pay for wifi you should at least offer a speed worth paying for.
I wanted to thank you for a very pleasant stay. My children really enjoyed the pool and I found the rv park to be very clean and pleasant during the day. However I feel that I need to bring the behaviour of the night guard to your attention! On July 3rd at approximately 11pm we were sitting around the propane fire chatting and listening to music. We were speaking in hushed tone as my three smaller children were sleeping only steps from where we were seated and the music was barely even noticeable. My in law laughed out loud for a brief moment... it wasn’t anymore than a “Ha” at which point, a man who did not reveal his position with the park appeared between our vehicles and pointed at her saying” did you sign a contract?” We were dumbfounded as his aggressive tone was not needed nor appreciated. He then pointed at me and asked the same question. My son was apologizing and telling him we would keep it down and the man stormed off.Last night was my second encounter with this individual security guard. Approximately 10:45 pm I was playing glow in the dark botchy with a neighbour and his son. Other than the sound of the balls rolling and flip flops we were not making sound... all of which was droned out but the happy chatting of other campers. A fellow camper that I have not met before, came out of the bathroom and saw the glowing balls, he proceeded to enquirer what we were playing. we were talking to him very quietly when the same security guard approached us and told us that we couldn’t play anymore and we had to back to our sites. The man from the bathroom told him he was sorry and that we were only talking and the security guard very disturbingly told him to “SHUT UP and get back to his site” ! I was completely shocked as our behaviour did not constitute this sort of reaction. I reminded the guard that the man was a paying tenet and he was extremely out of line speaking to him like that. The guard stared at me angrily and said “fine I’ll write you both up” and proceeded to storm off.I replayed “go ahead, your acting very unprofessional” the guard then turned around and began rushing towards me in an aggressive manner. I came down here with my family and three small daughters without the protection of my husband, to visit my only aunt who had terminal cancer. Which is stressful enough! The way the guard cane at me I was concerned for my safety, but I stepped in front of the fellow camper so he wouldn’t attach him and started once again “ your behaviour is extremely unprofessional and you need to calm down, we’re not doing anything that would constitute you swearing at him” the guard stood close enough to my face that I could smell his breath.Although we found your tv park to be pleasant I feel that I need to bring this behaviour to the parks attention. After I was back at my site the guard had a woman employee walk around the site with him and his behaviour changed, but I have several witnesses to his unconstitutional aggressive behaviour.Something needs to be done!Sent from my iPhone
ok but not that good. We were quoted $62.45 over the phone for their last site with hook ups. When we got there to register, we were charged $72.45.
The supervisor was like a sister to me! Clean little campsite within walking/biking distance of pandosy. Nice little pool and hot tub and just across the street from the beach.
Nice clean, well run RV park, pretty expensive for a slightly wider spot. Close to beach and shopping etc.
campsites a little small, visitors cant park inside the campground have to park at nearest hotel. only one car per site.
Great place ,quiet , well kept clean Friendly and a pool and laundromat and WiFi ... And close to the resorts restaurants pub coffeehouse and the lake...a d not to far shoppping
The lovely lady that checked us in was great, very nice and friendly. But due to unforeseen circumstances we needed to check out after only 4 nights. (The job my husband was doing did not work outAll the refund policies that they have on line and on the paperwork they give us says "a full refund on remaining nights minus $10 a night on remaining nights" which I felt was reasonable. But when we went to tell them we needed to leave early the other lady with long hair said no refund. So 4 nights was going to cost me $850 plus a $100 deposit. The deposit I was told was for the cost of electricity we used, and they will only deduct what they got charged and we would be refunded what was left of the $100. Again they kept the deposit and there is no way we used $100 in electricity in 4 nights. The playground is good for toddlers not kids over 4 years old, but the beach is closes with a great playground. But do keep in mind you have to cross a busy road, that people dont like to stop even with flashing lights. I was almost hit on 3 different occasions because drivers where in a hurry. The grouds are clean aswell as the bathrooms.
Nice big tent sites, great pool, awesome staff!
Nice rv place with swimming pool and little store close. This is a gate close at night and its secure and quiet but some spot ve no power.
Showers are about as clean as city pool showers. Tent sites are decently sized, but RV ones looked crowded
Great park. Close to everything. Very friendly and and clean. Sites are very close. Try to get the "C" sites. They are bigger
Great place for camping. Has a swimming pool and great staff.
Really small space for rvs. Less privacy and have to pay for wifi! Washrooms arent the greatest.
Great RV park. Located in an urban area but gives you the "camping feel when you are in the RV park.Staff were amazing and very accommodating. We had an issue with a wasp nest and it was dealt with right away by the staff and they offered us a secondary spot for the 1 day to avoid any lingering issues with wasps.Washroom, shower and other facilities (the outdoor poolwere well maintained and clean.Im not sure what the other people are complaining about. I read the reviews before going there and we had no choice but to book this place due to a late booking, but everything went great. The staff were very polite, friendly, informative and accommodating for us.If I have to travel to Kelowna for camping or RVing, Im definitely going back there. The wifi is ok and can be better.
Beautiful location. Sites are good and great outdoor pool area.Bathrooms adequate but need an update.
Clean and a good location. Friendly staff to help you out. Most people come here are good people and easy to make friends
Free wifi, shower and swimming pool. clean washroom. Be aware the mosquitoes. The nearby road was very noise on the summer Saturday night when we stayed there.
It is located directly on Lakeshore drive with a lot of traffic noise until late since it is in a growing part of town. The pool was clean and the electric service was good, potable water was not available (boil order for drinkingsince the Lake is at record high levels, I didnt dare put it into my trailer system. No price adjustment for this - it is way over priced and the picnic table was rotten in some boards. The RV spaces are very small and we could barely fit our 28 trailer. Go somewhere else - try the WalMart parking lot its better than this place.
This is a lovely campground & RV park, right across the road (and a little downfrom the lake shore. The only criticism is that in summer, it gets really full & the washrooms struggle to cope. A minor inconvenience, for a fantastic park. Back for the second time.
Fantastic spot, across from the beach. Walking distance to stores, dining niggtspots, wildlife, and privacy rught inside the city.
This campground is close to the lake, it is across the road. It is right in the city! There is a beach and playground in walking distance.
We stayed here summer 2016 and it was awesome; the staff was very friendly and helpful, it was clean, wasnt loud in evenings, the kids loved the pool, and we can not wait for our reservation this summer!!! I know some of the sites are narrow, but just like with most campgrounds you need to plan a head and book immediately to get the good spots.
I have come to this campground on and off for the last 7 years with my family and 36ft motorhome with 3 slides; and guess what, it fits in the site and we have room to sit around the table. Some of the older posts that mention *dirty bathrooms* I can say is no longer the case. The bathrooms got a nice makeover a few years ago and they have been perfectly clean every time my family has used them. Yes, the staff is firm on the policies, because most people who come here want it to be quiet, safe and clean - that means the bathrooms need to be closed in order to be cleaned and the quiet hours need to be enforced. If you honestly want to complain about the staff enforcing policies that are clearly posted on their website, and that they take the time to review with you upon checking-in, then I say to you - WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS CAMPGROUND. This place is busy in the summer, so let the people who WANT to be here come. I know a lot of families that come here often as well, and some years they cant get a reservation because it is too busy. So please, go somewhere else if you want to be party all night or complain about clean bathrooms. Thanks! We are already planning our 2017 trip here.
We love this place. A hidden gem, hardly feels like u r in a city. Clean bathrooms and showers, pool, hot tub, sinks to wash your dishes, tall trees for shade. Perfect for those who like peace and quiet. Its pricier that Willow Creek but because of that u dont get the shady people here. This is so much better. We bring our bicycles, ride into town for some beers and food, or walk to the beach right from camp. The best of Kelowna right here, without the pricey accommodations, and hassle free. Make sure u drive over to summerhill and St hubertus wineries while in this area. We come every year. Enjoy!PS non-service tent site is $40+tax, no pets, family place. Theres also a little playground.
stayed here two nights and I have to say out of all the campgrounds Ive stayed at this is by far the worst one ! i would never recommend this place to anyone and here is why ... Lets start off with the moment you get there and go pay they have a squeaky voice girl that sits there and goes through each and every rule of the campground one by one in the most monotone voice as if we cant read the paper ourselves and then the camp sites are so small your practically sitting in your neighbours site and every single thing you do is monitored by the staff to the point we moved our vehicle off to the side while we were setting up and squeaky voice girl came and gave us crap within a matter of 5 minutes ! And if you stay here make sure to set your alarm so you wake up before they start cleaning the washrooms because once they start no one is aloud in until they are done they dont care if there is a line up standing there doing the pee dance all they say is "sorry there closed for cleaning you just have to wait" and last but not least everytime you go to the office its closed and even if there is someone sitting in the office and the door is locked they just use there fingers to tell you how many more minutes and to come back when its convenient for them ! The only way this place stays in business is the location ! SAVE YOUR MONEY GO CAMP SOMEWHERE ELSE !
This is a quaint little campground. Been coming here for 8 years and have rarely had any complaints. Lots of these reviews complain about having little space but thats what happens when you have a huge motor home or reserve last minute! We have stayed in a tent and a tent trailer and have always had a ton of space in whichever site we are in. The pool is great and never really gets too busy which the kids love. We have appreciated the friendly and helpful staff over the years and are looking forward to our next trip this summer!
Kelowna’s Goldmine Of Duck Waste. If we were back in pioneering days and you were prospecting for duck faeces, Haiwatha would be your sure bet.Like most good reviews, we camped here on short notice, truly sampling what the site had to offer. We pitched our tent on a mixture of Kelowna dust, duck excrement and infant urine, which possessed a sawdust like texture when inhaled. You could snort lines of it before a night out and probably get high.Whilst being in a great location, we all know camping in an urban centre never pays off. The main payoff’s are the increased interest on your credit card, and the lack of sleep from children crying at 6.30 in the morning. For just a tent, the rate was extremely expensive. The showers were fairly decent if not memorable. My mind is awash with memories of fairly unremarkable showers. My positive of the experience was the excitable girl manning the office desk. Her manner could only be described as vigorous, but intensely professional, and intent on sorting you the best patch of duck faece dust in the compound. All said and done, Hiawatha; out for a duck.
Too pricey for what you get. Nice location but spots are so tiny. Cant open awning, no privacy....
We decided to stay there last minute and there wasnt much available in Kelowna and the site was the worst we ever stayed in, very close to neighbours, loud (even though they have security they didnt do muchand was very over priced. $70 for one night and they added on $1 for a child under 12, not sure what the point was. Terrible customer service, very rude. I tried to access the bathroom between a cleaning hour and they kicked me out in the middle of my shower and told me to read my sheet that was given to me when I checked in. The pool area was dirty, bring flip flops if you plan on walking on the pool deck or in the showers. Would never stay again.
Staff was rude and unhelpful with a take it or leave it attitude! Also posted prices wherent the actual prices.Ill never stay there again!!
I should of read the reviews about this places before going there. People arent wrong about this places. Horrible experience, the most disrespectful staffs with no customer service. They have no common sense about how to treat customers.+ Washrooms are dirty the creek next to them smells. If you are reading this go to bear creek camp ground or Orchara. Cheers.
