Neat place to visit to see some beautiful Victorian homes from Los Angeles and the Los Angeles area that were saved from being demolished. They have fun events there too; Halloween and ghosty stuff.

Loved looking at old houses they were so old but so beautiful. Some built in the 1800s but mostly early 1900s. If you want the tour would need to buy online. I would definitely recommend this place especially if you like architecture and old things.

A nice collection of old buildings. We missed the tours and walked around on our own. Unfortunately they have curtains in the windows that make it very hard to see in. It would be nice if you miss the tour to at least be able to look in the windows.

An interesting facility with a number of historic houses (and a few replicas). Parking is on the street or in an unimproved dirt area along the road. Can be a little hard to find.

Definitely call ahead of time before going which we didn’t go. We went on a weekend day and it was not busy at all but they claim all inside the home tours were sold out. Then the person selling tickets onto the property told us we could look inside the windows if we wanted. Not very friendly at all and overrated.

I took the guided tour that takes you inside 4 of the original Victorian houses. Inside is very beautifully decorated with period correct furniture and numerous other bits. Like books, paintings, chandeliers, and wood stoves. It really takes you back to 19th century when youre inside.I was really surprised how small everything is compared to modern layouts of houses. Heritage square museum has the most luxury house on display then a midrange house and a average house from the Victorian era. So you can really see the difference.Theres also a farm house on display that was originally in Pasadena on a orange 🍊 farm, its in the shape of a octagon for better ventilation. And a reproduction of a drug store that was full of everything youd imagine to see in a pharmacy a 100 years ago.The tour was really nice, it was a group of 10 and I strongly recommend purchasing tickets for it in advance. Like I almost had to wait until the 3 oclock tour lol but then a really nice lady that came to visit helped me out and I was able to get in at 12.Its well worth the $18.60 for the inside tour too bad no pictures inside but they did have free parking at the end of the culdesac... A small gravel lot.

Amazing little square with antique homes of all styles from the late 1800s early 1900s. There’s exotic flowers. There’s tour guides. There’s iron workers that offer classes. You can sit on the grass and have a picnic. You can also take your dog. There’s trays and hoses for water. The only trick is parking. You may have to park far and walk a bit. It’s free one Sunday out of the month.

Its a nice place to visit but I guess I find it weird that they charge you at all considering that when I lived in Pennsylvania houses like this you can just casually walk into as part of heritage projects but I guess out here since properties are torn down left right and center they have to find a way to keep it going. Also perhaps the location when it was first picked was much nicer but to be honest the surrounding area is not particularly cute.

The Heritage square museum has Old Victorian homes that were saved from demolition. This location has one of the most complete compound pharmacies on the West Coast, and a great experience on Halloween! Also word has it, some of the houses are haunted.

We had a lovely intimate tour of a few of the homes. It was only $10 per person. Well worth the $$ and I’d you have the time I highly recommend it. Parking here can be tight but they have a dirt lot adjacent to the entrance you park in. Be prepared for the narrow street as you approach, it can only accommodate 1 cars width at a time.

Heritage Square is a place that more people should know about. They put care into preserving a little bit of Los Angeles history by saving and restoring these beautiful homes and buildings. After coming here for years to watch movies outdoors, picnic on the grass, dance, sing Christmas Carols and do the spooky ghost tours during Halloween, me and my partner finally got married at the very place we love. It was excellent and cannot recommend it enough ♥️💒

Get Your Ghost On In The Octagon!Even though no one is allowed to go inside the beautiful victorian homes while were still in the middle of a pandemic; youre able to walk around, video, and take photos via a phone flat on the window or out and about the museum grounds. Ive always wanted to go to the Heritage Square Museum and we finally got our weekend up in LA. I love LA; it has the most amazing interactive museums, cemeteries with peacocks and movie nights, and just so much open history that you can walk through and touch; its one of a kind. The Octagon house is so so active, I wouldnt say hes bad; but, hes a handful and loves attention. I got him on video and on photos. When I asked him to open the door and say hi; he sure did; and he also moved the basket on the table. Youre able to see them on my attached photos. I put the closed door and the open door together on one picture with a time and gps stamp so that youll see its in proper timing. Ive also got his shadow floating about the wall of the next room which has no other windows than the one I was taping from.If youre looking for a ghostly adventure; hes ready and waiting for you in the Octagon! And, if youre looking to see the beauty and talent of LAs past; youre in for an overwhelming treat with the most amazing volunteers and staff.Thank you again, and, again; Heritage Square Museum.

On a late Saturday afternoon, getting lost to get back on the 110 freeway, me and my fiance had stumbled upon this gem in the city. Now, its not an amusement park or some elaborate place of entertainment. However, it was better than that. This was a historical small village where they preserved some of the older houses from the early and late 1800s. The staff was friendly and the houses were amazing. It really brought out the time period and for the homes to be the actual building is a bonus. Because of the pandemic, you cant tour inside the homes. My favorite building is the church. The drug store in the back was the only building that did not really fit in with the whole heritage village vibe. The admission price was only $7 and that was a steal. this is a great place to hang out, take a lunch or picnic with your friends or family or just take time out of the busy hustle and relax. Overall, I recommend this place. Not only can you get some great photos but you can also learn a lot about the time period of early Los angeles.

Right now (August 2020the visiting is limited to the outside of the buildings but the $7 admission included a great guided tour which made me want to go back and see the interiors. There is a self guided option as well with an informative brochure, but we really enjoyed Kittys insight. This place really deserves backup and support as they protect these beautiful buildings and keep the history of Los Angeles alive. And we loved meeting the museum cat and chickens and wandering their heirloom garden!

Stepping through those gates brought me back in time. If you love architecture, history or have a medical/pharmaceutical background- you’ll enjoy a tour at the Heritage Square Museum. I had the pleasure of a taking a tour by myself back in February. I wish that I could remember the tour man’s name, he made the tour so enjoyable. Give yourself at least 3 hours to enjoy the grounds, tour and gift shop. There aren’t any steps so its a nice tour for people of all ages.Don’t miss the adorable garden. All of the staff were very pleasant and welcoming!

A unique experience only available in Los Angeles. Our tour guide provided interesting stories about the historic homes and the families that lived in them. A must-see is the replica of an old-time drug store complete with authentic products. The park-like setting made the day even more enjoyable.

Theres a rich history of Los Angeles which often gets ignored or forgotten. But sites like this one, is a precious gemstones that reminds locals or visitors that theres much to be explored. Some of these houses date nearly a century and a half ago, they remain one of the earliest examples or a brief reminder of some of the lifestyles that these residents had in Southern California. Pay this site a visit, it doesnt matter if youre a history lover or a person with a curious mind. A place for the young and old alike, could gain something valuable.

Such great history saved and restored. The houses are historic gems and Im so glad theyre saved from demolition. The docent we had was super knowledgeable and engaging. She told our group how people in the Victorian area lived and how much they valued privacy with separate rooms up greet guests. A must do for any history buff or visitor to LA who wants to see what life was like here in the past.

A nice living history museum with 9 historic buildings and an impressive little orchard that allows you to take a look at the life of the upper middle class at the close of the 19th Century. The picturesque Hale House is a gas/electric hybrid meaning they had the gas lighting fixtures right next to the electrical ones for when the latter was failing. The 8 sides of Octagon House with its windows on all sides and the "3rd floor" provide optimal air circulation and natural lighting, minimizing heating and cooling expenses while making the most of the floorplan. The Ford House features extensive wood carvings done by hand by the prolific wood carver and home owner John J. Ford. Then there is the Colonial Drug Store displaying the original pharmaceutical and botanical raw materials in the original containers (over 80000 itemswith the soda fountain where youd meet and socialize while waiting for your drug to be handmade for you.

What a true gem tucked away in Los Angeles. I stumbled upon this place after living in LA for decades! What a shame more people dont know about it. So much history! One of the only round houses left. They have so many offers for donated historic houses but no money to move them. Parking is easy in their dedicated lot. Their rates are great to get to visit a hidden tourist attraction that locals & tourists alike can appreciate. Highly recommend!

I was impressed by the beauty of the original Victorian houses, as well as by all the details inside of them. You really see a piece of history here. Our guide Katherine was great. Very knowledgeable, entertaining and passionate about the living and culture of our ancestors. We spend 2,5h there and it totally exceeded our expectations. I visited the Heritage Square museum for the first time when I attended the 13th Annual Vintage Fashion Show. Right off the 110 freeway, its not a large park, but I found the site interesting, especially the Victorian drugstore display. Fashion show was fun and costumes were wonderful. The event was $30 including light refreshments and admission.Regular admission to the museum/park is $20 and a bit pricey, but its a small non profit. Good venue to visit for Victorian era buffs and local California history.
