Herdmanston Lodge in Georgetown
Description
The staff at Herdmanston Lodge,Security Wallace, Mr. Paul, Mr. Kevin, Ms. Sharon and Damon the manager, were all amazing! They were kind, friendly and hospitable!
MoreI Had A Pleasant Time First Time Coming To Guyana. Security Wallace Paul & Kevin & Housekeeping Sharon Was Very Helpful and Kind And Made Me Feel Well At Home. I Would Definitely Come Again.
MoreStayed at the Aspire, Marriot and Herdmanston Lodge over the duration of a month stay. Of the 3 this was by far the best for; Guyanese culture, friendly and attentive staff and safety.Fiona, Wallace, Paul and Kevin made the stay memorable indeed.
MoreHerdmanston gives you a taste of true Guyanese hospitality at its finest. My room was very comfortable and the staff was amazing. Additionally, the food is excellent. For me, from my driver Steven to Harry (who keeps the property grounds looking immaculate each day)...all staff members will remember and address you by your name. They will check also make sure youre enjoying your stay to the max! Many thanks to Sharon (who kept my room cleaned each day), Susan (a waitress who was most helpful in the dining room), Suzanne (the hotels dining room manager), Paul (who assisted with my luggage both on arrival and departure), Christopher H. and Wallace (who both work in security), among many others who truly helped me one evening when I misplaced my glasses. I was away from my home for 9 days, but felt each employee trying each day to embrace me with that "at home feeling" and Im thankful. Now, although Im unable to name everyone at the hotel that helped to make my stay great, Im hopeful those missed by name understand how much I enjoyed my stay and how grateful I am for their wonderful assistance. I highly recommend this hotel to others traveling to Guyana.
MoreI came here on business and my stay was a pleasant one, during my three weeks stay I was constantly greeted by the pleasant staffs there, I requested early breakfast and the securities, Wallace and Kevin made sure I was well taken care of, will definitely be back.
MoreSecurity Staff were very professional and courteous- shout out to Kevin, Wallace, and Paul. (I forgot the names of the others). They were all very personable and always willing to assist. Always a smile on their faces. Harry was very professional also. The kitchen staff was very kind and friendly also. Their smiles were contagious. The breakfast buffet trays were always empty when we got down for breakfast. When this was brought to their attention, in no time they were replenished. Highly recommended..
MoreLoved this quiet, quaint little paradise. The grounds were beautiful as were the rooms. The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. This made the stay more pleasurable and enjoyable. Thanks to everyone from the restaurants, the front desk, the staff and especially to security guards Paul, Wallace, and Kevin for making me feel comfortable and happy. Will definitely be visiting again!
MoreThe place is nice and quiet and the staff is great.
Management and the entire staff provided excellent service during my stay .Special thanks to Susan, Wallace, Paul, Haley and Kevin for their outstanding service
MoreLimited experience, but very good service, beautiful ambience.
The quiet neighborhood, and the helpful staff, Thank you Paul. Will definitely return next year 👍
MoreThe staff was very helpful and accommodating. The manager of the restaurant, Damon, provided great service. The food was tasty, and the room was clean. All the staff, Haley, Paul, Kevin, and Wallace, provided great service and I was pleased so I enjoyed my week-long stay.
MoreStayed just one night, but it was perfect as usual.
Shady ethics in the office. Fraudulently runs your credit when you return home.
My family reserved dinner for restaurant week in June 2022, which was horrendous.Firstly, 3 utensils were given instead of 4. We waited an hour to be told 2 items on the menu were sold out. 2 servings of the fish were raw and a stone was in the duchess potato. All of the entrées were unseasoned. The portions of the meals were also small.Lastly and most, unfortunately, one of the servers (racistlymocked us before we left. The only commendable things are the supervisor was friendly, and the appetisers and desserts were ok.I dont know how the restaurant usually is but I would not go again.
MoreWhat an ordeal! When I was booking this place from New York, I was really looking forward to the stay. The pictures and the reviews looked promising. But once we arrived, it quickly turned into one of the worst places Ive stayed in a really long time. The room we were assigned was nice. It looked comfortable and had a balcony. However, upon entering the room, there was a gecko/lizard crawling in the tray with the glasses and water near the microwave and coffee station in the room. It was quite alarming to see the sight! Upon request, we were able to switch to the next room which was made available as there was no one to clear the reptile from the room in the evening. I was reluctant to stay at the lodge but there was nowhere else to go that night. Anyway, once that issue was resolved, a series of others ensued. While the morning restaurant staff was mildly friendly. The late afternoon/evening restaurant staff services were abysmal. They charged us $170 a night, more than some big-name hotels in Georgetown but when we asked for simple things to be served from the restaurant, the room services responses were baffling. When asked for green tea bags that they were serving for morning breakfast in the evening for room service, the response was they dont have them. When asked for icecream for the room service, they said it was in the deep freezer so they couldnt serve it. The boiling point was when we requested two plates from a server/room service person named Ezekiel to our room, which was on the first floor, a flight of stairs up from the restaurant and he invoked "Jesus Christ" and asked if someone could come down to the restaurant and take it. When we requested that the plates be sent to our room, no one showed up for half an hour and we went down and got them. It hurts to be at a place where youre spending your hard-earned income and receiving such third-grade shoddy service. The restaurant staffs callousness and behavior toward the customers are mind-boggling!There seems to be a shortage of decent accommodation in Georgetown, especially with the oil boom and influx of business people at the moment but if I could Id stay clear of this specific lodge. The breakfast included is average, again service isnt that great. Id say service is slow like some other reviewers, but it was pretty much nonexistent in our case.
MoreBeautiful atmosphere, courteous employees 👌 ❤️, spacious rooms.
Nice, quiet and clean. Decent amenities...internet works well. Service is good.
Helpful and friendly staff. Damon and the waiting staff were brilliant. Tasty food on offer. A few things to improve, include the room service...serve the wine WITH wine glasses, open the bottles of beer and stock the fridge in the room. All in all, a good hotel with welcoming staff.
MoreIm staying here for one night and for the price you pay...its not a 5 star hotel or anything close to it, but its better I guess then the average place here... the service is good, food is nice and the bedrooms are comfortable also. Then again the price is very high for one night...
MoreBest five days spent at a hotel! The staff kept me well fed and comfortable. Shout out to Damion, Odessa, Suzanna, Kevin and others. Keep smiling, you are the best.
MoreEvery one was very friendly especially Miss Anile she is very soft spoken and kind and me feel welcome.i hope to come again
MoreAlways a go-to when I visit Guyana. I love that it is black-owned, the food is delish and the staff is very pleasant.
MoreMyself and now husband had the best stay the night before our wedding and few days after.Omg our stay most peacefulThe staff were helpful, understanding and pleasant from reception to security food was immaculate. Thanks s much for a memorable experience.
MoreThis is a great hotel/lodge. I enjoyed my stay here. I stayed a few nights and it was really good. Super clean and well serviced. The staff was great & the customer service was really impressive. The staff were super welcoming and friendly. They provided everything we needed. Breakfast was good, and it was included with the stay. Parking is available but its very limited. The hotel is super safe, so no need to be scared.
MoreRelatively clean and excellent customer service. When we were travelling we did our PCR covid test to return to Canada with Eureka Labs. They were ignoring our phone calls and we were likely to miss our flight due to the labs inability to deliver our results in time. The concierge by the name of Stanford was able to pull some strings and contacted someone at the lab directly. He was able to get our results processed just in time to make our flight. Stanford was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through Georgetown for his services alone.
MoreService was slow and the food was at best okay tonight. However the sorrel ice cream was super delicious. I ordered the vegetarian meal and it was cold. However the service was pleasant and the coffee hot and delightful.
MoreBuffet is good. Places both indoor and outdoor were one can relax in comfort and enjoy the evening quietly.
MoreHad to stay for 3 nights and it was:- comfortable for two (recommend upgrading to Executive Queen for the fee and stay in the newer building)- staff were top notch (room service sometimes forgets the room numbers - stay on top of them - its guyana)- breakfast , lunch and dinner were all great options- Grounds were well maintained- staff were all courteous (front desk Lisa, guards and all supporting staff)- cleaning everyday included- complimentary breakfast- walked to national park on sunday morning around 8am(does take about 15 - 20 mins at a leasurely pace)- be careful walking on the roads alone - it is a questionable neighbourhood in some parts- taxi service available- overall i had a comfortable stay.
MoreStayed 3 days ago. This hotel was the worst hotel Ive stayed in. The first day I got there the toilet had dry stool. The television does not work. The manager comes to work late every day never available. The place is not worth the money. I would have been better off staying in a one star hotel. Bed sheets were dirty. Walls in the room had big cracks and fixtures in the bathroom were falling off. The water in the shower come out two drops at a time. This was my worst experience ever I would never recommend this hotel. Oh and no elevator 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎 this hotel deserve 0 stars. Badddddddd
MoreTravelling during Covid, this was a safe place to be. Vaccination cards required, and sanitizer station at gate and several other locations. The rooms were very nice and spacious. The reception staff especially Loretta and Melissa went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and assisted in getting our tours and airport transportation taken care of. Harry the gardener gave our first impression of how the staff here goes above and beyond when we asked for a piece of sugar cane. We were greeted with smiles everyday. Great location, grounds well kept. Wed stay here again. Some of the older building bathrooms could be improved.
MoreSuch a lovely location for photoshoots. Did my birthday photoshoot there, cannot cannot complain about my pictures. A reservation is much needed prior to attending though. Vaccination cards and ID cards are required for entry.
MoreThe staff were all excellent. Loretta was very helpful. Orlis was very knowledgeable of the hotel. Melissa would always greet you with a smile. The security guard Kevin, nick, Paul and Wallace were all helpful.
MoreMy husband and I had the privilege of staying at the Herdmanston Lodge for 3 months while my husband was working in Georgetown on a fibre optics project at the seawall. I can’t say enough about the hospitality we received during our stay there. The manager Keith and his wife Edna, even took us out on a tour of the city and we’re always very helpful if we had any questions. Their son, Simba was always available to assist us if Keith and Edna weren’t around. The food, OMG!!! - of all restaurants that we ate at in Georgetown (and there were plenty in 3 months), none ever surpassed the delicious meals prepared at the Herdmanston. Thank you to Miss Tina, Miss Bona, Miss Lisa and Miss Clarice for feeding us and introducing us to the finest Indian and African dishes that we simply couldn’t get enough of! Misses Loretta, Melissa, Crystal and Shannon at the front desk went out of their way to offer advice and bookings for tours we wanted to go on in the area. Our room was always immaculate, thanks to the attention to detail provided by the house keeping group which included the two Miss Sharon’s and Miss Jewell. Harry, the groundskeeper became someone we befriended. He kept the grounds in pristine shape and always with a big grin on his face whilst whistling away. He truly was a ray of sunshine that greeted us each morning 😊. The wait staff became like family during our extended stay. We will forever be grateful to Luke, Shack, Addis, Damon and Misses Suzanne, Odessa, Aquila and Steffianne for their prompt service, insightful conversations and complete devotion to the comfort of their guests. Our safety was never a worry as Nicholas and Paul always had their eye out for us and happily greeted us each time we came through the gates. If you ever have the good fortune to visit the lovely city of Georgetown we highly recommend you stay at the Herdmanston Lodge. Because of our fabulous accommodations, the friendly, helpful and happy people that work at the Herdmanston Lodge, Guyana will forever hold a very special place in our hearts. We miss you all and will never forget any of you. Not a day goes by that we don’t think of you and conjure up a few pleasant memories of Guyana that makes our hearts happy. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts 🥰
MoreSo glad that I chose this place to stay. Staff went above and beyond to make us very comfortable. I am a frequent traveler and the all inclusive breakfast was the best I’ve ever experienced. The environment was pleasant and I can’t wait to return. I highly recommend it
MoreBeautiful PRIVATE hotel. Wasnt sure what to expect when I left Ramada Princess to check-in here. But the truth is that I LOVE THIS PLACE. Clean rooms with well crafted fittings, great food and friendly staff. Much more the location is close to everywhere in Georgetown. Am here on business trip and will comfortably stay here for full 19days. SEE PHOTO OF MY ROOM ATTACHED
MoreExcellent hotel in a create location that is quite and safe. The hotel is extremely clean and comfortable. The staff Daymond, Shaquille, Ms. Susan, and Luke were humble, respectful, serviceable, and caring. They went as far as calling up to rooms to ensure that you got breakfast for the day. Would definitely recommend this hotel its a true example of hospitality.
MoreThis is indeed a great hotel for an affordable price. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. Meals are excellent and multicultural.Staff are courteous and friendly. This was indeed a home away from home. Melissa at the front desk was hospitable and professional.
MoreI would highly recommend staying a the Herdmanston Lodge. Its in a great location, the breeze never stops. The hotel is well maintained, the staff are friendly (especially Susana from the restaurant and Melissa at the front desk, very attentiveand the price is very reasonable, you definitely get more for your dollar spent.Shout out to Simba, hes part of the great management team.
MoreNice, pleasant hotel! Careful of what room you are assigned! Restaurant service is awful while the kitchen is tasty and nicely prepared! What a shame.
MoreDefinitely ‘the place to stay while in Guyana’. Herdmanston was home away from home for us at a most difficult time over Christmas and New Year 20, after an arduous journey to Guyana for a funeral.Easy access to key places, quiet enjoyment (location is great); real home cooking (they are blessed with superb chefs, each with their own specialisms); modern, comfortable, spacious accommodation; and a superb team for whom no ask was too great .... are the reasons for this unreserved recondition, with thanks and pride from the Proctor family.
MoreI have stayed at the amazing boutique hotel before and have always enjoyed my stay but my recent stay was special .In the middle of COVIT19 HARDSHIPS this hotel maintained its commitment to high standards . It started at the front desk with Mellisa and continued to the gate where i was greeted with great enthusiasm and professionalism by the bell hop .One night i returned to the hotel after 10 pm and felt like eating something . I called to the front desk who woke up the onsite chef to make me a meal of my choice , thanks Tina.i was slightly disappointed with the food the last time , i am happy to report the food is back to it s amazing taste and quality . The pepperpot deserves special mention
MoreRooms are either in old hotel or new hotel. Old hotel rooms are nice to look at, but no screen on windows. wer from shower leaked into hotel reception. Hot water.......what hot water? Food......hmmmm extremely bad.....first night had room service. IT was so bad. Then next morning before going to h2o in bartica, I went to get breakfast, not good at all. Positive note, very pleasant and nice staff, they are a 10 out 10. Right from security to food staff. Very nice people!!!
MoreI love this place. Very clean and decor is comparable to international standards. Security guard, receptionist, housekeeping, and restaurant staff are all very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again.
MoreIf you are considering hosting an event here, don’t think twice! This establishment is well maintained and the aesthetics of the rooms are to die for. However, the grave dissatisfaction stems from the conduction of business. I recently hosted my wedding here, in which I planned a year in advance. But not to my surprise, a week before the wedding options that were previously discussed in the contract such as plated service were now changed to buffet style. I expressed these concerns to Keith (CEOto discuss further options, he showed no remorse and had a condescending attitude. He stated this is it and that he will not make any accommodations even though the error was their own. To make matters worst, the day of my wedding Keith had the audacity to tell the DJ to play the music at a lower level. In short so many things went wrong due to the CEO and lack of communication in the contract we signed a year prior. If I had known the particulars, I would not have chosen this space for my special day. Not a chance! Any who, It’s all over. My advice to Keith is to consider your paying guests first and as an international hotel your customer service standards are seriously lacking.
MoreGood hotel, friendly staff, good restaurant. I enjoyed the old part which give me the feeling of the past. Good atmosphere.
MoreAn absolutely lovely little place to stay, thats so close to everything in Georgetown. The new building is very nice, but Im in love with old wooden houses, so the older building stole my heart. Housekeeping and maintainence is fantastic, because keeping an old wooden house in such a good condition is difficult work! Will definitely be back here more often.
MoreI recently stayed at the HerdmanstonLodge for one week. I had a great timemy room was very cozy, clean, spacious and comfortable. The restaurant had a wide range of dishes reflecting Guyana’s diversity. I had breakfast and dinner everyday, which was very tasty and delicious. The fantastic richness of local fruit juices GOOD PRODUCTS OF GUYANA 🇬🇾The staff was very friendly and gave excellent service.I’ll recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit Guyana. Thanks to Mr. Williams and staff for a pleasant and relaxing stay.
MoreThis is a mix of a old colonial building with a new structure. Nice gardens, comfortable rooms but a slow service. Good for an uncompromising stay. The restaurant is very slow in serving. The bar has very limited offers.A good simple hotel but not my top recommendation in Georgetown. It is quite off of the bitten path and you will need a cab to move around town. The staff is friendly but not up to the task.
MoreFrom Mr. and Mrs. Khan,We recently stayed at the Herdmanston Lodge for a week and had a great experience. Our room was clean and very beautiful. We had a lovely breakfast every morning with food that was cooked fresh. We recommend this hotel to anyone planning on visiting Guyana. We fully intend on going back with our family. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.
