Henna Art Cafe - Moroccan restaurant in Marrakech, Morocco
Henna Art Cafe in Marrakech
Description
Privilege
My girlfriend got henna there and it was outstanding sweet people to
Really recommend this cafe. I got a small henna design on my arm - there are so many to choose from and you can tell the ladies are highly experienced. All Henna designs are at a fixed price so you can avoid the more stressful negotiating experience we were told to avoid in the square. We then had a light lunch of hummus and salads, which was tasty. Very fair prices with such friendly service. Really recommend.
MoreCool place. Get a drink and get your henna tattoo done at the same time.Prices are fair and Henna is 100% natural...so no itchy skin later.I recommend the ice chai if you like the taste.
MoreI thought the food was amazing and the price great. I loved the vegan tajine. Highly recommend. Other vegan options as well. I paid 70dh for a vegan tajine with a big bottle of water. The VEGGIE tanjine was so tasty, full of flavour, definitely above my expectations. The staff was very friendly. A note, to pay with a card they charge a fee. I am quite used to just use my card but it seems everything is in cash in Marrakesh, so not necessarily a downside but something to note. #vegan #veganfriendly #nabati #vegetarian
MoreWe went twice there. We loved the food, the drink, the henna and the place. Good prices too. If we ever go again to Marrakech this place will be our to go place for food.
MoreReally nice and welcoming staff, we we’re able to relax on the cafe terrace while we chose our designs and have a cold drink. The designs were really beautiful and the prices fair.
MorePeaceful temporary tattoo parlor in the hustle and bustle of Marrakesh. Dont be conned by the ladies in the square. This is better quality and a lot lower price.
MoreWaste of money - I got a henna tattoo which at the beginning looked so nice, but once the henna came off it was barely visible. I followed all instructions the gave me so I’m pretty sure it’s just the products they use that are not good. Don’t waste your money here.
MoreWe ordered the hummus and couscous. Honestly, the food wasn’t very good. The staff was pretty nice, though. The henna art was beautiful, but my henna didn’t even last a full week though even though I kept it on for 8 hours and didn’t get it wet for 24+, so that was a bit disappointing.
MoreRead the reviews and heard that they serve good food. Went the first time for some food, found it quite expensive for what had been served. I Was still hungry afterwards. The meatballs in the tajine werent fully cooked. So went a second time to get some henna. They say it lasts 1-2 weeks, but after 2 days my henna already started fading.Friendly personnel, but quality isnt that good.
MoreVery nice and precise drawing but this is the result after less then 5 days from application...almost gone
MoreHard to find, bit of a walk but so worth it . Lovely ladies, fair prices, stunning work with 60 years experience, my henna design is still on and its over 1 week already
MoreChilled environment with 2 small roof terraces. Reasonably priced and very delicious food, make for a great lunch.
MoreSuper lokation ,super food and the personal is also super every thing is nice here and good adresse for a good time!
MoreI had the hummus, cous cous and a black coffee which was all vegan. The service was good and everything came quickly. The food was good and I will be going again 👍
MoreYou can get a nice tattoo while you have a tea or a juice. The artists are really good at their job and make an incredible tattoos
MoreVery nice designs for a good price! Ive had the henna on the back of my hand for 1.5 weeks already and it still looks great! Their food is also good, and the people are very nice :)
MoreI would definitely take the time to come here for a small snack and henna design. First go and get the henna then enjoy the snack afterwards so your hand can dry. Staff are great and there are so many designs to choose from and at a fair cost.
MorePrices are good as is service but the food was average. Had a salad and cous cous but it was nowhere near the level that Ive had it elsewhere across Morocco.
Morecosy place, tasty food.perfect for a small lunch break.
Food was delicious but small portions. One dish would only be a light lunch or snack so a bit overpriced. Service was not great. We had a hard time ordering as we could not find the waiter. We almost left since it was taking too long.
MoreOne of our favorites of our short time in Marrakech. Cheap and high quality food/drinks, many options, and everything comes with bread and olives free. Nice dining terrace.
MoreVery welcoming team of staff, and enjoyed the experience! Great selection of designs to choose from and certainly more peace of mind in the materials being used than selecting a random seller on the street. A heater is used to dry the henna initially so you don’t have to worry about walking around and accidentally smudging the artwork. Good selection of food and drink too, as well as a small gift shop to browse.
MoreLoved my time at the Henna Art Cafe. Laurie was so welcoming and made me feel right at home. The artist (Nadiawas fantastic and really efficent! Really happy with my tattoo. Its a great space which is decorated beautifully. Definitely worth a visit.
MoreOf the (manyrestaurants we visited during our time in Marrakech - this one was my favourite. Mohammed, our waiter, was friendly and engaging and the food was absolutely outstanding! Incredible value for money in a vegetarian-friendly and ethical venue. Check it out.
MoreMy husband and I both had the Berber burritos. They were good, but not great. Maybe I just prefer a traditional Mexican burrito. Still it was good, filling and decently priced. One thing this restaurant does really well though is their menus! Menus came in English, French and Spanish and came clearly marked with vegetarian, and gluten free labels as well as allergy warnings. I wish all restaurants did this. It would make orders easier!
MoreLovely cafe in the midst of the media. The lady owner was very very talkative and friendly. My partner was able to sit up on the roof terrace, read a book and have tea while I had henna. We didnt eat, but the food looked and smelt lovely. Best henna Ive had by far, and staff wouldnt let you leave until it was fully dry. Better than the people in the markets by far!
MoreWhat a phenomenal experience! This cafe is run by a lovely woman and her henna artists are so kind. They did a special request piece for me and I couldnt me happier with how it turned out. I also loved knowing how safe it was.
MoreAmazing café!! You must make this a destination if you want Henna or just a cozy atmosphere with great food and drinks. We fully enjoyed our time here and the owner gave us terrific advice for other places to go for the rest of our stay. Highly recommend!!
MoreThis hidden place in the middle of the medina is amazing. We took seat in the terrace which has a very good atmosphere. Ordered turkey tajine which was delicious. One of the best tajine we ate in Marrakesh. 🙂 Their mint tea is also nice. If you are in Marocco you have to try these things. 😉 Price value is also very nice here. Its worth to visit
MoreGreat place for a short stop to drink sth refreshing or eat sth traditional at the open air terrace. They also serve gluten free and vegan options. Friendly staff, very informative menu in 3 languages and of course a henna workshop on the first floor, where one can get a very impressive henna tattoo at a reasonable price!
MoreThis place is very near the city center! The food was okay, the chicken avocado wrap was good. But the moroccan crepe was kinda disappointed cuz its basically just the wrap of the chicken... kinda disappointing. The drinks were nice! Would recommend the smoothie (mixed fruits)
MoreBest place for you to do an henna tatto. Dont do it on the square you could get a really bad allergie to the products that they use. Believe me. Ive made a lot of research first and it was by far the best choice I ever made.
MoreLots of henna designs to choose from (over 100).Lori (owneris incredibly welcoming and makes you feel comfortable and explains everything so you know whats going on. The henna artists are incredibly talented. The place serves food and drinks and has WiFi while you wait. My design was 127.The henna is 100% natural and for anyone who worries about allergies, I have extremely sensitive skin, psoriasis and react to many chemicals. I had no reaction to this henna, no itchiness, no swelling and no redness- which all happened the last time when I got poor quality henna done in America.
MoreGood food and fun environment. Pretty good vegan options. The falafel sandwich was dry but tasty (I got it with tahini instead of tsatziki so it would be vegan). Tried Tirshi (hot pumpkin starterfor the first time and really liked it. The bananas amlou was a really nice dessert too. Overall great experience and worth a visit. Very reasonable prices too.
MoreThe falafel sandwich was incredible and very filling, and I had the henna (you choose your design from a book, it shows the prices and they’re fixed - absolutely worth it the lady was very very talentedwhich I’m really happy with. Some girls walked in as I was having it and they regretted theirs from the henna ghetto in the center.Much better quality and great experience!
MoreBerber Omelette is very special! By far one of our favorite local dishes that’s not easy to find around the Médina. Chicken couscous was ok, maybe the one with veggies is better? Berber burrito was a huge portion and very satisfying. Overall very good food.
MoreExcellent cafe serving traditional Moroccan dishes and other alternatives too which include vegetarian and vegan options. The staff are super friendly, the service is excellent and you’ll find unique art pieces too. Also the ladies who do the henna tattoos have very high standards and work really fast...
MoreA beautiful Restaurant and henna tattooing parlor. Full of art!!! The food was good but didnt feel traditional enough, it was good anyways. Very nice experience overall! They have vegeterian and vegan options. We recommend the avocado boats! Delicious!
MoreWhat a lovely find! The American owner will make you feel super comfortable whilst the artist will create the best designs. Food and coffee are great too! Gem!
MoreDelicious food, fantastic warm welcoming service and exquisite artisan henna work. I visited this cafe twice during my visit to the city. The upper patio/outdoor area is a great place to get off the ground level and enjoy some delicious food. I cant say enough about the service here - its clear that there is a strong customer service priority. The souvenirs are very delightful as well. The henna work is great, there is a bit of a reservation system so make sure you book in advance if you have some time constraints to deal with.
MoreGood food, beautiful terrace, and friendly staff! Henna artist was patient as the co-owner and I discussed which design I wanted(was trying to combine two different designs). The artist, (forgot her nameeven went off on her own creative streak and added another beautiful design! Wonderful atmosphere and creative art all around this cozy cafe!
MoreZahir an English literature scholar loves Thomas Hardy, Chaucer etc and is by far too fabulous a waiter. His recommendation included avocado toast, pumpkin soup which was delicious....the henna artists use pure natural henna only and are very friendly.Great place for a healthy lunch on a roof top terrace
MoreAmazing little place that we stumbled upon by chance and we are so glad we did! We had a delicious lunch which was great quality and the very skilled henna artist did my hand for 150dhs. The lovely American lady there who owned the cafe sells amazing art which is a collaboration of her own works with the henna artists works combined. Definitely recommend you go along for lunch and some henna, a much nicer and calmer experience that the henna artists on the square.
MoreWow this little place is stunning, and the Art work that fills the place is incredible. You can sit and have something to eat or drink in the cafe/retaurant area. I got a Natural Henna Tattoo done here that lasted about 10 days with amazing detailed artwork with skill and precision. My henna tattoo was beautiful you can see the super quality of it in my pictures. I really enjoyed my visit here. Thank you to the henna cafe staff for looking after me on my visit.
MoreThis cafe is located near jemma, it is a bit tricky to find but you will get there if you are already familiar with the "streets" of marrakech. The inside is cozy and pretty decorated with henna art. The terrace, although its small, if you get the chance of being seated outside you will see it is wonderful and very private. They offer quite a lot of local dishes as well as other more "europeanised" and modern plates. The price is fair as the food is pretty good and enjoyable! We really liked the bathroom art! It is not the place to enjoy real marrakech cuisine, but you will not regret it if you give it a try! Make sure to ask for the daily specials as they do not appear on the menu! Kefta was amazing, and the lentils were also very yummy! VEGAN, VEGETARIAN PLUS +
MoreExperienced the henna and Cafe and both were lovely. We had our three children (10,9,7yrswith us and the host was very friendly and accommodating. The food was very flavourful with a Moroccan take on some American dishes as well. We ordered three different dishes and everything was delicious and well priced. Also very good portion size( if wed been up to it we could have easily shared a plate between two.)The women doing the henna were very kind and had no problem fixing up our 7yr olds when she accidentally rubbed some off during the drying time. Theyll even do scorpions and snakes for boys. The prices were good and up front-no haggling! Around 50-75dh each for the ones we chose. Also, the owner is great. Shes an American expat and was so kind answering a few questions for us as we tried to get our bearings on our first day in Morocco.
MorePlace is very nice and quite, here you can relax from the busy streets of Marrakech. They have many vegan options. Which are very good but could need some extra spice for my task.Staff is helpful and friendly.I heard only good things from the henna art you can get here. Unfortunately we was there when no henna artist was around.
MoreJust did henna here. Ladies were friendly, they can do the henna pretty fast and then you wait awhile for it to dry. Prices are between $5-$30+ depending on what you’re getting.
MoreNice typical marrocan food at a fair price. The dishes are small, but half of the price you will be paying to eat at the Plaza. They have interesting options for those who are tired of eating tajine, couscous and kefta. And for vegetarians as well. The fruit smoothie is suitable drink choice for the marrocan weather, as well as the non alchoolic mojito. Can be easily reached by foot, beeing located only 2 min away from the Plaza.
