Hellenic Club in the City in Canberra

Service wasn’t the best, took ages to receive the food. You’d expect starters to come out first not with all the mains. The food was good though.

Very disappointing experience overall.Booking of 30 guests - booking was "forgotten" about, so it was a scramble for staff to get our table together upon our arrival. Tables werent even wiped down, very sticky and obvious drink rings left from previous patrons.The bar smelt strongly of old beer, and could see alot of yeast build up on the bar trays, so obviously a poorly taken care of venue & bar.We got main meals before our entrees, and the table numbers were taken off the tables after the first meal was delivered, leaving the poor wait staff walking around clueless wondering where they were supposed to be delivering the rest of the meals. Some meals came out with frozen vegetables on the plate, some came out wrong all together. My meal personally was wonderful, (halloumi gyroshowever others waited over an hour for a "medium" steak which came out well done and was needed to be sent back. No checks were done on our meals throughout our duration at the venue, and by the time we left the tables were still filled with dirty plates.The smoking area had empty glasses stacked up everywhere. The gaming room was left in a poor state, chairs untucked all over the place and glasses next to every machine - no gaming attendant in sight.We received friendly service from the presentable young girls behind the bar, and some of our group received refunds for their "meals" but the experience was very poor as a whole. Staff need better training, a higher understanding of RSA (spirits were over poured and no IDs were asked forand general cleanliness of a restaurant. Very poor management - doesnt matter how well you dress to come to work if you cant even teach - or at least encourage - your staff how to clear & clean a table.The live entertainment were great, very talented duo, created a good atmosphere, unfortunately we know they are their own talent, and did not help to make a good impression on the venue. Id recommend that duo to find a better venue to perform at because they can do a hell of a lot better.

Apparently Wednesday night is schnitzel night. $15. Various toppings.

Went there on my lunch break today.good atmosphere nice pub.I was very eager to eat a chicken parmi.so I ordered the $15 one .very disappointed.salad was wilted hip was bits of chips not a whole length.very tiny bits and it was refried and served you can see by the look of it.I got a photo.so does that mean when you ordered a parmi lunch special you get wilted salad , refried half pieces of chips that left over in the serving bowl.the chicken tasted like pork and had a smell .I seriously thought the chef gave me a pork parmi .called the bar person to check but he confirmed it was chicken .it looked far away from being a chicken piece and the smell was funny and the look was dry and different colour from a fresh pice of chicken .I have taken a photo of the chips and chicken parmi .got my money back but if they want to attract lunch ppl again they need to change their game .it was a very unpleasant experience compared to when I walked in .vey disappointing .

Just a great spot to drop in for lunch with a friend or two, good club food and good service.

was there for lunch and ordered the scotch fillet medium rare but it was cooked over well done and so dry. for $34 that was a bit dissapointing. there wasnt a big rush of customers either or this wouldve been understandable.

Very disappointed. I booked a table for SOR3 more than a fortnight ago. The girl on reception asked me which table I would like and we discussed a specific low, long table in the centre of the room. I was told this wasnt a problem. I phoned at lunchtime on the day to confirm - yep, all good I was told. I arrive and weve been put on a high table at the back of the room right next to the bar. NOT happy. Whats the point in booking early and ringing to confirm. We wont book here again.

Venue is good but Kens trivia makes it five stars

Disinterested staff in both bar and bistro on a Saturday afternoon. Bones in Chicken wings still frozen 😳 and I’m sure the salad was from a supermarket packet. Has lost the menu, atmosphere and friendly professionalism of pre COVID visits.

Ordered the flathead. The fish portion size was tiny, 3 very small pieces. Looked more fitting for a childs meal.

Food and drinks were great, reasonably priced.Staff were pleasant and friendly.I didnt get to see everything the club had to offer, just there for a family reunion and food, so it was great.Only problem we encountered was parking, there was none attached to the club and very little in the surrounding streets. Be aware of this if you are driving here, otherwise, well worth a visit.

Limited menu, food was not the greatest. Squid had string through each one, Parma was deep fried no no kids menu!Kids loved the big spinning wheel though

I went for lunch yesterday with few my friends and we had ordered schnitzel ,steak and few items from lunch specials food wasn’t good at all snitzchel was over cooked dry steak was like a Charcole and rubbery curry has no meat only veg and liquid and lot spicy and salty also I have to wait 45 minutes for food.Chips was so dry salad has only leaves and carrots , I wasn’t happy at all with the food ,also veg was very soury , I was so embarrassed to take my friend for lunch over there, I use to come here regularly few months back food use to be very good quality but now I don’t recommend anyone to go there!so I never go back this club again ,

Amazing communication, organisation and customer service by Matt and his team in the city. After a fantastic experience last year for my 50th it was an easy decision to book our wedding after party dinner with Matt again this year. Great service and selection of food options for all ages.Matt has been so professional and has really set my mind at ease during the chaos of wedding week.Thanks Matt you are fantastic, we really appreciate all you’ve done to make our day amazing. Decent club food. Nice small place. Great for a weekday lunch.

How was it?We have a 4yo and a 1 yo girls with attitude.Its the first time weve been and did so due to a recommendation from the internet.So worth it! The staff (all the staff, manager downwere extremely friendly and polite.Yes we were there "early" maybe 5:45pm but the friendly staff were very inviting. We were "waited" on by Chelsea (I thinkand she was very friendly and inviting. In fact all the staff made you feel like "old friends".All this backed up by a perfectly cooked (medium rarescotch fillet steak.So if you are looking to just go casual and have dinner and a drink where you feel right at home couldnt recommend it highly enough.Massive shout out to all the staff thats legends.

Small, loud, with very basic food and facilities. We were expecting similar to the epic club at Woden, and were very disappointed. Staff were lovely and friendly, and did thier best on what appeared to be a busy night. Would not go back - Woden club with space and variety suits us better.

Attended function upstairs on Sunday evening 9th May food ar best was very second rate. Steak was tough and salad very dry.

Had a meeting last week, beautifully presented food... and coffee was the hit of the day... loved it. Great guys behind the counter!)

Honest to God, Matty is the most superb human being, everytime I walk through those golden gates he greets me and my friends with such persaz and warmth. Overall great customer experience, would recommend this joint to anyone who is yet to grace it.

This a wonderful location to hold a function the staff were so helpful and extremely courteous at all times. I travelled up from Batemans Bay and so did not have the Canberra App for COVID it too 20 seconds for a staff member to load it up for me. The room we were in at the back of the first floor was so well set up and allowed our Toastmasters Club to celebrate 100 meetings. Highly recommend this venue to all.

The food was so bland, poor quality cuts of meat. Everything on the plate from the chips, to the salad to the meat was horrible. Nothing Greek whatsoever. Came hungry all the way from Melbourne and was so beyond disappointed. Not to mention outrageously expensive for the poor quality. If we weren’t so hungry we would have left it all on the plate. We couldn’t wait to get out.The staff however were super friendly and very welcoming. Such a shame.

We hosted an event here and the team were super helpful. The food was well priced and tasty, and they had a good selection of drink options at the upstairs bar for our function. Booking fees were reasonable too.

There is a good range of meals at both the City and Woden Hellenic Clubs. The bistro is convenient and we normally get quick service.

I went for lunch yesterday and wait for 1 hours my rump steak ,MR and I got the steak well done gravy was like a water , also my friend ordered chicken snitz it was burned like charcoalChips was uncooked like a raw salad was only lettuce no dressing so bad I never go back again ,

My family and i had dinner there tonight and it was fantastic! Yummy food, great sizes and the cocktails were amazing! Matt and Mitch were more than accomodating with their great customer service skills. We cant wait to return.

Had a work function at Hellinic Club, the food was fantastic, the staff were very pleasant and efficient. The venue was great, couldnt have asked for better. Highly recommended A+

First time there, had coffee. Very reasonably priced, not bad coffee either in my opinion. Also had lunch there, Thai red curry, it was delish and the quantity was pretty good considering the price.

What would you get from a parking coordinator who offered wrong information and then spinned the story to the reception? A receptionist with an attitude and a robust discussion of whether the club should validate your parking ticket as a patron. What happened to the non-patrons that parked and competed with patrons in the use of club facilities in past few years when the clubs parking gates are opened all the time? What happened to the non-patrons when they entered the club without a membership and were just let go? Sorry but you will not get my business anymore.

Overall a good meal at a reasonable price but the experience was tainted by the smoke from the outside smokers area coming into the front eating area, perhaps in violation of some local law? Very noisy with football fans watching the game on tv.

Classic Canberra club located just outside of the main CBD area. Has a great upstairs function area that is good for events such as 21sts or uni parties. The kitchen serves good food that is very reasonably priced. There is also a good selection of alcohol, which is similarly reasonably priced. If there was more seating down stairs and less room taken up by the pokies it would be better.

Great place for drinks and dinner - but don’t recommend the cheaper steaks. The fattiest and chewiest steak I’ve ever had. All other meals we’ve ever had have been good and not too pricey.

Came here to watch Socceroos Vs France, place was packed. Amazed at the great service staff were able to provide despite having so very many people there. Delicious food getting run out left, right and centre, fair prices, good selection of food and drink. Establishment is small for a place like this, however they make the most of the room without it feeling cramped at all (and still packing large crowds easily). Function rooms upstairs, pokies, bar, bistro, outside area downstairs. Solid joint.

Small but comfortable mid-city Club. Handy to meet or wait for someone. Friendly bar and cafe staff. OK food. The usual sports on TV screens & pokie area. I particularly like the cushioned bench seats around the wall, with tables for relaxed dining. There are also taller bar stool tables closer to the bar.

Found the Hellenic Club, here in the city to be a great little club. Food was pretty good and nice beer on tap. Staff were all pretty good, too. They do have a dress code, so leave the singlets and thongs at home. Cheers

Ordered by my doctor to eat more meat I fancied a steak last night and noticed the Hellenic club on Moore St as I was walking by. Very happy to make the decision to go there. It was mostly empty clean and comfortable with very reasonably priced club/pub food (for Canberra City). The steak was so yummy tender chargrilled flavour with heaps of great chips and a very fresh generous serving of salad. Not hipster fare which Canberra city is saturated with, and I tend to be scared of eating dishes with strange combinations of raw meat challenging foods. Unless its fungi based! The staff were polite and helpful too which is not uncommon in Canberra.

Had a work conference here and the facilities were in serious need of an update. The conference room was dark and dingy, the toilets smelled bad first thing in the morning, they mixed the beef and lamb in the same catering dish and they also didnt provide a separate vegetarian meal as promised. I certainly wont be going back again.

You would think that a club like this, with the full backing of a larger club in Woden, could at least keep their maintenance up.Middle of summer and the interior of the club is 5-6 degrees hotter than outside. Its OK says the barman I think i can feel the aircon just kicking in now (8.30pm). Apparently its been like it for weeks.No point going to a place that cares so little for the comfort of their patrons

They didnt have what the kids or our ourselves wanted off the menu and the bar tender got cranky because I asked nicely if I can please have my shot in a shot glass instead of a glass. Crappy 35th birthday dinner experience for my wife.
