Helkatti Cat Cafe in Helsinki

When they ask costumers to take of the shoes they must take responsibility for that! My friend’s shoes have been stolen there which they cost 170 euros and the cafe owner only tried to make it up with 30 euros gift card!I don’t recommend this place if you like your shoes!

A few days ago, my shoes were stolen in this cafe, they dont allow you to enter with shoes, but they dont accept responsibility for the shoes, it is clear from the cafe camera that someone stole my shoes, they told me that they wont give me my money, they didnt answer my email and When I went there, the manager refused to talk to me, and they said that she told to go and file a complaint with the police and they will not give me any money. Today, I filed a complaint with the police,I am also following up through different ways, I will teach them that the customer is not just money and they must be responsible

Calm and atmospheric place with good food and lovely cats. My daughter and I both loved it. The service was a bit slow and detached, but it was worth coming to the place.

Kind of disappointed by the experience here. The cats are adorable and the place is cute, but as some other reviews also mentioned, the place is crawling with kids many of whom were unsupervised and not respectful of the cats’ boundaries. I felt really bad for the cats and annoyed that every time I tried to approach/pet a cat some child appeared out of nowhere to try and grab it, thus chasing it off. The staff seem to be doing their best, but are too busy serving food to mind other people’s’ children (which they shouldn’t have to do anyway, that’s not their job).

Lovely cafe, have always enjoyed visiting in the past. However this time despite having a booking we had to wait for almost 10 minutes to even enter. The waitress wouldnt bring menus so I got them myself.When we wanted to order we had to repeatedly ask the waitress if she could come by. After finally ordering, we had to wait for our food for 45 minutes, because the kitchen had made an error. In addition, the place is severely understaffed.The reservation in total is 90 minutes, and by the time we received our order we had about 15 minutes left. Definitely frustrated by the lack of staff. At least the food was alright and cats very cute!

Cute little cat cafe, plenty of cats roaming around, friendly and sleepy. A nice relaxing environment to just hang out. The chai late and hot chocolate was decent and the cake was nice. Overall, very calming.

Really nice flat bread pizza and the simplicity of the childrens menu is very good. The staff are friendly, helpful and hardworking. Ill be coming back many times to enjoy the good and company.

Where to start? I’m a dogs and cats lover, but the concept is a disappointment. Cats want to be left alone and don’t like strangers cuddling them, except when they’re young and playful and in rare moments after that. So if you’re happy with some occasional sightings of cats, then fine. Maybe dogs would work - not cats. The space is good for cats, not that pleasant as a coffee. You need to leave your shoes at the door. The service is super slow, up to a point that it actually mirrors the cats’ behaviour: it follows their own pace, oblivious to any reasonable expectation from us, clients/ humans. The coffee is terrible. The sandwiches were good - an extra star for that. Not for me.

Weird. Need to reserve even when the place looks quiet. When you arrive, youre kept in a small holding pen for 5 mins+ until someone acknowledges and releases you. Two beers and a cold starter (which were tasty, hence 2 stars rather than 1took 1 hour to be served. Then was hurried out before finishing 30 minutes later, to make way for the next victims. Cats unusually aggressive, got mutliple scratches. They probably dislike it there too. All very odd. Avoid.

I entered the cafe and it was empty. I asked if I need a reservation or may I come in. She said no you need a reservation, sorry goodbye and she closed the door. Very friendly!

Great place to visit and not too expensive for a cat cafe. But the cats understandably were a bit introverted.

Super over heated , the place is so full you can’t see a cat and when you walk in you are left standing here with no info the waiter just looked super vague and wasn’t saying a word … he just left us without indicating us where we could sit or what were the rules or anything , we left as we were left there standing in the moist heat ( not sure it’s great for the cats…… very odd experience

Been to much better cat cafes. The menu is lacking, the cat experience was so-so, their coffee machine was broken, and service was slow and rude. Happy to pay the €10 for the cats, but I would pass on this experience if I were you.

The type of place youll go at maximum only once. But I would suggest even less than that. Here were my problems so that you can at least know what to expect if you really insist on going there:- bad food; these were easily the worst pastas Ive ever had anywhere in the world. Completely tasteless, not worth it even if they would be given for free. Sandwiches were decent, but also not worth the price- 5€ entry fee; I can understand the reasoning of that, but still not worthy; the bad part is that people usually dont know about it- staff; you know why people dont know about the entry fee? Because the staff is doing a horrible job. The girl that served us informed someone from the next table only when paying and he was surprised by it. We came in at 19, considering the place is closing at 20. We had no idea (our fault), but the girl didnt tell us, we ordered food, still nothing. And then at 20:00 she just came to kick us out. Without any prior info or anything. Worst part? The entry fee is the same price and you can even book a table for 19 or 19:30 which makes no sense. Its just a way of scamming people and making money out of them, otherwise they would at least try to be helpful and inform you in a timely manner. Her reaction was: "we shouldnt take food orders after 19". Oh, really? Then why are you still doing it? This is clearly ill-intended.- the experience was ok, but still if youd like to try it out Id suggest a different place for it and avoid this one; If youre staying for a longer time and only have drinks, then this place might also be worth it, otherwise its a total waste of time and money.

I love the cats coffee place. The cats are amazing the coffee very good and the staff very friendly. You need to try it at least once!!! Before you visit, you must know that every person pays 5e, which goes to whatever the cats needs. ❤️

Extremely relaxed cat cafe. Cats and staff were very relaxed and easy going. It was nice to just sit here, petting a warm kitty and let time go by.

An excellent cafe with a varied and reasonably priced menu, which is located a few minutes from Kamppi Centre. Note that there is a €5 entrance fee per person for the cats, and you have to take your shoes off inside. The cats are adorable and very friendly, especially if youre there at snack time when each table gets a little bowl. Theyre clearly well looked after with free reign of the building, the toilet door even has a cat flap! I suggest following them on Facebook for regular cat photos.

Loved this place! There are I think 9 cats and 2 bunnies. The cats seemed to like to stay by the window because the heater was right there, so get the table right up front if you can. That is the ideal cat hangout. The bunnies were very cute, and they liked to hop around, let you pet them, and then hop away to take a break.I love how they have cat themed furniture and pillows! They also have a small food menu if you get hungry. I got the French toast and thought it was really good! Also, the hot chocolate came with a cute cat design! I’ll definitely come back if I’m ever back in Helsinki!

We reserved a time and got some excellent catpucinos. The staff is friendly and kids are welcomed (just remember to behave). It is a nice concept and we had lovely time there

Honestly, the Helkatti Cat Café is a great place. The hot chocolate is greatly done, the chocolate cake is tasty, the atmosphere is very cool and can feel peaceful. Nonetheless, the entrance fee of 5 euros is not something Id like to get used to and by the way, when the cats are sleeping (and you arent allowed to cuddle them when they are sleeping), you have nothing to do but drink your hot chocolate and remember to pay the entrance fee before leaving... 😶

Id say they need a higher cat-to-human ratio. And given the high prices for food and drinks, I dont think its fair to charge an additional 5 euro for entry. The cats are lovely, mind you. But Id avoid this place until the end of the pandemic, because its fill of kids (as well as adulstnot wearing masks.

Very crowded with no care about Covid guidelines, most people did not wear a mask when leaving the place and staff did not correct them...Prices were rather high in my opinion even though the cake was good.

There are 8 different cats in the cafe. The hot chocolate is tasty. The place is nice and chill. I recommend, especially if you like cats.

Nice people but you cant really count on an interaction with a cat. They are cats, of course, and have their own agenda, but they are bored enough with strangers that they wont sniff a hand and they didnt play with a lot of the toys.

Small cozy café in which you can pet and play with about ten cats. The coffee, hot chocolate and quiche were all very good. Better reserve a table as it is popular.

Nice and cozy cafe with lots of cats. Some of the cats are friendly and playful, if its not their nap time. You have to wait for the server to open the door for you, seats are limited, you can book in advance. Friendly customer service and nice mocktail. Food is nice too. Theres 5e entrance fee.

There are eight cats living in the cafe and all are adorable. Some of them are more friendly than the others and even come to customers and jump onto their lap. There are lots of shelves where cats can sleep and walk on so sometimes cats end up jumping from those constructions on the customers table :food is good there though the selection in the menu is limited. The place is quite popular so you better book it before coming cos they run out of places quite fast. There is a lot of merchandise with cats on them available too.

Warm and cozy place with very polite and sweet staff. The food was great, I also enjoyed their daily cocktail. A prefect place to spend a rainy or snowy afternoon. The cats were super cute and cuddly.

If you like cats and cafes then this is your place! It has a very cosy decor and reasonable prices for drinks and snacks. Just remember to make a reservation! Remember to go to the bathroom. There might be a fluffy cat inside.

Love this cat cafe! Was there three times already. Now they have new 5m old kitten :)There are some gluten-free options in menu, don’t hesitate to ask! And remember to book table in advance, because cafe is popular and it is possible scenario that after work there are no free places

A lovely cat cafe! The cats were beautiful and happy, with loads of room to run around in and things to play with. The interior design was very cozy and warm. Everyone was super friendly and bonded over a love for cats. :)

The cats were nice but very sleepy, like you would expect. The food was tasty but a bit expensive, especially considering the 5e entrance fee. The service was quite slow, but kind nonetheless. The interior was designed with the cats in mind, but too "hipster" for my taste.

Before everything you have to keep in mind 2 things:1. There are two doors in there, you have to enter the first door, make sure its closed, ring the bell and then wait for a waiter to open for you. This is so that the cats dont escape.2. You have to take your shoes off at the cafe, bring comfy socks!As for the actual review: Amazing place and lovely cats, it was such a nice experience.The prices are quite high and you might not be able to pet the cats (you cant and shouldnt when theyre sleeping, because thats too stressful for them).The place is quite small so Im not sure if its a good idea to bring an energetic child there, especially that they might chase the cats around.The food took a while to get ready but it was really great, I ordered the helkatti tapas plate and it was delicious.The menus are in both English and in Finnish and the waiter speaks good English and was nice, we were given a small amount of free high quality cat food when we finished eating so that was nice!Also keep in mind the place is quite small so Im not sure if its a good idea to bring an energetic child there, especially that they might chase the cats around.Despite the drawbacks I think the place deserves 5 stars and is definitely a place you should visit if youre in Helsinki, the cats are really cute :)Edit: They also have a bunch of books about cats in Finnish and English!!! It was so nice to check them out while waiting for the food. I think theyre worth checking.

Lovely atmosphere, cute cats all around (one was taking a nap in the bathroom and didnt mind some gentle scritches). Food and drinks are respectably local, try their cheese platter, the meadowsweet jam is great. Cheery and attentive staff. One of the places in Helsinki you should absolutely visit. Do reserve in advance through their website, theyre really popular!

The cats are of course lovely but, having visited many Animal Cafes, the service was poor, the environment was crowded, the cats stayed lurking by the kitchen door and did not seem to enjoy moving around their space. Movement was highly frowned upon but the staff made little effort to assist guests in interacting otherwise. I watched another group sit, clearly wishing to meet kitties but unsure how, for an entire hour. The staff only spoke to me to ask my order, to tell me when my order had arrived at my table, and to try and push a further sale out of me when I had finished my first drink. I was told twice when my drink had arrived by two separate members of staff, who were clearly not impressed that I had got up to take a photo of the cats, all by the back door ignoring their guests.

Excellent place! The cats are friendly and adorable, and the servers are very polite, charming and knows the cats and the menu well. I only had a Chai, but I saw other people get their food - and it looked delicious and fresh.The atmosphere is comfortable and cosy, with lights turned down and the music relaxing.The food and drink are very reasonably priced (from my point of view as a Norwegian), but be aware that they take a fee of 5 euros to enter - it is of course for the upkeep and care of the cats.

Very relaxing and soothing atmosphere, like a few other places in Helsinki. Friendly servers, delicious teas and of course, lovely cats. Their wellness and safety comes first, so follow the house rules and you should be fine.

My boyfriend and I went here today. We had the chocolate cake and cappuccinos. The cats were super cute. You can even feed them treats. The place fills up fast so make a reservation.

Friendly cafe with nine cats. There is an entry fee of 5€ per person. Well worth it as its easy to spend time there. Reservation beforehand is recommended but not necessary. Serves alcohols and has vegan options.

Cozy small cafe. The food was nice, and a fun concept. The cats were cute and the lattes and cappuccinos were decorated with cats on the milk foam. The space is very small and it is clear there is need for a bigger space, the staff seem a bit stressed. 5 euro entrance fee is quite a lot.

A relaxed, cozy cafe with good coffee and tasty cakes and of course a treat for any cat/animal lover. There are a few things to keep in mind.1 - cats are independent-minded creatures with their own habits and schedules. Yes they might all be sleeping at certain times but there are maybe 10 cats total so usually at least a couple will be awake.2 - Yes there is a €5 guest charge which goes towards taking care of the animals.3 - It is not a restaurant and while they serve both sweet and savoury dishes, they are light meals.4 - It is a popular place, especially on weekends, which is why they always ask if you made a reservation. (Booking for weekends is recomended)5- Taking off your shoes is a common request in Finnish homes and some public places too.6 - Service can sometimes be slow but the staff are helpful and friendly.Overall I have not had a bad experience after multiple visits though you have to pick your time/get lucky if you want the full cat experience 🐱
