Hrad Helfštýn, 751 32 Týn nad Bečvou, Czechia, Přerov
Imposing, 16th-century, fortified hilltop castle complex, with towers, bastions & courtyards.
My wife and I had our wedding on the wall here. It was awesome! The organization by the coordinator Irena was excellent, we felt completely secure that all would go as planned and everything in her control did go as planned. We are so happy to have gotten married here and to have Irena help us to do it.
We arrived at 4:30pm after travelling for more than 30 km and the gate keeper didnt allow us to get in (or even to talk to us).
Excalibur race
Nicely keeped castle. The only minus were the blacksmiths new age sculptures that were planted in many places in the castle. And the main keep was kinda his Art gallery. But as a fort, it was very nice
A great medival castle in good condition and also host for the greatest blacksmith festival! Once a year in August.
Tour worth taking as Helfstyns history is very interesting. Castle itself is partially renovated with a modern twist that ironically doesnt detract from the ruins.
Beautiful place!
Absolutely worth to visit
What a pretty castle, definitely one of my favorite ones from this area. The restoration they managed to do here was stunning, thanks to it you can visit all of the castle wall floors with beautiful views from the whole place. The castle also has the widest defense walls in Europe (a bit over 9 meters! The wall is appropriately named "Široká"(literally meaning w"Wide" in Czech)Its also a place where each year blacksmiths from all around Europe come together and have a smithing competition together. You can see the best pieces displayed all around the castle, while most of them are great, few ones ruin the atmosphere of the old castle. The local guide that went with us through the castle was knowledgeable and pretty funny too.
Well preserved, clean, with many art installations. Inside is quality restaurant. Worth the trip.
Very good trip! I didnt even feel like conquering this castle since its so nicely restored and well kept.
Im very impressed. I remember this place as a little boy. What a change. Beautifully clever restoration gives this place new life. Just amazing what can be done from a run down ruins.
A must see attraction. A place I will return time and time again
I can be biased as I know this castle ruin since I was child, however the amazing work done on it is breath taking. Of course its losing some of the childhood wilderness and mystery, but from the historical preservarence perspective its amazing. If you want to visit I recommend the end of summer when famous Smiths competition "Hefaiston" is taking the place.
Cool casttle. Nice views from the top
Beautiful scenery
Super 👍
That day was cold. But the castle made our day. Wow. Coming back in summer.
Best of the castle in Olomouc region.
Very special castle when you need a break.
Beautiful views of the surrounding area. I visited with my fiance in mid October, when all the trees were changing. It was beautiful 😍
Place definitely worth to see.We have been amazed by the blacksmith art all over the castle, it’s incredible!
Helfstyn castle with Hefaistone exhibition is epic!
Even with rainy weather, this place is to worth visiting. Without a free tour guide, you can still learn something about the history of this centuries-old castle, but with it, the experience is enhanced. Beautiful sculptures from students decorate the surroundings and inner places.
Beautiful and sensibly repaired old castle full of metal statues and other art pieces made by blacksmiths around the world usually at the famous Hefaiston sessions. You can have a drink or food inside the castle, ice cream during summer, guided or free tour. Its my favorite castle to visit in my region.
Brilliant. An excellent example of modern take on restoration. We are also lucky to have one of the best tour guides. which made the visit even more enjoyable, educational and entertaining.
One of the most beautiful castles in Czech Republic! Highly recommended!
you cant go inside rn but its lovely around
Amazing castle, nicely reconstructed. Tours are both good and reasonably long. Plenty of parking spaces provided nearby.
It looks really nice but there are special metallic and glass constructions to prevent ruining and it changed a lot this beautiful place
With the newly reconstructed main palace, this castle is impressive. You may enjoy exhibit of blacksmithery, which is really cool (you would not believe what can be done with iron). During summer weekends, there are different types of special events (including blacksmiths symposium Hefaiston), when the castle may be really crowded, so I would recommend checking their web before you visit, particularly when you want to enjoy the history and architecture.
Had a great lunch here situated right next to an air field you can watch light aircraft and gliders take off while you dine. Good food basic wholesome menu with excellent service. I would highly recommend.
Despite high prices of parking (150 Kč - 6 euroand entrance fees (150 Kč per head), such a lovely place to visit! But do not bring a stroller - no way you will move there
Not much to see. You pay 100 czk for all day parking even though you spend there 1 hour maximum. 50 czk entrance fee, but half of the castle is closed and there is only one tower for sightseeing. Not worth the money and time.
Most beautiful in this time of year 🍂🍃💯🔥💕
Awesome 👍😁Hiking around the entire castle was a great way to spend the morning even though the castle was closed. I got some amazing pictures.Cant wait to come back when the restoration is done.
Amazing castle, even if there are some part in restoration. If you speak Czech you can enjoy the history of the different weapons in a very funny way. Absolutely suggested
The Helfštyn is under reconstruction now. It should be done during 2019 year and I am persuade that it is going to be one of the best fort in this region which you have to visit!
Beautiful place, one of the biggest castles in Europe. At the moment not fully opened because it is being reconstructed a bit but still well worth a visit if you like this kind of places.
Very beautiful castle and must see place
Enjoyed the blacksmiths’ display and knife-making during the annual August event. Thanks to everyone who made it happen!
Great for family trip. There is restaurant.
Beware of the restaurant in the castle! Everything about castle is great except the restaurant inside castle. The price was way too high for that ordinary food and I had to wait 1 hour for it. In soup there were some hair. New clients received their meals before I got mine and left restaurant while I was still waiting. Waiter didnt even warn me that Ill have to wait longer. Its a pity that opinion about the castle was affected by the quality of gastronomy services but I cannot rate this restaurant separately. If theyre not able to provide appropiate quality, they shouldnt open restaurant there!
I was a bit sad to see the castle palace closed, but the renovation is necessary to save this beautiful place. I love the blacksmith art all over the castle.
Good family place
Beautiful and big castle. Just be careful of opening times. In November, they close at 16:00 and the last visitors are allowed in at the latest 30 minutes before.
Nice place, there is timetable with guide. There are historical events
Very big and impressive structure with beatiful surrounding
Wonderful castle with nice views. In autumn, thanks to its surrounding woods, its full of colours. Smiths from around the world have here their symposium once a year.
amazing blacksmiths sculptures..
