Cosy cafe with painted brick walls and contemporary furniture, for artisan coffees and pastries.
I would probably say that this coffee shop is a must for coffee lovers! ...Nice place, atmosphere and good service.
Nice latte with fresh bean.
I had lots of iced coffee from this place over the summer. For the most part they were pretty good!
nice coffee and really nice staff.the wifi is very slow and disconnects so be aware if you plan on going here to work.
Love this cafe. Such lovely staff, tastey food and incredibly well priced healthy breakfast. I love going here for some morning reading and writing before work <3. Makes my mondays so much better!
Really cute place & friendly service! I loved the cinnamon bun. I’ll try and come back for breakfast when I need the area as it looks really good and was reasonably priced.Only little downside is no toilets!
We found about Hej Café while browsing through a “London best coffee shops” book at a souvenir store. The next morning we took the bus and went to Bermondsey. It was such a great experience! The coffee was great; the two ladies at the front desk were so welcoming and professional. We ordered Avocado sandwiches for the girls and they came out so fresh and tasty. You guys rock! Wonderful relaxed atmosphere for a great morning coffee
Coffee 3/5. But v long wait vs comparable London coffee shops. I guess ok for dine-in, terrible if time-limited
Went there for a TooGoodToGo parcel like a week or two ago. Really disappointing to be honest! Stale sandwiches and really bland cafe food - we ended up throwing most things away and also got worried that some things were too old to be eaten. Not to mention, the lady who gave us the bag seemed unfriendly.
Friendly staff, outdoor tables surrounded by greenery, space indoors to chill and work, coffee beans for home from £7.50. Only thing is the coconut brand oat milk made my coffee taste sour. Oatly please :)
absolutely lovely, nice homely feeling in here, staff nice and friendly, great prices and lovely sitting facilities, nice place to escape to when youre meeting up with a friend❤️I would recommend it to anyone
I appreciate how the barista insisted to make my coffee twice even though its my fault to mention how I liked my coffee!
A quiet-ish Sunday morning. Filter coffee was not fantastic. Staff seemed overworked (putting together takeaways for Deliverooand not particularly welcoming. Nice place though. Wont go back in a hurry.
Oh dear. I used to like Hej Coffee but I have stopped going there. The management and staff are so bad. My last visit involved the manager being pretty mean to a staff member. The staff have been getting more and more miserable over time but the last visit made me realise, I dont want to see staff treated badly and looking miserable. The atmosphere at Hej used to be good, now its bad. I gave you a chance but I no longer want to drink at Hej. There are so many better places around. Reading reviews, its clear that there is something very rotten at Hej.
Extremely lovely staff and great coffee. The pastry selection is excellent, and there are generously filled savoury bagels and baguettes. A great place to work - free Wi-Fi and laptop ‘zone’ for anyone who wants to set up for a couple of hours! Sadly no bathroom and none nearby, and the outdoor seating currently looks onto a building site
Tge coffee is still great although the filter coffee is hit or miss. (Today is delicious tho!!The team used to be so welcoming and happy, now I feel like every time I go there I "make the guys work" and I want to get my coffee and leave quickly. Today I was served by a person who was more interested in her phone.
Cozy space and nice vibeBagel and coffee were delicious!!!Prices are decent!People are nice too :)One star taken away for being a bit cold and not having toilets :(
Nice and relaxed cafe on the square and close by the White Cube, with facilities for laptops to connect. Great banana cake. Also a few tables outside for the good season.
Perfect coffee!Outside seating so if you’re cycling it makes a perfect quick stop👌🏻(FYI - They do food and snacks too, I just didn’t try them)
The coffee here is always good! Ive been a bunch of times and its just more consistent than cafes usually are. They have good filter too.
My son and I come here for our morning flat white and babycino before nursery weekly. The coffee is some of the best locally, and the service is always great. The food is a bit on the pricey side, but on par with other cafes locally.
Ordered cheese and tomato sourdough toastie and this is what I got. The edge of the tomato that’s hard and unpleasant to eat. The bacon brioche was even less appetising. Shame since the ingredients seem to be of good quality which gets the 2 stars plus 1 for the coffee but there was no care in the preparation. Still sour about getting served tomato edges that are barely edible.
Great coffee and delicious buttery cinnamon buns! The staff is super nice and they seem to have a lot of fun while working. The cute italian barista prepared a beautiful flat white for me. ;)Will definitely return.x
Overall: 2/10The only word to describe my experience would be “disappointing”The staff weren’t friendly & one particular person looked like they didn’t even want to be there. I didn’t feel welcomed at all. They also stopped serving anything that needed to be toasted or hot 3 hours before closing which I found ridiculous. I ended up having a latte which wasn’t that great. Oh and I asked for coffee to have in, they gave it to me in a to go cup. What is the point of asking me then?In addition to all of that, the lid broke so easily. Talk about quality.I was hoping for more out of this place but it is what it is.Would I go again: Nope!
Ive been a regular for a long time and I definitely recommend this place. The staff is lovely, the food is delicious and the coffee is great. Vegan friendly and pet friendly! Very cozy space to enjoy your coffee during those cold winter days and very refreshing options for the hot summer days.
Nice sandwiches and bagels. Quick service
Great oatmilk lattes and coffee in general, and well adapted for CV 19 new guidelines. Friendly staff. Have not tried food yet. They have a few outdoor tables but can get noisy as it sits next to tower bridge road.
Coffee was above average but not as good as others in the area (Watch House for example). Avocado sourdough toast was excellent, fresh bread, nice avocado and chilli flakes. Very inexpensive and despite the toast being simple they executed it well without trying to make it overcomplicated like other cafes who seem to drench it in olive oil or make it difficult to eat using your hands.
Brilliant friendly cafe serving delicious coffee, fresh pastries and fantastic sandwiches. One of the best independent establishments Ive been to in Bermondsey and Ive been working in the area for over 3 years. Well worth a visit!
Really nicely decorated coffee place with a super friendly staff. The coffee was very good and the atmosphere calm and enjoyable. Recommended.
This is a really nicely decorated, modern and cosy little coffee shop. The coffee is really great. They have a good range of non-dairy milks as well. Sometimes it’s difficult to get a seat, but that just shows how popular it is I guess.
Super relaxed, clever decoration, great drinks. Plenty of natural light, great for chilling out or working for a while.
Ordered a mint ice tea. Was given a different flavour. When I queried it the response given was "We didnt have that flavour so I made you this one". Its customary to inform a client that their choice isnt available before giving them an alternative. Also ordered food (chicken and mushroom pie). Paid for at 12:28, served at 12:58 when the rest of the table had finished their food. Only served once Id let them know that theyd clearly forgotten my order. No apology was given. All in all, expensive prices, average food and disorganised/poorly trained staff. I dont recommend.
Nice coffee shop with outdoor seating. Great quality coffee, though food is a bit pricey (£8 for toastie with salad).
Another great coffee house in Bermondsey. This one is a great place for coffee, hangout or doing some work. There is a peaceful calm about the place and it is in a great spot. Visit here when the market is on and you have a great place to watch people, from inside or the outside tables. A great use of space and perfect spot off the tower bridge tourist area
The coffee and the wifi is of good quality but that is pretty much the end of my positive experience. Every time I come here they make such a big deal over money. I much prefer a relaxed environment where I order, perhaps multiple coffees and some food, and at the end I settle my debt - like every other cafe. At Hej Coffee every time I order something they ask for money as if Im going to run off with their £2.80. It comes across as very rude, at least to a British person. They lack a toilet and the staff dont seem confident enough to supply friendly conversation. The food (except porridgeis unbelievably expensive. £5 for a sandwich takeaway and £8 if you want to eat it in the cafe!
Style over substance. The coffee was nice. Sausage roll was tasty but the food was expensive for what it was. Selection of food and soft drinks is minimum. Staff are very nice but dont communicate with each other or customers very well (food stacks up at the till and no one does anything about it). Looks trendy and has a trendy crowd, but not up to scratch compared to the other coffee houses close by.
Not a toilet in sight... need to go to the nearby cinema to use facilities... coffee was good but nothing to write home about. Service was adequate bordering on slightly disappointing. Disinterested and lack-lustre staff. Loads of places to get artisan hipster coffee in London. Id suggest visiting one of those instead.
Popped in for a coffee & cinnamon bun, both were very good. Staff were friendly and it seemed a cosy environment but I didn’t stay (coffee to go). I’d definitely visit again though.
HEJ SOMSERSET HOUSE: This place only serves hot drinks and cakes in disposable cups/ plates, there is no proper eat-in option, which is disappointing for environmental purposes. The bakery (banana bread (photo attached), danish pastries, cakes.....always taste very stale and dry whenever Ive been, which I do not expect for that price! Just seems over-priced for no legitimate reason, and there is a lot of waste (unsold leftovers are thrown away at the end of the day). I regret all the times Ive wasted my money on this place, never again!
We visited the place today the 19th of August 2018 at 13:50.I ordered a slice of carrot cake. The size of the cake I got served where incredibly thin! The staff were being too greedy and trying to get as many as portions they can get.The most dissatisfying part was, they told us the dishwasher was not working and for that reason they had to serve our coffees in a takeaway cups. However, they were serving coffees in proper cups to their local customers. We live locally and we will never visit this place again.
I’m local and Hej used to be one of my favourite places to go and work, they always had fantastic tasty salads. This is no longer the case and I can no longer work there because the WiFi is absolutely rubbish, another thing which didn’t use to be the case. I really wish they’d get it sorted but the staff don’t seem to care. This place has definitely gone downhill a lot, such a shame.
Great coffee and cakes.. hence you may wonder why only 3 stars..!It just happens to me again and again when I come here that the service is quite disappointing. The staff should communicate more clearly amongst themselves to make things run more smoothly and faster. Also they could definitely smile a bit more!
Great coffee, good cakes, great atmosphere, nice area (bit expensive... £4.5 for a slice of carrot cake... 😬)
Warm cozy place ! Good music, not to loud, good coffee, homemade granola with yogurt, and desserts.Lovely place to work and chill !
😊😊The coffee tastes amazing! The vibe is relaxed and nice to work in. And there are accessible plugs. Look out for the discounted cakes on the weekend 😎😄😄
Nice coffee shop, friendly staff, however no toilet available inside the cafe, you will need to use the public one 50m away
You have to try the cinnamon roll. We had a hard time finding decent breakfast in London and this was a great little place.
Great place to sit down, do some work, and have good coffee. They have pretty decent filter coffee (comfortingly familiar to my American tastes). The space is small, but I dont see it getting nearly as crowded as some other London coffee shops, because of the spacing of the chairs. That said, theres a limited number of outlets available. All in all a good experience though, and I look forward to coming back here!
Very neatly setup and interior decor was done with attention to detail! Staff was very friendly and smiling. I got an avocado, tomato, and mozzarella bap, which was very tasty! Expertly made sandwich. Filter coffee with milk and sugar wasnt amazing, unfortunately. Perhaps the other drinks will be better? Im sure to revisit for a latte or barista-recommended beverage.
