Heart of the Desert Pistachios & Wine - Gift shop in Alamogordo, United States
April our tour guide was informative and entertaining. Samples of a variety of pistachios, ice cream and olive oil are available.Wine tasting is also available. Try the Pistachio Rose.
It is a really interesting experience everything is made right there and if you go on back patio you can see the pistachio trees up close... Not something Ive ever done in my East Coast/Midwest life... my husband loves the wine.. and its very inexpensive for bottles of wine shipped to Florida... They also have assortment of all kinds of other things that you can sample! My favorite part was oil and vinegar like 50 different flavors kind of overwhelming your taste buds... And pistachio ice cream of course
WORST TOURIST STOP EVER ! Employee APRIL who’s supposed too be a manager &” worker MARSHAL we’re extremely rude they both along with another future employee with short brown hair made smart remarks about me &” my service animal. They were giving ugly looks as if they were disturbed by our presence. The Worlds Largest Pistachio treated us way better &” made us feel way more welcomed unlike this place who doesn’t deserve my money nor service ,I’ll never be back !!!! &” I’ll make sure other friends &” family members don’t either.
Yummy wine and nice selection
You can tell when you walk in that the facility was made with love and not slapped together. I enjoyed the white pistachio wine the most. But if you like pistachios and are driving through, you should stop here. Ohhh, they even have a hummingbird garden & we saw little baby humming birds while walking in!
Outstanding service. Breathtaking view outside near the pistachio grove, under a beautiful covered porch. LIive music on Wednesday 6 pm. You have to try the Pistachio Rose wine, Chipolte and Garden Herb cheeses. Repeat customers.
We went in to see what they had. As soon as we walked in, the young ladies asked if wed been there before and when we said we had not, they told us about what we could find and the tasting areas. We tried some pistachios and some candy all of which were really good. Ended up buying some. Then, Lacey took us to the wine sampling area and made some excellent suggestions and we ended up with some good wine to take back. She also explained the Zia symbol and looked for some pieces we wanted but they didnt have. All in all, a great visit to a place that is open till 6 pm in a town that closes at 5.They have oils, wines, pistachio products galore, gifts, jewelery, art and wall decor. In addition they have a free farm tour and a dinner on the patio every Wednesday which sounds quite interesting.Definitely recommend a visit. to this place.
This was such a great evening. My family and I went there to celebrate my birthday. The food and music were fantastic! I would definitely go back.
This is an absolutely delightful side trip. They have wonderful things like pistachio ice cream, a variety of good pistachio chocolates, unique wines and all manner of good things. They’re friendly and kind and good people to visit with. Make the time to stop by. You’ll be glad you did.
On our way to El Paso, we saw the sign "the biggest pistachio in town", we had to stop at a place called Alamogordo NM.This place was awesome. They offer free tastings, wine different oil and vinegar flavors, pistachio popcorn, and of course pistachios itself. We left with 2 wines, 1 pineapple habanero (for dressing vinegar, 1 smoky bbq vinegar, 2 bags of pistachios (×1 Chile lime& 1 garlicand 1 caramel pistachio popcorn. We love the caramel so much, we had to go back after 3 weeks to get 2 more bags of popcorn. Would definitely recommend visiting this place.
After having both been young Airmen here back in the late 70s and out oldest son born here, we come through semi frequently to revisit our old stomping grounds. Weve brought our kids and grandkids too. Someone highly recommended we stop in here, while we usually go to another place down the road. We are so glad we did. Such a selection of coffees, wines, pistachios, and other gourmet treats! I must say up front that we are not wine drinkers, but they sure have a huge variety. They have wine tours, wine tastings, quite a versatile spot! Prices reasonable. Employees absolutely lovely. Warm welcoming and knowledgeable. Prices comparable to the other place. Check out all their activities! So glad we stopped! Well be back!
We visited the wine tasting room and then came back for the free tour. Lisa and Michaela were our guides. Both were very knowledgeable, answering our many questions about the pistachio orchard and processing facility. It may not sound that exciting, but it was really interesting to hear the history and learn the process the nuts go through. All of the pistachio samples we tried were great, as were the wines!
Love the pistachios from there. We are traveling all over the USA and I have found no other pistachio that compares. All others taste old by comparison. Wonderful product and wonderful wine.
Ok I have not actually been to the physical location but have been ordering their pistachios for a couple of years now. This is absolutely top notch product folks. We love the chili-lime. I would not hesitate to try their wines eitherUrbanCowgillMay 2022
Beautiful patio area lined by the Pistachio trees. Live music on Wednesday night.
Absolutely adorable place right off the highway in Alamogordo. It boasts of brilliantly infused oils and vinegars and locally made wines right off their neighboring vines. The pistachios were so fresh and different from what we’ve ever gotten in a store. The peach infused vinegar was amazing! We had it right away on our salads for dinner—yum!! I hope we can order more online!
Sampled some nuts, sample some oils and vinegar, and sampled wine. The wine girl, Mikey, was fantastic. She taught us about the difference between the wines, and what we liked, and what to look for. We bought a bottle of their Pistachio Rose, and some flavored white balsamic vinegar.
We love visiting Heart of the Desert when visiting Alamogordo.Their pistachios are delicious! We live on the east coast, and buy most of our pistachios thorough mail order. We had a problem with a delivery of the wrong product (gift basketa few years ago, and they made it right. No questions asked.
Good wines and prices. Smaller place then others but the people were more helpful and friendlier. Smaller choices of flavors in nuts but a verity of oils and vinegars to complement.
We went to select a gift basket for out of state family and found a delightful craft show being held-- all local artists. The staff here has always been knowledgeable and helpful whether it be regarding wine, oils, gifts or, of course, pistachios! An elegant experience.
Great place to truely get a "Taste of the Southwest!" The pistachios are grown and turned into wonderful tasty treats on site; along with their own unique selection of wines! All make perfect gifts! The Patio is absolutely gorgeous! Perfect blend of tastefully elegant with a relaxed contemporary vibe nestled into the pistachio groves. A real oasis in the desert! Perfect place to share a bottle of wine with friends, and especially for events. Have attend several here, including my nephews wedding, and they are all always fabulous. Especially thanks to Maryanne and her friendly and accommodating staff.
Great Pistachio farm and Vinyard with lots of wine tasteing options, flavored pistachios, chocolate, souvenirs and more. Great rest stop area with picnic tables and covered patio. Nice building with friendly staff and definitely worth the visit if you are traveling through or need a rest stop along your travels...
Very very cool wine patio. Shaded out of the sun (if you want to beand can overlook the pistachio Grove.Wine is good, with a couple of their big reds being well done. Tasting staff was very friendly and helpful.
Tours from start to finish!! Wine tasting.. photo ops and learning..great pit stop before white sands!
Gorgeous patio, friendly people, delicious wine and pistachios. We spent a few hours at Heart of the Desert after doing White Sands at sunrise and Three Rivers Petroglyphs. The sun is intense and the winery is a perfect escape. It was a relaxing beautiful setting with great hospitality. The pistachio tour was very interesting and an easy walk, nothing strenuous. Definitely a highlight not to be missed in Alamogordo.
Very food pistachios and even better wine. Took home 12 bottles because the wine was so good. And the friendliest staff you will ever meet!
Amazing winery and pistachio store. Free wine tasting and pistachio tasting. Price of bottles of wine were very reasonable plus 20% discount if you purchase 3 or more bottles. Also 10% off for military discount if buying less than 3 bottles and are a veteran or active military. Very clean, friendly staff, amazing to see pistachio trees. This is a must if in the area.
This is a fairly new winery with pretty descent wine that is tasty to the pallet. Not only is this a winery with its distinct selection of wines, it also grows and sells various types of pistachios as well. The visitor center provides examples of each with free wine tasting, 20% off after third bottle or 10% military discount. The staff is super awesome and friendly providing the best assistance and customer service. If you’re passing by, please drop by and support this local winery.
Absolutely fabulous! A must go to while any where near Alamogordo!
Instaworthy pic at the biggest lit up heart in the world, plus free wine tasting, pistachios, curios, and chocolate covered foods. Loved the service, wonderful reps.
I first visited when I was a teenager over 20 years ago and have always had fond memories, so I just went back with my husband and kids.We were immediately greeted by several friendly, kind, and helpful staff. We went on the free walking tour at 10:00am and Michaela was an excellent tour guide and answered all of our pistachio questions. We picked up plenty of pistachios, pistachio treats and ice cream from the gift shop.My whole family had a great experience! I would definitely recommend Heart of the Desert to anyone in the area!
Fantastic winery!Great service, Kelly was awesome!Beautiful setting on the patio with the pistachio trees! We make it a point to come here every time we are in New Mexico!
We were Alamogordo and just happened by. What a wonderful surprise. It was early in the morning and they had just opened for the day. We tasted various flavors of pistachios and their wines, both were outstanding. There is a wonderful outdoor patio that is next to the pistachio grove. It would be a great place to spend an afternoon or evening. I didn’t take my camera thinking we were visiting a nut shop, it turned out to be much more. We will definitely make a point to stop again next time we are in the neighborhood.
Pistachio orchard with a gift shop and wine tasting area. The gift shop has a nice variety but not over done. There are tables and restrooms inside. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
Very nice store and wine tasting. The back patio was amazing! We bought a bottle of wine and sat down on the comfy couches while our daughters checked out the pistachio trees. The ice cream was good, and the pistachios too. Much better than the place down the road which was too busy and crowded.
Had a boutique type feeling. Wine tasting in the store. Also had flavored oil and vinegar tasting in the store. Less crowded and friendlier, better customer service than down the road. Also had samples of their pistachios on sale. Tours are on hold but you can go look at the tree as long as you dont touch them. Highly recommend visiting this location.
We pulled off the highway on impulse and were pleasantly surprised to find a gourmet shop. The staff is so friendly and helpful, we sampled and bought some delicious pistachio brittle.
One of our favorite places to visit in New Mexico. The staff is so friendly and their outdoor space is so peaceful and serene when its not being utilized for events (I havent personally been to an outdoor event here but Ive heard great things). The garlic green chile pistachios are a must try, they also offer free wine tasting!
This place is great. It has a relaxing setting and good wine. Plus nuts, chocolates and other snacks if youre wanting to pair something with your wine!
Loved it so muchI just passed thru and will be there next time to taste the wine with no hurry
I was on my way to Riodoso and stopped in and I am glad I did. I cant stop eating the red chile pistachios I bought here.
We did not expect to run into a pistacho farm with a winery which made for a very enjoyable time. We got a chance to sample the wine and pistachios. Nice outdoor patio.
A gem of a place, on the way to white sands. So many different flavours of Pistachios, Wine made from their own grapes - unique and well worth a visit!
Love this place. Classy looking inside, taste test that is clean. & they give it to you, the can spell Chile correctly and gave amazing pistachios! Even got a pair of comfy pants while in the store! Well done. Plus friendly staff. Its a win win.
Just driving through and suddenly theres a giant heart in the desert.Always worth a fun pic for the album.Any business with this much of a love vibe gets my vote ❤
Nice gift shop. Bought multiple things. VERY nice back patio to drink wi e and relax. Also have Wine Down Wednesday with live music. Bought 2 bottle of wine. Definitely worth a stop
If you are this far into the beautiful dessert, after visiting the White Sands national park, you should stop here. The patio is really nice. Buy some pistachio nuts after trying a few samples. The candy is quite good. There is a wine bar, but whether you like this wine depends greatly on how badly you want a glass of wine.
Always some different experience when visiting this location. Friends enjoy the wines, pistachios and atmosphere here. Must visit while out enjoying the Sacramento Mountains
Very nice place to stop and shop for probably the best Pistachios weve ever had. They also have a large vineyard and sell wine along with candies and other gift items.
Attended a wedding here. Beautiful patio configuration for a small wedding. Sound system and operation were so sub standard that it detracted from the day. System should be upgraded and staff trained in proper operation. If youre planning a wedding or event here, bring your own system and operator.
