The hotel was clean and the bed was comfy. The only reason why I’m giving it a two star, is because the stove tops didn’t work and I was moved around to three different rooms. None of them worked. I wasn’t credited or partially reimbursed after spending 95$ on said reservation. The whole purpose of booking a hotel room with a kitchen, was to use the kitchen, and I couldn’t even do that.
The room I had was spectacular. Under $100 very spacious King room, large desk area, and a nice corner shower with a large mirror in the bathroom. But the kicker for me was the kitchenette. Full size fridge with ice maker, two burner stove top along with all the amenities to make your own food (pots pans cups plates and silverware), a sink and a dishwasher.
Excellent service and very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful 🙂
Clean, staff was very accommodating and friendly! And pet friendly!Awesome breakfast! And they have a free dinner Wednesday evening!Would definitely recommend!
I checked in only to find out someone had reserved another room in another hotel for a wedding event. I explained the situation and it didn’t matter I got stuck paying for a room that I in for 5 minutes. The bathroom had no shower curtain, bed sheets didn’t look like they were washed. They look like the previous guess made the bed and called it a day. Dead flies on the window sill with others crawling on the window. The one staff member was nice but like another guest stated they couldn’t help them get their money back either. I gave the staff member my phone number and told them to have the manager get back to me since they didn’t have the authority to do it. Needless to say I’m still waiting on that phone call. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel no matter how many people said they loved it. If you have any class at all avoid staying at this podunk hotel and stay on the other side of the parking lot in a different hotel.
the wal mart across the street was nice plenty of lights in the room didnt love the shower the recliner is what did it for me
Staff was outstanding! Hotel is showing its age, but is very clean.
The hotel was ok but not worth the price ($180/night). The room was clean and quiet. However, the fridge was loud and the tv was old (small and far from the bed). I reduced stars for the lack of updated amenities including a tv with no streaming or casting abilities, loud fridge manager’s free dinner was just chicken soup, very slow and weak Internet, no towels in the gym, old swipe key card access and no ice machine availability.
Good clean hotel with friendly staff. Great work hotel when traveling.
This was our fifth night on the road of a 21-day road expedition across the Dakotas to Montana and back. The parking lot is across from a very busy Walmart. The indoor common areas were badly worn and grungy. If the front door ever had an auto-opener, it doesnt work anymore. The check-in clerk was polite and helpful, but seemed a bit overwhelmed and raggedly dressed. We had made a specific room floor request that hadnt been honored, and the woman who dragged herself out from the back office seemed really put out to have to accommodate us.Our room was reasonably clean, quiet, and comfortable. The shower water pressure was poor. The shower stall was just weird. At this point in our trip we were still eating our own breakfast food in an attempt to ease into a three-week trip, so we didnt eat the breakfast provided. We needed to do some laundry, but the inconveniently located laundry rooms were pretty grungy. It was at this point we figured out this place was mainly being used by itinerant workers. The breakfast room coffee was the standard weak brew. At these prices, youd think they could at least give you decent start to the day with some actual caffeine. At $85 all-in, the price was in line with what we used to pay in non-destination towns for this kind of room pre-pandemic. But this is the brave new world we now live and travel in, right? Sadly, $85 per night evidently nowadays just gets you grungy surroundings and lackluster service.
It was a good place to stay for a bowling tournament. Small breakfast. Rooms were decent enough. For the price it was great. Employees were friendly as well.
Everything is great. Except internet. Everyday I had to reconnect. Last day trying to watch movie. Constantly buffering, and everything was pixelated. Had to reconnect 3 times before I gave up trying to watch a movie on my Roku. Fridge was also bad. Leaked water onto my leftover food. Icemaker also leaked water into storage.
Did not clean room after request each day, had to go get towels, and they still did not clean room, front desk did a good job, just clean staff not following thru. WiFi was very poor, had to hotspot thru my phone to be able to do anything - this day and age it should be much better if you want business travels. Room door sticks, hard to open and close - metal on metal. Breakfast OK, Advertised as having a bar, they have one, but it is not open, A little disappointing overall.
Not clean. Room and hallway not vacuumed. Peanuts & Dog hair on floor. Poor lighting in bathroom.
Great rooms, good spot in town. Downside is that you have to request room service, they will not clean your room if you dont ask them to.
Very clean Hotel. Very friendly staff. Awesome for long term stays.
Construction in front of the hotel didnt affect our visit. Comfy bed, large bathroom.
Rooms are clean and the water is hot. What else could you need
This hotel is our go to whenever we are in Minot and represents a good value. We appreciate the spacious rooms and kitchen, and breakfast is one of the better ones. Everything is clean and the staff have been great.
The rooms are great, each having a kitchenette with a full size fridge and a ice maker built in the freezer. Much better then an average size hotel room and having to run around looking for ice!We had a few issues we addressed the front desk staff about, it seemed some were passing the buck of addressing our concerns but Kristen went above and beyond to help make everything better and fix our issues.Would definitely stay there again and recommend the hotel. We used to always stay at the mall hotel, this was soooo much better for our needs if your not into a pool and water slides. Thanks again Kristen, we appreciated your honesty, personality and getting things sorted out.
This could be a nice stop, but.... Ok the bed was comfortable but the room door required a hard push to close or open, (it did not lock on its own), the TV was broken with a note taped on it directing the customer to manually tune it from the unit "each time you turn it on", several electric outlets did not work, the some tile were loose in the bathroom, etc. Too bad, apparently no one cares about maintenance!
We are baffled how this hotel received so many 5 stars . The door to our room appeared to have been broken into . It didn’t appear that the baseboards in the bathroom had been cleaned . They were filthy . You have to request to have your room cleaned - they say it’s for COVID reasons . Yet , no sanitizing , sneeze guards at front desk or masks . Merely an excuse .No WIFI in our room. We were from out of country and didn’t want to pay for roaming on our phones . They have the old Ethernet cords for computer . Would not allow us to check out within 15 minutes of arriving and give a refund . Could not give notice for next evening as it has to be by 4:00 the day before .Employees are not empowered to make decisions . Everything has to go through manager who is not there after 3:00We checked out a day early .
Was very impressed with this hotel. First time staying here and I will definitely be coming back. Nice and clean room. Plus it has a kitchen with a microwave (:
Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The room was nice and clean and we loved the full size fridge and freezer! We had food along so that was so nice. Breakfast was great tasting and plentiful. Overall Im very happy with my experience in every way except the bed. It was noticeably smaller than a king which is what I paid a bit extra to get. The pillows were just lumps of what feels like quilt batting. It was a very uncomfortable sleeping experience because of that. This is the sole reason for the 3 stars. In every other way it was a 5 star experience, but the bed situation kind of ruined it for us.PS for truck drivers. It is too tight to fit a full length semi truck in the lot when its full of cars, but just down from the hotel is a little gravel truck parking pull off right alongside the road that fits 3 trucks front to back. Very easy walking distance to the hotel door and no one bothers the truck.
Nice sized suite with a kitchen, living room, separate king sized bedroom with large closets. Quiet air conditioning.
Rooms are very nice and clean and its in the perfect location. Right across from Walmart.
Fantastic hotel! Check in was a breeze. Hotel provides dinner on Wednesday nights and a hot breakfast every morning. Omelettes and breakfast sandwiches were great. The beds are very comfortable, plenty of towels and pillows and the space of the room was perfect. The bathtub/shower was spotless and we loved the full size fridge/kitchenette. Will stay here every time we visit Minot!!
I liked it except for the room that we had, we couldnt close the heavy light blocking curtains! I kept tugging on them at night to close them, then I looked up at the rail and saw that they are not functional, only for decoration. Not cool. There was only the really sheer white curtains that anyone would be able to see in your room or youd get car headlights shining on you. 😡 The comforter on one bed was so lumpy that I thought someone left clothing behind and that the bed got made over them... time to swap out the comforter...
Affordable; clean; good location in minot; friendly staff; and good breakfast….what’s not to like!
Had a layover with work and spent a weekend here. Rooms are clean. Beds are comfortable. Breakfast in the morning is your standard fair but with hot options which was nice. Short walk to a Walmart and decent dining and bars. I would highly recommend it! Only recommendation would be for them to upgrade to USB compatible charging devices.
Room was clean and very comfortable my only complaint was there was no hair dryer, I have long hair so thats a must, and the pressure in the shower was a little low.
Its hard not to love this place...friendly helpful staff, nice room tho the lighting is a bit weak and a very competitive price along with a mid-week complimentary evening meal make this a great place to stay...exactly the opposite of my stay in the Dickinson ND Hawthorn last fall.
I think this hotel will be our new place to stay when we are in Minot. The hotel was clean, staff was very friendly and courteous, bed was actually comfortable and they had a good breakfast that didnt consist of all prepackaged garbage.
The double queen room was spacious, the small kitchenette was a godsend when you have to stay with an infant. The beds werent the best, my back was killing me after day 2 of my 3 day stay. The water pressure was poor so showering took longer just to get clean. I was supposed to stay a 4th night but had to leave a day early due to a familial issue. It was the next day that we realized that my brothers gaming headset had fallen off the dresser and was left behind. We called and was told no headset was turned in and that sometimes housekeeping doesnt get to clean the rooms right away and that it may turn up the next day. I left my name and number but no return call. I called back Saturday and was told the headset was found but would not be shipped until I spoke with management the next day.
The room was clean and spacious. Very nice. Overnight person was rude. I felt like she couldn’t be bothered and had no desire to interact. We were a bother to her. Day people were very nice.
Upon arriving to the hotel I was promptly greeted with an aroma of sewage that permeated my nostrils. Much to my relief I was assigned a room on the fourth floor which had the distinct smell of the devils lettuce, honestly it was refreshing and bread jealousy but only for a short while as it faded the closer I got to my room. Once I entered what was slated to be my abode for the evening I was greeted by another more pungent odor, urine. Unable to discern where this was coming from I returned to the front desk to get a new room, only to be told I booked through a third party so they couldn’t change the room. With a perplexing look on my face I continued to lobby in the lobby to make a room change, which was finally obliged. The next room just smelled musky so I dealt with it and slept for 5 hours.
Nice clean room and comfortable. Really set up for long stays. Full kitchen with full size fridge and stovetop. More than I needed for one night. No restaurants in walking distance.
Excellent hotel! Room was super clean, very cold AC, kitchenette had all that we needed and more, very spacious room with large work desk, great shower and nice toiletries. Will stay here again if/when in area!
Very nice rooms, check in was very easy, paid a $10 pet fee, large room with full kitchen, comfortable bed and recliner. Would definitely stay here again. Good continental breakfast also. Friendly staff.
We stayed for two nights to rest on our trip. Very good value for the money. Room was clean and spacious with a full size fridge and kitchenette to cook. Beds were very comfortable and the desk is food for multipurpose use. The staff was super helpful and accommodating. Make sure to turn on the ice maker in your room right away so you have ice in the morning. There are several restaurants across the street as well as a Walmart for items you need. The only issue we had was waiting for laundry as some of the machines were out of order which they were made aware. Overall a great stay and wed recommend them.
Staff was super friendly and personable. Rooms are very large and have full kitchenettes. The desk is also much bigger than what you usually get. Was pleasantly surprised.
Clean! Quiet! Friendly! This is my home away from home when I come to Minot! I have stayed here before, but when I arrived in town I was thinking I’d save $12 a night and I stayed at a different hotel. I couldn’t check out of that place fast enough the next morning. I came back here to the Hawthorn and I will ALWAYS stay here from now on when I’m in town. Chanda was very friendly and accommodating when I checked in. Kevin always had a smile and friendly hello. Dustin and the rest of the housekeeping crew do an amazing job! There is a little wear and tear on some of the furniture, but that’s ok with me because it is CLEAN! I spilled coffee on the tile floor in the kitchen area and when I went to wipe it up, the towel was clean except for the light brown from the coffee. Keep up the good work crew! It matters! All the front desk people including May ALWAYS greeted me and were friendly. I cannot tell you how much that matters. Sometimes when I’m here checking on a loved family member, my trip is difficult and their friendliness is much appreciated. Oh! And there’s always coffee available and they have breakfast included with your stay. And there’s meat, not just cereal and muffins, although they do have those as well. I would definitely recommend staying here. It is SO worth the extra $12 a night.
Breakfast was horrible but I get it, covid-19 and all. Rooms are very comfortable, the room we stayed in had everything we needed to cook and silverware. Perfect spot with walmart right across the street and places to eat. Employees were always nice. I wish there were just better options for their free breakfast.
Reasonably priced, however this is hotel was not a high quality build and its obvious some maintenance has been put off. This hotel was obviously built for the oil boom to be used by long term oil field workers. Minot has quite a few hotels built within the last 10 years, and many of their lots are mostly empty with the oil business slowing in the area.First thing that happened was my card key didnt work in the East door. Two people came up and tried to help me get in, the first guys key didnt work in that door either. Second guy wiggled his until it finally opened. Both said, "yea this door is really finicky." It looked rough too. The second issue we had was waking up at 3:00 AM to a smoke detector with a low battery warning going off every 30 seconds with four beeps. We were five rooms away and it was loud enough to wake my wife and I up. Actually the snoring from the next room woke my wife up, the beeps kept her awake. The fact that the snoring was so loud in our room goes to the lack of quality in the build I mentioned above. Not being able to sleep, I went to the front desk and asked to be moved to a different room. I showed her a video of the smoke detector beeping and she told me that it had been going off since at least 11:00 PM when she came on....to work....in a hotel.....where people are sleeping. Genius. As if all that wasnt enough, the rooms have full size refrigerators in them, but theyre really cheap with loud compressors that kick on and off. I just turned our fridge off but I dont know how long term residents put up with it.There are too many options in Minot for hotels right now, this one needs to try harder.
Rooms are clean and comfortable, Ive had a kitchenette suite for 5 days for work. Friendly staff, and during this Corona, I just go to the desk or call for things I need. Towels, shampoo, etc. Nice place and ill stay again.
Exceptional customer service from all employees! Very sweet people from the front desk to the house keeping. Location is nice and near a lot of restaurants and stores. Shower was a weirdly designed, but it was clean. Only real annoyance were the blinds. They don’t close, so when the sun comes up you’re immediately awaken depending on what side of the hotel you’re on. The breakfast wasn’t anything to look at, but they have rooms with kitchenettes where you can make your own! Overall, for the price we had a good time. Main attraction was the amazing customer service! You don’t find that everywhere.
Excellent rooms for the price. The staff was friendly when checking in. The room had a kitchenette which is a plus when you are away from home. Felt safe here-in comparison to the previous hotel before checking into this one. Would highly recommend and will be my first choice.
Hotel rooms have good amenities. Clean. Good breakfast, free dinner on Wednesday. Staff is pretty good. However the owners must be cheap. They have 2 working dryers and 3 working washers for the whole hotel. They have 2 rooms for laundry, and one is completely shut off "out of order"This place needs help. No one should have to sit around and wait for 70 minutes to hopefully wash their clothes. 3 of the 4 dryers available "run" but only 2 actually dry. Washers. 3 of the 4 washers run, but only 2 actually function properly. My advice. Go next door to the candlewood.
I cannot say enough good things about this hotel! This is by far my favorite hotel Ive ever stayed at. The staff are all very friendly and work very hard to make this hotel so amazing I highly recommend this hotel!
The rooms and hotel are very clean and comfortable. The showers are relaxing and hot. However, the dishwasher in the room is the loudest Ive been around and the wifi is the slowest I have experienced in this era. If your remote work depends on good wifi, stay somewhere else.
