Best Fish in Town!

Very beautiful atmosphere, that I have to admit. Nice river view. But the food was not good. For the price it was totally not worth it. Veeery small portion, and quite tasteless. Is it a purpose to not use even salt? Maybe, I dont know... I expected something else.That being said, the staff was very friendly, smiling and plain amazing

The foods are absolutely delicious here in Havfruen. And apart from delicious foods, what makes the experience more wonderful is their excellent service. All the staffs are very attentive, friendly, helpful, and have good initiatives. Eating here is highly recommended.

Beautiful place. Visited twice out of three days in Trondheim. Very tasty food, gourmet level. All dishes are imaginative. Good friendly service. Recommended to visit.

Wonderful experience here! We came and were accommodated without a reservation. The wait staff was very attentive, and the chef personally greeted us at our table and made sure our food was cooked correctly and to our liking. My wife ordered halibut and I ordered octopus - both very delicious and exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend eating here.

California resident and seafood expert talking here. This was one of the best dinners I have had in TRD in 5 years. The service was excellent, the food was unforgettable. The menu is very specific, so dont come here with someone expecting to be order a burger or steak! This is a modern Norske seafood spot with fantastic chefs who use fresh ingredients for sure, and are quite creative and complex in their plating. AWESOME. Next time in TRD I will be back, with more people! BTW - The fried fish skin snack were wonderful, maybe better than the pork ones I eat in California!!! Well done to the Havfruen team! Thank you again!

I returned to Trondheim for my NTNU 10 year graduation anniversary and Havfruen was suggested. What an exceptional dining experience. I was luckily offered a table by the windows with a terrific view of the river. Dinner was perfectly prepared, served, and tasted delicious.

We dropped by on a Saturday evening. Lucky to get a table! Amazing place with a quaint view over the river and fabulous fish dishes and atmosphere. Recommended.

We chose the fish of the week for dinner. We received wonderfully prepared pollock with wasabi sauce and baked potatoes. Its rare for me to be so satisfied after the meal. Well-Deserved applause for the chef.In addition, friendly and competent service, interiors adapted from an old warehouse in the historical part of Trondheim create a unique and pleasant atmosphere.I recommend this place without any reservations.

If you are hesitating to have a meal here, Id recommend you to eat here. I had the salmon and it was very tasty. You get bread and water and the staff is friendly and polite. The choice on the menu is limited but the quality is excellent. A plus point for me was that you can look into the kitchen and see the chefs cook. I found it rather entertaining.

Tasty food, cozy and nice interior with a good view of the kitchen and if youre lucky enough to sit next to the window, youll have a nice view of the Nidelva.

This is a great place for delicious (sea)food and our waiter was very friendly and serviceminded when we ate there today! We will definetly go back :-)

I was treated to a wonderful Norwegian dinner of cod, fish eggs and fish liver with vegetables, on recommendation of my local friend. The food was delicious and I would highly recommend a visit.

Good seafood, but this year they put salty melted butter on the lutefisk, and that was no success

Excellent fish but poor service...

If you stay in Trondheim, and you are looking for a special culinary experience, Havfruen is very much recommended for you. The dishes we tasted were all delicious, good combination of flavours, excellent garnishes (I loved the grilled cabbage).

Had the 8-course taster menu, great choice to try lots of dishes and overall big portion. The restaurant is right by the river and a window table is most ideal.

Although Im not a regular seafood eater, I liked the place. I ordered Asian mussels soup, and it was ... Delicious !! They served the dishes in quite asthetic way. They had a good service as well. It is bit expensive, but worth for a rare occasion.

By far the best fish in town

Great fish, shellfish and whale (when available). The others in my party said the meat was also great but I felt it would be a shame to not have seafood at a place that makes it this well.The wine and spirits selection is good, beer selection is brilliant.Been here twice and am definitely going back whenever Im in Trondheim.

Maybe the best fish restaurant in Trondheim, but it also offers amazing views. Wasnt crowded at all (Monday). Service is very attentive and multi-lingual, including German. And while the food was great, it wasnt overly expensive at all. Especially the shrimp starter is HUGE and a great deal!

Recommended by the staff at my hotel I called in on the off chance. Greeted with a smile by a waiter who immediately stopped what he was doing to speak to me. I was quickly seated and a menu delivered. The waitress who struggled slightly with English but non the less persevered and constantly with a friendly smile.I chose the set 3 course menu which consisted of mussels, cod and a panna cotta based dessert. The mussels starter was plentiful and the mussels themselves plump and perfectly cooked. The cod loin had a herb crust and was also beautifully cooked, it tasted divine and melted in the mouth. The dessert had a mix of fresh and stewed summer berries on the panna cotta and again was delicious.Service was excellent without being obtrusive. My only complaint was typical of how lone diners are treated in many restaurants, given a table in the corner with no view. This restaurant in an old riverside warehouse has lovely views over the water.If ever Im in Trondheim again I will return.

Delicious seafood, great service (thanks Helle!and wonderful locale/interior. Adult prices, but well worth it. If youre visiting Trondheim and like seafood then Havfruen is highly recommended.
