Hausbrauerei Altstadthof - Microbrewery in Furth, Germany
Hausbrauerei Altstadthof in Furth
Description
Privilege
Super rude treatment if you’re a tourist. Seems like they’re nice to locals though
MoreThe oldest and best brewery in Nuremberg!Excellent beer and excellent cuisine!A must try!
MoreUpdated menu 09/03/22Amazing beer but not as cold as it should be. Service was good.
MoreStaff during the daytime are really nice, and food was lovely. During the evening its a different story. Its like as if the back terrace and front staff dont get on. We arrived at 8 pm looking for a table, back terrace staff told us to go to the bar. When I asked about all the free tables I was informed the back closes soon and everyone moves inside! (its 8pm? 🤔. Bar staff then telling us to go out the back for more space (we had a buggy). We went over and back between them a few times and just gave up. Very disappointing.
MoreExcellent beer cant wait to do their tour on a few days time
Unfortunately the Service is very bad. We were doing a trip in the region and we wanted to try the Brauerei, we asked for a table and the waitress told us the table was reserved, then we said ok, we just Want a Beer in case there is something , instead giving and option or look for an alternative she said „ ich habe keine Zeit „. Great Service .
MoreIf youre looking for some delicious beer and outstanding whisky, Hausbrauerei Altstadthof is the place for you. The PX whisky is especially noteworthy. However, the service could be friendlier.
MoreThis flight was a nice way to sample some of the brewers beers. I did feel like a total tourist, due to the high amount of tourists there.
MoreBest beer in Nürnberg, great food and ambience. Good location near the castle too
MoreWe have been in Europe for 3 months now and this was the worst meal weve had and it was very expensive. Our pork medallions were like shoe leather and the beans and potatoes had no seasoning. Our beers were decent but again expensive.
MoreGreat beers and great food! Was quite crowded on Saturday but on Sunday we got ourselves a table.Bottled beers for takeaway (1ltrfor a good price, only with €3 deposit.
MoreTheir rotbier (a Nürnberg local speciality), was very good and actually surprised me since I’m not usually much of a beer drinker. I didn’t get food there, just beer, but it looked good. Servers are friendly and speak English well.
MoreVery good selection of beers and different interesting distilled spirits from beers. There is also the option to get a wide variety of German whiskey. The food was great and the service was attentive and nice. The restaurant has a courtyard in the back that gives a nice private feel, but to be seated there you most likely would have to make a reservation.
MorePerfect local brewery, with very polite lady at the bar!!!!I’ve tried all the local beers and can say, that Rot weizen was just amazing!!!Usually I admire more helles or pilsner beers. And in rare cases dark one. But here, weizen it’s a must, also really recommend to lovers of dark beers to try it here! It’s worth it!The prices was just fair and I was really happy with overall experience! Will be back here next time I’m in town!
MoreStopped in for some Rotbier and Nürnberg bratwurst - Really nice views as the street is bustling with people.
MoreService is a little slow as there is a one women team. But beer and wine were great. The food was amazing
MoreGood food and friendly staff.
Interesting tour, primarily about beer production in Nuremburg with a little bit of wartime information at the start of the tour. The guide was friendly and informative. It was implied that there was a free trading of beer/whisky at the end of the tour whereas in fact you get 1 euro discount per ticket and its a case of going to the attached restaurant to order it.
MoreThe kitchen was closed (Monday 20.30so we just ordered their Rotbeer (Redand the Dunkel. Nice beers the Red wasnt as good as most reviews suggest. The dunkel was better.
MoreGreat beer tour in old cellar. Super beer and the perfect visky.
Only visited here for beers but they were really nice. Service was a but slow as it seemed they only had 1 person on for the entire pub. Prices for beers seem a bit more than other places but that could be because the beers are brewed by the pubGreat location right near the castle.
MoreFantastic ambiance with even better drinks, which are all made on site. Food is great with good service. The server had made a mistake with an order and was so sorry she gave us comped schnapps. Went above and beyond.
MoreVery pleasant bar and beer garden. Friendly staff. Had the rot Weißbier and goulash. Very enjoyable meal.
MoreReally nice place with nice Bavarian and local beers to tasteAlso theres a hidden garden at the back
MoreBest Rotbier that we tasted in Nürnberg! Definitely worth to order the Tasting pallet with different beer varieties and a small beer schnaps. The Rotbier and Schnaps were just phenomenal! We had the snack plate with a variety of meats and obazda, goes so well with the beer! They have a bunch of tables out front, very cute to sit and enjoy the atmosphere.
MoreMy favorite brewery in the world. The rotbier is off the charts. People also love their homemade liquors. Also a tasty menu of local favorites. If it’s open, try out the big Biergarten down the alley behind the main bar.
MoreSimple, franconian dishes with homemade beer - we enjoyed a wonderful summer evening
MoreFood was amazing and best bet Ive had in Germany so far!
We recently spent a few days in Nuremburg and stopped by Hausbrauerei Altstadthof along Bergstraße. Opening hours are 11am to 12am daily. This is a brewery that seems to have been here for other 30 years, brewing speciality beers including the locally famous red beer which dates back to the 14th-century in Nuremburg. This is a neat traditional bar with a dark interior, quite a few visitors at the time of our visit. They serve food and drinks. We tried the dark beer and a the special red beer. Both were fine, not favourites of ours nor anything bad. Service was rather slow during our visit, just one person taking care of the entire seating area.Overall, not a bad place for a round of beers after a few hours of sightseeing around the city. Wed consider stopping here again in the future.
MoreGood beers. The brewery also organizes guided tours in underground cellars, brewhouse and distillery.
MoreThe best place with the best Nurenberg food and red beer in Nurenberg! The food are perfectly done and has fantastic taste! We strongly recommend the Red Beer, Schaufele, and Brew master’s steak
MoreI like the vibe and the beer was a nice local representation of Germany. Service was helpful: our bar tender recommended the flight so we could try all of them for a good price. The Rotbier was my favourite and what Nuremberg is known for.
MoreAfter a tour in the catacombs, you have the chance to see Nurnbergs distillery of its finest beer and spirits
MoreI loved it its great and try to sample all the stuff there everything is tastythe red beer is the best 🤩🤩🤩🤩Ps the last tour closes at 5 the bar is till 12 so be sure to come before 5pm
More- go here for the tradition rotbier. Itgreat taste- they brew on location 3 types: helles, dunkel and rotbier- i also tried what used to be a traditionl meal in nuremberg but now can be hardly found: ochsenmaulsalat (ox cheek salat). Its interesting, somehow jelly like with vinegar and it goes well with the rotbier
MoreA great little place with a range of homebrews beer, whisky and maltliqour we came back to this place several times over the visit. Marina looked after us brilliantly and I would recommend a visit - get the selection platter and try them all!
MoreReally nice place, relaxed friendly atmosphere, more locals than tourists. Quite small only a few tables for food service (I dont believe they want people eating at the barand depending on where you are seated you could be right next to other diners. We got there around 6pm on a Wednesday and even though they had the tables reserved they said we could still sit provided we were done within the hour, that was no problem for us!Portions were very big, food tasted great and their house beer was very nice. Waitress was friendly and spoke English too.
MoreSmall, very cozy place in the middle of old town. In fact just one room, not more than 20 people can fit inside. They have three kinds of beer - red, dark and weiss. All of them full and rich, sweet and malty. You can have a taster with 3 x 0,2. The menu is very simple, mostly traditional - we had onion soup and sausages with cabbage. Great is that the service is very fast, you dont have to wait long. Still, as for me it was not perfect as (for exampleyou cant have fried potatoes or something like this. Also they have a collection of local gin & liquors, which you can take as a taster too.
MoreAwesome place for a beer. The rotbier should be the go to for anyone visiting Nuremberg for. Weekend. The food also is quite good, the menu has your standard Bavarian fare. Definitely recommend to anyone in the area or anyone planning to be in the area.
MoreBeer is mediocre to good, but interesting. Place feels intimate, almost Irish. Great service. Try the moonshine! English spoken.
MoreWell worth the hilly climb from the main train station, this micro brewery and distillery must make some of the finest beer in Nuremberg, not to mention all their spirits use beer in the production which is very unique. The food menu was really interesting with beer playing a part in many dishes. Everything we ordered was well-executed and presented extremely well. The friendly, efficient service made for an absolutely fantastic visit to what I feel is a major must-see when in Nuremberg.
MoreVery tasty food and great beer! We enjoyed our dinner very much! There are different rooms / areas (bar, beer garden, restaurantall with the same menu and beers - so you can just stay wherever you feel most comfortable. Our waitress in the indoor bar was very friendly and hospitable.
MoreGood food, good brewery. Nice outdoor area, service was good. Also the starting point for the historical felsengange tour. This is a bit underrated tour through the tunnel system underneath this part of the city. Really interesting history: from breweries that used it to store beer in the Middle Ages to sheltering in the Second World War. Guide was good, not possible to visit this labyrinth on your own (too bad). You can buy tickets at hausbrauerei-altstadthof, this is where the tour also starts and ends with a small beer/whiskey tasting. Take a jacket with you, 10 degrees in the tunnels.
More+ good whiskey+ good traditional beers8 euro ticket entrance7 euro for studentsYou visit the tunnels and you can taste the beer+ restaurant+ shopping store
MoreTried to get in a couple of days previous but it was very busy so we came back for a few beers, we had the meter long beer tasting and found out very quickly how good the beer was. It was decided we would stay for food, small menu but the food was very good.
MoreNice place with excellent beer. The staff works hard to serve well everybody. The place can get quite full. Don’t expect to come in the weekends and easily find an empty table. You may have to wait for a while. For Nürnberg, the price is ok.Enjoy your visit to taste the beers and brands from the house. You can taste the beers from the house for €10.80, which includes 4x 200ml beers + 1x 20ml Bockbierbrand.
MorePerhaps not as cool as more trendy new brewpubs in town, this place does better bratwurst and the few beers Ive had have all been well made. It gets back due to its touristy location but if in the area and its not too busy, its well worth dropping in for a Dunkles.
MoreVery enjoyable evening. Service excellent. Choice of beers very good. Limited menu, portions large, food ok.
MoreSo the beer is top notch, the over worked staff not so much, but I’d not blame them that much. However I must take issue with their bread, the following is not crusty white rolls as promised in the menu, if you do decide to question this, expect a sharp rebuttal
MoreThey also distill their own whiskey. The beer is good, service is attentive in the small space. Tried a few brews and none were bad at all. Nuremberger sausages and other items on the menu are standard fare available almost anywhere else. Worth a visit for beer, food and spirits if able to get a table and even advise on a reservation.
