Hartford Marina, Huntingdon Rd, Wyton, Huntingdon PE28 2AA, San Marino
Chain pub/restaurant serving classic comfort food, with kids' and dessert menus.
Good priced wholesome food and drinks. Went for the cavery, was not disappointed. Had to wait awhile for a table but we did go at their busyest time. The staff were all helpful and seemed happy in there work. A very nice afternoon out.
I booked this pub a wk in advance for a special occasion because I knew it had a fantastic view and I asked for a marina view. On arrival there was nobody to greet us and after 10 mins we found someone and we were shown to a dark table as far away from the marina as poss and were told its that or nothing. We then had the carvery ( which was very nicebut one poor man carving the meat and filling all the veg. It was so unfair and overwhelming for him. The queue was enormous. It spoilt the whole experience.
Came in today for lunch with my mum and grandma after trying somewhere else nearby that had no dairy free options.Mentioned to Chef Sam when we went up to get our carvery and he could not of been anymore helpful, went through what i can and can’t eat, offered to cook me fresh veg etc. Sam is very clearly an absolute asset to the bussiness and i personally want to thank him for putting the effort in to make sure my lunch was both delicious and safe for me.
Very pleasant pub/ restaurant on the Marina very pleasant staff . Was greeted upon arrival by a very helpful member of staff young guy called Cameron who was very friendly and welcomingWe chose to have the carvery which was very nice and good value at £7.99 for a medium, I think a large was £8.99We will definitely return soonOh and good for children and people with disabilities
We went for lunch on my birthday. The carvery was excellent with three meat choices. Lots of lovely veggies, Yorkshire puds, stuffing and gorgeous gravy! I would definitely recommend this pub for a carvery lunch.Cameron (a member of staffwas really welcoming and we chatted to him for some time. Hope you enjoy London for your birthday @Cameron!We would definitely return to this pub!
I visited last night (16/9/22to enjoy my birthday meal with my family. It was busy but we were seated straight away. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will most definitely be back.Thank you to Nicole behind the carvery counter. Great customer service 👍
Food was tasty and very good, the staff were the best 😃Thanks so much for making my friends birthday lunch a wonderful time xx. Will most definitely be back soon . Pudding was my favourite lol
Great pub, under pressure when we went due to staff shortages in other venues close by. Great carvery and nice atmosphere. Very polite and helpful staff.Sitting out overlooking the marina rounded off a nice evening.
Nice setting, Good choice of menu, delicious food and value for money…attentive staff. Thank you Carl Cameron for a very pleasant first time experience!! Will definitely visit again very soon!!
Repeat guest. Service very good . We had a mixture of food , Carvery was excellent, cheeseburger and chips was very moist and tender … and the mixed grill was fab ! Only had room for coffee and cake , had carrot cake which was very good 👍
This review is also partially for CAM the waitress,(Ive always been to the Carvery few times with my family growing up and always had excellent food. The service has never failed me and the quality of the food always was delicious and enjoyable. It was my boyfriends last day in the UK and so he enjoyed his last meam very much)Our waitress was very enjoyable and energetic, always had a smile whenever he came over. He caught my table and family playing Pokemon Go and thats how it sparked up. (Apologies for my mother constantly calling him back to the table. My mother was very excited that a stranger also played itOther than that, he has definitely made our family night out better. We all agreed he seems to love his job or just very enjoyable person to be around. Gave us some few laughs, here and there.Thank you Cam, and the wonderful food the place offered! This also is not a bribe for you to knock us out of the Pokemon Gym anyway. We will be back
Next to the set piece of the Marina. The Hartford Mill Pub is hard to miss. On a sunny day it has a vista next to it.As a pub it has lovely family friendly architecture and a welcoming vibe.On entering the main area is split into two. The bar where all ordering is done and the carvery. The carvery was popular on our visit even with the blazing sun. It looked very well done and well consumed but I find a roast on a very hot day not my favorite so can only say that those enjoying it looked like they were having a fab time. All the prosThe staff are super friendly. Happy to provide guidance, quick to serve and also doing gentle checks in. Just the kind of warm service everyone appreciates. The outdoor section is delightful. All the tables have full parasols. You can see the marina and also have a wooden area that has more sun cover. The food is beautifully served. Photos below. It came out hot and relatively quickly. It was really nicely put together and tasted great. My colleague also asked for some gentle amendments and they were happy to provide.Parking is pretty ample bearing in mind the marina itself. Best to roll around a bit to end of the parking as the front section gets a bit crammed.Minor consThe outside area for the back is just beyond the carvery and its a bit of a fiddle to get to if you are coming from the bar or the toilets. If you try to squeeze past it can be a bit of a pain. The line for the carvery is directly in front of the area for condiments and the outside door sadly. In line with the parking, I wasnt sure if there was a limit to time beyond time drinking and eating nor if the parking was specifically for the restaurant or the Marina as a whole. I do wonder if all the people who utilised that section actually stayed at the venue. On busier days it must be a fiddle for space.
Really nice resruarant with a very large outdoor patio overlooking a beautiful Inlet of water. Lots of long boats and bird life, such a peaceful setting looking across the water. We had the basics... chicken strips these are definitely for kids as they are small and appear to.be a packaged product, wings were cooked to perfection (crispy, juicy and tenderand a bacon cheeseburger w/ cheddar cheese chips(friescooked just right. Yes I would go back anytime and definitely try either the fish and chips or the carving station, both looked amazing as well. No table service, but food came to us quite quickly and it was still hot....yeah!!!
Late lunch early dinner today we havent been here for a while and wasnt disappointed, honest pub Grub nothing fancy and was alright.Would I go again? Yeah I think I would not the place to go if you want something posh and fancy, if you want something with a bit more style you will need to go to another place and pay a lot more for the food.
Nice evening out with some good friends. Ordinary menu with no fancy stuff and a lovely carvery. Staff all very friendly and attentive. Beautiful and relaxing view of the marina.
Was seated in the garden lovely afternoon. Food came out quite quickly. Nice setting next to the river. Very peaceful... I had a home made surry all the trimmings my son has chicken strips.
Was a great atmosphere and lovely surroundings but the food let it down. Overcooked sausages. Greasy batter and stringy chicken. Alone with watered down soft drinks . Staff were friendly and approachable. However hygiene standards need to be addressed. One carvery chef kept scratching his head between serving and eating the off cuts so hand to mouth actions before using knives to cut customers food
Very busy as expected for a Sunday lunch period but well worth the wait of around 10 later than the booked time. Food on offer excellent with a wide range of vegetables from the carvery. A very enjoyable and tasty lunch
When we got there they only had one of our bookings instead of two, and the member of staff taking our booking informed us it may have been cancelled due to a communication error. They got us seated and made sure another table was available for the time the rest of our group was arriving which was nice, as they were busy. However, food took a while to arrive and when it did, mine arrived with a hair in it and a dirty plate. When my partner asked for a replacement, the man serving was very friendly and apologised to us.The coffees were nice, but service was a little slow, understandable since it was a Sunday, but a few times our drinks were left sitting on the bar for a while before being taken over. All in all, was an okay place to go. Good for drinks, but maybe wont order food again.
Fun night - 13 of us went for a night out and had lots of fun. Despite the long wait we were able to banter with the staff each time they appeared from the kitchen area, wondering whether it was our order, which they took all in good fun and it was a particularly busy night, with few staff, but they did their uttermost. The food was very good when it arrived. The bar staff were brilliant and the waiters had a great sense of humour. This was my first time at the Hartford Mill, but I shall certainly go back. The service and food was excellent on our latest visit today, which is one of the hottest days in recorded history(41C). Kelly was the chef and massive shout out to her! Kelly you did a great job, our food was perfect! Also Sue (Nannywas super lovely and made sure we had everything we needed.
My family and I went out for a meal. We had to wait for over 35 minutes for the 2 last meals to be served. We spoke to Emily who was so helpful and finally we received our food. Because we had waited for so long as a kind gesture we were offered 2 deserts for free. We enjoyed our food. Emily came to check if everything was okay. Her customer service was great.
Ate dinner last night wasnt impressed with the toilet facility at all we were there just after 6pm when I went to the mens this is what I found and the board stated it was checked between 5 and 6pm. When I spoke to the guy behind the bar he said he checked it and will let someone know I left it and after our dinner I went back to see if it was cleaned and was still just as I found it. Hence the reason for this review. The food is really good but this just put me off completely I have removed the photo as the manager is looking into it thank you. Reason I put photo cause nothing was done and I wanted to use the toilet
Their carvery is one of the best meals in the area. You can opt for a small, medium or large plate. However as you serve yourself with the veg, etc you can take as much or as little of this food as you like. The Mill serves the delicious meat of either turkey, gammon or beef and this is piled high too.
A bit of a shambles to be honest.Tables were absolutely filthy even after staff came to clean them. All of our meals came out at entirely different times despite all ordering ordering one after another and to the same table. The food wasnt great but that was the least of the issues.Out server interjected into a conversation, which wasnt a problem, but because they did so they werent paying attention to all the plates they were holding and taking from the table and ended up spilling sauce, and food all over the table - luckily it didnt end up on anyones lap or face. All in all it just wasnt a pleasant experience
We went here for a family meal as the location looked excellent overlooking the river.Floor was absolutely covered with food, not just near our table but everywhere.Baby change/disabled toilet was disgusting, should always check a restaurants toilet first and then you know the kitchens just as bad and staff don’t care. Should of left there and then.We ordered two vegetarian carverys, staff put it through wrong so it meant we had to wait for our pies to be cooked, baring in mind kids had already finished their dinner by this point. One of the pies came out and presented to me with half of the pastry missing and someone’s hair. My other half tried his and it was absolutely awful anyway not worth the hassle.Vegetables and other things offered at the carvery bar were awful to look at and tasted just how they looked. Soggy. We had to wait 10 minutes just for a staff member to come out and serve cold Yorkshire puddings. We had a child’s pizza and chips, it came out and it was a Chicago town mini microwave pizza, just made me laugh at how pathetic it was.The Manager dealt with this situation by giving a refund back for only two of the meals. Baring in mind what we had gone through and finding a hair you would of thought a whole refund.Definitely not going back.Reply to comment: the staff was not new and it was confirmed by your manager they were not new and that they should of know how to process it. As for the refund, you refunded my partners meal as he had to eat separately to the whole family because of the mistake the staff member made. You then refund us for two of our drinks. Just because a partial refund was given does not mean that I wouldn’t give a review for the bad experience had.
Having been here on a few occasions to treat our grandchildren, we were disappointed last night at the service and the length of time we were waiting for our meals. A couple of our party had starters which arrived pretty much on time but then after an hour I asked about our main meals only to be told these were on hold but if we had been told this we would have asked sooner, so after waiting another 20 mins we eventually got our meals, so if this could be communicated with the waiting on staff it would have been much better.
Nice location adjacent to lake. Varied selection on menu including carvery. Served by attentive Cam who sorted all our special requirements. Need a good appetite as portion are generous.
We (a family of 6love coming to the pub, our kids love the play area and the lovely staff in there just take such care in interacting with the kids inside the play area and out. The food is always good loads of variety for my fussy lot lol, we always look forward to coming back time and time again
Initially we called to reserve a table, with it being Sunday afternoon we knew it would be busy and thought we would prepare for the worst but they said they dont take reservations yet when we arrived various tables have a reserved sign on them. We had ordered food to go outside but then decided to go inside as it wasnt as warm as we had hoped. We notified the staff of the move and they said they had altered this. We had also been told they will give us a ten minute warning for our food so the other two members of our party could go up and get their carvery but instead our food went straight past us and the other half of our party then had to queue which meant we had finished by the time they sat down to eat.We asked a young lady to get us some hot sauce and some napkins because we had to get our own cutlery and she looked us blank in the face and never showed up with them. Then we asked someone called Cam who got them right away and was helpful. The food was OK my burger was cheesy which was lush but the onion rings where under cooked as well as the chips. I have been here before and had a good experience but sadly not this time.
Main food was really nice, pudding was over cooked (yorkie thing). Didnt really have any staff interaction but could see groups of them chatting near tables.Tables clean but floors filfy with food. I imagine as it was late on a Saturday it may usually be nicer?
Ive only given 5 stars for the service we recieved from a guy called Cam, he was polite and very helpful. I hope this company rewards good staff and encourages them to progress further within the brand. The food was basic and what youd expect for the price.
Had it before and it was a good selection. Disappointing that when you click and collect the carvery they do it for you still. No choice in what you have in regards to veg as they put a little of it all on. Unhappy and unimpressed due to not liking the choice when I don’t like half of what is in there. Had an actual choice when I chose the option of 2 good to go. Quality of food is good, but not what was expected, nor wanted.
ALWAYS a great carvery (we travel 50 minutes for this one😊). Extremely busy especially weekends. Good sized outside area with lots of tables and chairs and a pop up bar next to the marina. Wacky warehouse too. We go often, sitting outside in the sunshine with the dogs (cant take them inside). Staff always friendly. Recommend.
Come home from deployment and went out for a meal with family. Everything was good. From speed of services to the hosts and staff asking if we wanted anything else. Food was incredible. Very good night. Was very refreshing to see staff enjoy themselves at a restaurant job.
Brought my parents for lunch.Drinks menu is poorly designed, some product prices seem to be missing - a little misleading and maybe even unlawful, bar staff said I should ask for a price for a pint.Coffee machine not working, offered ‘instant’ at the same price, disappointing.Ordered the regular burger, a kids mini toad in the hole and two apple pies.Burger was simple, overcooked and a pathetic token poorly chopped ‘salad’ thrown on top of the patty, generous portion of chips didn’t take away the disappointment.Kids toad in the hole was fine, the apple pies were drowned in custard and poorly sliced and presented.Toilets stank of urine.I think this place is geared up to supply easy to please elderly locals with a very average looking carvery and the rest of the menu is superfluous. With robust management this place could be a diamond in the rough, as it is it’s just rough - staff appeared miserable and wanted to be anywhere else.Shame.
A nice evening out for a meal. A very nice place to have e a meal. The food was very good from the kids meal to the carvery. The staff are friendly and very helpful (Cam did great). The facilities are clean and I would recommend a visit.
We went here on a evening out with family from the States that we havent seen for 26 years carvery meat was lovely but the sides were dried up and not very nice, my son ordered a pizza from the childrens menu and received a microwave chicago town pizza, which I could have given him at home for quarter of the price! Ordered desserts and it took over an hour for them to arrive! Been here before and the experience was good but this time feel very let down.
If I could give zero stars I would, incredibly slow service, waited nearly an hour for possibly the worst meal I’ve ever had in a pub/restaurant. Had the ploughman’s, 2 slices of cheap nasty meat which I could barely eat, a few bits of crumbled up cheese, couple of lettuce leaves and not to forget a bland stodgy roll with some pickle. Garbage at best!!
A large group of us went after kayaking at Go Paddle yesterday (highly recommend!!). Food was cheap and cheerful, drinks good and service on the most part handled well. Only complaint was the waiter that brought our food out was rude and inappropriate. As he bought out one of the parties vegan meal he asked "whos is the disgusting vegan meal" also when asking whos another meal was asked "did anyone want this or not" its a shame as the rest of the staff were friendly and handled our party size well just one bad apple upset the group. My suggestion would be if you dont want to work in hospitality then dont but dont press upon paying customers your bad mood and lack of work ethic.
Proper carvery set up on a Sunday.... All good and very tasty... You cant book on a Sunday so you need to arrive and waited to be seated.... Lots of room outside if you dont want to wait... Choive of gammon, turkey or beef or selection of all 3 if you order a large plate..... About £11 each...
Great value delicious carvery. No difference in taste to more expensive place. Good seating outside in good weather.
Arrived early to eat Sunday lunch and got a table outside. Beautiful setting for a very reasonable priced Carvery. Wouldnt call it top quality food but for what we paid its what Id expect. Cheap & cheerful with great outdoor setting
Food tasted lovely, the staff are friendly and worked quickly even under immense pressure during super busy hours. Absolutely amazing prices! Only little thing was the line at the bar was always really long as there was minimum staff serving drinks on a hot and very busy day. It must be said the water that was put out made that wait completely painless. The view was beautiful. Overall a awesome place to go!
Excellent choice of food the carvery had an extensive choice and more importantly was hot when we arrived at the table The sharing pudding was immense
Amanda our waitress charming and helpful. We both had pie. Mine chicken and mushroom my husband had steak and ale .Both excellent. . No complaints whatever.
What a carvery! Couldnt move for half an hour after eating it. Nice staff, great food and reasonably priced
We had not been here for quite a while and had not properly enjoyed our food here.Carvery was delicious especially the beef...cant beat good beef..friendly staff.Atmosphere was lively and happyLoving the new lay out.Definitely going again
Was very busy when we arrived and very very wet outside, but was a lovely warm welcome as always, had a bit of a wait but as we had a cup of tea while we chatted and caught up, didnt mind waiting. Had a lovely carvery and apple pie n ice cream. For me and a Eton mess for my lovely friend for her birthday treat. Thank you!!!!
Great family vibe, pets were welcome, food was GREAT. Our waiters had a hard explaining to us that drinks menu change quarterly over the years so we wanted something resembling Sangria, that we had last year but was now off the menu list. So settled to make our own Gin floating fruity mix instead. As you can see portions are generious and their carvery freshly roasted.
