Immersive attraction at Universal Studios Florida with a rollercoaster ride & 3D motion simulation.
Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts™ in Orlando
Description
Privilege
5* for the ride! Beginning might be tough for those nervous with fast coaster drops but rest is fine.-3* Absolutely atrocious cast member interaction. Kept asking if there is a way to be in the middle and they brush you off and yell to keep moving
MoreGreat coaster-like/4D experience. Nothing to big as far as drops, lots of great 3D effects. One of the better Harry Potter rides but not better than Hagrids IMO.
MoreThis ride is like a 4D type one. Definitely cool to see and well done. The details are amazing in the ride and the building itself. So much thought and effort was used to make everything!
MoreHad the chance to ride it three times in two days. The third best ride from both parks after Hagrids and the Velocicoaster.
MoreOne of the best rides. But besides from the first big drop, nothing came close to being as awesome.
MoreWhat a great ride. A masterful blend of roller coaster and video screen. Super exciting! The entrance is grande and very entertaining with the retro architecture.
MoreOne of the best rides at the park. Mind was blown the first time we rode it. The queue line is fantastically detailed and the fire breathing dragon on top of the bank is always amazing.
MoreThis is an immersive roller coaster that initially seems quite cool, when in reality it is barely a roller coaster and it goes a short way and stops at a screen, then goes a short way, stops at a screen, and so on, for about 7 screens. The picture quality of the screen isn’t that great. The best thing is probably the queue to get on the ride. It’s very well done and detailed as if in a real Gringotts. To avoid long lines, just do single rider. It avoids the queue and pre-show stuff.
MoreAmazing ride a great mix of roller coaster and 3D. very realistic I definitely thought I was getting hit with a few bricks.
MoreDear Universal StudiosNext time you decide to design such amazing ride. PLEASE DESGIN IT FOR TALL PEOPLE. We went to the Escape from Gringotts Ride Before we went in line, my husband tried siting in the preview chair before we went in line. At first the bar wouldnt go down because my husband legs were too long. BUT the employee said if we go in rows 3 or 6 we should be good. So we got in line. After 2 hours of waiting in line we FINALLY GOT UP. We got selected for row 6. Went we got in my husband couldnt get the bar down because of his legs. The employees tried so hard but no luck. So we couldnt go and I wasnt going on a ride that my husband couldnt go on thats not fair. This beyond makes ms SO ANGRY AND FRUSTRATED. We could have rode a lot more rides. So universal you should fix this problem. Seriously not right. Tall people matter too.
MoreGreat ride! I love the free lockers to store your things. You can bring hats on the ride, but you’ll have to hold them in your hand. The aesthetics and decor while waiting in line is so amazing!
MoreOne of my favorite rides at Universal Studios. This is the perfect mix between a thrill coaster and a 4D ride. This ride also has one of the best themed queues. You truly feel like you are going through the depths of Gringotts. For the best wait times, go after 7pm or early in the morning.
MoreWe went to get our picture after waiting in line for 2 hours just to have some worker with big white teeth ask us “what” to everything we asked for 5 minutes and tried to joke giving our photo card back pulling it away several times. Very unprofessional and extremely annoying. Won’t be coming back just because of him. Hope he is fired immediately for being so annoying. It’s not even something that’s part of the series. Just an annoying guy with nothing better to do than annoy your guests.
MoreThis place is scary! It’s not as intense as the Jurassic World VelociCoaster, but it’s truly adrenaline-pumping. What’s the most painful part about the ride? The excessively long wait prior to boarding the 3D roller coaster, which is why, for all Universal Orlando Resort attractions, you must have the official Universal Studios Orlando Resort ™️ app to check out wait times, warnings signs, as well as rules and regulations before each ride. The wait for me took over an hour, but the ride is quite thrilling and is worth the long wait! The waiting room is really cool, since it feels like you’re actually in the movie with Harry Potter himself, and as you enter Gringotts Bank, you see the goblins aligned right next to each other in two rows as they observe which people are walking by them. As I have mentioned above, just like all the other Harry Potter attractions at Universal Studios, it feels like you are actually in the movie with Harry Potter and the other characters in the storyline. Extremely surprisingly, I’m not a Harry Potter fan myself, I’ve read none of the books and have only seen the first movie (The Sorcerer’s Stone), but all the Harry Potter rides that I’ve been on are otherworldly. AWESOME SAUCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MoreCool 4d experience! Gringotts looks great inside and the elavator is an neat pre-ride experience!
MoreA very underwhelming ride. Its barely even a roller coaster. It would be classified better as a railed dark ride. About every 15 seconds you stop for a 3D screen segment. Its just a disappointing ride. I would probably not wait more than 20 minutes for it. On top of that, the crew running the ride was very undertrained. While riding the ride there was a technical error, which is no big deal. I realize theme park rides especially roller coasters have safety systems that engage to prevent accidents. However after a few attempts to resume operations we finally made it back to the unloading station (We were the train just behind the train unloading at the station). I was riding with a party of 9 who all used the single riders line so we were spread throughout the attraction when it broke. When we returned to the station a member of my party who was sitting behind me released his lap bar but couldnt get the lap bars for the empty seats next to him to release. While he tried to get them to release so he could unload off the train one of the crew members from across the station began screaming at him to exit the train and to just pull up on the lap bar. The crew member helping to unload the train came over and tried assisting in releasing the restraints and couldnt get them to release either. His response was to climb over the closed restraints (Which is typically a big no-no in roller coaster safety). He ended up deciding to exit back to the load side and then cross over a cleared row. We then waited towards the exit for the rest of our party. While we waited the crew was notified they would have to evacuate the guests from the ride. This resulted in members of the crew yelling at each other and a very tense feeling between them. Another one of my parties members who was evacuated in the ride said that the evacuation crew came but seemed really frantic and ended up having to grab additional equipment to get them out of the ride. In addition to everything the way the seats are designed results in blood loss to your legs in a fairly short period of time especially if you are short and your feet can not touch the floor. Multiple children around my ride vehicle complained that their legs had gone numb after about 5 minutes of us sitting. We ended up being delayed about 30 minutes. The crew just appeared to have little to no idea of what they were doing which is very concerning considering that nearly all coaster accidents occur when the rides are not operating normally. They occur when manual overrides are needed to reset the rides systems and communication breaks down between the crew running the attraction. (For further information Im a coaster enthusiast and understand many of the safety features that are installed. I have also been evacuated off of a different ride in the past and had a calm and professional experience.)
MoreGreat ride with a pretty good storyline! I will say that the locker area is not the best which hopefully they improve over time! It’s worth checking out during the day!
MoreFast pass line gets to go on this ride 30 times in the time it takes a standard rider to go once. Wait time posted 95 min….. actually waited 3 hours. Ride was over in under 5 mins. So NOT WORTH IT!! Do not waste. Half of your day at the park in the standard line! You’ll be crying as you realize your wait STILL isn’t over and the fast pass line is going 10x faster than the people who waited HOURS!
MoreI just love it . If you are excited while walking in the town imagine how you’ll feel when entering into the bank ! You’re in the movie they take care of every detail of the scene, the newspaper the decorations when the line move you’ll get frustrated because you want to continue looking at everything. Love it .
MoreThe wait was ridiculously long but the ride was fun!
Full of surprises and overall my top fav dark ride. Its not super scary so makes it fun for riders of all ages and tolerance levels. Very good visual and special fx. Fun queue line too if youre in the main line. Lines move pretty fast because it is a short ride. You really feel like you are there with all of the characters!
MoreMy family recently visited Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure and we had the best experience at the Harry Potter exhibits. This ride was one of our favorites. You cant bring any loose articles or bags on the ride so they have lockers. The teeny tiny ones are free, the larger ones are $2.
MoreOne of the 3 best rides in the whole park! The line is cool, especially for a Harry Potter fan. You can see the goblins and theres a dragon on top which you can see from the outside. The ride is amazing, its themed on the escape from Gringotts when Harry, Ron, and Hermione get the horcrux from the vault. Its a mild roller coaster but its indoors. It starts off with a fun drop, you move around a bit, and there is water, smoke, and fire I think. If you come to the park and you dont come here, youll waste your time. The ride is categorized as a thrill ride, but its not too intense. Kids could handle it for sure. Enjoy the ride!
MoreI personally wouldn’t worry about all the warnings in the line making it seem as if this is an intense experience. I would call this very mild or mild. It’s a cart on a short track with both screens for an “interactive” guide type experience as well as some environmental effects and animatronics. The cart twists and rotates (not very rapidly at alllike many simulator experiences do. The track has no extreme movements so if you’re looking for a gut turning thrill ride, this is not it. It is a fun and unique experience, though! I would do it again but I wouldn’t wait over 45 minutes for it.
MoreLove love love this ride!!!! If you’re at universal studios, do gringots. It is fully immersive and doesn’t shake you around too much. The reviews say if you do fast pass you don’t get to experience it all. That is a lie. You get to see everything and skip the line. Totally worth it.The ride goes in every direction and has two big drops. You’ll see all your favorite Harry Potter characters one to life for a fun and fantastic thrill. Escape from gringots is the perfect ride for older kids and adults alike. Might be too extreme for younger kids.
MoreHarry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts in an immersive, 3D, dark ride with minimal ‘big drops’. It’s pegged a roller coaster but the thrill is on par with flight of a hippogriff, the focus is on the story! The attention to detail throughout the queue line is crazy! Riders walk throughout the bank and enjoy some surprises along the way. It is a must for Harry Potter fans.
More“Never trust anything that can think for itself if you can’t see where it keeps its brain.”— Arthur Weasley,Good ride, but to short. 3d not bad, it is worth to stay 30 minutes. Kids going to love this ride.but if you have no express it is not worth.
More1. Family pack have early pass. Recommend get this, so you can get in the early ride (the thrill and best one). Hagrid motorbike and Veloci coaster (just a heads up. This ride maybe too much for you to handle). Youll get two free breakfast. One at Hogmeads and one at Leaky Cauldron. (Diagon Ally, last dayOverall, I want to comeback. This place is... i dont want to leave at all. If you have been readung and watch all Harry Potter movies, youll know what I mean.**2. BEWARE!!! Full of tourist trap. You already spend money in the universal, and buy more stuff when youre outside the universal. MORE merchandise store than rides. The better stuff to buy is toward the front, the city walk. For example, the Griffindor small backpack. Oh! And that $27/day to get in the theme park. 🥺
MoreHarry Potter fans will enjoy it. If you want to skip lines and dont want to wait for 65 minutes then go early
MoreGreat experience! Is a ride that’s mixed with 3D effects and roller coasters! Didn’t expect that !
MoreGreat ride, super interactive with video and music, effects and motion. Scenes while waiting gave us something to look at. Only negative would be the locker situation. So. Bad. Literally packed into locker rooms trying to cram all your stuff into a tiny locker. Saw several people almost get into a fight over no lockers available or people pushing through. Somehow Disney manages to not require lockers, but every ride here does.
MoreWait was super long and ride itself very short. Amazing graphics, design of the building and detailed anamatronics/entertainment inside (while in line). Its a little chaotic in locker area.
MoreAmazing ride! From the fire breathing dragon in the front, to seeing the goblins in the waiting room and then the introductory room where you get ready to head down the elevators, its a great experience before you actually board the ride. Its a neat combination of ride and visual experience as you enter the vaults of Gringotts and ultimately meet with Voldemort! Usually a long line but its worth the wait.
MoreIt was a great ride, tho the line to get to the ride was insanely long. I understand that Guest have paid lots of money for their fast past, but the regular line was moving so slow after four pm. Like 8 or 10 guests were moved forward to ride the attraction while 30+ guests for the fast past. It took me and my wife like 3 hours to ride the attraction that was a bummer. I guess we have to get fast past next time. We enjoy the park as always.
MoreThis ride is amazing in every way. A must for all visitors. The line is very very long but It’s worth the wait if you are a Harry Potter fan. The 4D aspect of it truly makes you feel like you are there. We were waiting in line almost 45 minutes but as I said it was totally worth it.If you’re at the park really early in the morning I do recommend to get on this ride first and then start on others.
MoreIf you read the books and youre a fan, youre absolutely going to love the experience. The shops, and the alleys were created exactly as it was described in the book. The ride was really nice, it was a bit short, but I think you go more for the experience of being in that world. If the line is short and have less than 30 minutes wait time, then do the ride. Otherwise, enjoy the alley and the stores.
MoreFun storyline and great adventure! This attraction has a great amount of attention to detail. Definitely missing the Jaws ride which once stood here but that should not stop you from enjoying this Harry Potter themed dark ride! Look out for a few Jaws references in the queue! #harrypotter #escapefromgringotts #diagonalley #universalstudios #orlando #florida
MoreSo much fun today. The walk thru was really amazing and the details were so over the top. The ride was crazy fun! If some of your party doesnt want to ride, they can still walk thru and then go sit in the air conditioned waiting room til the rest if the group is done.
MoreThe scenery is amazing and the ride is pretty good, not so fast but it does has some sudden spins and rapid accelerations. If you get dizzy easily consider this ride has 3D glasses.
MoreOnce again, as Universal as done with its Harry Potter Attractions, they have outdone themselves again. It’s so much fun being able to be immersed inside the world of Harry Potter and they spared no expense while creating this ride. The line can be very long in the summertime so be prepared to wait. But it’s very worth it.
MoreAn amazing ride, 4d, fast, a lot of great story and show. You walk through the bank floor, the vault, office spaces, through Georges office, down an elevator and through vaults on a cart!
MoreMy favorite Harry Potter ride! The bank is amazing! We went the 2nd week of March and right before closing there is no line. Belongings must go in a locker first. Small lockers are free and you must scan your park ticket to access them.
MoreThis was and is a unique coaster experience that does take the “normal” roller coaster experience and turns it upside down. There are starts and stops, side to side movement, and tons of special effects. This was unique for our family and probably the next experience we could have with two adults, 4 yo and a 12 yo.
MoreThis is such a great ride just for the overall experience. Don’t come in expecting a really exciting roller coaster ride, or else your expectations won’t be met. This is awesome in a different way. There’s a little bit of coaster because that’s what you ride in, but the main aspect is the 3D part, and it’s super realistic- it literally feels like you are falling and being thrown around, it’s crazy! Plus, it’s sooo cool walking through the Gringotts bank as you wait in line- so much detail in everything, it’s a Potterheads dream!
MoreFantastic and fun ride. The line up for this ride is one the best I have ever been in, and the ride itself does not disappoint. It is thrilling and fun with a great story!
MoreWaited way too long for this ride (~2 hour wait, but had I known that single riders can get on in ~15 minuteswould have opted for that. Still, had a lot of fun on this impressive coaster/3D simulation ride. The setup of the bank is beautifully done and very much like in the movie. The ride itself is fun and well done. Not too thrilling (it’s technically a coaster but no big drops), but a lot of fun. The visuals were also very cool
MoreThis ride was amazing. The walk in and the actual ride were one of our favorites. I highly recommend. This is one of the rides where you have to rent a locker. Im not sure if there was free ones but i paid 2$ for one which said i was running out of time as i was getting my stuff back. Not sure what price is if your time does run out.
MoreThis is another ride that had been built up for me but was a little bit short of amazing. But dont let me put you off. It is a good ride for the Harry potter fans
MoreThis ride is amazing! This is my favorite ride of all of the Harry Potter rides so far! It’s just the right ratio of coaster and simulator. It’s hard to differentiate the simulation from the set, and they recently upgraded the 3D goggles and the experience is just incredible. This ride is very smooth and enjoyable.
MoreAwe went during Halloween Horror Nights and there was no wait at all! If was incredible. Its so beautifully and intricately designed except I had high expectations that the ride would last longer and be more exciting. It was still fun but it is what it is.
