Harper's Topiary Garden - Garden in Tijuana, Mexico
Harper's Topiary Garden in Tijuana
Description
Yes its buried but if you want to experience something totally unique within a little known neighborhood of San Diego this is it. If you have the time and stamina I highly recommend walking from the suspension bridge here.
MoreInteresting quick photo spot
Such a beauty tucked away I town the detail and artistry is amazing. Had to stop by to see it while In the area the pictures dont do it justice
MoreI came in the morning and no one was there 😂 i loved being able to marvel at the craftsmanship that went into this garden
MoreWorth a visit and a big plus that it’s free to see - a wonderful example of creativity and artistic imagination!
MoreGood for a quick stop and a photo. Really well maintained.
FREE is nice; its very small and an easy 5 minutes. Clearly a lot of time has been put into the topiaries, but I think the neighborhood would be served better by having fewer topiaries which are better defined with a U-shaped path up the hill to walk among them without having to touch.
MoreQuaint and well maintained garden tucked away at the intersection of Vine and Union St.There is also a beautiful Little Free Library covered with Bougainvillea flowers next to the garden.Street parking is usually easy to get on weekdays and weekends.
MoreIts a private garden facing the road. There is no parking near by. One can stop the vehicle, catch and glimpse and move on.
MoreLove it. Great job. Edward the scissords Hands😀☺🤟
Ive taken a few groups on bonus location stops and these gardens are a very popular spot for photos for my clients.
MoreFun little pit stop. Luckily there was curbside parking directly across
Love the sculptures here! Worth a quick stop!
Worth the walk up a steep street! We walked up the hill after a drink at the AeroClub---perfect afternoon activity. These animals are so cute looking! Im sure little kids would be truly amazed to see this right in the middle of an ordinary street. Thank you to the owners/caretakers.
MoreSuch a cool garden to check out. It’s someone’s home garden so be respectful!
MoreIts free but hard to find a parking spot, go on the weekdays
I stumbled upon this garden and Im glad I did! Such a hidden treasure and a delight to see!
MoreCute visit if you have a car and can just quickly pass by to have a look. I wouldnt make the effort to take a bus or uber there but worth a visit when being mobile.
MoreA site to see. A true hidden gem of San Diego. Worth it to see and take pictures. Wonderful surprises in the shapes.
MoreWorth going there even if it only takes 5 minutes to see this magnificent garden
Its okay, it would have been better if there was other stuff to check-out while walking around this neighborhood. Some of the bushes are just okay.
MoreIts not a garden you can walk into its just a hill on the street with shrubbery cut into figures of animals and other things cool to drive by Mayne take a picture but thats about it
MoreYou cant walk around or through. Climbing on the hill is prohibited. Honestly, if you dont have much time in San Diego, you can skip it, and wont be missing a thing. Photos are below.
MoreSo, yes, this is basically someones front yard. Now you know. But if you dont go, youre kind of missing the magic of it. The sculptures are incredibly well done. Its so cool being able to stand back and pick out what each sculpture could be. The elephants are some of my favorite, but I also spotted a man napping with a potbelly and a Sombrero hat on, a whale, two people taking a selfie, and so much more.It was two of us couples who went, and my friend and I were more interested than our guys were. They were like "Is this it? Just someones front yard?"But as my friend and I got into the fun of picking out what each bush was shaped as, the guys started having fun pointing it out to us as well.Theres also a Little Free Library next to the plants, and a friendly neighborhood stray that came to greet us. It was a lot of fun.
MoreIts been over a year I passed it, today my travels brought me to Union and Vine Street~ the place is in Good Shape! Keep it wild- Staying classy San Diego 2021
MoreReally beautiful. This is really close top the airport and worth driving by at least. There are a lot of things to see that you may want to get out of your car, but the road is narrow and can be dangerous if theres a lot of traffic.
MoreReally cool sculptures. Enjoyed looking at them and trying to figure out exactly what they were. Pretty area. Nice quick---or not so quick, stop-off to enjoy the garden. Very creative!
MoreBeautiful hedges are here! Saw this place as a kid randomly driving through the neighborhood and wasn’t able to find it again until social media ! Such a beautiful area!
MoreThe owner was there when we were taking pictures. Shes kind. The gardener was also there taking care of the the beautiful well-maintained art piece! If you visit, please respect this place. Dont touch or walk around the garden.
MoreLovely garden nestled in the residential hills of San Diego. Another fun stop on our day trip.
MoreThis whimsical garden is actually someone’s front yard, I’m guess it belongs to Edna Scissors hands as per the sign in the yard. It looks like years and years of growing and grooming went into the characters in her yard. A rooster, a bunny, a whale, a cowboy and on. High up on the hill, in this residential neighborhood, it takes no more than 10-15 minutes to pass by an admire the hard work that went into a garden for all to enjoy.
MoreWorth the quick detour! Very cool👍👍
Definitely worth a stop to take some pictures and enjoy the designs carved out of hedges. The whole neighborhood is very cute and worth a drive around.
MoreGreat lil piece of Art, not far from SD Lindberg Field, Washington Ave, eateries! Good views to North Island, Pt. Loma too! SD Bay!! We SAW on #7footApartHikes weekly hike/Walkabout via San Diego Day Hikers @MeetUp.com by daniel-aka FreedomPlease
MoreBeautiful garden, nice place to have your kids walk with you and appreciate the beauty of creativeness.
MoreInteresting for a quick stop. Cool idea. Dont expect to be there long though. Combined with a trip to pioneer park and heritage Row park which was a decent outing. Bring a free book for the book box.
MorePictures do this place no justice! As I drove up Vine Street to see it I nearly lost my breath. Just stunning (and bigger than any picture would have you think)! If you go, take your time to really look at each and every topiary or come back a second time. Some of them didnt stand out to me until I visited again. Props to the patriotic topiary following public health guidelines. Youll see what I mean! :)
MoreWow, Id hate to do this yard work. Very nice, I could sit and watch it for ever.
I dont get the chance to drive by here that often, and when I do Im usually working. So its always a delight to see a quirky garden, as I pass by. It makes me smile at a time when I need to smile. To the owner I say keep up the great work!
MoreIts a neat sight for a quick sightseeing idea. The work that the couple put into the topiarys is neat.
MoreAt the top of a steep hill a short 15 minute walk from the Green line station. Takes as much time to see as it does to get there. You cant walk through it so just view from the sidewalk.
MoreI would agree with other folks on here saying if you are in the area or going to be passing through, definitely worth the side trip here. The pictures dont really do this place justice since a lot of the creativity here is drowned out by the closeness of it all. Kind of just starts to blend in and you cant see the details, especially since you cant get closer up. Its still amazing and fun, just know that the location does have constraints.
MorePretty cool that the property owners took advantage of their steeply sloped front yard in this creative manner. Pretty close to downtown in a residential neighborhood, just park on the curb and admire their handiwork. No crowds, its free, and its unique.
MoreThis is amazing to see. The sculptures topiary are made into elephants and numerous animals and other fun stuff. Each time I visit I see something new.
MoreIts a small but very creative garden. People will probably spend like 10 minutes here. Great stop on your way to San Diego airport or when picking up guest. Very unique.
MoreThis is a must see when visiting San Diego. My husband and I geocache and one of them led by here. The artwork is amazing. The only downside is that if you dont have a car, be ready to walk steep hills. Unless you like walking or running then this would be a fun challenge.
MoreGorgeous and they have had the same gardener doing this for 25yrs
This is considered one of the hidden gems of San Diego. I often stay with friends in the neighbor, so Ive driven past it many times--but I finally took the time to walk over and see it up close. Its cute and charming. The local garden club who tends it does a good job.I imagine this attraction would be best for children. Frankly, I enjoyed the walk through the neighborhood more than the actual topiaries. The Mission hills neighborhoods are filled with a variety of fascinating architecture and beautiful landscaping--worth a walk in and of themselves!
MoreThis is one of San Diegos secrets tucked away in public. Beautiful and a must see. Thank you bro for finding it.
MoreWhat a fun and unique place to check out! You have to be across the street to really admire all the diffrent creations. This is a must for your places to check out around San Diego list. You dont get to see many of these artistic gardens.I loved it. So much fun!
