Harburg Castle in Nuernberg

Beautiful place. Very nice experience.

This castle is quite nice from the distance. But the entrance to see mostly NOTHING is a total rip off!!!!! Wandering inside not entering any room should be FREE!!

Minor fee to access the grounds but once youre inside theres not much to see in October on a Sunday unless you booked a guided tour. Views were great but you could see just as beautiful views driving by instead of paying to enter.

If you are coming to Munich this is a great day trip. The castle is full of history and the tour is very informative.

One of beautiful and historic medieval cities or castles in Germany is the Castle Harburg. 3 weeks ago we made a trip to the castle and spent some hours there. The castle is well preserved and refined. I would like to recommend you to make a guided tour. A professional historian or a skillful curator guides and explains rich history of Harburg entertainingly and amusingly. Entry tickets were much cheaper than I expected (2€-4€). I defininitely recommend you to visit the castle. I hope photos Im posting will motivate you to visit Harburg.

A good stopping point on way to Rothenburg from Munich, but not an essential must see sight if time doesnt allow.We took the guided tour. Im not sure what parts of the castle one could visit without a guide.Picturesque views through some of the slots and windows in the rampart walls.

Nice castle located on a hill with a good view of the surrounding landscape. I would recommend to park outside of the castle because inside is only available for events. The castle itself is in a good state the food in the restaurant is good but the service policy is a bit weird. You have to order and tell them your table number and you had to pay when you wanted to pick it up. It was a bit messy and obviously paying with card was problematic...

Medieval castle with a nice furbishing.

The castle is beautiful on the outside and in the courtyard. The inside tour is really not worthing the money and honestly the guide is pointless. On our tour there were 12 persons whom spoke foreign languages and 5 or 6 persons whom spoke german. Yet the guide choosed to speak only german and it was just a waste of time to stay there read your small guide and hear her talk not understanding a thing about the history of the castle. The tour was also fastened because lack of time. The whole experience was bad and If I knew I would have never bought the tickets for the tour inside. The tickets for the outside courtyard and church are more then enough. The inside is not even that interesting.

We had a wonderful day relaxing at the castle. Well visit again soon

Massive castle very close to Augsburg, not as known as many others in Bavaria, but also worth a visit. You can buy entry ticket for yard, or extra for guided tour around the castle.Castle is being built upon for past 800 years so it does have rich history behind it.You can also take a walk through the forest around the castle with some nice views, as well as enjoy a meal in a great but bit pricey restaurant.Overall great package for a daily visit.

Beautiful castle 🏰 We took the guided tour and it was great. Detailed, but not too much to be boring. The tour was in German(witch not all in our friend group understand), but we had English brotures and the guide talked very well in English too.And the views around the grounds are amazing too.We did visit the restaurant too and ate amazing German food.Definitely recommend spending some time here ☺️

Fantastic for kids - there are stories to read all around the castle Rapunzel, Grimm, Jungle Book, etc; and animals - you can see all this without paying the entrance fee (only 3 euro). The castle itself is not great; only worth it if you need the bathroom or food/drink.

we stayed in a hotel room in a turret which was an experience.Harburg Castle is run by a trust (since 2000and they host weddings, special events,, castle tours, and a small number of rooms for those who want the full experience. they have a small restaurant with an outdoor patiothey, along with many others, experienced difficult times during Covid and are attempting to recover (as of May 3, 2022).

This place is just amazing. I was not expecting the beauty of this place, as it was not very cited on guides about the romantic road.In my opinion, its mandatory to stop here.We did the guide inside the castle which was ver interesting. We got lucky that everyone doing the guide were not German, so the guide was in English. Usually its in German

Spur of the moment stop off after driving past it as we travelled along the Romantic Strasse. We didn’t get a chance to visit inside the castle because we got there after they closed. But the exterior is wonderfully maintained with great views of the town below.

Harburg Castle is positioned over the town of Harburg. The castle offers amazing views of the surrounding area as well as several historic interiors as well as a informative tour of the grounds. I would recommend taking advantage of the scenic walk around the castle as well as taking a stroll into the town of Harburg during your visit!

Extremely well preserved medieval castle. It dominates the lovely town of Harburg from a high promontory offering a nice photo-op. It gives the possibility of learning how daily life was organized through the course of history. Worth visiting such a beautiful piece of european history!

Nice peaceful place. Got a great view over the town below. Entry is super cheap. Got parking nearby. There is a pathway leading to the town below which leads to old town. A walk along the old town is nice. Would recommend.

Very picturesque German castle! They have a guided tour as well but seemed to be only in German, however it was just as enjoyable to walk the grounds ourselves. There is also a path along the outside of the castle that gives an interesting perspective. €3 pp

Visited the Harburg Castle on the way from Munich to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. It was an option to visit the castle inside with a guide. It costs 8 euros extra. These people who didnt go inside had waited outside and walked around the castle. Castle tour takes about 20 minutes.

The tour was so worth it.Leaves on the hour every hour.If you didnt do the tour. Really miss alot of the information and inside look.The guide I forget her name was great and get to see inside of a castle from the 600s to 1600s additionsWas one of our favorite castles to visit without all the glitz and glamour like the popular tourist ones.Photos inside are forbidden. Why only posted exterior.Entry is 3€ and the tour is 4€Not you cant go inside unless you do the tour.There is free parking next to the castle.

Beautiful castle with a ton of history. I recommend taking a guided tours. You will learn a lot about the castle and the impact it had on every day lifes.

Beautiful castle. A lot was closed when we arrived. Would love to see it during peak season as I think it would be an incredible place to visit!

Nice castle... Not a whole lot to see on the grounds, maybe in the guided visit there is more to see, nice view of Harburg from the viewing point.

We visited the castle for a concert. There is adequate car parking and the walk to the castle is not too far. There are no steep climbs to reach the castle. The owner and personnel working there were friendly and approachable during our visit. There is a bar and hotel in the building.

Absolut auténtic. Unfortunately its not possible to see anything on the inside without paying for the tour.The views are stunning.

You can stay here at the hotel, which is located just inside the castle. It’s really lovely! Don’t be surprised to see a group of tourists making photos just outside your bathroom window while brushing your teeth at the morning :)

Very beautiful castle but if you pass by, you need to do the guided tour that allows you to see the interiors.Photo are allowed outside and inside almost everywhere.The guided tour is really interesting and if you are lucky is held in English and not in German, depends on the attendants.Free parking space just outside the castle.

Very beautiful, old castle. You can go through it, but be sure to arrive between opening times otherwise you can see just some of the things outside.They also have a restaurant there for a drink or to get something to eat, very tasty and price is reasonable for a place like that.

Very beautiful castle in great condition! The scenery around the castle is rewarding for those who will do some hiking. You can also get a full launch or dinner inside the Castros restaurant.

We were passing by and just stoped for a short visit. Looks huge and impressive from the outside but somewhat plain and boring inside. Great historical place to visit nonetheless

Lovely old Castle on top of the hill. Unfortunately I came at wrong time late in the evening and at the middle of March. I hope next time will be more things to see. Nice example of German architecture from middle ages.

Harburg Castle is the best place to visit while in Germany. So many Historical features since 1000yrs ago or more.... Look out for few pics to motivate you more 😍😍😍

Really beautiful old castle. Absolutely worth the price of admission. The tour was only in German, but we still thought it was worth the extra euro to go inside.

beautiful views and a nice tour available. The hike up wasnt bad, but we found out you can drive all the way up to the castle if you want, but the walk down with panoramic views is worth it
