Old Yacht Club Building 150 The Strand, Tauranga, 3110, New Zealand, Tauranga
Contemporary, fine-dining restaurant featuring a global menu, cocktails & waterside seating.
Love the Harbourside. Food is lovely and the staff great fun.
Lovely wedding anniversary meal. Staff were exceptional. I am immune compromised at present and waitress wore mask when serving our table (without our asking). Really appreciated it. Thoroughly recommended.
Always a great spot for lunch or dinner, never disappoints!
Beautiful food, well worth going to for s special lunch.
Nice meal. Staff were great. Lovely place to have a meal.
Went here with my partner and I ordered the pork belly with scallops. I dont generally eat scallops but it was surprisingly very nice and it was a beautiful meal highly recommend.
My partner spoilt me to dinner here a few nights ago, I will just say that Rosie (restaurant managerhad amazing warm service! She was very welcoming. That made us feel like we were home which was lovely! I got the prawns and my partner got the pork belly. The prawns were incredible. The sauce was delicious! Then we got the fish and chips + the miso salmon. Both were delicious! Food was quickly served and was presented so nicely. It truly was a fine dining experience! The waitresses were great as well! They knew exactly when to approach us which was great! We didn’t have to get up and ask for anything which was great!
Food is so delicious and the service is excellent.
Fantastic night . Food was delicious.
Had a really lovely evening there last Friday, waitress knew her stuff which made the evening go so well. Outstanding food and ambiance superb.
We had a big group on Sat 30th July and every meal was divine. The venison main was out of this world. Your waiting staff were so friendly and on the ball. It was an amazing evening. Thankyou
It was ok, service was great … croquettes and risotto were good….cheeky Shiraz did the trick.. well done team
Gilli the older waitress is brilliant, she understands hospitality... and how to treat customers... Otherwisethe setting is great, the food is ok, I have had better..
Exceptional service. Exceptional food. Never been so well treated in a NZ restaurant. Very polite and considerating staff. Every single dish we had was amazing. The fish was amazing and the seafood platttwas beautiful. I highly reccommend Harbourside Restaurant and will definitely go back.
Everything was perfect. We had seafood chowder, FishnChips, Eggplant and dessert. They were so delicious and good portion. The services and the atmosphere was great too. Well definitely come back.
4.5 Stars out of 5For a dinner in Winter it was still a romantic place to be at. We had a window view which in summer the sides wound up so you could fully enjoy the view. We were kept warm with indoor heaters. The table service was friendly and attentive. The food delicious - we had the Seafood Chowder for entree, my husband had the Eye Fillet steak cooked to Medium - Rare and I had the Salmon which had crispy skin and a nice pink centre. We both were so full from our mains that we didn’t get to have any dessert but the dessert menu looked delicious. Definitely would like to visit again.
We have been there lots of times and are never disapointed new on there menu prawns boy are they delicous staff and food fantastic thank you all
We were given a voucher for Harbourside when we sold our house. What a disappointment. We vowed years ago not to go back to this "cafe" .The menu is basically unchanged from years ago.Basic food, expensive prises. Slow service. 2 tiny bits of fish and 11 chips for 28 dollars. My wife had chicken which was so salty if they had said it was pulled from the ocean I would have believed them.Dont fall into the trap of thinking this is the place to be...... It might have been 20 years ago. They are still dining out on the glory days. Time it sipped into the sea.Be wise. Go to India today or Osteria at the Mount. Fab food. Great value.I dont doubt this review will be deleted.
Absolutely loved it. Amazingly chilled and relaxed atmosphere, food was good well we were very happy with what we had and no complaints. Will be back again
Love the Harbour side. A great walk. And a path,Leads you North, west. To Mount Base Track. Enjoy.exit to surf bch.
Awesome food, great atmosphere. The pork belly and scallops are brilliant and the salmon as well
Awesome food! Fantastic waitress. Atmosphere was very nice. Great experience. Will definitely be back.
Perfectly located, lively, yet relaxed atmosphere, excellent service. Our party of 4 ......, 3 enjoyed their meals: Fish of the Day , Seafood Chowder & Seared Venison. My Rogan Josh Curry, sadly had no curry, it was more of a flavourless stew even after asking for more chillis which had no spicy bite.
Food was absolutely insane. The presentation from the starters through to the mains and the deserts was actually amazing. The service from our waiter was top notch. Definitely will be coming back to Harbourside.
Beautiful food, location and drinks. Always very good.
I booked at 11:30am, we were the first guest there. We had great view table, good service and yummy foods. They forgot salad side, but not affect we back again.
Most excellent location. Great menu and wine list. All were greatly satisfied with our meals. Professionally friendly staff.
By far the best food we have tasted in ages! Our new favorite go to for dinning! The entire place is just awesome and the water views having food as a stingray cruises past is an experience! Can not recommend highly enough! Should be 6 stars! Well be back!
Very disappointing valentines diner, after having been super excited to go to one of TAURANGA’s supposedly better restaurants It was a real let down, lucky to have 2 stars… one for the location and view and one for the friendly staff, unfortunately that’s where it stopped. After reading in the reviews about defrosted raw Tuna I was giving them the benefit of the doubt but once my starter of Seafood chowder was served I was quite shocked, I’ve never tasted anything so bland, even worse not even any salt or pepper on the table… basically tasted like some poached defrosted seafood in a very bland soup of nothing… did they even taste what they served up? We also had the pork belly which was pretty meh well cooked but no sauce?Mains we had pan fried snapper and the miso salmon, my god that was so terrible I couldn’t eat it, the blanched broccolini had gone to seed and you could smell it going foul… It put me off the main altogether, the miso cream tasted like nothing and whole salad was disappointing. I’ve never been so disappointed before… I couldn’t eat my main, we left and went to salinity. Foods much better there.. certainly won’t be back. What a shame, waste of $150!
Lovely place, it has inside seating and outside (on the deck with panoramic sea viewswe went during sunset and it was amazing!, the food is very tasty as well and they also have mocktails and had the best one ever! Will def visit again!
It was my second time booking here and Im sorry to say, Im a bit disappointed either the food again. I find it to be a bit bland and pricey oth actually not much for what you pay.The venue is very nice and 5* bit I must say Im abit disappointed with your food abit sorry. The waiter had a very dirty and old looing mask on 😷 that looked like she had been wearing it for week 🤮 very unhygienic. Please change your mask regularly.$38 pan fried fish... Green for that price, I thought I would get a whole fish on my plate instead this is what I got. Also $28 dor eggplant that was fine, I just expected it to be larger portion sizes.🍆
Looking for a romantic dinner place? This is it. This restaurant sits on the harbour as mentioned in its name. My husband and I came here just when the sun was setting so the ambience was perfect. We ordered ourselves a couple of bubblies and they were delicious. Quite extensive drink menu I would say. The food was good but not out of this world. We ordered the beer battered fish and chips and the 4 seafood appetizer platter. All except the tuna that came with the platter was good. The tuna sashimi wasn’t fresh for sure. It felt like it was not only defrosted but that it wasn’t done properly because I can taste the water in the fish. Still giving this place 4 stars because everything else was lovely. The view, the service, the speed of the food coming out from the kitchen… definitely would come back here again; just not for the tuna.
Top class place for lunch or dinner, right by the harbour, food is supreme
The service was very good the staff was very friendly and helpful answering questions and confirming answers with the kitchen staff. The food was spectacular steak and venison was cooked perfectly and the fish of the day had great flavor.Cant wait to go back again and try some more of the menu and maybe even desert next time.Have to note that had a great Whisky selection as well.
2021 review this restaurant is still one of the best in Tauranga. The views are great from anywhere in the restaurant and the staff are A1. The food as always is exceptional and cannot be faulted. If you are after a first class meal you are mad not to go here.
Lovely experience and beautiful food, first time dining here and we will definitely be back. Our waiter Callum was excellent and very attentive and lovely host
One of best restaurants in Tauranga in my experience.Foods are very tasty and good atmosphere. Highly recommend
An old yacht club with an railway bridge on top crossing the harbour, amazing views, foods with friendly and professional service, I very enjoy my espresso affogato.
The food was amazing and the service was very awesome thanks Rockie
Fabulous setting right on the water, would be stunning on warm summer nights and days with a great view over the inner harbour. Service and food are top class. This is a very busy place and bookings are essential. On the down side, in winter at night theres not much that can be seen outside. In summer, book a veranda table so you can enjoy the view. Like most restaurants, loud groups can make conversation hard, not much anyone can do about that, sadly. If you want more intimacy, book for a later time rather than earlier, but you will need to book well in advance. Everything was very well presented, friendly team, although our table had a very bad wobble which Im sure they would have been fixed if Id mentioned it.
The food was definitely divine, especially the salmon! A lovely spot on Tauranga harbour & even though it was a rainy night when we visited I can imagine the view on a gorgeous summers day.The Maitre De could have been a little more personable and I would have thought at such a highly rated venue could have managed better than a jumper & sneakers for work attire. Our waitress however was lovely so made up for it.
Delicious food and great setting. The service was just top notch though, really makes a difference.
The food was great, not amazing tho. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was quite nice. Just be aware that you might spend there an hour per course hence I recommend just have one meal and go because even it is not packed they take ages to bring the food. I also wish they had a better variety of international wines although it seems to be a problem in all Tauranga/Mt Maunganui region.
Excellent sea view and ambiance. Good food and friendly service. Highly recommended
Great taste. Good service. Only rated 4 because we werent told about specials or sold out items on menu.
Fabulous food n service. The beer battered chips are the best. Had chicken thigh sandwich and salmon meals. Will definitely go again.
This is such a lovely location, great views of the harbour and boating activity, added interest with trains commuting over the rail bridge. Our table enjoyed a tasty seared tuna entree and a seafood chowder entree and mains mussel and salmon dishes. All the dishes were very enjoyable, with loads of interesting flavours. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and smiling, great to see! There is parking outside.
We had the Peking lamb to start. While not traditional Peking duck, it was still very tasty and a decent portion for the two of us.For mains, we has the lamb rack and the venison loin. Both were well cooked and delicious. The garlic potatoes could have done with more flavour, and the vegetables with the loin were nothing special. We finished with the chocolate fondante and brulee. The fondante was one of the best weve had from a restaurant. Unfortunately, the brulee came out overcooked, and was slightly rubbery.Overall, a good experience and we will be back to try some of the other dishes.
So the last pic I posted says all... empty plates. The menu was in the form of a newspaper which was amazing. Right from appetisers to mains and drinks it was great experience. The environment was great and so as views. Worth dining here while visiting Tauranga. Thumbs up to food, drink and experience 👍🏻. A must recommended place to have a wonderful evening!
Excellent location, its great fun to look across the water whether at night or day. Provides a pleasant atmosphere. The staff are also very helpful and provide good service. Nothing short of five stars. However, for the price, while the food was undoubtedly good I would hope that it would pass the line into excellence.I highly recommend the truffled mushrooms - easily the best part of the meal.
