This modest 2-storey motel off the Trans-Canada Highway is within a 15-minute walk from the harbour and Downtown, and a km from the Port Place Shopping Centre. The basic rooms have exterior entrances and all are equipped with free WiFi and TVs. There's a 2-bedroom family suite with a full kitchen.Parking is free. Guests are offered discounts at the neighbouring casual restaurant.
Nice little motel 5 minuets walking distance to downtown Nanaimo. Room was clean and place was super quite. Reasonably priced friendly staff will definitely be back.
My stay at the place was awesome! Especially the staff Cindy and Alan are super welcoming and helpful! No hesitation to come back!
Front desk staff were efficient and friendly, room was clean but the smell of cigarette smoke came through the vents. Location is decent, walking distance from downtown but wouldn’t want to leave valuables in your vehicle. Overall pretty good for the money!
Location location location! The Harbour light is nestled in the fringes of downtown Nanaimos burgeoning open-air drug and rent free district.Check-in was lightning fast at around 6 minutes which was mostly spent watching the front desk guy stare at his computer and mumble to himself. Our room was well appointed with all the usual amenities, including: a too small TV which was locked to an even smaller aspect ratio, a 2x2 wet spot on the carpet in front of the fridge, and for fun in the shower the bathtub had a concave bottom. Perfect for strengthening balance while you attempt to shower without losing your footing. The surrounding area includes a McDonalds that advertises a 6:00am opening. When I arrived at 6:15 the gentlemen smoking herione at the entrance advised me that it was still closed. The 24 hour gas station next door also has hours that differ from the 24 hour sign, and another pair of helpful gentlemen smoking herione at the front door. Waiting to apply for the vacant cashier position no doubt.During our stay there was a group of import motorcycle enthusiasts who were also staying there. At 930pm they loaded all their bikes into pickups and trailers. I especially enjoyed the rumbling of the straight piped v8 Ford that decided to idle the entire time it took to load the bikes. I couldnt help but imagine how cool and badass the owner was while I tried to sleep after working a 12 hour day.You get what you pay for I guess. Although I didnt personally pay for the room, (business trip), I would advise prospective customers to haggle a better deal based on my experience.
I have stayed at this motel several times and it is hit and miss on the rooms! Some are nice while others are not. This stay was not pleasant, air conditioner was faulty and only worked for a bit, loose toilet seat, microwave smelt like burnt popcorn, black out curtains did not work. All I can say is if you have stayed here before and had a nice room try and book the same room next time.
Very dirty, not maintained well, and the sheets were stained. The person at reception was not overly friendly either. Do not recommend this motel at all. Luckily for us, it was just a quick stop.
Where do I begin. We were put next door to long term residents who were fighting, cursing all nite, tv blaring, no respect for other guests. The guy must have gone to work at 3am, because after a loud car came to pick him up, it was quiet and we could sleep. We were put in the back of the property, so we had to leave our car and haul our bags up stairs. Had to leave car out of sight all nite because parking only in front. No pretty flowers in front like the pictures show. Room was clean enough and front desk guy friendly. I doubt mgt will evict the noisy people because theyre guaranteed $$$, even though i reported them when we checked out. I called down to lobby between 1 and 3am several times to report them but no one answered. Will not stay here again. I think management has had complaints about them before but did nothing. Sounded like party central till 3am
Everything was great - friendly staff, nice rooms, decent price and good area. There was a couple next door who were arguing really loud, for a long time, waking up everyone. This was not the hotels fault though.
The room was really clean but smelled of old cigarette smoke.Got woken up at 3:45 by the people next door (who clearly live therehaving a big, loud, drunken argument for over an hour. Nobody available at the front desk to deal with it. Room cost more than online booking reservation quote.
