Govt has spent huge money to preserve the history but there are people from Archeology who request bakhsheesh. This is not good. The management need to monitor this. Visitors security also need to be ensured.

I reached at 8 Am , no person was available to serve , but I am thankful for the person who allow me to enter and visit the Khandrats...Place is so amazing and you feel like those people who lived here were more civilized and well aware of technology and town planning. Then after 30 minutes, officials reached and they open meusum for me..I would recommend you people to visit atleast once in your life, especially who wants to know about history and civilizations.

Harappa museum and a world renowned Pre historic site 3500-1500 B.C. Harappa is an archaeological site in sahiwal district, Punjab, Pakistan. The site take its name from a modern village located near the former course of Ravi river. The Indus Valley civilization was basically an urban culture sustained by surplus agricultural production and commerce, the latter including trade with Elam and Sumer in southern Mesopotamia. The Indus Valley Civilisation is also called the Harappan Civilisation. There is also a mazar or Darba name "Pagan wali sarkar" in the museum.

Off the main road, less people visit sadly. Always took the backseat compared to Moenjodaro. Situated 10 km off the national highway, the site boasts a small museum and architectural ruins which have been buried under sand to preserve. Sad that I saw locals playing cricket on top the ruins. Baba Nur Shah wali shrine also exists within the boundaries of the ruins.

I love visiting ancient places and this place was among one of my lists. We had read about this place from our childhood in school books as well so it was a dream come true like thing.I made a detailed video on Harappa which is available on YouTube.I would recommend two things firstly keep water along with you if you want to walk till the last point and secondly be careful while walking alone in the deserted area, though nothing happened wrong on my solo visit but still I thought to point out and recommend what I felt better. It is a long trail with ups and down so one might get tired a bit.The shrine of Baba Noor shah wali with 30 feet long grave and remanents of Mughal era mosque are extra places to watch.Harappa Meuseum is another good place to watch the ancient stuff.watch our detailed video on our channel dr sajid Vlog for more info and detailed content.😊

It was a study trip from the college. We enjoyed the outing, but didnt see what is mentioned in the textbooks. My students raised objections on the contents of the book. The museum contains stuff which they claim to be from the ancient times, but the stuff seemed too nascent to be claimed so. My students are now doubtful about the existence of Harappan civilization.Anyhow, they enjoyed the traveling a lot; they had a lot of fun.

Harappa Museum is an archaeology museum based in Harappa, Punjab, Pakistan. It is about 7 kilometers from Harappa railway station. Founded in 1926 as a small site museum, it shifted to its present building in 1967 which was constructed by the Government of Pakistan. The site of the ancient city contains the ruins of a Bronze Age fortified city, which was part of the Indus Valley Civilisation centred in Sindh and the Punjab, and then the Cemetery H culture.[1] The city is believed to have had as many as 23,500 residents and occupied about 150 hectares (370 acreswith clay brick houses at its greatest extent during the Mature Harappan phase (2600 BC – 1900 BC), which is considered large for its time.[2][3] Per archaeological convention of naming a previously unknown civilisation by its first excavated site, the Indus Valley Civilisation is also called the Harappan Civilisation. The ancient city of Harappa was heavily damaged under British rule, when bricks from the ruins were used as track ballast in the construction of the Lahore–Multan Railway. In 2005, a controversial amusement park scheme at the site was abandoned when builders unearthed many archaeological artefacts during the early stages of building work

Some 4500 years ago , a remarkable civilization existed in vast plains of River Indus & its tributaries including dried bed of hakra river in Cholistan & territoriesIt dominated an approx. Area of 4,25,000 square miles from foot hills from Himalaya to Arabian sea & is contemporary with civilization of Nile & Mesopotamia . A series of archaeological excavations at Harappa & Moinjo daro and other cities since 1921 have brought to light remains of systemically planned cities towns and settlements that present an outstand example of well organized civic life

The Harappan Civilization has its earliest roots in cultures such as that of Mehrgarh, approximately 6000 BC. The two greatest cities, Mohenjo-daro and Harappa, emerged circa 2600 BC along the Indus River valley in Punjab and Sindh. The civilization, with a possible writing system, urban centers, and diversified social and economic system, was rediscovered in the 1920s also after excavations at Mohenjo-daro in Sindh near Larkana, and Harappa, in west Punjab south of Lahore. A number of other sites stretching from the Himalayan foothills in east Punjab, India in the north, to Gujarat in the south and east, and to Pakistani Balochistan in the west have also been discovered and studied. Although the archaeological site at Harappa was damaged in 1857whe n engineers constructing the Lahore-Multan railroad used brick from the Harappa ruins for track ballast, an abundance of artifacts have nevertheless been found. The bricks discovered were made of red sand, clay, stones and were baked at very high temperature. As early as 1826 Harappa, located in west Punjab, attracted the attention of Daya Ram Sahni, who gets credit for preliminary excavations in Harappa.Harappa is an archaeological site in Punjab, Pakistan, about 24 km (15 miwest of Sahiwal.

Some four thousand five hundred years ago, a remarkable civilizationexisted in the vast plains of river indus and its tributearies includingthe dried bed of Hakra river in Cholistan and adjoining territories. It dominated an approximate area of 4,25,000 square miles from the foothillsof the hamaliya to the Arabian sea. This civilization was contemporarywith the civilization of the Nile and Mesopotamia. Among hundredsof ancient settlements being imprints of this civilization, Harappa andMohenjodaro were two important urban centers, A series of Archaeologicalexcavation. at Harappa, Mohenjodaro and other sites since 1921 havebrought to light remains ofsystematically planned citiestowns and settlements that presentan out standing example of wellorganized civic life. The wide straight roads. well planedhouses with elaborate undergroundsystem of drainage are still a modelfor present day town planners.Such excavation revealed anamazing story of the customs, artsand crafts, social system andeconomic life of the people whoinhabited it. Remains of the civilizationrevealed at Harappa are stillimportant and interesting.Digging below the fortificationwall revealed an earlier phase ofthis culture called the kot Dijiculture, At the north end of MoundAB even an earlier Hakra Phaseoccupation dating to 3900-2800 B.C.has been Found.
